PUBG Sales Figures Break 20 Million, Holds Record 2.5 Million Concurrent Player Count

The insanity continues! Though, I suppose it’s not totally insane for a game this addicting to grow so huge in such a short space of time. However, I don’t think anyone could have predicted the level of success that PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has achieved.

The latest milestones? Why they’re 20 million sales and 2.5 million concurrent player count! And remember, this is with the game currently only available on PC.

Creator Brendan Greene posted this celebratory tweet confirming the achievement:

As for the player count, take a look below:

Are you one of the millions playing PUBG on PC? Or are you still waiting for the big console release? I can’t even imagine what peak figures this game will hit!

In other PUBG news, a recent update rolled out to Test Servers but didn’t include the hotly-anticipated vaulting feature, the Xbox One release date is now confirmed, and read up on Greene’s plans for the game

During its earnings report, Take-Two revealed the huge amount of success that Grand Theft Auto V has had and continues to have, while also teasing at the release of a “highly anticipated new title from one of 2K’s biggest franchises.” It also gave an idea of just how much money is made from microtransactions.

First, the GTA V success news: Grand Theft Auto V is now the best-selling video game of all-time in the US.

“According to The NPD Group, Grand Theft Auto V is now the all-time best-selling video game, both in revenues and units, based on combined U.S. digital and physical sales across PC, console and portable.”

Next, we have comments made about the big upcoming 2K game:

“Looking ahead, we expect fiscal 2019 to be a record year for Net Bookings and net cash provided by operating activities led by the upcoming launches of Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Redemption 2 and a highly anticipated new title from one of 2K’s biggest franchises…”

And finally, there’s the news that 42% of Take-Two’s sales are made up of microtransactions, with consumer spending having grown by 84% year-over-year.

Quite a few bombshells in that earnings report! What do you make of the news?

Call of Duty: WWII Nets Over Half a Billion Dollars in Opening Weekend

Just yesterday, we reported that Call of Duty: WWII had a pretty big first week of release in the UK. Well, as it turns out, it’s a whole lot bigger than we initially realized.

In a press release, Activision has announced that Call of Duty: WWII sales totaled over half a billion dollars over three days! In comparison, it sold twice as many units at launch compared to last year’s Infinite Warfare. Additionally, COD: WWII touts the franchise’s “highest total connected users” for this generation and PC.

Activision’s Call of Duty®: WWII has surpassed more than $500 million in sell-through worldwide in its first three days of release, topping popular theatrical box office openings Thor: Ragnarok and Wonder Woman combined, according to company estimates.

On PlayStation®4, Call of Duty: WWII set a record as the best-selling digital full game by units sold on its first day of availability. Overall unit sales at launch doubled year-over-year globally.

The gripping, personal narrative, boots-on-the-ground multiplayer and terrifying nazi zombies mode attracted players worldwide resulting in the highest total connected users on current generation consoles and PC in Call of Duty® history.
Do we still congratulate Activision or just let them roll around in their tubs of money at this point? This is an amazing feat nonetheless, and kudos to Sledgehammer Games for making bank.

Now that it’s a confirmed financial success, let’s hope that some of the nagging issues are resolved soon, and even some weird design choices are sorted out too.

Star Wars Battlefront II Producer Claims “Loot Boxes Are Sometimes a Necessity”

Following the recent controversies surrounding Star Wars Battlefront II, in addition to the increased negativity about loot boxes in general, a lot players have been waiting to see how exactly EA would respond to the microtransactions backlash.

In an interview with Angry Joe, Battlefront II producer Paul Keslin explained how he thinks that “loot boxes are sometimes a necessity.”

“Loot crates are sometimes a necessity to allow players to gain access to some of those customization options … We’ll look to influence that a bit more post-launch, but right now that’s the direction we have. But with player feedback, and once we’ve gotten the core down and the basics down with LucasFilm for launch, we can start exploring a lot more afterwards.”

Angry Joe continued by asking why microtransactions even need to be in a $60 game, to which Kesslin responded:

“There’s a few reasons. It allows us to give players an opportunity to hopefully try things that they’re not normally going to try. We’ve seen at EA in some games past, if you allow players to single-mindedly focus on a certain path, they’ll try two or three things that they like, and then not engage with the rest of the game and then they might stop playing the game early … We would prefer our players to play our games for a long time to come — we’ve put a lot of time and effort and love into these things, we want to make sure people keep playing them.”

The full video interview lasts 30 minutes, and can be watched below:

Has your opinion changed about the loot boxes found within Star Wars Battlefront II?

In other Star Wars Battlefront II news, this gameplay video showcases all heroes in action, take a look at the new loot crate system, and read up on how the game will likely be discounted during The Last Jedi movie’s launch

Original Story:

Just a few hours ago, we reported that DICE has turned off the Battlefield 1 servers for the game’s big November update that will add Operation Campaigns to the mix of game modes. Well, the Battlefield 1 update is now live!

Clocking in at 3.6GB on the PlayStation 4 (and 2.7GB on PC), Operation Campaigns is the new addition, but there’s a lot of in-game tweaks, and gameplay balance fixes as well, which is the norm when DICE releases a new patch.

For now, the Battlefield 1 update notes have yet to be released, but based on the CTE (Community Test Environment) patch notes for the November update, a lot of the changes seem to be gameplay fixes or refinements.

The big November update is now live on PC, with players on the BF1 subreddit sharing some of the (unofficial) new additions and tweaks.

Once the full patch notes are released, we’ll be sure to update the post ASAP. Don’t forget, the BF1 patch is out, but the game is still offline. For the schedule of when it’ll go back up again, click here.

In other Battlefield 1 news, there’s going to be a free map that will be available to everyone later this month! We also posted about the cut features from the franchise, which is a must-see for Battlefield fans. Finally, we also posted the contents of Battlepacks Revision 59 that some people might find useful to see what the can exchange for scraps.

Here Are the Call of Duty: WWII “Known Issues” According to Activision

With Call of Duty: WWII having one of the rockiest game launches in recent memory for the franchise, a fact acknowledged by developer Sledgehammer Games, it’s understandable that the shooter might still have a few issues that have yet to be resolved.

Over on Activision’s support website, the publisher has listed down the “known issues” that are still plaguing the game, and it mentions the rank reset bug and more.

The list is accurate (per Activision) as of November 6, 2017.

Known Issues

The following issues that are under investigation.

Issue Description Status
I haven’t received my digital pre-order content.
– All platforms
Some players have not received bonus content items for pre-ordering a Digital Standard or Digital Deluxe edition of the game. Under investigation
I’ve lost ranks and stats.
– All platforms
We’re aware that some of you have lost ranks in Multiplayer. If you’ve lost ranks, choose your platform below to contact us.

Under investigation
I redeemed a code but haven’t received the content in game.
– Xbox One
We’re currently experiencing issues with digital content redemption on Xbox One. Rest assured your items will be delivered to you once this issue is resolved.

For more information about how to access digital content, check out Call of Duty: WWII Bonus Content and Code Support.

Under investigation
I have a bonus content item stuck in the Mail station.
– All platforms
We’re investigating instances where content items collected from the Mail station appear to be stuck in your Mail slots. This is a graphical error; the content has been delivered. Check the Soldier tab to find your content.

For more information about how to access digital content, check out Call of Duty: WWII Bonus Content and Code Support.

Under investigation
I’m experiencing long load times when going to Headquarters.
– All platforms

PC players have the option of loading the game without entering Headquarters. To do this, follow the steps in the Call of Duty: WWII PC Troubleshooting Guide.

Under investigation
I opened a Supply Drop and got an “Unable to get inventory” error.
– All platforms
This error is due to a connectivity issue. However, the items in your Supply Drop were not lost and should appear in your inventory within 8 hours.

For more information about Supply Drops, check out Call of Duty: WWII Supply Drops and Collection Items.

Under investigation
I opened a Supply Drop and nothing happened.
– All platforms
We’re investigating an issue where nothing appears when opening a Supply Drop. You still received your Supply Drop items and can find them in the Soldier tab.

Under investigation
I redeemed a code for the Multiplayer Upgrade but never received the Prestige Unlock Token.
– All platforms
We’re currently investigating an issue where some players did not receive the Prestige Unlock Token included in the Multiplayer Upgrade. Under investigation

While it’s good that Activision has a public list of things they’re investigating, let’s hope the main issue, which is the servers and matchmaking, are sorted ASAP.

In other COD: WWII news, we published a report that shows the emotes players get in Supply Drops have identical animations but have different names. The nuke has also been confirmed to be in the game as well, which you can watch here.

If you know of a COD: WWII issue that’s not in the list, let us know in the comments.

MLB The Show 18 Release Date Announced, Cover Athlete Is Aaron Judge

For sports fans, being the cover athlete of a game is a big deal, and Sony knows it as it has announced the MLB The Show 18 release date and cover athlete today! For the cover, it’s none other than Aaron Judge!

Announced over on the PlayStation Blog,  Aaron Judge will be joined by Marcus Stroman for the MLB The Show 18 Canadian cover. You can see both box cover below along with accomplishments by both athletes.

Making his MLB debut with the New York Yankees in 2016, Aaron Judge hit a home run during his career’s first at bat, but this was only the beginning. Judge went on to have a record-breaking rookie season in 2017, was named an All-Star, and won the Home Run Derby, overcoming a brutal 22 homer first-round and hitting a total of 47 throughout the derby. 16 of those with exit velocities of 115 mph or harder and a few 500+ foot blasts.

To add to his already massive resume, Judge has hit 52 home runs as a rookie, breaking legendary Mark McGwire’s MLB rookie record of 49; and also hit 33 home runs at Yankee Stadium, breaking the record of 32 set by legend Babe Ruth in 1921. This rookie is the living, breathing example of Road to the Show – create a player with massive stats and trek on to becoming a legend – which is why we are proud to announce him as the cover athlete for The Show 18.

Stroman was drafted in the 1st round in the 2012 Major League Baseball Draft by the Toronto Blue Jays and made his Major League debut on May 6, 2014 and made his first Major League start on May 31, 2014, pitching six innings and surrendered only one earned run on five hits, striking out six and issuing no walks to earn the win over the Kansas City Royals.

A fan favorite, he is known for his grit and determination. He has dedicated his life to overcoming obstacles and showing people that greatness isn’t measured in what others think of you; what’s important is who you think you are and working hard to achieve your goals.

Sony has also announced the MLB The Show release date to be March 27, 2018! Report: Some Call of Duty: WWII Emotes Have the Same Animations but Under Different Names

In today’s weird Call of Duty news, it seems the emotes players can get in Call of Duty: WWII’s Supply Drops  are actual duplicates of each other just with different names and different classifications. This was brought to my attention when I got emotes in Supply Drops and checked them out. I noticed that some of them seemed a little bit too familiar and skimmed through my available emotes list.

Lo and behold! I managed to find quite a number of duplicates, which are showcased in the video below. You can also check out the emote name, description of what your character does, the tier it’s in, and the duplicates (just the ones I have and been able to confirm).

Shows hand to player and swings head to side:

  • Taka a Powder (Common)
  • No Way! (Common)

Clenches fist and pumps it vigorously downwards:

  • Time to Grandstand (Common)
  • Hot Damn (Common)

Raises open hand and nods head:

  • Hang It Up (Common)
  • What’s Up Ace? (Common)
  • Hey! (Common)

Puts hand to face as if disappointed:

  • Done For (Rare)
  • Facepalm (Rare)

At first, I thought it might have been a server error or some sort, but checking the COD: WWII subreddit, people have posted the same thing!

Is this a bug in the game or did Sledgehammer Games intentionally did this to pad the amount of stuff players can earn in Supply Drops? Only they know for sure. It’s currently not known (at least by us) how many duplicate animations are there, but the most I’ve seen so far are three.

In other Call of Duty: WWII news, there’s a Nuke in the game confirmed! Check it out here to see it in action. The shooter’s Daily and Weekly Orders have also been reset, and you can check the list here.

Overwatch Update Lets PTR Users Play as Moira, Tweaks Hero Balance & More

A new Overwatch update is in progress, and is currently available to be tried out on the Public Test Region.

The new update brings a brand new hero, Moira. Moira is a support character, allowing her to heal allies or drain an enemy’s life.

In addition to a new hero, Blizzard have worked on balancing other heroes, including Ana and Mercy. As well as balancing tweaks, several bugs have been worked on, including flying objects.

For the full list of patch notes see below:

New Hero: Moira (Support)

Wielding both regenerative and degenerative technologies at her fingertips, Moira O’Deorain is Talon’s ambitious geneticist who seeks to rewrite the building blocks of humanity by any means necessary.

Moira’s cutting-edge capabilities make her a mobile healer and damage dealer capable of adapting to any situation. Her main attack is Biotic Grasp, which she can use to either heal allies or sap an enemy’s life force. Biotic Grasp’s primary fire sprays a cone of energy that heals all teammates within range, draining biotic energy while active, which will replenish slowly over time. Her alternate fire is a beam that tethers to the closest enemy, dealing damage and siphoning health. Draining her foes’ health regenerates Moira’s biotic energy even faster, allowing more healing for her allies.

Her Biotic Orb ability launches a sphere of energy that bounces around the battlefield, healing nearby allies or damaging enemies until it dissipates. Fade enables Moira to disappear out of sight and into the shadows, granting her a sprint and making her invulnerable for its duration. When Moira’s ultimate is ready to be unleashed, she can cast Coalescence—a powerful, long-range beam of chaotic energy that pierces through barriers to heal allies or damage enemies in its path.

HERO UPDATES

Ana

  • Biotic Rifle
    • Damage increased from 60 to 70

Developer Comment: Ana has been outshined by other support heroes lately. Boosting her damage will help her defend herself and make her more threatening to the enemy team.

Mercy

  • Resurrect
    • Cast time increased from 0 seconds to 1.75 seconds
    • Mercy’s movement speed is now reduced by 75% while casting
    • Can now be interrupted when Mercy is knocked back, stunned, or hacked
  • Valkyrie
    • When activated, Resurrection no longer has a cast time
    • While active, casting Resurrect does not reduce Mercy’s movement speed

Developer Comment: We feel that Mercy’s recent rework has been successful, but her Resurrect ability still feels too strong and frustrating to play against. Now that it has a cast time, there is more room for enemies to counter the ability. However, casting Resurrect happens instantly when Valkyrie is active. This should make her feel powerful when she transforms on the battlefield.

BUG FIXES

General

  • Fixed several issues that prevented the announcer voice lines from playing correctly in Competitive, Elimination, and Capture the Flag game modes
  • Fixed a bug that caused the announcer’s “player eliminated” voice line to play for the eliminated player
  • Fixed a bug that caused the announcer’s attack and defense voice lines to play for the incorrect team
  • Fixed a bug that prevented players from progressing past the Helix Rocket demonstration in the tutorial

A.I.

  • Fixed an issue that affected the Bastion Bot’s movement when defending Objective A on Eichenwalde
  • Fixed a bug that prevented bots from defending Objective A on certain maps

Heroes

  • Fixed an issue that prevented Junkrat’s RIP-Tire from casting properly while jumping
  • Fixed an issue causing Roadhog’s Chain Hook to latch on to enemy players for longer than intended
  • Fixed an issue that made Roadhog’s Chain Hook appear to come from off screen

Maps

  • Fixed a bug that caused some objects to uncharacteristically fly across the room when shot on Horizon Lunar Colony

Will you be testing out the new hero? Let us know below.

In other updates news, a new patch for WWE 2K18 is rolling out, a new Xbox One update is now available to Alpha Ring Insider members, and a Destiny 2 hotfix addresses the “hitching issues” caused by the previous update.

New Elder Scrolls Online Update Is 37GB on Xbox One, Adds Huge Amount of Content

Elder Scrolls Online has received a very substantial update coming in at roughly 37GB on Xbox One and 24.8GB on PS4. The PC patch rolls in at 208MB.

The console update introduces the Clockwork City, with new quests, two new world bosses and two delves. There’s also 12 new item sets, two new Motifs, 200 new furnishings and much more.

Bethesda has also worked on additional support for the Xbox One X, resulting in much better performance overall, with shorter loading screens and better frame-rates.

In addition to this, for any players who own the Morrowind expansion, you will have access to a new Battleground game mode: “Crazy King.” The aim of the game is to “seize a capture point location that jumps randomly around the map.”

There are also a number of fixes and changes included in this new update.
