This enables/disables the auto run feature on controllers.

Auto run, which was introduced in v2.3.0, is enabled by double clicking the left thumb stick on controllers.

Bug Fixes

Fixed a few landscape areas that were barely below floor height before.

This sometimes caused the majority of a structure to appear underground.

Players can now shoot through the Soccer goal.

GENERAL

Added “3D Resolution” slider to Video options on PC and Mac.

This new preference allows you to set the resolution of the 3D world, without affecting the user interface.

The range goes between 640×360 and your selected Display Resolution. Using a lower 3D Resolution may greatly improve frame rate.

When selecting an overall Quality option, an appropriate 3D Resolution will be chosen automatically.

Spectating

Added spectator count UI to the HUD. This appears in game as a small eye in the lower left corner when there are active spectators. Better off not knowing? There is also an option to disable the feature under game options labeled “Show Spectator Count”.

Bug Fixes

Removed an unnecessary button prompt on the left side of the news widget.

Added a border highlight around item shop tiles when selecting them on consoles.

Fixed the floor under the hero not showing up when previewing emotes in the locker or item shop

Fixed emotes being offset if they were viewed in succession.

Optimized the colored rarity effect on weapons and items to improve overall performance.

Colors may appear to look slightly different.

Destiny 2 Update News: Sandbox Changes, Movement Feedback & Shoulder Charge

Destiny 2 Update News: Sandbox Changes, Movement Feedback & Shoulder Charge

The latest “This Week at Bungie” blog post features plenty of Destiny 2 update news, including sandbox changes, tweaks to movement, and more.

Bungie’s “dmg04” player support member introduced the post, before handing things over to Design Lead Josh Hamrick.

Here’s what Hamrick had to say about Destiny 2 upcoming changes:

Hello again! We’ve been promising more details about our work on the Destiny 2 Sandbox, so here we are.

Before we get started I want to lend some context. The Sandbox Team is currently working on lots of updates for Destiny 2. Over the next several months, as those various delivery dates approach, there will be many visits from me or one of my teammates. Know that we’ll be chatting with you again and again to share more details with you as we acquire them. This meal will span many courses. Here’s the first…

We’ve begun playtesting a series of changes that you will have in your hands in the next few months. Sandbox is lovingly begun to refer to this series of changes as the “Go Fast Update.” These are the changes we are currently playtesting. They’re not guaranteed to ship, but the outlook is good at this point.

Our goals for this round are to provide individual players with more hero moments by increasing overall speed and mobility, increasing the amount of supers you charge to demolish your enemies, and increasing the frequency and impact of our most montage worthy power weapons, especially in the Crucible.

Here’s what we’re doing:

All three glides plus Catapult and Strafe Lift have been retuned and buffed to make them more unique and faster.

The mobility stat has had its range expanded and been completely retuned as well. In short, everyone gets faster and the high end is higher.

The players’ ground speed cap has been increased, allowing for faster total movement speed, regardless of how you may get there.

Arcstrider, Sentinel, and Striker all move faster, and at the same speed as one another, while in their Supers.

Arcstrider, as a whole, is performing well in PvP but mostly due to its neutral game perks. We’ve made the following changes in an effort to get the Super to be a more competitive option:

Faster Attack Animations.

Faster Dodge Animations.

Increased range of all attacks.

Supers recharge faster for everyone!

We’ve buffed several weapon archetypes (including, but not limited to, Hand Cannons, Pulse Rifles, Sniper Rifles, and Shotguns) and a few specific perks, as well.

A key goal here is to make Shotguns, Snipers, and Fusion rifles more prevalent in the game.

We’ve also been working side-by-side with our friends on PvP to increase the pace of PvP combat and the frequency of power play. Here’s a sneak peek at their hard work:

Player respawn times for all Quickplay modes have been decreased.

Power Ammo respawn timers for all Quickplay modes have been reduced ~30%.

Power Ammo respawn timers in Survival have been reduced ~40%.

Power Ammo respawn timers in Countdown have been reduced ~25%.

Ammo counts have been adjusted in relation to these timers, and in relation to weapon type.

Enemy players now drop their power ammo on death.

The dropped brick is available to anyone until picked up or 30 seconds have passed.

Finally, the Shoulder Charge changes that went in a couple of months ago have been fully reverted. Shoulder Charge’s movement utility was perceived as more valuable than its damage utility, which made it feel bad to actually hit someone with Shoulder Charge. The movement was effectively a “free” dodge.

The goal of the untargeted distance nerf was to discourage using the ability as a movement mode by making it only effective when using it against enemies. In retrospect, we think this change was a mistake and we’ve heard you all say the same. We believe there are a number of gameplay atoms like this that perform or are used differently than we expected but are thoroughly enjoyed nonetheless. In the future, we want to embrace the state of gameplay atoms like that and balance around it, not against it.

One final note that will be important to all the snipers out there. Many of you have rightfully complained that Snipers flinch too hard when you’re taking hits, especially as they are now power weapons. We have dug into this and found that somewhere along the way towards shipping D2, we acquired a bug that is preventing us from being able to successfully tune this to the values that we would all like. While the current batch of changes we are playtesting go a long way to bringing snipers back to where they should be, this bug will still prevent them from feeling perfect. That bug, which we are actively working on fixing, requires some deep changes to the art of each of the individual snipers in the game. That will take us a while to stomp out. We’ll get it fixed and pushed out to you as soon as we possibly can.

Like I mentioned, this is the first part in a series of Sandbox Updates that we hope you come to enjoy. As these changes continue to solidify, we’ll have more to say. The next items on our agenda after these changes include the mod system rework (which we plan to use to buff ability cooldowns) and the Exotic balance pass. We’re also continuing to evaluate Destiny 2’s weapon slot system and how all the different types of weapons in Destiny fit into the game, how they are being played, and what we can do to improve that experience. Expect to hear more from us about that in a future update.

Until next time,

-Hamrick

I’m sure players appreciate Bungie going into detail about upcoming changes, with the developers putting in the effort to explain the process. It’s certainly great to see this level of transparency.

In other Destiny 2 news, several top Destiny YouTubers have lessened their support of the game, Bungie is hiring a new community manager, and the developer explains the faction rewards throttle and incoming adjustments. It also appears that the Destiny 2 Gods of Mars expansion has leaked (again)!

Fortnite Minigun Update Time Delayed, Epic Games Talks Building Mechanics Changes

Fortnite Minigun Update Time Delayed, Epic Games Talks Building Changes

It seems Epic Games still has a case of the hiccups, with the Fortnite minigun update time being delayed. There’s no clear ETA, either, which means players could be waiting a long while until they can finally wield the minigun weapon.

The silver lining here is the level of communication on display. For anyone following @FortniteGame on Twitter, you’ll know that they are keen to keep the community informed. What’s more, Epic Games regularly posts on the game’s subreddit with new information.

Epic Games’ “MrPopTFS” created a Reddit thread explaining the Fortnite minigun update time delay, while also talking about changes to building mechanics.

Here’s the full post:

We hear your concerns regarding bugs that you are experiencing since V.2.3.0, especially those regarding building. It’s taking us longer than expected to fix these issues and we’re working through some major ones. If we’re unable to fix them today the v2.4.0 release will be delayed. Once we have a better idea of when the patch will arrive we’ll update everyone.

In order to help make building feel better we’ll be reverting to the building bar system that was present in V.2.2.0. We intend on finding a more permanent fix to make building and item selection feel more crisp in the future. We’ve also added some tools to help us better diagnose in-game issues when new bugs do arise.

Be sure to check the patch notes again because we’ve added more items to the “Known Bugs” section. In addition to that, we’ve also created a “Fixed Bugs” section to inform every one of the immediate fixes we’ve done that delayed this patch.

Note: We have bugs that will come in with the v.2.4.0 release, see the Known Bugs section at the top of our notes for a full list. Please continue to let us know about anything new you find once V.2.4.0 does release

Thank you for your continued patience.

Fortnite Minigun Update Time

Stay tuned for more updates on the Fortnite minigun update time! Here’s hoping it arrives soon!

Are you looking forward to the Fortnite minigun? What other weapons do you want to see featured in the Battle Royale portion? Let us know.

In other Fortnite news, players are to be compensated for the downtime and party issues, here’s the latest community stats showcase, and Epic Games is ending support for Paragon this April.

Monster Hunter World 1.04 Update Crawls Out After Yesterday’s Update (Update)

Monster Hunter World 1.04 Update Creeps Out Just a Day After Yesterday’s Patch!

Update:

The Japanese official Monster Hunter World Twitter account has tweeted the update!

Using Google Translate, it shows this:

Update 1.04 Overview ● major changes and the mission quests that had occurred rarely during online play “Forest Wild Anjanav” may not be registered on the Quest Board, Fixed to be registered on the Quest board. A part of the calculation of the Dragon sealing power was reviewed. ● other bug fixes.

Asking around on Reddit, someone translated it and said it’s the following:

  • changes to elder seal calculations
  • fixed posting of a specific quest
  • admitted 5 mil event is bugged and to be fixed at a later date

There you go, then!

Original Story:

While we just had a Monster Hunter World game update yesterday, it seems Capcom rolled another one out today! The Monster Hunter World 1.04 update is out now, and is only at 81MB.

People on the Monster Hunter World subreddit have said that yesterday’s patch, which should have fixed matchmaking, didn’t take, so this might be a band aid patch by Capcom to finally fix things. For those who didn’t catch it, the Monster Hunter World update from yesterday had these notes:

Major changes for Xbox One:

  • Fixed all matchmaking functionality issues for Xbox One players, including “Matchmake”, “Filter Search”, “Squad Sessions Session” and “Respond to SOS”.

Major changes for PS4 and Xbox One:

  • Fixed a rare issue with gathering points and bounties not working correctly; points counter were not updating correctly.
  • Fixed two issues with the Hunting Horn: Players would sometimes be unable to dodge-cancel while playing an Encore; The initial shockwave blast when playing a song sometimes wouldn’t happen.

Both patches are roughly the same size, too, so this might be a re-implementation of it to make sure it actually works. Once we get official patch notes, we’ll be sure to update the post.

If you still haven’t bought the game yet, you might want to try it out, as millions of gamers can’t be wrong, right? You can check out our review of Monster Hunter World right here.

Motiga Announces Gigantic Servers Set to Close in July

Motiga Gigantic Servers Announcement…

Fans of the free-to-play MOBA, Gigantic are in for some bad news today as Motiga, the studio responsible for Gigantic, have announced that they will be shutting down the servers relatively soon.

How soon you may ask? Well, according to the developer post detailing the shutdown, the servers are set to go down for good this upcoming July 31, 2018! Motiga is still giving those who want to give Gigantic one last go have some time to do so before it’s gone forever. Though, the news of the game shutting down shouldn’t come to much of a surprise if you were keeping up with the game in the past couple of months, as Perfect Worlds, Motiga’s publisher announced that they laid off a good portion of Gigantic’s team back in November.

In addition to the news of Gigantic shutting down, Motiga revealed the last patch Gigantic is set to get. Which is currently live now. You can read all the details of it here.

In other news, Paragon is also receiving the same fate as Gigantic, as recently Epic announced that they will shutting down the game in April. As to why feel free to read our coverage of it here.

Monster Hunter World Weakness Chart Makes It Easy to See Weakness and Resistances

Monster Hunter World Weakness Chart Will Help You Out!

If there’s one thing players will be doing a lot of in Monster Hunter World, it’s going to be hunting down and slaying monsters (hence the title). While it might seem easy at the first part of the game, a world of hurt will be making its way to you if you don’t know the weaknesses of certain monsters at the later parts of the game.

Well, thankfully, Reddit user azuraith4, you can now check every monster’s weakness, and resistance all in one go!

It’s definitely easier to check this list than having to load up a site or video every time, no? Of course knowing the weakness and resistances aren’t enough, you have to craft the appropriate weapons and armors, and have the necessary skills to take down each too.

In other Monster Hunter World news, there’s a new game update that rolled out earlier today, which you should check out to see what changed. If you still haven’t picked the game up, make sure to read up on our review and see why we say”Monster Hunter World is one monster you’ll want to take home and nurture.”

Dota 2 Updates Now Set to Go Out Every Two Weeks for the Next Six Months

Dota 2 Updates Now Set to Go Out Every Two Weeks!

While Dota 2 players are used to getting big patches spread out over the course of 12 months, that will be changing very, very soon.

Over on Twitter, Dota creator IceFrog has announced that they’re shaking up the Dota 2 updates, and how they’re rolled out. The dev team will now release small patches every two weeks on Thursdays for the next six months!

If you can’ts see the tweets, it reads:

We want to try taking a different approach to how gameplay patches are released. Instead of big patches a couple of times a year, we’ll be releasing small patches every 2 weeks on Thursdays. We’ll be trying this out for about six months and then reevaluating.

To make it easier to keep track of changes, we’ll also be releasing a new in-game feature to notify you of any recent changes to heroes in your match.

Hopefully, this helps hero balancing and means players get nerfs and buffs at a steadier pace.

Do you like this approach or should Valve stick to their usual schedule?

Nintendo Switch Paid Online Launching September 2018

Nintendo Switch Paid Online Launching September 2018

Following reports late last year that Nintendo was pushing the Nintendo Switch Online service to sometime in “fall 2018,” the company has now announced just when we’ll be able to pay for a better online experience!

The Nintendo Switch paid online service will roll out in September 2018! This was announced by the official Nintendo Twitter account.

If you want/need more info regarding the Nintendo Switch paid online service — and I don’t blame you — we’re here to shed some light on it.

Pricing will be $3.99 for one month, $7.99 for three months, and $19.99 for a full 12-month membership. Paying members will get to download a compilation of classic titles with online play like Super Mario Bros. 3, Balloon Fight and more.  You can check out the comparison of the paid and free online versions below.

For those who would rather not pay, don’t forget that what we have now is just a free trial period, and according to Nintendo’s own words, “most games will require a paid online service subscription from Nintendo to play online.”

You can read up on more details about the premium online service from Nintendo’s site.

While it’s significantly cheaper than paying for PlayStation Plus and Xbox Live, it seems the service is more bare bones as well. Of course, if you love gaming on the Switch, this is a no-brainer purchase.

Mario Movie Made in Partnership With Illumination, Mario Kart Tour Coming to Mobile

While much of the world was asleep last night, Nintendo was busy making waves, revealing new game announcements, and even a movie.

Nintendo is partnering with Illumination to create the Mario movie. These are the folks behind Despicable Me and the Minions franchises.

There isn’t much known about the Mario movie, other than that it will be an “animated film based on the immersive world of Super Mario Bros.” So no real-life actors this time around!

As for the Mario Kart Tour game, that was announced on Twitter.

We can expect Mario Kart Tour to be released before the end of March 2019.

Movies and mobile games! It looks like Nintendo is wising up to where even more big bucks can be made. At this rate, it’ll be taking over the universe!

In other Nintendo news, Reggie Fils-Aime spoke about the new Nintendo Labo, a German Ratings Board thought the Labo was trash, and Mario Tennis Aces was revealed.

New PUBG Cheat Prevention Blocks Reshade, Game Made Over $700 Million Last Year

The folks over at PUBG Corp. have introduced new PUBG cheat prevention measures, which should help stop hackers from ruining honest gamers’ fun.

Unfortunately, for fans of the visual-altering Reshade tool, which bumps up a game’s sharpness and saturation to make things clearer, that tactic will no longer work.

PUBG Community Coordinator “PUBG_RoboDanjal” explained the changes on the game’s official forums, specifically naming Reshade as being blocked:

We are testing a new anti cheat solution on our test servers this week and it is to block cheats more effectively. This will also block 3rd party programs that modify the gameplay or visuals in an invasive way. Reshade is one of the programs that will be blocked by this measure.

We are first testing the anti-cheat solution on our test servers.

When this is implemented on the live servers, such programs will be blocked. We will provide more updates when they become available.

I guess players will just have to put up with the dreary and muddy visuals. Oh well, at least it puts everyone on a level playing field.

In other PUBG news, we can now quantify in a dollar amount just how successful the game was in its launch year. During 2017, PUBG‘s total revenue came to $712 million. And remember, the game was only out for eight months of the year.

Will you miss Reshade? Do let us know if you find any alternatives!

Red Dead Redemption 2 Release Date Announced, Coming October 26!

Red Dead 2 Release Date Finally Here!

Rockstar just dropped a bomb this early in the morning as the studio has announced the Red Dead Redemption 2 release date is now set for October 26, 2018!

This announcement was accompanied by a letter, and a bunch of screenshots that look very, very impressive.

Dear All,

We are excited to announce that Red Dead Redemption 2 will be released on October 26th 2018. We apologize to everyone disappointed by this delay. While we had hoped to have the game out sooner, we require a little extra time for polish.

We sincerely thank you for your patience and hope that when you get to play the game, you will agree the wait will have been worth it. In the meantime, please check out these screenshots from the game. We look forward to sharing a lot more information with you in the coming weeks.

With thanks,
Rockstar Games

Needless to say, color us excited! We’re just a few months out from October, and barring any unforeseen delays, cowpokes everywhere will be able to oil their saddle, load their six-shooters, and wrangle some cattle very soon!

Will this get delayed again? I sure hope not. This is one of those cases where we hope we’re wrong when it comes to predicting games that will get pushed back.

343 Provides Halo: The Master Chief Collection Development Update

343 Industries has provided a development update for Halo: The Master Chief Collection, which talks about the future of the game, and what upcoming improvements and changes players can expect.

343 also mention the “next Halo FPS title,” which has the bulk of the development team working on it.

The update goes into a lot of detail, especially in the networking portion, which makes for a lengthy post. Thankfully, Reddit user reiku78 has done us all a favor by offering a short summary:

  • They will probably be using the Xbox Insider Program to allow public testing of changes to the game, will start off small but will become opt-in, they are aiming for a March 2018 start
  • The matchmaking API’s will be updated meaning more reliable and stable party management as well as matchmaking
  • All of the game engines will be updated, meaning all 8 games could feature increased resolution, visual enhancements as well as possible support for Xbox Arena, custom game browser & mixer support, this includes that all games will include retiling game textures, recompiled shaders this will result in a big re-download of the game when the update is released, at the moment MCC is at 61GB so probably expect the update to probably be around the same or possibly larger
  • There will also be faster game to game transition time, better UI consistency and will also means that it will be easier for them to get us in to games quicker after the previous session has ended
  • The games network code has been overhauled meaning that they can now work around NAT setting issues meaning that you should have less issues of joining other people
  • It also seems that dedicated servers will be guaranteed for all match made games meaning less chances of games being peer hosted
  • This update will not affect the development of the next Halo FPS game, as it is a completely different project and only a small part of 343i are working on the update, the rest are working on the next Halo FPS title

Sounds like a solid plan to me, with changes that all Halo: MCC players will appreciate. And it’s also good to hear about the next Halo game, which I know is hotly-anticipated by Xbox One (and PC?!) owners!

Asia’s PS Plus February 2018 Lineup Shakes Things Up

The PS Plus February 2018 line-up of games for NA and EU players isn’t particularly impressive, with many gamers voicing their disappoint across forums and social media. The highlights of Knack and RiME aren’t really anything special, when compared to better months.

On the Asia PS Plus February 2018 side of things, the featured games differ wildly.

If you have an Asia PS Plus account, these are the games you’ll be getting next month:

PS Plus February 2018 Line-Up: Asia

  • Evolve
  • Mighty No 9
  • Grand Kingdom
  • NieR Music Concert

PS Plus February 2018 Line-Up: NA & EU

  • Knack (PS4)
  • RiME (PS4)
  • StarBlood Arena (PS Plus bonus – PS VR required)
  • Spelunker HD (PS3)
  • Mugen Souls Z (PS3)
  • Exiles End (PS Vita)
  • Grand Kingdom (PS Vita & PS4)

Which set of games would you prefer? I think Asia takes February 2018 for me, with the NieR Music Concert being the unique icing on the cake. Let us know your winner in the comments below.

Monster Hunter World 1.03 Update Stomps Out, Here’s the Patch Notes

Capcom just rolled out the new Monster Hunter World 1.03 update on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One (1.0.0.8), and it’s live!

It’s a super small 84MB download, fortunately for us, Capcom also supplied the patch notes!

  • Fixed two issues with the Hunting Horn:
    • Players would sometimes be unable to dodge-cancel while playing an Encore;
    • The initial shockwave blast when playing a song sometimes wouldn’t happen.

Not a lot of fixes for this patch, but then again, aside from the online issues, the game has been as close to perfect so far — a fact we noted in our review. It seems the gaming community is in agreement as World has already sold over 1.3 million units in Japan in the first three days alone, and over five million worldwide.

What changes should Capcom fix or tweak in Monster Hunter World ASAP? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
