Battlefield 5 Firestorm Duo Mode Now Available for the Weekend

If you’re a fan of Battlefield 5’s battle royale mode Firestorm and wanted a more compact experience than playing with a full squad, then you just got your wish! Today, DICE announced that a Battlefield 5 Firestorm duo mode is now available, though for a limited time.

It’s available now, and will be accessible until Monday! Here’s the official announcement:

Morning folks,

Today we’re introducing Duo to Firestorm. It’s available in game for you to play right now.

It’s our first time putting Duo out into the wild having started work on the mode much later in Firestorms development. We love it, and we think it’s a great addition to the game, but we recognize best that we’re better hearing that from you, and we’d appreciate your support in helping to make it a strong addition to Firestorm, and Battlefield V.

We’re making it available until 10am UTC on Monday 15th April, at which point we’ll come back to you all to ask how you found the experience. Did it change the pacing of the games for you? Did it cause for hotter drops? Were you enjoying it as much as Solos and Squads? Were you primarily playing with Randoms, or Squadding with a friend, and how did each of those two matchmaking types change things for you with the experience?

You can add your feedback here on the thread, so don’t be shy to share your thoughts as you go. Next week, we’ll look at the hard data that we get from our various teams, as well as the feedback that you share with us here. We’ll then come back and share our learnings next week.

Enjoy Duo!

Freeman

Needless to say, if the community likes it, you can bet it’ll be a regular part of Firestorm.

Have you tried duos in Firestorm yet? What do you make of it so far?

Ubisoft CEO Explains Why We Still Haven’t Seen a New Splinter Cell Game

While there’s been hints and confirmation that some people were at one point working on the series, Ubisoft’s Splinter Cell franchise has been in stasis for more than five years now and so far this year, no announcement has come from the publisher about the future of the franchise.

Speaking to IGN (via Gamebuz), Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot explained why we still haven’t seen a new Splinter Cell game in years, and people can blame the publisher’s other franchises for being super successful for it (to some degree).

“When you create a game, you have to make sure you will come with something that will be different enough from what you did before. Last time we did a Splinter Cell, we had lots of pressure from all the fans saying, ‘Don’t change it; don’t do this; don’t do that.’ So some of the teams were more anxious to work on the brand.”

“Now there are some things and some people that are now looking at the brand; taking care of the brand. At one point you will see something but I can’t say more than that.” Guillemot further added: “Also, because of Assassin’s Creed and all the other brands taking off, people wanted to work on those brands more. So we have to follow what they like to do.”

We’re just a few months away from E3 2019, where Ubisoft has confirmed that it will be holding its annual press conference. Perhaps we’ll see the franchise resurface there? One can hope.

Do you want to see a new Splinter Cell game and do you think it has a chance of standing toe to toe with Ubisoft’s other franchises like Assassin’s Creed and the like?

The Division 2 State of the Game Summary Rounds Up Reveals Some of the Fixes Coming Soon

Earlier today, Ubisoft Massive held its The Division 2 State of the Game show wherein the developers talk about The Division 2’s current status, where the studio is taking the game, upcoming fixes and more.

If you didn’t catch the entire thing, don’t fret! Thanks to Reddit user JokerUnique, we have a The Division 2 State of the Game summary for you to peruse.

Battle for D.C. is out

  • Last Friday we got the first big update for The Division 2 with the Tidal Basin Stronghold and World Tier 5
  • Was good to finally drop WT5 so that players can start with the endgame grind.
  • They could also implement some changes and there was a lot of feedback about them.

Quality of life changes

Apparel Event

  • Today is the last day that you can get an Apparel Cache key for free when you log in.
  • Year 1 Pass holders get 3 keys for free when you log in during the event.
  • There were also some confusions about the event: The timing of the event on the in-game timer is incorrect, the event is a week shorter than shown in-game:

Phases

  • Event Live – April 5th to April 24th. During this period, Event keys can be earned through various sources.
  • Event Closing – April 25th to May 2nd. If you have leftover keys available, be sure to use them now! You can use your unspent keys, as well as purchase additional ones to complete apparel sets.
  • Post Event – May 2nd onward. All items from the Event Cache are moved into the standard Apparel Caches to earn through gameplay, as well as put on the Apparel Store for direct purchase, with an exception for the Black Tusk uniform.

When you have leftover keys after all that, you can still unlock the Apparel Caches with them but you will not get the Black Tusk Uniform. The uniform can only be unlocked when you get all 30 pieces of the event until April 24th.

How Are Keys Earned?

From there, keys can be earned from the following sources:

  • Weekly Apparel Projects: three keys each
  • Chance to drop when reaching Field Proficiency upon each level after 30
  • Chance to drop when reaching Dark Zone Proficiency
  • Direct purchase with Premium Credits

There is no limitation on how many keys you can get per day.

=> Event Summary

Known Issues

Daily Mission Exploit

Over the weekend an exploit was discovered that involved the daily project, that is why they were deactivated for a couple of days. That has been resolved and they are now back in the rotation.

Signature Ammo reset after each relog

They saw the reports – they are currently investigating if that is intended or a bug.

Ivory Keys

They fixed an issue of how to get the last Ivory Key, but players are still reporting they did not get all of them. They are aware of that issue. Please let them know on the official forums which Ivory Keys you are missing so that they can investigate what the exact issue is.

T-Poses

Obviously not intended. It is a high priority issue, because it impacts the gamplay and line-of-sight. But it requires a client patch (Update 2.1) to fix that issue. The plan is to drop that patch as soon as possible. A T-Pose-Emote is not planned at this point.

Crafting Bench Upgrade Issue

Many players have reported that they have problems upgrading the Crafting Bench to World Tier 5 (or even before that). They have a fix ready that will also drop with Update 2.1.

Characters getting stuck

There are a lot of instances and situations where you can get stuck with your character and can’t move anymore. Please report on the official forums when exactly this happened, what you did and what was the last thing you did. Some of the causes will be fixed with Update 2.1, but they will add more fixes as the issues are found.

Revive Hive Bug

There are a bunch of situations where the Revive Hive does not work properly. They have to look at each of the situations individually to determine a fix. Some fixes are already scheduled for Update 2.1 but they are continuously looking for more causes.

True Patriot Bonus not applying

It is also a known issue that the two-piece bonus of the True Patriot Gear Set is not applied properly, there will also be a fix for that in Update 2.1.

NPC being very aggressive on higher difficulty

There is currently an issue with NPCs, that they have the impression, that they have the upper hand and can win the encounter. That is why they are very aggressive and are trying to rush the players. This is of course not intended. They should only attack in that way under certain conditions. It is currently not known when this issue will be addressed.

Gear Score Drops on World Tier 5

They know that players are frustrated to not get only GS 500 drops on World Tier 5 when they have reached GS 500 on their character. There is currently a window where gear can drop below GS500 and they are willing to look into that. At the moment there is no change scheduled though.

DirectX 12 Crashes

They know about the issue that many players with Nvidia graphics cards have crashes when they use DirectX12. They are currently working with Nvidia to get a set of new drivers out that should address the issue. Currently, we have no specific date for that.

Reset Timers

They are also looking into all the reset timers to get them more streamlined for all the different content.

Balancing of the Game

Many things have been changed with the last update and there was a lot of feedback.

The balance of the game is a constantly evolving thing and that is why it is very important to give feedback about what you are experiencing and what you think works and what does not. They will keep listening and adjusting accordingly.

They are still planning to do a lot about balance, but they will let the specialist specify that when the time is right.

What they are also looking into is armor and survivability, but a change in that area is not scheduled for Update 2.1 or Update 3

PTS for Title Update 3

To test the new content and the new items that will be added with Title Update 3 (April 25th), they plan to do a PTS (Public Test Server).

  • PTS is a separate client that you have to download
  • Only for only PC and Uplay
  • This is how they will test the update.
  • The Raid will not be available on the PTS.
  • You have to own the game to access the PTS.
  • There is no NDA on the PTS

PTS is scheduled for next week, more details will follow.

Whew! That’s a lot! Note that there’s also planned maintenance tomorrow, which will take effect on 3:30 ET, and will last for three hours. We’ll get a reminder post up once it’s time.

New Borderlands 3 Trailer Accidentally Released but Got Pulled, Watch It Here Now

Remember when Gearbox accidentally outed the game’s release date ahead of its official announcement? Well, it seems another sort of “leak” has happened once again, and this time, it’s via the game’s Instagram!

Earlier today, the official Borderlands 3 Instagram account posted a trailer called “Borderlands and Chill,” though it has since been removed. Thankfully, YouTuber Dantics (via GameBuz) managed to rip the video before it got pulled! Watch it below (it starts at the 2:35 mark) to see this new Borderlands 3 trailer!

Not bad, right? Most likely, we’ll be getting this trailer officially sometime this week!

Gearbox is set to unveil our first hands-on impressions of Borderlands 3 on May 1, but in the meantime, go check out the PS4 theme you get for pre-ordering the game digitally right here. Gearbox also mentioned how loot streams will be individualized and there’ll be no level restrictions for those who want to squad up.

Borderlands 3 will shoot out this September 13 on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Destiny 2: Bungie Accidentally Lets XB1/PC Players Buy & Use PS4-Exclusive Weapon, Will Roll Out “Fix” to Block It

By now, it’s no secret that there’s a marketing deal between Sony and former Destiny 2 publisher Activision that saw Sony gain access to timed-exclusive content in the form of maps, missions, and even weapons. Well, it seems someone at Bungie bungled up, as the in-game vendor Xur, sold this PS4-exclusive weapon the Wavesplitter to Xbox One and PC players over the weekend,

Over on the Bungie forums (via Kotaku), Community Manager Cozmo issued a statement where the studio confirmed that a hotfix will soon be rolled out to mitigate this “issue.” For now, players who bought the weapon will be able to use it until the “fix” is rolled out. Once it is, Xbox One and PC players who have the Wavesplitter will have the weapon stocked in their inventory, and will be able to use it in September 2019.

Wavesplitter Issue

We’re investigating an issue where the Sony exclusive weapon Wavesplitter was made available from Xûr on Xbox and PC. We’re currently working on a fix. In the meantime, Xbox and PC players who acquired the weapon will be able to use it. After the fix goes live, they will still have it in their inventories, but will not be able to equip it until this weapon enters the general Exotic loot pool in September 2019.

It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that Destiny 2 fans will not like this current decision by Bungie. At the very least, they can take comfort in knowing that the weapon will still be theirs to keep, and can be used at a later date. I mean, that’s better than having it pulled outright, right?

In other Destiny 2 news, go check out the patch notes for today’s title update.

Battlefield 5 Upcoming Challenges for Tides of War Chapter 3 and New Gun Rewards Leaked

While each Battlefield 5 Tides of War chapter brings in new gameplay fixes, modes, and even content, there’s no doubt that the new Challenges that come with each chapter are also one of the highlights. For those looking forward to some of the Battlefield 5 upcoming Challenges, you’re in luck!

Thanks to Battlefield 5 dataminer temporyal, a big list of the Battlefield 5 upcoming Challenges for Tides of War Chapter 3: Trial By Fire have been leaked, and some of them will grant new weapons as rewards! Check out the leaked info which shows us the Tides of War Chapter 3 Challenges for Week 6 to Week 12!

https://i.redd.it/vhlx1v0eg9r21.png

P08 Pistol Carbine (Carbine / Medic) alternatively “P08 Luger Artillery”

Reward for ToW Week 7 (May 9 – May 16)

“The P08 Artillery Luger was a variation of the P08 with a longer barrel, shoulder stock and drum magazine. German Stormtroopers used it in World War I and reissued it to certain units in World War II.” (Ingame)

https://i.redd.it/45lveuueg9r21.png

Beretta M38 (SMG / Medic) alternatively “MAB 38”

Reward for ToW Week 12 (June 13 – June 20)

“The MAB 38 and its variants were a series of official submachine guns of the Royal Italian Army introduced in 1938 and used during World War II. The guns were also used by the German, Romanian, and Argentine armies of the time.” (Wikipedia)

I have no info on other weekly rewards but I think week 10 (Mercury map release) could be another strong contender for a weapon reward. With “Bolt Action Carbines” and “Pistol Carbines” in the game I wonder when they’re going to add the last category (“Machine Pistols”).

Tides of War: Chapter 3 – Week 6 to 12 Challenges

Please be aware that I can’t see the real tree of those weekly challenges and have no info on the values of X (except for the rare cases where the following word gives it away).

But it’s quite nice to see what we have to do and some descriptions provide a bit of insight about some new game modes.

Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order Teaser Now Out, First Look Happening This Saturday

While people might be familiar with Respawn Entertainment due to the studio’s Titanfall franchise, and most rcently, the success of Apex Legends, it’s important to remember that the studio has a AAA game cooking right as we speak, and it’s none other than Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order.

To help drum up hype and excitement for the game, which is expected to ship out later this year, Respawn will finally give us our first official look this coming Saturday during the Star Wars Celebration!

As one might expect, this Jedi Fallen Order reveal will be livestreamed this weekend, which we’ll have on the site once it’s available.

Respawn isn’t stopping there, however, as there’s also a Jedi Fallen Order teaser released by Respawn as well. Check it out below, though there’s not much to it.

It’s uncertain for now whether Jedi Fallen Order has a multiplayer component, though given the studio’s pedigree, I wouldn’t be surprised if it did.

What do you hope to see from Respawn’s Star Wars game? Do you think it’ll involve multiplayer of any kind?

Rumor: Halo Infinite Currently Is the Most Expensive Gaming Project of All Time

While Halo fans are eagerly awaiting any new news and developments from 343 Industries’ next major entry in the franchise with Halo Infinite, a new rumor has sprung up that claims the development cost of Halon Infinite is at a staggering $500 million!

This rumor was floated by German Xbox site Xbox Dynasty (via ComicBook) where it mentions this half a billion USD budget is just for development, and doesn’t even include marketing costs. Not only that, but it also allegedly even trumps the budget of Red Dead Redemption 2, which is surprising given how notorious Rockstar Games is for spending a ton developing their open world games.

Note that people should take this rumor with a huge bag of salt, as Xbox Dynasty is a relative unknown, and could be pulling numbers out of their asses. But hey, it’s a nice topic to talk about while we’re waiting on actual tangible Halo Infinite news.

While Microsoft has confirmed that Halo Infinite is indeed Halo 6, there’s still no release window attached to the game, Will it be a launch game for the next Xbox? I wouldn’t be surprised if it was, and it would explain the astronomical budget if so.

  • Fixed an issue that would cause the screen to shake when enabling DLSS and turning off motion blur.

In case you haven’t checked it yet, a report has cropped up regarding Anthem’s turbulent development, and BioWare has issued a letter to staff about it.

Battlefield 5 Elite Skins Unearthed, Here’s Our First Look

Just yesterday, we posted a list of new weapons set to come to Battlefield 5 which was unearthed by datamining the game’s files. Well, today, we have more! In this latest round of datamined game files, we get to see our first look at Battlefield 5 Elite skins!

Once again unearthed by Battlefield 5 dataminer temporyal, we see the two Battlefield 5 Elite soldiers, along with a few info regarding their history and whatnot.

As you probably already know Elite Soldiers will feature unique voice lines, new end of round animations and custom melee weapons, too.

Currently there is no model for “Hanna Delacroix” (this skin will probably come in ToW Chapter 4) present in the game files so I decided to go with a selection of “resistance” themed artworks.

Ernst Schubert

Place of birth: Munich, Germany

A skilled marksman trained in infiltration, evasion, and camouflage. Winner of multiple awards in target shooting and champion in the sport of Military Patrol before conscription.

Cold, calculated, and always in control. Schubert is a man of few words but his presence in the field becomes evident by the gaps left in the enemy team. A scout that will often remove a threat himself more quickly than he can relay its location.

Quote: “My weapon? Patience.”

Seamus Byrne

Place of birth: Belfast, Northern Ireland

Aggressive assault specialist. Rumors suggest he volunteered or was conscripted to the King’s Guard – he’s not telling. Strong and anything but silent, Seamus lives to push a hard-fought frontline with a well-timed put-down. Extensive urban combat experience. Hits, runs and hits again.

Comfortable with explosives at danger-close proximity, even if his squad isn’t. Sometimes acts before thinking through all consequences, leaving both himself and his squad dangerously over-extended.

Quote: “Don’t ever stop fighting until the fighting is good and done.”

Old Quote (before latest patch): “Take pride in your work, even if your work is organised murder.”

Hanna Delacroix

Place of birth: Paris, France

An instinctual soldier. Escaped occupied France and now fights alongside British troops to free her homeland. Skilled at evasion and reconnaissance. Experienced in all sorts of long-range weaponry and optics.

Delacroix always means business. Intense, dominant, controlling. She will always find the most effective method of attacking and follow through, even if it puts herself at risk. A gifted marksman and a natural born leader, even with a linguistic barrier. Impatient. Preference for action. Her willingness to push her luck can sometimes put the safety of those depending on her at risk.

Quote: “Leave nothing to chance. Preparation, action, adaptation.”

Same as always, there’s no guarantee that these Battlefield 5 Elite skins will make it into the game, though the chances of it are high. Hopefully, these Battlefield 5 Elite skins won’t be too expensive. For the latest Battlefield 5 news, make sure to bookmark our game hub for the shooter!
