Rainbow Six Siege Update Implements “Mid-Season Reinforcements”

A new Rainbow Six Siege update is being implemented during today’s scheduled maintenance downtime. The patch promises big changes, namely “upgrade to Kapkan’s Entry Denial Device, a new Elite set for Jäger, more weapon balancing, and bug fixes.”

Downtime varies between platforms, but will only last for 30 minutes.

  • PS4 – 9:00 – 9:30 AM EDT
  • XB1 – 10:00 – 10:30 AM EDT
  • PC – 11:00 – 11:30 AM EDT

Here are the changes coming to Operators in this “Mid-Season Reinforcements” update:

Kapkan

KAPKAN CARRIES 5 ENTRY DENIAL DEVICES: THEY ARE HARDER TO SEE AND DEAL 60 DAMAGE EACH

The trip laser will fade to the extent of disappearing after deployment. This comes at a cost, as the traps will no longer be instant kills, dealing a 60 HP damage. Thanks to his improved traps, Kapkan will also gain in speed. He will now be a 2-speed Operator, instead of 1-speed. This will allow Kapkan to have a bit more versatility as a Defender.

We feel as though this change is an adaptation of Kapkan to the skill level of players who have adapted to spotting the trip laser, instead of rushing through doorways. We hope to see new strategies develop for him, alongside our other trapper defenders.

Blitz

BLITZ CAN NOW SPRINT WITH HIS SHIELD EXTENDED

One of Blitz’ biggest drawbacks is that he is extremely vulnerable without his shield protecting him. This is especially the case when sprinting. We found it difficult to close the gap between some Defenders and Blitz, who needs proximity to use his shield flash. To remedy this downside, he will now be able to sprint with his shield still protecting him. We’re putting the blitz into Blitz.

Ela

ELA’S SMG IS GETTING A RECOIL BALANCE, & SHE IS LOSING A GRZMOT MINE.

After analyzing in-game stats, we found that Ela’s win rate and pick rate were too high when compared to other Operators.

With 4 Grzmot Mines Ela was able to secure two bomb sites, and still save a mine for her roaming. We want our players to make careful decisions as to where to use her gadget, so she will only have 3 Grzmot Mines from now on.

We also feel that her Scorpion EVO 3 A1 SMG is too powerful overall. To address this, we have raised the speed at which you reach maximum recoil, while also increasing the impact of the maximum recoil. The result of this change will result in a SMG that will be more challenging to control.

JÄGER ELITE

Jäger steps out of the cockpit with the next instalment of the Elite Sets. The Flying Ace Elite set will see your enemy’s grenades falling from the sky in no time.

Each set includes a matching Uniform and Headgear, Operator Card, Operator Title, Charm, and a Signature Victory Animation.

PUBG Update Is 2.1GB in Size, Includes Changes to Blue Zone Damage

A sizeable PUBG update is rolling out to both public and test PC builds. It weighs in at 2.1GB. Though Bluehole had already teased what would be included in this patch, you’ve got to wonder at the sheer size of it. Surely something else is included, too?

Anyway, here’s a reminder of what the patch is confirmed to do thus far:

Early Access – Week 31 – Patch Notes

Gameplay

  • Blue zone DOT (Damage over Time) increases when characters are farther away from the play zone
  • This principle does not apply to the first blue zone

Bug Fix

  • Resolved a bug where bullets would sometimes ignore armor

Maybe we’ll learn more as players test out the new build. That 2.1GB can’t all be tweaks to the Blue Zone and a bug fix, right? What do you think? Is there something else hidden within this latest update?

We’ll keep you updated as and when we learn more.

In other PUBG news, over 322,000 cheaters have been banned and new concurrent player count has been achieved, the game was bombarded with negative reviews following in-game ads, and Bluehole is apparently “in talks” with Sony regarding a PS4 version

Nintendo Switch System Update 4.0.1 Includes General Stability Improvements

A new Nintendo Switch system update is rolling out across all devices. It will be downloaded automatically. Once installed, update 4.0.1 will implement general system stability fixes that are designed to “enhance the user’s experience.”

The major fix is a change to the HDMI connection process specification, which should address video and sound output issues with some TV models.

Improvements Included in Version 4.0.1 (Distributed 10/25/2017)

  • General system stability improvements to enhance the user’s experience, including:
    • Changed the HDMI connection process specification to match that of version 3.0.2 to address video and sound output issues with some TV models.

While it’s cool to see Nintendo making some smaller fixes, this update certainly isn’t as exciting as previous patch 4.0.0. If you missed the patch notes for that, then prepare yourself for a whirlwind of changes and improvements!

Improvements Included in Version 4.0.0 (Distributed 10/18/2017)

Added the following system functionality

  • Capture video on select games
    • To capture video, hold down the Capture Button during gameplay
    • Up to a maximum of the previous 30 seconds will be saved in the Album. You can trim the beginning and end of each clip, and post to Facebook and Twitter.
    • As of October 18th, 2017, this feature is compatible with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, ARMS, and Splatoon 2
  • Select from 12 new Super Mario Odyssey and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild icons for your user
    • To edit your user icon, head to your My Page on the top left of the Home Menu > Profile
  • Transfer user and save data to another system
  • Pre-purchase option on Nintendo eShop
    • A pre-purchase option will be available for certain games. This option allows pre-load of the game to your system for quicker play when the game is released.
    • This feature will be supported by future game releases
  • News channel updates
    • The news feed has been updated with a new look.
    • Unfollowing a channel will remove that channel’s content from the news feed and following the channel again will make it reappear.
  • Match software version with a group of local users
    • To create a group, head to the software’s Options > Software Update > Match Version with Local Users
    • Everyone’s software will be updated to match the most recent version in the group
    • All users must be on system menu version 4.0.0 or later to view and join a group

General system stability improvements to enhance the user’s experience, including:

  • Changed the specification which hid wireless networks using TKIP security from the network search results. Wireless networks using TKIP security will now display in search results as a grayed-out selection instead of not being displayed
    • The Nintendo Switch console supports WEP, WPA-PSK(AES), and WPA2-PSK(AES). If your router is using a different security type (e.g. WPA-PSK(TKIP)), you will need to change this security type within your router’s settings.

The Nintendo Switch has been getting a lot of love recently!

In other Nintendo news, a spooktacular eShop sale for the UK has been released for this Halloween, the OJO projector has hit Indiegogo, and here’s 13 minutes of Super Mario Odyssey co-op gameplay

Get This Free Call of Duty: WWII Dynamic PS4 Theme Right Now for Completing a “Quest”

Remember when we posted that free Call of Duty: WWII Calling Card and how to get it? Well, this time, we have another similar thing, but it might even be better. If you’re a PlayStation owner, and you have a North America account (R1), then you’re in luck! There’s a free COD: WWII dynamic PS4 theme with your name on it!

How to snag it? Super simple. All you have to do is log in to live.playstation.com and sign in, complete the “quest” which consists of watching the trailer (yes, you can skip forward), and once that’s done, you’ll get a code that you can redeem on the PSN Store! I tried it, and it works. Now, for those without NA accounts, just create one (get any US address from the US, preferably a commercial establishment), prompt the download, and then revert back to install the theme on your original PS4 account.

You can check out the screenshot above as that’s the actual theme or check the video below by YouTuber PrestigeIsKey to see it in action.

Not bad for a freebie, and you can bet I’m using this one to ensure hype levels are at a maximum. Stay tuned for our review of Call of Duty: WWII coming to you soon!

Paladins OB 61 Patch Delayed for Consoles

Console players who were expected to be greeted by the latest Paladins patch that was made available last week on PC, are going to be a bit disappointed,  as Paladins OB 61 has been delayed on consoles.

While this is certainly bad news, as the OB 61 patch marks the release of the latest champion, Terminus. It seems the reasoning behind the delay is reasonable. According to Hi-Rez Studios, they want to implement the recent waves of hot-fixes that was released to the game that addressed issues that were introduced to the game with the launch of the OB 61.

Among these issues that were fixed with the recently released hot-fixes, are some pretty annoying bugs such as Terminus not being able to take damage on the Payload game mode and more. For the full list of these recent hot-fixes feel free to read them below:

  • Fixed an issue where Terminus could not respawn if he died with a fully charged ULT.
  • Fixed an issue where dying with a fully charged Ultimate would sometimes cause Terminus to respawn in 3P.
  • Fixed an issue where Diminishing Returns sometimes increased movement speed, rather than decreasing it.
  • Fixed an issue where Terminus’ weapon attacks went through Shields.
  • Fixed Terminus’ Playing God card.
  • Fixed an issue where Terminus could become rooted in place if he used his Ultimate while CC’d by Jenos’ Void Grip.
  • Fixed an issue where Void Grip would always cripple, even when the Legendary Card was not used.
  • Fixed an issue where Inara’s Sacred Ground card caused permanent damage reduction when no abilities were active.
  • Fixed an issue where Sha Lin could activate Withdraw twice in a row if using Desert Shadow.
  • Fixed an issue with Fernando’s Shield health; value was 4800 instead of 8000.
  • Fixed an issue with Drogoz’ weapon falloff.
  • Fixed an issue where Terminus’ Strength of Stone allowed him to survive Drogoz’ Dragon Punch.
  • Fixed an issue where icons did not appear in the purchase pop-up for VIP skins.
  • Fixed an issue with Champion movement sliding and staggering after using movement abilities.
  • Fixed an issue where Terminus could use Power Siphon while swinging his weapon.
  • Fixed an issue where Terminus’ Ultimate icon remained enlarged after using the ability.
  • Fixed an issue where Terminus’ character model was not centered properly on the Top Play intro.
  • Fixed an issue where Terminus’ ability icons were low resolution.
  • Fixed a crash condition with Grohk’s Electrostatic II-IV.
  • Fixed an issue where clicking on certain items in the Champions tab directed players to the Chest screen.
  • Fixed an issue where purchasing a card and adding it to a loadout could remove all other cards from the deck.
  • Fixed an issue where Terminus dying on a friendly payload with a fully charged Ultimate caused the camera to lock.
  • Fixed SFX for several emotes.
  • Added SFX to the Feudal Chest.
  • Fixed an issue where Terminus’ Top Play could show both 1p and 3p presentation at the same time if he achieved Top Play while using his Ultimate.
  • Fixed a match crashing condition involving Terminus.
  • Fixed condition where Terminus could be invisible to some clients.
  • Fixed issue where Terminus could no longer jump after respawn.
  • Fixed issue where Terminus could become invulnerable to damage in Payload game mode.
  • Fixed players sometimes getting stuck moving in one direction
  • Fixed Cards that applied healing reduction and could stack on subsequent hits.
  • Fixed Barik’s turret Architectonics projectiles traveling slower

Despite these hot-fixes being quite lengthy, it seems that console players won’t have to wait that much longer to get this patch as according to the console community specialist for Paladins, HirezJuju the patch is expected to go live sometime tomorrow.

Additionally, with a new set of patch notes set to go live this Friday,it seems that the residential leaker and art director for Paladins, Thomas Holt is getting the hype train started a bit early for the OB 62 patch. His Twitter timeline is filled with daily clues spelling out the words “Time 4 Gro” as of today.

If true, it seems that the shaman of the realm Grohk is finally receiving some love with the upcoming OB 62 patch.

Destiny 2 Behind the Scenes Video Offers a Look at PC Development Process

With Destiny 2 having launched on PC, “master race” players are now enjoying the game at higher frame-rates, as well as in widescreen aspect ratios and, if their rig can handle it, 4K resolution. Then there’s the keyboard and mouse support that makes precise aiming possible. PC gamers have been patiently waiting for their turn, and now it seems to have paid off.

Developing for PC is a completely different beast to console. With a huge variety of hardware variations, and so many different demands from players, the PC platform can be a little intimidating.

Get a look at how Bungie, working with Vicarious Visions, managed to transition the Destiny experience across from console to PC in the video embedded below.

It’s only ten minutes long, but I appreciate the behind the scenes look at the development process. I’m glad that the hard work was put in to bring this franchise to more players.

In other Destiny 2 news, a giant Pokéball Easter egg has been found in the game, possible future DLC locations and info has been leaked, and the game has become the best-selling console game of 2017 in the US.

Battlefield 1 Easter Egg Trigger, Here’s How to Hear Neebs on Brusilov Keep

The Battlefield community isn’t just a group of capable first-person shooter fans who enjoy epic-scale warfare; they are also made up of keen Easter egg hunters. Battlefield games have always had a few secrets hidden away, and the community now expects and enjoys seeing them added.

Destiny 2 PC Players Experiencing Bans, Bungie Confirms It Isn’t to Do With Third-Party Software

Following yesterday’s launch, PC players can now dive into the Destiny 2 universe, with uncapped frame-rates, widescreen support, and good-looking 4K textures. It’s the definitive, ultimate way to play… At least, it would be, if not for the fact that some Destiny 2 PC players are getting banned! What’s even more infuriating, is that there isn’t a clear reason for these bans.

Bungie’s official statement on the matter reads: “We do not know any further information for the time being, but we will attempt to update this thread as updates come in. Thank you.”

Not exactly very clear, huh? Well, Bungie community manager Cozmo has at least added that third-party software, like game capture apps and chat overlays, are not causing the bans:

“Third-party applications that aren’t compatible with Destiny 2 may cause the game to not run but won’t result in a ban.”

With seemingly random bans hitting rule-abiding players, the community is becoming quite riled. Here’s hoping Bungie hurries up with an explanation or, even better, a fix!

Have you been playing Destiny 2 on PC? If so, how has the experience been thus far?

In other Destiny 2 news, a giant Pokéball Easter egg has been found in the game, possible future DLC locations and info has been leaked, and the game has become the best-selling console game of 2017 in the US.
