Call of Duty: WWII Microtransactions Coming Next Week, Used to Buy Supply Drops

With “Call of Duty Points” having already been gifted to players who bought the Digital Standard or Digital Deluxe Edition, we knew it was only a matter of time before Call of Duty: WWII microtransactions were introduced into the game.

That day of reckoning will be November 14, as confirmed by Activision Support and the following in-game Message of the Day:

Digital Standard and Digital Deluxe Editions:

Your 1,100 COD Points bonus will be delivered to your in game when COD POints become available on November 14 at 9AM PT. No code or redemption required.

This in-game message also confirmed that COD Points will be used to buy both multiplayer and zombies Rare Supply Drops, with players deciding which type they’d prefer.

What with opening Supply Drops in CoD: WWII being a public event that everyone can see happen, I expect even more people will be buying COD Points. Smart thinking on Sledgehammer Games’ part, I suppose.

In other Call of Duty news, check out the complete collection of Prestige emblems, read up on the rank reset issues and how they are being fixed, and take a look at our tips for the multiplayer

Final Fantasy XV Comrades Co-Op Mode Launches Next Week

Following a short delay, the Final Fantasy XV co-op mode “Comrades” will finally be releasing on November 15. (It was originally planned to launch October 31.)

The new release date was tweeted out by the official FFXV Japanese Twitter account:

Also of note is the newly-implemented Xbox One update which adds support for the new Xbox One X system, along with a new multiple quest ordering function. This update will come to PS4 on November 10.

If you haven’t been keeping track of FFXV Comrades, here’s a refresher on what it features:

For the first time, Final Fantasy XV players will be able to create their own character and join up with three other friends to take on epic quests and battles in the game’s first and only online multiplayer expansion titled “Comrades.” Starting October 31, players will set foot as a survivor from Kingsglaive to find out more about the disappearance of Noctis after the events in Chapter 13 from the main game.

As members of Kingsglaive, players equip royal sigils that grant special powers from the Lucian bloodline. Players can then strategize and create a balanced team to take on a variety of quests. In addition to multiplayer quests, single player quests are also available for players to enhance their characters.

Will you be joining up with friends on November 15?

Report: WB Montreal Next Game to Be a Co-Op Multiplayer Open World Game

While Warner Bros. Montreal (or more commonly known as WB Montreal) isn’t as well known as the Rocksteady Studios, the developer of the Batman: Arkham franchise, the studio is big enough that publisher Warner Bros. trusts it with its big games and DLC.

With the studio’s last project being Batgirl: A Matter of Family DLC for Batman: Arkham Knight way back in 2015, some might be wondering just what the studio has been doing since then. Well, it seems the WB Montreal next game will not only be an open-world game (as most are these days), but will also include co-op, multiplayer, and be an action-RPG of some sort.

The tidbits of info was unearthed by Reddit user virgilhawkins17 who wrote a lengthy post explaining how he came to this conclusion. Short story is, he perused the LinkedIn profile of some of the employees, which you can view here, and here. The postings mention a game being developed using Unreal Engine 3, and mentions some of the same things in the Arkham games, with the most interesting bit being the “spawning of resources and decision-making.”Additional info indicates it’s an open-world, co-op multiplayer game, which also has a single-player component, and will let you make your own decisions and gather your own resources. There’s also a few screengrabs just in case the listings are taken down.

Click the images to see the duties and responsibilities of these developers that heavily hint at WB Montreal’s next game.

Bear in mind nothing here has been confirmed, so there’s a chance that these can all be outdated. We’ve contacted WB to ask for a statement on this and will update the post if and when they issue a statement.

Thoughts on this so far? You a fan of a DC game being an open-world, decision-making, action-RPG? Or you want something else? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.

Squad Free Weekend and 50% Discount Coming Up

A Squad free weekend and 50% discount is scheduled to begin on November 9 at 10 a.m. PT. Squad is only available on PC, and is accessible through the Steam store.

Here’s a rundown of what the game involves:

Squad is a 50 vs 50 multiplayer first-person shooter that aims to capture combat realism through communication and teamplay, emphasizing both strong squad cohesion mechanics as well as larger scale coordination, tactics and planning. It features large open maps, vehicle-based combined arms gameplay, and player-constructed bases to create a heart-thumping, visceral gaming experience which mixes organized tactical multi-squad planning with split second decision-making in real-world scale firefights.

It may sound a little hardcore, and it is! However, since you’re probably one of the millions who have been playing PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, the intense combat found in Squad is likely something you’ll love.

Do note that Squad is an Early Access title and may be a little buggy. With that said, it’s scheduled to fully launch by the end of this year, so there shouldn’t be too many issues.

I’ll be getting some squadmates together and giving it a go, for sure!

In other news, a Halo Wars 2 update has been released which adds PC and Xbox One crossplay support, this Star Wars Battlefront II video showcases all heroes in action, and the next World of Warcraft expansion has been revealed.

Need for Speed Dev Defends Microtransactions, Says Making Games Is “More Expensive Than It’s Ever Been”

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Ghost Games’ executive producer Marcus Nilsson spoke about how microtransactions are a necessity. He believes that, with games costing more money to produce and retail prices remaining at $60 for the standard editions, developers need to find ways to make money elsewhere.

It’s clear prices haven’t really gone up. That’s clear. I also know that producing games is more expensive than it has ever been. The game universe is changing in front of us now. We see more people playing fewer games for longer. Engagement is important. But how do we deliver longer experiences?

The bottom line is that it’s very hard to find this golden path that’s liked by everyone. We make games that are $60 and some might think that it’s worth $40. What’s the value in the package delivered? Something like GTA 5 and GTA Online versus The Last of Us, which you can play through in 10 hours. How do we value that? That’s probably a long discussion.

Nilsson then went on to explain how microtransactions work in Need for Speed Payback:

When you finish a race you get a card drop. There are three cards and you pick one of them and that’s randomized and you can equip that to the car, send it to garage, sell it for cash or recycle it.

There are also shipments in the game that the core of the economy. In a shipment you can have in-game cash, vanity items and part tokens, (which are a way to go for a specific part you want.) There are also premium shipments you can buy. The only difference are the vanity items. They are mostly time savers.

Nilsson certainly makes some interesting comments, and I can see how frustrating it must be to try and develop a game that both satisfies gamers, while ensuring enough money is made to hit targets.

What do you think of microtractions? Is there a “golden path” that pleases both parties? Let us know.

Need for Speed Payback is set to release on November 10, available on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

PlayStation Trophies Now Earn You PSN Credits to Spend

PlayStation Trophies have been made a lot more exciting for Sony Rewards users, with Trophies turning into PSN credits. Earning 100 Silver Trophies nets users 100 points (worth $1), 25 Gold Trophies becomes 250 points (worth $2.50), and 10 Platinum Trophies add up to 1,000 points (worth $10.00).

Sounds good, right? Well, there’s a couple of downsides. First, Sony Rewards is still only available to US players, and second, only Trophies earned after opting into this new “Trophy Pass” system count.

Not great news for those living outside the US, or those who have already achieved a boatload of Platinum Trophies. On the other hand, it’s good to see the Sony Rewards scheme evolving to be more significant. Hopefully we’ll see it come to other countries soon!

Will you be focusing on earning Trophies now that they’re worth actual money (well, PSN credits!)? Or is this simply not worth caring about? Let us know in the comments below.

Destiny 2 Xbox One X Enhancements Still Unconfirmed, Activision Remains Tight-Lipped

Despite being included in the Xbox One X reviewer’s pack, which contains the system and eighteen games, Destiny 2‘s Xbox One X “enhancements” — if it actually has any — have yet to be confirmed.

The game is expected to be enhanced for Xbox One X, in a similar way to the game’s boost in resolution on PS4 Pro, but Activision is remaining silent.

When DualShockers asked about possible Xbox One X features, Activision responded with: “We haven’t made any announcements about Xbox One X.”

One thing that has been confirmed, by Bungie dev Mark Noseworth, is the frame-rate of 30fps. He tweeted this out back in June:

There’s a lot of secrecy surrounding the Destiny 2 Xbox One X experience. The cynical part of me wonders if this has anything to do with the game’s partnership with PlayStation…

The launch of Xbox One X is right around the corner, with the system set to release worldwide on November 7. We won’t have to wait long to see how Destiny 2 runs on the new most powerful console!

In other Destiny 2 news, the Curse of Osiris expansion got a new trailer and release date, the upcoming expansion will also increase the level cap, and the Destiny 2 Raid was beaten by a clan of deaf gamers

Call of Duty: WWII Down on PS4 Again, Gives Error Code #103295 (Update)

Update #2:

The Activision Support Twitter account has given an update on the situation and has said that servers for “all” Call of Duty games have recovered.

We intentionally waited an hour or two before updating the post to make sure the COD: WWII server issues are really sorted out. Once it goes down again (hopefully not), we’ll be sure to let people know.

Update #1:

After numerous tries, it seems it puts players on queue, but after waiting it out, the connection dropped again, and this time showing error code #36988.  We’ll update the post again once more info is known.

Original Story:

After posting that the Call of Duty: WWII PlayStation 4 servers seem to be back up (roughly around 18 hours ago), it seems the COD: WWII PS4 servers are down yet again today. Logging in will get you error code #103295 and the usual “The Call of Duty:WWII service is not available at this time. Please try again later or visit http://www.callofduty.com/wwii/status for updates” message. The official Activision online services page states that all platforms are “online” right now.

The official Activision Support Twitter has not acknowledge the downtime yet, nor has Sledgehammer Games’ account. But once they do, we’ll make sure to update the post. Let’s hope that a hotfix or title update rolls out soon to fix the server issues, matchmaking problems, and of course, the end-of-match glitch that puts players in an endless loading screen.

While you’re waiting for the servers to go back up, do check out our beginner’s guide for some handy tips. If you’ve experienced a rank reset of some sort, don’t fret, Sledgehammer has identified the problem, so it should be sorted soon (if not already). Finally, it seems the Call of Duty: WWII version we’re playing now is the one from the beta! Don’t believe us? Here’s proof!

Call of Duty: WWII Rank Reset Issue Identified and Fixed by Sledgehammer Games, “Solo HQ” Part of Maintenance

Safe to say, it’s been a rocky launch so far for Call of Duty: WWII, what with servers for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One both impacted, glitched end-of-match screens and so on. Another issue some players might have seen or have experienced is seeing their nultiplayer rank reset, which will dishearten any Call of Duty fan.

Fortunately, Sledegehammer Games has found the issue and has rolled out a server-side fix. Over on Twitter, an announcement was made by the studio that they’ve “identified and resolved” the ranked reset issue.

In case you couldn’t see the tweets, it reads:

We’ve identified and resolved the ranked reset issue that some have encountered. We’ll be restarting servers with the fix shortly. (1 of 2)

If your rank has been impacted, please contact for help. (2 of 2)

This is definitely good news since it’s never fun to lose in-game progress and have to do them all over again.

Continuing with COD: WWII, some players might have noticed that they’re the only player in Headquarters. Fret not! This is intentional as “Solo HQ” is done to improve the online experience. The silver lining is, you can invite your friends to your HQ.

Let’s hope these issues are resolved very soon, and maybe then we can expect Sledgehammer to roll out the beta changes that was promised to us in the final game that aren’t there for some reason.

If you’ve experienced a Call of Duty: WWII issue that isn’t know yet, let us know in the comments below so we can check it out.

Report: Call of Duty: WWII Changes Promised From the Beta Aren’t in the Final Game

If you’ve played the Call of Duty: WWII beta extensively, then you might have remembered a few things Sledgehammer Games promised would be fixed in the final game based on player feedback. Stuff like Domination kills counting as 100 for score instead of 50, ADS (aim down sights) time being faster and more.

Now, if you’ve played the game now, which is the “final” version (not counting game updates), then you might have noticed some of the promised changes from the beta aren’t in the retail release. Domination kills still count as 50, post-game loading screens are still insanely long (which is better than being stuck in the dreaded lobby glitch) and lots more.

YouTuber Birdman even made a video about it where he talks about the non-changes. The significant ones that prove as “evidence” of this is the Domination score for kills, and TDM (team deathmatch) score limit still at 75, even when it was changed to 100 in the second phase of the beta.

Given our own hands-on of the multiplayer so far, we have to agree. There’s a lot of stuff in the beta that was supposed to be fixed, but is still in the game today. Sledgehammer Games has not issued any statement what’s the cause of this, but if they do, we’ll be sure to update players ASAP.

Having said all this, don’t be surprised if a patch rolls out very soon to implement the promised beta changes, and (hopefully) to fix the nagging server and technical issues players are experiencing right now.

If you notice any changes that should be in the game right now that was supposed to be fixed, let us know in the comments.
