Call of Duty: WWII Getting Patch Later Tonight or Tomorrow

After numerous reports of server issues, in-game glitches and more for Call of Duty: WWII, Sledgehammer Games now has promised a patch will be released “tonight/tomorrow.”

This was announced by Sledgehammer Games boss Michael Condrey over on Twitter, where he also thanked fans for their patience.

If you couldn’t see the embedded tweet, it says:

#CODWWII game update coming tonight/tomorrow morning. Thank you so much for your continued patience. We’re working around the clock to address improvements and open items in order to make the game the best possible for fans. Stay tuned to @SHGames for more details.

While Condrey didn’t mention anything specific other than items from Supply Drops not working as intended, hopefully, this means that the Prestige bug, and most of the known issues will be cleared up. And of equal importance, let’s hope the beta changes that were promised makes their way into the new patch too.

Once the game update hits, we’ll be sure to let our readers know.

EA Acquires Titanfall Developer Respawn Entertainment for Over $400 Million

While the first two Titanfall games were published by EA (Electronic Arts), the studio responsible for the titles, Respawn Entertainment, was independent, which meant they could work for other publishers, and they owned the Titanfall IP.

Well, not anymore. Today, EA has announced that it has acquired Respawn Entertainment for a cool $315 million in cash and stock, plus a possible bonus of $140 million. EA will pay $151m in cash, and up to $164m in long-term equity, along with some variable cash consideration tied to performance milestones through the end of 2022.

According to the announcement, EA takes “full control” of the studio along with its projects like Titanfall 3, the Star Wars game it’s working on for the studio, and the VR game Respawn teased about last month.

Vince Zampella, CEO and co-founder of Respawn said the following:

We have worked together a long time from the inception of the studio. [An acquisition] has come up from time to time. The question was, where we are in the industry, how do we take the next step in making bigger, better games. We see the need for bigger resources to make bigger games.

Of course, this couldn’t have come at a worse time given EA just closed down Visceral Games (Dead Space, Battlefield Hardline) last month. According to EA Executive VP Patrick Soderlund, the two are unrelated, and cites the studio closure was a “creative decision.”

Zampella reassured fans that Respawn is still Respawn, and this doesn’t change the future of Titanfall.

For fans, my message is we are still Respawn and we are going to make things better. It doesn’t change the future of Titanfall. Only positives come from it, like more resources.

Andrew Wilson, EA CEO, also shared his sentiment of the acquisition as well.

We’ve seen firsthand the world-class caliber of Respawn as a development studio with incredible vision, deep talent and an inspiring creative mindset. Our longtime partnership is grounded in a shared desire to push the boundaries and deliver extraordinary and innovative new experiences for players around the world. Together, we’ve brought this to life in the Titanfall franchise, and now with the Respawn team joining EA, we have exciting plans to accomplish even more amazing things in the future.

Respawn Entertainment is based in Chatsworth, California, and employs 205 employees, and the company will continue to hire for open spots.

Does this mean Respawn will use Frostbite? Will the developer make their own spin on Battlefield? Lots of questions remain unanswered, but whatever the case is, let’s hope Titanfall 3 doesn’t get put in a bad release date window like Titanfall 2.

PUBG Developer Reveals New MMORPG Ascent: Infinite Realm

What a surprise this is! While working on PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, it seems that developer Bluehole has also been trying their hand at making an MMORPG called “Ascent: Infinite Realm.”

The game was announced alongside a reveal trailer, which includes early gameplay and a general overview of the game’s major features.

Take a look at the 5-minute trailer:

https://youtu.be/uvZo59uhz5E

Welcome to A:IR, the groundbreaking new MMORPG from
the developers that brought you Tera and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds.

Get ready for an amazing world filled with Airships, Dragons, Magic & Excitement!

Ascent: Infinite Realm will have a variety of classes. Five of these classes have been detailed so far, and you can find their descriptions below.

Sorceress – Master of the Arcane Arts

With her keen senses and an innate gift for sorcery, the Sorceress commands an arsenal of elemental magic. Although she lacks the full defense of other classes, she more than compensates for this by obliterating enemies from afar.

Mystic – Nature’s Blessing Incarnate

Behind her child-like appearance, a Mystic commands the powers of nature. Mystics aid their allies through healing magic, while chastising attackers from afar. Do not let their misleading appearance fool you into thinking otherwise; Mystics are very formidable.

Warlord – Stalwart Battlefield Commander

The Warlord needs no elaborate words to describe himself; his battle prowess speaks for itself. Endowed with superior physique, the Warlord wields gigantic weapons at the front line to protect his allies and claim glorious victory in battle.

Assassin – Cruel Kiss of Death

A whisper in the dark and the flash of steel are the only signs of an Assassin. These purveyors of death offer little in the way of remorse; lethal damage is their forte. Should you be unfortunate enough to find the wrong side of their blades, prepare your last words.

Gunslinger – Battle Hardened Marksman

Gunslingers have a unflinching resolve and treat the battlefield like a playground. Whether it is landing an impossible shot or unleashing a volley of powerful blasts, a Gunslinger will always shape the battle in their favor. Be careful never to cross one or you will be surprised.

What do you think of Ascent: Infinite Realm? Think it could become as big as PUBG?

In other PUBG news, a recent update rolled out to Test Servers but didn’t include the hotly-anticipated vaulting feature, the Xbox One release date is now confirmed, and read up on Greene’s plans for the game

EA Influencer: Star Wars Battlefront II is “Still Pay to Win”

Despite attempts to make the game’s loot box system and microtransactions more palatable, Star Wars Battlefront II is “still pay to win.”

YouTube video creator and EA Influencer, XfactorGaming, has posted a video showing just how big an advantage players can get, if they put down the extra dollars and buy microtransactions.

Xfactor immediately discloses that the video is not sponsored by EA (in contrast to other Battlefront II videos he’s made), before continuing to show off his powerful, paid-for classes and buffs.

In addition to the video, Xfactor tweeted out the following:

After dropping $90 on the premium Crystal currency and unlocking powerful new cards, Xfactor also notes the upside of not having to buy new maps, modes and new characters. There is no season pass, and so all players get access to additional future content.

Do you think saying “no” to a season pass and “yes” to this loot box system was the right way to go? Or would you have preferred to see something different? Let us know!

In other Star Wars Battlefront II news, take a look at Kylo Ren going up against Yoda in this epic lightsaber duel, the game’s producer claims that “loot boxes are sometimes a necessity,” and it’s likely that the game will be discounted during the time of The Last Jedi launch.

Hunt: Showdown Alpha Signups Now Open, Register to Play Crytek’s Upcoming Game

Hunt: Showdown alpha access can now be applied for. Simply head here and enter your email address. Once the closed alpha launches this winter, you could be contacted with instructions on how to play.

If you’ve managed to avoid the buzz surrounding Crytek’s new project, there’s already plenty of information available on the monster-hunting adventure title, which features both PvE and PvP modes.

Take a look at the trailer below:

https://youtu.be/I4GHDnLSmmc

And here’s the official rundown of what Hunt: Showdown offers in terms of gameplay and fun:

Savage, nightmarish monsters roam the Louisiana swamps, and you are part of a group of rugged bounty hunters bound to rid the world of their ghastly presence. Banish these creatures from our world, and you will be paid generously—and given the chance to buy more gruesome and powerful weapons. Fail, and death will strip you of both character and gear. Your experience, however, remains in your pool of hunters—called your Bloodline—always.

HIGH RISK, HIGH REWARD, HIGH TENSION

Hunt’s competitive, match-based gameplay mixes PvP and PvE elements to create a uniquely tense experience where your life, your character, and your gear are always on the line. At the beginning of each match, up to five teams of two set out to track their monstrous targets. Once they’ve found and defeated one of these they will receive a bounty—and instantly become a target for every other Hunter left on the map. If you don’t watch your back, you’ll find a knife in it, and your last memory will be of another team of Hunters walking away with your prize. The higher the risk, the higher the reward–but a single mistake could cost you everything.

PROGRESSION

Even in death, you will be able to progress among the ranks of Hunters via your Bloodline. Though one character may die, their experience will be transferred to your Bloodline, where it can be applied your other Hunters. If you make it off of the map alive, you will be able to use the money and experience you earn to kit out new Hunters and prepare for the next match. If you die, you lose everything but your experience.

DARK SIGHT

Dark Sight allows Hunters to see into the veil between worlds, making that which cannot be seen by mortal eyes visible to those who have been initiated. Use Dark Sight when you are tracking monsters, and a ghostly light will guide you toward your next target. Dark Sight also marks players carrying a bounty, making them more vulnerable to ambush while trying to escape.

Have you signed up to the alpha? Looking forward to testing out Hunt: Showdown? Let us know.

In other news, there’s a free LawBreakers weekend happening this weekend along with a big discount, Blizzard has claimed Overwatch doesn’t belong in the loot box controversy, and Ubisoft believe that PS5 and the next Xbox are a minimum of two years away

This Star Wars Battlefront II Yoda vs Kylo Ren Lightsaber Duel Is a Must-Watch

In case you didn’t know, Star Wars Battlefront II is now available in EA Early Access for the Xbox One and PC. While gamers can only play the game for 10 hours, it’s more than enough to get a good feel of the multiplayer, and in some cases, make awesome videos/.gifs!

Over on Reddit, user CrackyRabbit posted a Star Wars Battlefront II clip that has Yoda going up against Kylo Ren, and it looks fantastic. Don’t believe me? Give it a watch yourself. And before anyone asks, yes, the game mixes the eras together for gameplay purposes.

The Force Push at the end by Yoda just adds to the epic-ness of it all, no? I’m pretty sure my Hero battles in Battlefront II won’t look this awesome, and will mostly consist of me flailing about like a madman.

For more on Star Wars Battlefront II, go check out gameplay footage of all Heroes compiled in one clip. In case you didn’t know, the game will have loot boxes, which the game’s producer says is a “necessity” sometimes.

Star Wars Battlefront II will force its way out this November 17 on the PS4, Xbox One and PC.

Blizzard: Overwatch Doesn’t Belong in Loot Box Controversy

There’s been a lot of discussion happening lately regarding loot crates due to AAA games like Call of Duty: WWII and Star Wars Battlefront II (just to name a few) implementing it in their games. While the ESRB might not deem it as a form of gambling, a lot of gamers are still not OK with it.

While COD: WWII might be taking some flack for its Supply Drops, and Battlefront II for its loot crates, it seems one of the more prominent games has remained unscathed. I’m, of course, talking about Blizzard’s Overwaatch, which some people might point to as the progenitor of the whole loot box crate for this generation of gaming.

At BlizzCon, Mike Morhaime was asked about his thoughts on the loot box controversy and his his philosophy on it as a whole.

What’s your philosophy on the whole Loot Box situation? That comes up every day now. Where do you fall on that one?

Morhaime: You’re talking about gambling?

I am talking about crates that can give you random items when you open them.

Morhaime: I think there’s absolutely nothing wrong with crates that give you randomized items. I think that whatever the controversy is, I don’t think Overwatch belongs in that controversy.

Is there a line? Like, you’d say you wouldn’t make pay-for-power an element of the crates? As long as it’s cosmetic it’s cool or is there…?

Morhaime: Well, it’s definitely something we’ve avoided. I think another element, in terms of the gambling question, the question in terms of that is whether or not you’re actually… There’s an element of converting back into real-world value. I think that’s a critical element, and that element does not exist in Overwatch loot crates.

Do you agree with Morhaime? Should Overwatch not be part of the conversation? The hero shooter has loot boxes that have randomly-generated content that can be bought by real-world money, so his point is debatable. Then again, most gamers do give Blizzard a pass on most things.

Ubisoft: PS5 and Next Xbox Are a Minimum “2 Years” Away

It’s already been a few years since the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One have hit the market, and some gamers might be looking forward to the PS4 and next Xbox. Well, if you are, prepare for a long wait as Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot thinks we’re a “minimum two years” away from seeing it out in the market.

This was mentioned by Guillemot during an investors call, and the CEO of the company that brought us Assasin’s Creed, Rainbow Six Siege and more attribute this to the recently released Xbox One X, and Sony’s PS4 Pro.

As Sony launched PlayStation 4 Pro last year and Microsoft Xbox One X this year, we think we still have a minimum of two years in front of us before something new is coming. But that’s our perception, we don’t have any confidential information on that front.

Given how Guillemot is the CEO of one of the biggest video game publishers in the world, I’d like to think he has some info that’s not fit to print, no? He can’t say he knows stuff or the internet would freak out, and then Sony and Microsoft would be on his case, and so on. Then again, maybe he really doesn’t know anything about the PS5 and next Xbox (NextBox, Xbox Two?).

Would you want to see the PS5 be released in two years or sooner? Or maybe late? What would the ideal timeframe be for you?

Report: Call of Duty: WWII Players Are Reporting Issues With Headquarters & Contracts After Entering Prestige

It’s a given these days that for most people, the main draw in Call of Duty games are its multiplayer component, and how it constantly rewards players. For a lot of players, hitting “Prestige” rank is a yearly ritual, but those racing to do that in Call of Duty: WWII might want to think twice before doing so.

Over o Reddit, multiple users have started threads where they’ve claimed that triggering Prestige in COD: WWII has messed with how they earn and redeem Contracts, and more.

PSA: Don’t prestige. If you prestige your HQ will be bugged and you won’t be able to complete/take on any new orders. Activision is also ignoring this issue on twitter/forums. from WWII

If you can’t read that, Reddit user BiggieSmallsNY says, “PSA: Don’t prestige. If you prestige your HQ will be bugged and you won’t be able to complete/take on any new orders. Activision is also ignoring this issue on twitter/forums.”

User Qishy even made  video showing how Orders and such are inaccessible after hitting his first Prestige.

FinalFooty details the errors and issues he has encountered after Prestiging, which you can read about below.

Console: PS4 Pro

So I prestiged today the first time and since then my whole game broke.. (directly after prestiging, didn’t play any private custom matches, didn’t even enter the menu)

  • I get the HQ objectives shown on top left and can’t complete them.. these are same ones I had when I first started the game at Level 1..
  • All(!!) running contracts from the Major got reset.. if I try to equip new ones it shows that I equipped them but they don’t equip.. I can re-equip them infinite times.. doing these challenges ingame do NOT count as well, so it’s not just an UI bug..
  • My armory credits get deducted at the quartermaster but the contracts don’t get equipped as well..
  • I can’t collect my armory credits from the postman anymore..

I restarted the game multiple times and this didn’t help..

Please fix this asap!!!!!!!!!!

Based on the multiple reports, this COD: WWII Prestige issue is not specific to any platform, and doesn’t happent to everyone. It’s unknown what’s causing this and so far, has no known fix. Hopefully, Activision knows about this and adds this to their list of known issues with the shooter.

Speaking of Prestige, check out the full list of Prestige emblems up to Prestige Master right here.

In other Call of Duty: WWII news, the game has already crossed over $500 million in sales for Activision, and has doubled last year’s Infinite Warfare launch already. You should also check out how some emotes have the same animations though under different names.

Have you reached Prestige in Call of Duty: WWII? Did it cause any issues to crop up for you?

Overwatch Team & Voiceover Talent Congratulate Subreddit on Hitting 1 Million Subscribers

r/Overwatch has hit 1 million subscribers! It’s not only the game’s Reddit community jumping for joy, but also the Overwatch developers and voiceover talent.

Here’s a message from several voices of the game, as well as Blizzard’s VP Jeff Kaplan:

Congratulations from the Overwatch Team from Overwatch

With Reddit being Reddit, there’s a bunch of great comments which also deserve to be highlighted:

Amazing, not only did we get thanks from the Overwatch team, but we learned Jeff’s middle name — “From Blizzard”. – PixelPodium

Darin De Paul always looks like hes having so much fun as Reinhardt. – Standbehindthesheild

Notice how everyone in the video were voice actors of heros in the game? Jeff Kaplan confirmed hero. – Tes_Tickle

I hope Jeff has “from the Overwatch Team” as his official epithet or on his business card or something. – HookedOnRice

Blizzard really struck gold with their voice acting cast. I can’t think of any other game where the voice actors have so thoroughly embraced their characters. Compared to screen actors, voice talent rarely gets the spotlight. The relationship that the VO cast has with their characters and the community is so wholesomely heartwarming. And props to Blizzard for fostering that; having Darin De Paul on stage for the Overwatch portion of the Blizzcon opening ceremony was an absolute treat. – thpthpthp

I hate playing Reinhardt and I completely suck at him, but his voice actor makes me smile every time I see him. – lazydive

Did you expect Overwatch to become as large as it is, with such a passionate community behind it? Or did you know all along?

In other Overwatch news, the PTR has been updated to allow players to try out Moira, the game’s roadmap details the addition of eSports tools to make matches more watchable, and the Overwatch player count is at 35 million and counting.

Pokémon Go Developer to Launch Harry Potter AR Game in 2018

You could say that the success experienced by Niantic’s Pokémon Go AR game has been downright magical. At least, it had a huge population of mobile gamers spellbound during its first month of launch. It has since seen a decline in activity, but still maintains a dedicated fanbase with continued app support.

Well, magic meets magic for 2018, with Niantic now working on a Harry Potter AR game called “Harry Potter: Wizards Unite”.

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite will be co-developed by Warner Bros. Interactive and its new sub-brand Portkey Games.

We’ve got the name, but other details are scarce. However, we can predict that features which made Pokémon Go a success to be copied over or evolved somewhat.

What would you like to see from Harry Potter: Wizards Unite? Can the wizarding world be as compelling as catching and training your very own Pokémon? Let us know if you think this will succeed or flop!

In other news, Star Wars Battlefront II‘s producer claims that “loot boxes are sometimes a necessity,” Call of Duty: WWII‘s nuke is real and here’s how you earn it, and the latest Battlefield 1 update is out now and adds the first Operation Campaign to the game.
