Here’s a Look at the Anthem Customization of the Javelins, New Livestream Taking Place This Week

One of the best things in playing a third-person multiplayer action game is that character customization and personalization is at the forefront given that players (and even you) can see what your character looks like at all times. This is the same with BioWare’s Anthem, and thanks to BioWare we get to see what the Anthem customization for the Colossus class looks like.

Over on Twitter, Technical UX Designer of Anthem Justin Masse, shared an image of his Colossus javelin with his own kind of customization in place.

Looks snazzy, no? If that wasn’t enough, we see another customized javelin image, this time posted by Reddit user iGameYT.

While we don’t know the exact breadth of Anthem customization elements that’ll be in the final game, even at this stage, it looks like we’ll be able to make our javelins look the way we want them to.

If you want to see the javelin customization in action, Anthem Lead Producer Ben Irving mentioned that a new Anthem livestream will take place later this week on Thursday, November 15, where BioWare will give us a tour of the Forge.

Once the livestream’s, uh, live, we’ll be sure to let our readers know.

In other Anthem news, BioWare has revealed that there will be more than three difficulty modes available at launch. The studio is also looking into letting players choose between frame rate optimization or graphical performance for the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X.

Anthem is set for release this February 22, 2019 for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Diablo Immortal Trailer Has Third Highest YouTube Dislike Percentage of All Time, Is the Most Disliked Game Vid of 2018

If you’ve been keeping tabs on gaming news, by now, you most likely have seen the backlash Blizzard Entertainment has gotten when it announced a new Diablo game, Diablo Immortal, at BlizzCon. Why the hate? Simple. Instead of a full-fledged Diablo game, Diablo Immortal is a mobile game, which isn’t really the exact sort of thing that you cap your press conference with.

Well, at the very least, Blizzard can have history  on its back for Diablo Immortal’s reveal trailer. As of press time, the trailer is now the third highest YouTube dislike percentage of all time at 96.3 percent (23,000 likes to 606,000 dislikes computed via Scratch), which puts it in “lofty” company. The only other videos to beat it out in terms of dislikes are Dilma Resistente with “Daniela Mercury convoca mulheres contra Bolsonaro,” and YouTube Help with the “Getting Started With YouTube Heroes” video.

It goes without question that Diablo Immortal is now the most disliked video game trailer of 2018, and given that we’re in November, chances are, this won’t be beat anytime soon. Surprised? Not really, but this is on another level, I admit.

Will this happen again? Given that Blizzard has said that it’s developing more mobile games on their existing IPs, well, that chance might be higher than we thought.

Do you think the hate is warranted or are people overreacting? Let us know what you think in the comments below.

Fallout 76 Day One Patch Is Bigger Than the Actual Game

With almost every big AAA game now needing a day one update, it’s understandable that whatever install size a game is when announced, isn’t the hard disk space allocation we actually need to be able to run it. But have you ever heard of a day one update that was bigger than the actual game? It seems that’s the case with Fallout 76.

At launch day, the Fallout 76 day one update is at a whopping 54GB, which is is even bigger than the game size of “only” 45GB. This Fallout 76 day one update will supposedly fix a lot of bugs discovered during the beta phase. Aside from that, the actual patch notes for the update aren’t known yet, but once the game is out, that info should be made available.

In other Fallout 76 news, go check out this fan-made Fallout 76 map app for Android. You can also read up on the game’s microtransactions called “Atoms” right here. If you’re more interested in gameplay, watch hours of gameplay to see if the game will be your cup of tea.

Sony Patents “Remastering by Emulation,” Adding 4K, HDR, Better Textures & More Without Touching Game Code

Could Sony be readying backwards compatibility with the PS5? It seems Sony Interactive Entertainment America, which is the parent company of the PlayStation brand, has patented “remastering by emulation” over at the United States Patent Office.

Spotted byReddit user AlphaFoxWarfare, this patent sounds similar to what Microsoft has done with the Xbox One X enhanced backwards compatibility, by adding 4K resolution, HDR (high dynamic range), better textures and more but without touching the actual game code.

Each asset such as a texture called for by legacy software such as a legacy computer game software has a unique identifier associated with it. The unique identifier can be rendered by imposing a hash on the asset, and then the asset stored with its identifier in a data structure. An artist remasters the textures for presentation on a higher resolution display than envisioned in the original software, and stores them back in the data structure with their identifiers. The original software is then played on the higher resolution display, with asset (such as texture) calls being intercepted, identified, and the data structure entered to retrieve the remastered asset having a matching identifier. The remastered asset is then inserted on the fly into the game presentation.

You can read the full patent filing right here.

Is this for the PS5? One can hope, right?  Just today, we also posted another Sony patent, and this one is about adding a touchscreen to a gaming controller, which could very well be for the PS5’s input method.

Sony Patents Gaming Controller With a Touchscreen Display, Check Out the Image Explaining the Tech

With Sony finally acknowledging the existence of the PS5, could we finally getting new bits and info regarding the new iteration of the DualShock 4 for the company’s upcoming console?

Related Reading: Sony Patents “Remastering by Emulation,” Adding 4K, HDR, Better Textures & More Without Touching Game Code

Sony Interactive Entertainment America, which is the PlayStation brand of the company, has filed a patent for a gaming controller that has a touchscreen at the United States Patent Office.

A controller for interfacing wirelessly with a computing device is provided, including the following: a housing defined by a main body, a first extension extending from a first end of the main body, and a second extension extending from a second end of the main body, the first extension and the second extension for holding by a first hand and a second hand of a user, respectively; a touchscreen defined along the top surface of the main body between the first extension and the second extension; a first set of buttons disposed on the top surface of the main body proximate to the first extension and on a first side of the touchscreen; and a second set of buttons disposed on the top surface of the main body proximate to the second extension and on a second side of the touchscreen.

It could very well be a new version of the DualShock 4, but given how the current controller has a not-so-good battery life, adding a touchscreen to it might very well make it last for only a few hours at most.

Could this be the new controller for the PS5? Maybe the DualShock 5 if ever Sony decides to stick with the name? Then again, it could very well be a patent that we won’t ever see the actual product come to fruition.

PUBG Coming to Game Pass on Monday, Hellblade in December

During the X018 event earlier today, Microsoft announced that PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds and Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice are both entering the Xbox Game Pass!

The PUBG Game Pass inclusion will happen this Monday, November 12, which means a whole lot more players should be entering the battle royale game soon. As for Hellblade, the single-player game developed by Ninja Theory will be available sometime in December.

If you’re unfamiliar with the Xbox Game Pass, think of it as the Netflix equivalent for Xbox games. Xbox Game Pass is a subscription service from Microsoft for use on the Xbox One, and has a range of games available all for a monthly fee.

If you want to play PUBG on Xbox Now, it’s part of Microsoft’s “Free Play Days for All,” program along with PES 2019. Best hurry though, since this is a limited time offer.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4: Fired Treyarch QA Tester States Studio Only “Gave a Shit” When Big Streamers’ Game Crashed, Leaks More Details

While we’re no strangers to leaks when it comes to Call of Duty, it seems this is the first one wherein the source comes directly involved from a studio. A Reddit user by the name of “CallOfNobodyCares” claims to be a QA (quality assurance) analyst at Treyarch who worked on Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. What makes this leak legit is that he has divulged info regarding Zombies Easter eggs that are true

According to the leaker, there was originally supposed to be a Black Ops 4 campaign, and it was designed to be a 2v2/co-op “race” to finish each mission. This was scrapped due to Treyarch wanting to make too many multiplayer maps, and that there were five missions that were ready for launch before the Black Ops 4 campaign was scrapped mid-2017 to focus on Blackout and Zombies.

Related Black Ops 4 Reading:

Additionally, he said that Treyarch only gave “a shit” when big YouTuber and streamers had their game crash, and they didn’t care if the minority’s game crashed. Check out the list of the other stuff he leaked below.

  • Other Leaks: DLC 1 Is a prequel to the Choas storyline with four new characters.
  • Nuketown Zombies is 100% happening but no date for when.
  • Each DLC pack will have 1 Zombies Map.
  • It is planned to have more maps that follow the Aether Storyline.
  • There are plans to eventually complete and implement a 4v4 mode in zombies. However, there is a possibility that it may be cancelled.
  • The Sprknife quest was last reported as not functioning, or being changed without QA being told, which happens often.
  • The main Classified EE are the cutscene and the WW. There is no EE like the other maps with a boss fight.
  • In the next title update (tu6), Speed Cola will return. It will be automatically equipped as a bonus in-game Vapor when the player has all four main Vapors equipped. It can deactivate and reactivate.
  • Jug was removed because they couldn’t figure out how to fix the issues caused by combining it with armor and they didn’t want to spend more time working on it. It should work fine now and may return since the health and armor systems use separate bars.
  • Treyarch only give a shit when big streamers get their game crashed. They don’t care if the minority’s game crashes
  • The BO4 Campaign mode was worked on until mid 2017 but was scarpped due to wanting to make too many mp maps. It designed to be a 2v2/co-op race to finish each mission.
  • There is one, and only one tester right now assigned to start at round 90 and play with god mode to round 150. He does this for 12 hours every day.
  • There was one EE involved with interacting with something in Ra Basement, but it was removed. It just made the crowd do the Wave. The ciphers translate to quotes by the Priest. He pretty much sees it as his time to fulfill the prophecy of ridding mankind of its weaknesses and forcing what he believes is evolution.

For the list of Zombies leaks, check here.

Of course, given this was a fired employee, there’s a chance that the info divulged isn’t 100 percent accurate. Nonetheless, it’s a good thing to chew on.

Do you think Treyarch cares if the game crashes and its not highlighted by a big YouTuber or streamer?

Someone Spent Almost $1000 in Black Ops 4 Black Market to Reach Max Tier, Wields Only One Weapon Variant

Much has been said already about the community regarding Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s Black Market tiers, and how hard it is to reach the max tier of 200 just by playing. While the Black Market tier is set at 200, it seems you can go beyond that if you spend actual money via Blackjack’s in-game shop.

Someone did just that. YouTuber/gamer MatMicMar spent the max amount of money one can spend on COD Points, which is $1,000, to unlock everything he can. While the each tier offers stickers, emotes, calling cards and other stuff as rewards, the big draw here are the weapon variants that offer unique looks to existing guns in the game. Unfortunately though, he only got one (!) weapon variant for spending a ton of money, which is insane if you think about it. MatMicMar mentions that he even got the “Boombox” variant four times. He did get a message though, which is the image you see above congratulating him on his conquest.

He mentions how he can technically still progress though it’ll only wield duplicates.

Word has gotten around about this and various YouTubers like PrestigeIsKey has even called out Treyarch and Activision about it:

Given Activision has publicly mentioned how the publisher earns over $4 billion dollars a year on microtransactions alone, one would expect they’d be a little less forgiving on these things, no?  Of course, these are just cosmetic items, which don’t mean much to some, but to others, it does.

Do you think Activision and Treyarch should fix how tiers and rewards work in the Black Market or should they leave it as is since it’s just cosmetic items anyway?

Battlefield V Best Weapons for Each Class Listed Based on Time to Kill, Chart & Analysis Stats Revealed

Are you enjoying Battlefield V so far? At this point in the game, you might be wondering which weapons to use in your daily play sessions in DICE’s latest shooter. Most of the time, it boils down to preference, and if it suits your play style. But there’s also another basis that most people use — and that’s time-to-kill (TTK).

In a super detailed post by Reddit user kht120, he measures the time-to-kill of each weapon for each class, and gives a recommendation and why it’s considered the “best” for now.

This measures the time to kill of every gun in the BFV in frames (assuming 60Hz, one frame = 16.66ms), using 100,000 samples of 15 round bursts across a variety of ranges. If a gun does not have 15 rounds in the magazine, it assumes a burst length equal to magazine size.

How to read the charts, and other notes:

  • The hitrater assumes perfect control of vertical recoil, aimed at center mass.
  • Each picture has four charts are concatenated into one. The top two charts are for aimed down sights fire, and the bottom two are for hipfire.
  • The left two charts measure the gun with full upgrades on the left side of the specialization tree (hipfire upgrades, rapid fire, etc.).
  • The right two charts measure the gun with full upgrades on the right side of the specialization tree (ADS accuracy upgrades, etc.).
  • Since these charts only show 15 round dumps, you can achieve better TTK than displayed by 5-round bursting (more on this later).
  • FTK: Frames to kill. To get TTK (time to kill), just multiply numbers by 16.66. Represented in colors, designated on the right side.
  • E[FTK]: Expected frames to kill. A value factoring in average time to kill and the probability of the 15 round burst actually killing the target.
  • U[FTK]: Average frames to kill. A value that is the mean of all the instances where the gun actually killed.
  • Frequency: The number of times a gun killed, out of 100,000 (100K).

Here are the picks as the best Battlefield V weapon for each class:

  • Assault: M1907, Turner, G43
  • Medic: MP40 (max ADS accuracy), MP28, M1928A1 Thompson, Suomi
  • Support: KE7, FG42 (KE7 is the better overall pick), bigmag MG42 for cheesing and bipoding
  • Scout: Autoloading 8 (RoF buff), ZH-29

Explanation as to why each gun was chosen is mentioned below, as well as other musings on which weapons to avoid.

Personal thoughts and opinions about BFV guns, based off the Launch:

  • Although you can now create up to 8 ‘variants’ with the specialization tree, only left-most and right-most paths are chosen for analysis. Not all 8 specialization paths actually result in guns with different performance, as measured here.
  • Semi-autos were made much stronger between the Beta and launch of BFV with RoF buffs for many of them. They’re very worthwhile picks that shouldn’t be underestimated.
  • Support guns also got a big buff across the board between the Beta and launch of BFV. They actually have usable hipfire now, and much better ADSed accuracy.
  • The Autoloading 8 has a 50m 2BTK, and then drops off to 3 BTK. The left side gives you a RoF upgrade from 180 to 200 RPM. Use this side.
  • The Bren got a decent buff between the Beta and launch, and is now usable in hipfire. Still not a worthwhile pick, in my opinion.
  • The Erma EMP is still a great SMG that’s very versatile, but its low velocity holds it back a bit. Not a bad pick, but not a top one either. Left side gives you really good hipfire up to 20m. Right side is more consistent in 20+m ADSed fire.
  • The FG42 got good buffs. Use this gun.
  • The Gewehr 1-5 has a damage model and RoF similar to the AL8 .25 from BF1. The left side of the tree gives you good hipfire. Use this gun, it competes well against SMGs and assault rifles.
  • The Gewehr 43 is extremely good now, getting its rate of fire bumped up from 257 in the Beta to 300. DICE basically made the Beta G43’s RoF buff standard. The left side of the tree gives you solid hipfire. Use it, since SLRs have 100% hitrate for a killing burst out to 140m.
  • The KE7 is very good now. The left side gives you good hipfire and a RoF upgrade from 568 RPM to 635 RPM, and the right side is basically the ADS-maxed Beta StG. USE THIS GUN, with upgrades from the either side. This is what the StG should’ve been.
  • The Lewis Gun is a decently accurate big mag option. Not bad, but not amazing.
  • The M1 Carbine isn’t a good weapon unless you’re good with headshots, which turn it into an extremely good weapon. Otherwise just use the Turner. It requires you to consistently click at 450 RPM to make good use of it, and that’s hard for even good PC players to do. It gets much better hipfire now though.
  • The M1907 might be one of the best guns in the game. It has the highest RoF and best damage model out of all the assault rifles, but is a bit trickier to use. USE THIS GUN.
  • The Thompson is a very good pick. It gives up a little bit of damage output compared to the Suomi for a bit more accuracy. I’d pick it over the Suomi, since it still kills very fast. You have a 900 RPM smallmag or 720 RPM bigmag option. Both are great, but I’d spring for the bigmag option, since you can still kill pretty fast at 720 RPM.
  • The MG34 and MG42 are pretty much unusable hipfiring off the bipod. You’re legitimately better off trying to melee your opponent than you are hipfiring them. These stats assuming non-bipod “ADS” hipfire, where your hipfire box tightens like the BF1 Sentry Elite. The MG34 has 670 and 770 RPM options, and the MG42 has 981 and 1200 RPM options, with big and small mags, respectively for the two. I’d go with the big mag options, since you’re more accurate and can cheese people at range. These are best used on the bipod. Spraying is not optimal off the bipod, but can be done.
  • At 670 RPM, the MP28 is probably the best all-rounder SMG.
  • At 514 RPM, the MP34 is a joke of a submachine gun, and is a great option if you enjoy losing close quarters fights. It’s got great accuracy for ranged use, and you can actually hit people at 100m decently well with single shots or bursts, but at 4-7BTK, you’re hardly melting at range. It’s the best long range SMG in its class, but in my opinion, not versatile enough for actual SMG use.
  • At 540 RPM, the MP40 has actual usable CQB DPS, and can still hit people at 100m. Use this instead of the MP34 or Sten.
  • At 180 RPM, the RSC is similar to the Autoloading 8, with the same 2BTK range. Since the Autoloading 8 has a RoF upgrade option, I’d rather use that.
  • Use the left side upgrade on the 1916. At 225 RPM, it hardly keeps up, so it needs the 257 RPM granted by left side upgrades. You won’t miss the accuracy buffs from the right side until past 140m.
  • The Sten is a bad MP40. See above. The lower vertical recoil and slower vertical recoil acceleration make it an easier pick for new players, but the MP40 does everything better.
  • The Sturmgewehr 1-5 and StG-44 were hit hard. Both are okay midrange options, but are pretty much bad weapons now. They were already worse than SMGs up close back when they had a 4BTK minimum, but they now can’t keep up with SMGs or LMGs up close. Give them their 4BTK minimum back, especially now that SMGs have better hipfire and can cleanly beat them. Support LMGs (with bipods) and semi-automatic weapons also cleanly beat these guns at range. RIP StG, these guns just aren’t worth using at all.
  • The Suomi is still the best CQB DPS hose in the game. While the MG42 technically out-damages it, it’s harder to do so. Like the Beta, pick between 981 RPM smallmag or 770 RPM bigmag options. I’d rather have the Thompson, which gives up a bit of RoF for better accuracy.
  • The Turner is another star of the assault class. Now at 360 RPM standard, it cleanly out-damages the StG-44 and Sturmgewehr 1-5. USE THIS GUN.
  • The ZH-29 gets a base RoF buff from 138 RPM in the Beta to 150 RPM, and has the same RoF buff up to 163 RPM. Don’t snipe, use this 2-2 BTK monster instead. Unless you’re Stodeh and can consistently hit heads, there’s no reason to choose a bolt action over the ZH-29 if you want to win.
  • The winners of BFV Launch balancing was certainly the semi-automatic weapons, with near-universal RoF buffs, and the Support guns, with solid accuracy and hipfire buffs. The losers were the assault rifles, which aside from the M1907, can’t even attempt to compete with SMGs up close, and SMGs, which no longer have a 4BTK range long enough to consistently kill fast from across a room.
  • Weapon balance as a whole is better than Beta, but not significantly. There are still a few duds, and the specialization trees create imbalance issues of their own that I may go into one day.

Note that these are based on launch build stats, and given DICE always tunes its games, there’s bound to be changes on the meta data at some point in the future.

In other Battlefield V news, go check out the list of known issues and bugs with the game to see if DICE knows about any issue you might have with the game. You can also check out the super comprehensive day one patch to know what changes were made.

Activision Nets Over $4 Billion a Year in Microtransactions

Like it or not, almost any AAA game nowadays has some sort of microtransactions built in to make the publisher more money than just the initial game purchase. No stranger to this is Activision, who’s Call of Duty franchise is now expected to have some sort of microtransaction-type system built in with each new entry.

If you’re hoping that microtransactions will go away in the next Call of Duty, or even Destiny title, it seems that won’t be happening anytime soon. In Activision’s latest earnings call, Activision executive Collister Johnson shared that the publisher generates over $4 billion dollars per year!

“First, our team produced new content releases that invigorated distant communities and bring in new audiences. Second, our growing stream of live operations, which includes content, services, features and events that engage our franchise communities and encourage new players to join. Third, the expansion of our existing franchises onto mobile, the world’s largest platform, and the creation of new franchises. And fourth, new and growing franchise engagement revenue models such as esports leagues and digital advertising.

On the first driver, our teams continued to deliver exceptional innovation and execution with major new content releases for Call of Duty, World of Warcraft, and Candy Crush. These content releases reinforce a strong foundation for our second growth driver, live operations. We generate over $4 billion a year in net bookings from in-game content, which represents the growing majority of our net bookings, yet still offer some of the best value per hour in all of entertainment. We see the continued improvement of our live operations model as one of our largest growth opportunities with the potential to generate billions of dollars of high-margin incremental revenue as we deliver year-round in-game content for our community.”

That’s a lot of cheese on top of the usual $60 game purchase, no? Speaking of microtransactions, Activision has admitted that Destiny 2 sales aren’t living up to expectations, with the publisher pushing for the speed which Bungie releases new content, as well as “new opportunities” for microtransactions.

Activision’s latest Cal of Duty title, Black Ops 4, has recently caught the ire of the Call of Duty community given the Black Market’s slow progression with its tier system, which, as you can guess, can be mitigated by spending real world money. However, Treyarch has flipped the switch for this weekend as players will get double tier progression until Monday.

Multiplayer

  • Hardcore
    • SMGs now have a one-hit kill potential at close range in Hardcore.
    • Reduced Armor protection so that all weapons will now kill in 2 hits maximum in Hardcore.
    • Hardcore Team Deathmatch and Hardcore Kill Confirmed now allow 2 of the same Specialist per team.
  • Miscellaneous
    • Resolved an issue where players would not be kicked for inactivity in round-based game modes if the round ended before the kick timer.

Blackout

  • Weapons
    • Paladin HB50
      • Slightly increased damage to reduce headshots required to take out an enemy equipped with Level 3 Armor and 200 Health from a Trauma Kit.
      • Enemies were escaping these fights with 4 Health, so we’re bumping the damage just enough to cover that gap.
  • Equipment
    • Concussion Grenade
      • Players can now change stances after being hit with a Concussion Grenade. While players will still be slowed and overall disoriented, they’ll now have new opportunities to get back to the fight.
      • With the removal of the 9-Bang from Blackout, we’ve added a scaled-back white flash screen effect to the Concussion Grenade, and will monitor the performance of these balance changes closely.
  • Character Missions
    • Changed the descriptions of Character Mission Items to clarify the unlock requirements per playlist (Solo, Duos, or Quads).

In other Black Ops 4 news, Activision has reported that there are more active player users in Black Ops 4 compared to BO3 in its first week weeks of availability.

Call of Duty Franchise Revenue Higher Than the MCU, Black Ops 4 Has 16% More Active Users Compared to BO3

We all know how big of a franchise Call of Duty is, right? But did you know that it’s so big that it even beats out the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) in terms of revenue earned, and even doubles that of of the entire Star Wars saga?

This was revealed during Activision’s earnings call where Activision big cheese Bobby Kotick shared the following:

“Our engagement to date is better than any Call of Duty content in recent years, and spectator viewing is higher than ever before. As a franchise, Call of Duty has now generated more revenue than the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the box office, and double that of the cumulative box office of Star Wars. We have an exciting future planned for Call of Duty players, including our new Call of Duty professional player opportunities, and lots of exciting new content in 2019 and beyond.”

In another part of the call, Activision exec Collister Johnson compares Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 to Black Ops 3, and how total active users, engagement and hours played is up.

“Unit sell-through after the first three weeks is pacing ahead of Black Ops 3, PC sell-through more than 3 times higher, and with significant shifts to full-game downloads. Total active users in the first three weeks are up 16% over Black Ops 3, with strong growth across all modes, and engagement and hours played is up over 20% versus Black Ops 3. So it’s worth underscoring that given Black Ops 3 generated more in-game net bookings than any other Call of Duty title, this level of engagement in Black Ops 4 should result in strong in-game revenue in Q4 and into 2019.”

Surprised? Bear in mind though, the Call of Duty franchise was around first (way back in 2003), though it’s still an impressive feat.

Activision: Destiny 2 Sales Failed to Meet Expectations, Speed Up New Content & New Opportunities for Monetization

If you’ve been keeping tabs on Destiny 2 news, you might have seen that Activision has made the game free on PC for a limited time, and has even rolled out free trials for the PvP mode of its newest expansion, Destiny 2: Forsakan’s Gambit mode. As it turns out, there’s a very good reason for that, and it’s due to low Destiny 2 sales.

This was revealed in Activision’s latest earnings call. Here’s an excerpt of what Activision exec Collister Johnson said regarding Destiny 2. While monthly active users were up from Q2, the publisher admits the game did not meet internal commercial expectations, and that there’s work to do in order to reengage the Destiny 2 fan base.

Activision monthly active users were 46 million, up sequentially from Q2. This sequential growth was driven by Destiny’s expansion, Forsaken, and by new reach initiatives, which grew Destiny monthly active users quarter on quarter and year over year. Now while Forsaken is a high-quality expansion with strong engagement and new modes of play, it did not achieve our commercial expectations, and there’s still work to do to fully reengage the core Destiny fan base.

In another part of the call, Spencer Adam Neumann, also from Activision, stated that for the fourth-quarter and full-year outlook, the publisher wants to improve the speed of new content releases for Destiny 2, and to “provide new opportunities for monetization.”

Our recent major launches for World of Warcraft, Call of Duty, and Candy were all very successful and will set the stage for continued opportunities in 2019. Some of our other franchises, like Destiny, are not performing as well as we’d like, and we’re working to accelerate the pace of live operations innovation and improve the speed with which we release new content to keep our players engaged and to provide new opportunities for monetization.

Anyone surprised by this? If you’re a Destiny 2 player, how can Activision add in new monetizatino opportunities without making the game a grind? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.

DICE has released the official Battlefield V launch trailer and it looks fantastic! Check out some of the cinematic viewpoints players can expect when playing the shooter, as well as some “Battlefield Moments” that are just flat-out insane.

Interspersed  within the cinematics and gameplay are quotes from publications noting how good the game has been so far. The cherry on the sundae is the sweeping Battlefield theme song that should get fans hyped up for the first-person shooter.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Sales Are Now at Over 17 Million in Just 12 Days

While Rockstar Games has already announced how commercially successful Red Dead Redemption 2 is, it seems the game isn’t done — not by a long shot.

As part of Take-Two Interactive’s earnings report, the company mentioned that currently, Red Dead 2 sales numbers are through the roof as the game has now sold-in over 17 million units worldwide!

On October 26th, Rockstar Games launched its highly-anticipated Red Dead Redemption 2, the label’s first game built from the ground up for the current console generation. Red Dead Redemption 2 has received outstanding reviews, with numerous critics awarding the title a perfect score. The title is now tied with Grand Theft Auto V as the highest rated title on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with a 97 Metacritic score. A massive commercial success, Red Dead Redemption 2 has set numerous records, including achieving the biggest opening weekend in the history of entertainment, with over $725 millionin retail sell-through during its first three days. Red Dead Redemption 2 sold-in more units in its first 8 days than the original blockbuster Red Dead Redemption sold in its first 8 years and, as of today, the title has sold-in over 17 million units worldwide.

Bear in mind, that this number is bound to skyrocket even more once Black Friday, Christmas rolls in, and we don’t even have the game’s online component, Red Dead Online, available yet.

Surprised? I’m not. Will Red Dead Redemption 2 manage to hold on to the sales charts as Grand Theft Auto V? If any game can do it, it’d be Rockstar’s latest opus.
