Mortal Kombat X – “Blanch-ality” Patch Now Available On Xbox One, Tanya’s Variations Revealed

Mortal Kombat X players on the Xbox One platform can now rejoice as the latest patch that brings infamous Blanche stage brutality and numerous character changes is now available for download.

Unfortunately, it seems PC users may have to wait a bit longer to receive it, as there’s still no ETA on when the patch will arrive.

Speaking of the patch, which also added assets for Tanya and added her to the character select screen, it seems that is has also outed her variations in similar fashion to how Jason variations were. They are:

  • Kobu Jitsu
  • Dragon Naginata
  • Pyromancer

Judging from the names of her variations, it looks like some will heavily favor different types of weapons, such as the bladed tonfas and, while others might be based off of her fire based special attacks.

Mortal Kombat X is available for the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Trailer Highlights New Weapon & Gear Additions

Recapping all of the latest weapon and gear additions to Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare over the past few weeks, Activision and Sledgehammer Games have put together a brand new gameplay trailer filled with high-action moments and cool so-mo shots.

Earlier this week, a brand new set of weapon variants was introduced to Advanced Warfare. Dubbed “Royalty Elite,” weapons in this new set boast powerful stats and sport a highly detailed royal purple camo. Along with this update, Sledgehammer introduced new non-Akimbo variants of the SAC3 sub-machine gun.

Both sets are now available on Xbox One and soon coming to PlayStation 4 and PC. According to Sledgehammer, these sets won’t be coming to previous-generation consoles due to hardware limitations.

Earlier this month, Sledgehammer also gave Advanced Warfare fans access to the new M1 Irons special weapon, including 10 variants, as well as brand new gear drops to customize your Operator with.

Battlefield Hardline Criminal Activity DLC Revealed, Premium Members Get Early Access In June

Visceral Games and EA have dropped the first official details for Battlefield Hardline‘s upcoming multiplayer expansion, dubbed “Criminal Activity.”

According to the announcement, Battlefield Hardline Premium subscribers will get early access some time in June. The expansion itself will get you hooked up with the following:

  • Four fast-paced new maps – Backwoods, Code Blue, The Beat and Black Friday
  • Two new rides
  • Two new ammunition types for specific weapons
  • A new gadget
  • Three new weapons
  • A nailgun battlepickup
  • New Bounty Hunter game mode
  • Six new masks: two animal masks, and four new police headgear options

As for the set up, Visceral writes, “Small crews of well-trained, aggressive criminals have been using force of arms to terrorize the citizenry and are in direct conflict with the police in many cases. Public property damages and insurance claims have skyrocketed, not to mention the impact on the police force.”

“Detectives have uncovered evidence of a secret crime ring that could be behind all of this activity. They’re not sure why anyone would coordinate these goals – in a number of cases, the take seems to be smaller than the risk. But, orders have come down the chain to find out what’s going on and put a stop to it. Will you help the police?”

Hopefully we’ll get a good look at some of the new content in action soon. For now, keep your sights on MP1st for more Battlefield news and updates.

Destiny Expansion II: House of Wolves Has Arrived, The Queen Awaits

The second major expansion for Bungie’s shared-world shooter, Destiny, is now available to download on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.

House of Wolves opens up a brand new social space in the Reef where Guardians will meet fresh faces and begin a new quest to help the Queen that summoned you to eradicate her Fallen foe.

In addition to new Story Missions and Bounties, House of Wolves’ activities include a new three-player Strike called The Shadow Thief, a new three-player, end-game, wave-based arena event called the Prison of Elders, and a highly-competitive, three-versus-three multiplayer event called the Trials of Osiris. From these activities, you’ll earn new weapons and armor or special material to upgrade pre-existing weapons and armor to help you reach the new maximum Light Level of 34. Be sure to re-visit the Tower to find new ways to upgrade or re-roll your gear and exchange materials.

On the competitive side of things, Destiny’s PvP multiplayer will be expanded with three new maps — Thieves’ Den, Black Shield, and Widow’s Court — and a new three-versus-three, elimination-style game mode. A fourth map, Timekeeper, will be exclusive to PlayStation users for a limited time.

Here’s the official feature list, as per a recently sent out press release:

  • New Co-op Arena Activity – Set in the Prison of Elders, teams of three players can take on waves of increasingly difficult enemies to earn high-level legendary and exotic rewards.
  • New Competitive Multiplayer Event – The Trials of Osiris is a brand new, weekly 3v3 elimination event where power levels matter.
  • New Loot and Customizations – Earn new weapons, armor, and gear, including Legendary, Exotic, Faction and Fallen-themed items.
  • Level Increase – Raise your Light Level to 34, including the introduction of gear ascension to increase the maximum level of previously earned Legendary and Exotic weapons and armor.
  • New Story Missions and Quests – Take on new adventures through new missions and quests featuring Petra Venj of the Queensguard and Variks, a Fallen loyal to the Queen.
  • New Social Space – Visit a brand new space in The Reef, set within the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter, with new vendors offering unique rewards, new bounties and more.
  • New Strike: The Shadow Thief – Journey to the Moon and hunt down a notoriously cutthroat Fallen mercenary named Taniks.
  • New Competitive Multiplayer Maps:
    • Black Shield – a decommissioned Firebase is believed to have been a key defensive position used by the Cabal when they established their warbase on Mars
    • Thieves’ Den – a Fallen hideout located in the calderas of Venus with precarious drops that offer alternate routes for those willing to risk the fall
    • Widow’s Court – an asymmetrical map with both long sightlines and tight interiors, set in the European Dead Zone on Earth
    • PlayStation® Exclusive Content* – PlayStation® gamers will also get access to a fourth competitive multiplayer map, Timekeeper, which is set within a mysterious clockwork-like structure on Mars built by the Vex. *Timed exclusive until at least Fall 2015

It’s Shotgun Vs. Demon In New Doom Teaser, E3 Gameplay Reveal Is June 14

On June 14 at 7:00 PM Pacific, Bethesda will give Doom fans — and long-time first-person shooter fans in general — what they’ve all been waiting for: a first look at the upcoming reboot, simply titled “Doom.”

It’s about time. Isn’t it? Like many who pre-ordered Wolfenstein: The New Order over one year ago, you’re probably wondering what the heck to do with that beta key you were awarded, promising you access to the Doom Beta some time before the end of 2015.

Between then and now, all of what we’ve seen or heard of Bethesda’s new project amounts to this short teaser trailer and this recounting of the behind-closed-doors gameplay footage shown to audiences at QuakeCon 2014. According to those who attended, we know that Doom is built on the idTech 6 engine and that it will run at 60FPS and 1080p. We also heard that it will attempt to reimagine the older games with a similar focus on run-and-gun gameplay, a Mars setting, and tons of gore and violence.

More than likely, Bethesda’s media briefing will detail the upcoming Doom Beta launch on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4, along with presenting some action-packed gameplay. The game’s newest teaser trailer, showcasing a soldier loading buckshot into a double barrel shotgun and a monstrous screaming demon-thing with shoulder-mounted rocket launchers, can be viewed above.

Mortal Kombat X – First Look At The Kold War Skin Pack, Now Available [Updated]

Update

The Kold War pack is now available for purchase for $3.99 USD in the in-game store.

Original Story

Ever since the Jason Voorhees compatibility patch that hit a few weeks ago, fans of Mortal Kombat X have been asking when the mysterious “Kold War” skin pack, featuring Cold War-era style skins for Kano, Sonya and Sub-Zero, will be available for purchase.

At the time of this writing, there’s no official answer, aside from the “soon” that the MKX devs recently stated and a rather small teaser from the co-creator of the franchise himself, Ed Boon.

However, thanks to a user on Reddit running an “unlocker” on the PC version of the game, we’ve managed to get our first good view of the Kold War skins. You can check out the images below with each characters wearing both their player 1 and player 2 colors:

nDL0JuOHJUYFmirymF5yBKttTaFNaoZdwJ9G5FccL3

Recently, Mortal Kombat X received a new patch that saw the majority of the cast receive a few noticeable changes, added a rather hilarious stage brutality in Outworld Marketplace featuring Blanche, and more. It should be noted that this patch is still currently only available on the PlayStation 4, though the Xbox One and PC platforms will receive it soon.

Halo 5: Guardians HUNTtheTRUTH Campaign Concludes With Two-Part Finale On June 14

Halo 5: Guardian’s HUNTtheTRUTH marketing campaign, which Halo developer 343 Industries initiated last March, will conclude in a two-part season finale on June 14, Microsoft announced today.

That’s one day before the company’s yearly media briefing at E3, which takes place this year on June 15, suggesting that the campaign will lead directly into any Halo 5: Guardians announcements or reveals 343 has planned for their presentation.

In a series of weekly podcasts called HUNTtheTRUTH, Halo fans have followed fictional war journalist Benjamin Giraud as he uncovers the deepest, darkest secrets of the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI), the Spartan program, and the heroic Spartan 117, Master Chief.

Sysomos English has called the campaign “one of the most discussed advertising campaigns in March,” which now boasts a current total of 2.15 million listens across iTunes and Soundcloud. In addition, three separate announcement trailers for the game have been viewed online and on television more than 217 million times while over 250,000 fans have visited websites for the ARG. To-date, “Halo 5: Guardians” has also been referenced nearly 960,000 times across social media since the campaign’s start.

The campaign itself features a triple-A voice cast, including Keegan-Michael Key of “Key and Peele,” Cobie Smulders of “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” Kumail Nanjiani of “Silicon Valley,” and legendary actor Stacy Keach. Other voices familiar to the video game world include Jennifer Hale and Troy Baker among others.

If you haven’t been keeping up with the intriguing and sometimes shocking fictional events leading up to Halo 5: Guardians, you can have a listen to the entire series of podcasts on huntthetruth.tumblr.com.

Halo 5: Guardians launches on Xbox One October 27. We expect to learn much more about the game on June 15 during Microsoft’s E3 conference.

Battlefield 4’s Community Test Environment Is Coming To Xbox One ‘Really Soon,’ Says DICE LA Engineer

Battlefield 4’s Community Test Environment is on its way to Xbox One “really soon,” according to DICE LA, who are currently leading the charge for upcoming Battlefield 4 patches and content updates.

Julian, an Engineer at the studio, posted this picture with the caption “What’s going on here?!”

What exactly are we looking at? There are two Xbox One consoles on the desk and, if you look at the monitors, both appear to be powering the CTE version of Battlefield 4, which you can make out by the red watermark. Julian clarified in another tweet that the Xboxes “are regular retail consoles in the picture, not dev kits and not running any dev software. Just regular retail consoles connected to the internet.”

Previously, DICE LA Producer David Sirland expressed his interest in bringing Battlefield 4’s test environment to consoles, but cited Microsoft and Sony’s strict patch and update certification processes as the primary barrier.

According to Julian, those hurdles may have been jumped, as he said in another tweet that fans will get to play it on Xbox One “really really really really soon.” No word of CTE running on PlayStation 4.

Currently, Battlefield 4’s CTE is open to Premium subscribers on PC and is run on only a limited number of servers as a place to perform experiments and test new updates, patches, and content. It was most recently updated with a 60Hz and 120Hz high frequency network as well as content that will be arriving in Battlefield 4’s Spring Patch on all platforms before the end of this month.

Keep your sights on MP1st for more updates. We’ll let you know when we find out more about CTE on consoles.

Halo 5: Guardians Limited Edition & Limited Collector’s Edition Box Art Revealed [Updated]

Update

EB Games New Zealand has updated their Halo 5: Guardians page with similar box art. Details on its contents are still being kept secret, but we’ll likely find out during or shortly after 343 Industries’ media briefing at E3 this year.

Original Story

Box art for both the Limited and Limited Collector’s Editions of Halo 5: Guardians has allegedly been revealed, courtesy of Gamestop Italy.

Developer 343 Industries announced both special editions of the game late last year, providing a rough description of the contents within each. While the $99.99 USD Limited Edition includes the game “plus new digital content” and “exclusive items wrapped in a uniquely designed steel book,” the $249.99 Limited Collector’s Edition will sport all of the above plus “additional content such as a commemorative numbered statue designed by 343 Industries.”

Gamestop Italy’s new page doesn’t provide any further details, but it does looks like it offers a first peek at the new box art for both editions, along with some Gamestop-exclusive action figures, not to be confused with the Limited Collector’s Edition’s commemorative statue.

Note: The cases do say “For Display Only,” so there’s still a chance that these covers are subject to change.

Battlefield 4 Spring Patch Preview – New Weapons & Mode Accompany Better Balance & Network Improvements

Featured image courtesy of Berdu

Near the end of May, developer DICE LA aims to update Battlefield 4 with a hefty new patch, dubbed the “Spring Patch”, which will bring a handful of new features in addition to the standard bug fixes and gameplay improvements.

In a new blog post on Battlelog, the studio recently detailed two of these new features and talked about some of the other big updates fans can expect later this month. They include an assortment of new weapons, a new game mode, weapon tuning updates, and improvements to netcode, among other things. Check out the details below.

Five New Weapons

DICE LA has picked five “old fan favorites” to bring back in Battlefield 4’s Spring Patch. According to the studio, they were “picked based on their unique gameplay aspects.”

New fan favorite Assault Rifle: AN-94 – “Picked based on its unique burst gameplay and massive fan desirability”

New Carbine: Groza-1 – “A unique bullpup carbine with built-in vertical grip”

New PDW: Groza-4 – “A unique PDW with built-in silencer”

New Sidearm: Mare’s Leg – “Unique long range ‘sniper’ sidearm using magnum rounds”

New LMG: L86A2 – “Magazine fed LMG, which with the new weapons balance, plays in between a belt-fed LMG and an AR – your ‘run and gun’ LMG”

Battlefield community member Berdu recently posted this Imgur album filled with beautiful screenshots of all five new weapons, which are now available in Battlefield 4 CTE. Check it out:

BF4 CTE New Weapons

Full Weapons Balance Pass

Speaking of weapons, DICE LA is performing a balance pass across Battlefield 4’s entire weapon list, revamping the damage, falloff, and suppression model. The studio says its goal “has been to create distinct roles for the weapon classes, and award skill of the player through increased recoil and by bringing back the 2-bullet headshot!”

Below is a visual representation of Battlefield 4’s new damage, falloff, and suppression model.

bf4-spring-patch-blog

Return of Gun Master

Gun Master, which you may remember last from Battlefield 3’s DLC, is returning with five different variants and a progression of 18 different weapons in each.

“Gun Master is played like a Team Deathmatch game,” says DICE LA. “The twist is that you don’t get to choose the weapons used. You swap weapons every time you get two consecutive kills on an opponent and whoever is the first player to get a kill with the final weapon wins!”

Here are the five different presets that will be available:

Standard – “This setup contains rifles, machine guns, shotguns and pistols and ends with the M9 bayonet”

Classic – “Classic rifles, machine guns, shotguns and pistols ending with a M9 bayonet”

Pistol – “In this preset you can only use different kind of pistols, ending with the survival knife”

DLC – “This mode will let you play with DLC weapons – including the Phantom bow”

Troll – “Seeing how Gun Master is a ‘party mode’, we had to make a silly weapon list too! This one starts out with ballistic shields (as weapons) and it’s downhill from there”

PC Stability & Netcode Updates

In an effort to improve Battlefield 4’s online experience, DICE LA has “set out to significantly improve client stability on all platforms and have applied fixes for the most frequently occurring crashes on each.”

The studio urges users on PC to ” upgrade their graphics driver to the latest stable versions, keeping overclocking to a minimum for the best results with Spring Patch.”

According to the studio, players can expect a full list of patch notes closer to launch. Keep your sights on MP1st for updates!
