The Division State of the Game October 12, 2017 Summary Mentions New Dark Zone Event, and More

The Division just had its console PTS (Public Test Server) going live a few days ago, but there’s still a lot of stuff left to be discussed by Ubisoft when it comes to the shared world shooter. In the latest The Division “State of the Game” developer outreach, we learn a few more details about what’s to come later this month, reception to the Global Events and lots more.

You can check the entire discussion on the official The Division site, or read on below for a much more condensed version. Check out The Division State of the Game October 12 summary.

Update 1.8 PTS:

Console PTS

  • The Console PTS is live since Tuesday
  • The mails that have been sent out were reminder-mails from the last PTS, for players that have not claimed their PTS code.
  • The Invites for new players are out now: Tweet

Tacticians

  • The Turret will be added back, so you will be able to get stacks from the Turret and also from your weapon.

PTS 3

  • PTS Phase 3 is confirmed, but we have no date to offer just yet. The patch notes will be posted closer to PTS3 release.

Global Event

Global Events Assault

  • Has been received very well
  • Players liked the faster time to kill
  • Changed up the gameplay and overall it was also fun
  • It was also great to see that so many players came back and pushed the servers to their limits

Factors to create a global event

  • Players know the content – so the goal is to change up the gameplay and the tactics to win in a new situation.
  • Players should play the content differently and that should also make the missions more exciting and interesting

Global Event PTS – Strike & Assault

New Token rewards

  • Amherst, Lexington and Clear Sky can be farmed fast, so on PTS you will now get less GE Tokens, when you complete these missions.
  • This should encourage you, to play the other missions, or missions from the Global Event playlist
  • They are currently taking feedback about this change and adjust it accordingly.

Global Event Summaries

You can read up the modifier and the playlists of the new Global Events in the wiki:

Strike – or Explosions!

  • Global Events should impact how player navigate a mission
  • Strike is all about explosions – explosions on the NPCs and explosions on the player
  • In Strike enemies that get killed drop a grenade that damage the other NPCs and when a player takes too much damage, he also explodes, takes damage and damages players around him.
  • So you need to spread out, so that you do not damage the players around you.

GE Strike – ToDo’s

  • The feedback has been good
  • They are currently improving the UI and the general notifications, so that the player knows exactly what happens when.

Global Event Ambush – or Take Cover!

  • Ambush should encourage player to return to the roots of the division – take cover and work from there and less face-tanking the NPCs
  • When you take cover, you get a damage buff, when you move around that buff slowly disappears and then you start to take damage
  • That slows down the gameplay
  • This is only active when you are in combat and in a mission with the Global Event modifiers.
  • So in this one you have to coordinate where to stand, when to move and really use the cover to use that damage buff.

Looking Forward

Special Event Weekend

There will be a Dark Zone Event next weekend, October 21-22. Players will receive extra rewards from Dark Zone supply drops on October 21, and supply drops will drop more frequently on October 22.

Once a new patch rolls in, we’ll be sure to let people know.

Star Wars Battlefront II Luke Skywalker Abilities Shown Off in Short Gameplay Clip

While we know some of the Heroes set to appear in Star Wars Battlefront II, we still haven’t seen any footage of everyone’s favorite Jedi, Luke Skywalker — at least until now. In the short clip below, we get to see some awesome Luke Skywalker gameplay where his abilities are shown off, and they look fantasic!

Luke Skywalker – Gameplay Preview from StarWarsBattlefront

Luke Skywalker:

  • Rush: Luke enhances his speed and rushes to the attack.
  • Repulse: Luke deals damage to nearby enemies.
  • Push: Luke pushes enemies away.
Weapon: Lightsaber
Race: Human
Affiliation: Rebel Alliance

One of the things that stand out is his new garb which is loads better than the one he wore in the 2015 Battlefront. If you didn’t see our post yesterday, Iden Version, the protagonist of the single-player campaign, has been confirmed to be part of Star Wars Battlefront II’s multiplayer.

In other Battlefront II news, EA has mentioned that the progression in the beta was “slowed down,” and that there was a credits cap of 180 in each match; that won’t be the case in the final game. Make sure to read up on what EA has to say about loot crates and feedback as well.

Call of Duty: WWII Basic Training List, Game Modes, Ranked Play & More Leaked

[tps_header]

Continuing the massive Call of Duty: WWII info leak which was mined in the PC COD: WWII beta files, Reddit user  rTwGNaywaoaLh is at it again, and this time, he listed out the Call of Duty: WWII Basic Training list, Headquarters social space features, game modes, ranked play and more.

Same as before, due to the files being obtained in the PC beta files, and Sledgehammer themselves saying  that some info are inaccurate, don’t take everything as 100 percent confirmation. Some things might have already changed, got taken out, or even renamed.

With that said, it’s still an awesome read for those looking forward to Call of Duty: WWII.

Destiny 2 Spawns Need Work, as This Painfully Brutal Video Demonstrates

Destiny 2‘s player versus player mode can be an intense and often punishing experience. Succeeding comes when players stick together and know when to quit peaking and retreat.

Unfortunately, due to the way Destiny 2 spawns work, it’s sometimes impossible to regroup with your squad and prepare for the next gunfight.

In the current Iron Banner playlist, the featured game mode is Control. This uses staggered spawns, which means the enemy can quickly rush to where they predict the next spawn will be and nail another rapid kill. There’s limited spawn protection, and spawn areas are out in the open, so it can get pretty damn nasty.

Embedded below is a video by YoureaTowelie, which demonstrates just how brutal things can become:

That can’t have been fun to play!

With the video posted on Reddit, upvotes and messages came pouring in.

This comment by GuardiansWhoSayNi currently ranks highest with 1126 points:

“This needs visibility.

I thought you compiled a video from several different games, not 1 damn game.

Spawns are awful right now, I’ve experienced this myself but it’s usually 1 or 2 a game. I think the hot-fix they put in to make spawn locations better actually made them much worse.”

Here’s hoping Bungie can make Crucible more fun with the next few updates.

In other Destiny 2 news, it looks like Prison of Elders may be returning, the PC specs have been revealed, and Xur is back with more loot!

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite Patch Fixes Major Bugs Affecting Characters & Mechanics

A new Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite update will roll out on October 16 across PS4 and PC. Xbox One players will receive the patch at “a later date.”

This patch aims to “fix a few major bugs with certain characters and mechanics.”

Here’s the full list of patch notes:

General (These changes will go live on PS4 and PC on October 16 and on Xbox One at a later date)

  • When an opponent has been hit by three special “grab” projectiles in a single combo, they will automatically be affected by a spiral hit stun, causing them to be invincible and sent into the air. Players can also counter tag out of these attacks.
    • Affected moves:
      • Spider-Man – LP/HP Web Ball (including air versions)
      • Frank – LK/HK Hammer Throw
  • Can perform air recovery in eight directions when recovering from certain unique hits in the air.
    • Affected moves:
      • Dante – Bee Hive
      • Chun-Li – Spinning Bird Kick (including air version), Kikosho, Hoyokusen
      • Chris – Sweep Combo
      • Doctor Strange – Bolts of Balthakk
  • Fixed a bug that made it impossible to block during the last frame of crouching block recovery.
  • Fixed an issue that caused a connection error to occur when continuously performing successful grabs in an online match.
  • Increased throw invincibility during air recovery from 3F to 5F.
  • Fixed comboing into another combo using the Mind Surge throw.

Characters (These changes will go live across all platforms in the update on October 16)

Dante

  • Fixed a bug when taking damage during Tempest that caused Dante’s position to change from the location where he took that damage.

Captain America

  • Fixed bug(s) so that properties of moves without the shield match those with the shield. (ex: forward jumping during forward ground dash without the shield did not have dash momentum)
  • Fixed a bug causing backflip (without shield) to be invincible from start up.
  • Fixed a bug that caused his back ground throw to not do damage and had a shorter knockback distance.
  • Fixed a bug where jumping forward during a back ground dash (with shield) had dash momentum.
  • Fixed a bug that caused him to not face the opponent when behind them while activating Charging Star and Hyper Charging Star.

Dormammu

  • Fixed a bug that allowed players to cancel Dark Spell: Creation after LK/HK Dark Hole with Flight.
  • Fixed a bug that allowed players to cancel Dark Spell: Creation after LK/HK Purification with Flight.

Doctor Strange

  • Fixed bug where when there are 3 Graces of Hoggoth HP traps on screen and Flames of the Faltine is used from a higher position, the fired laser VFX disappears.
  • Fixed bug causing one Grace of Hoggoth to remain on screen after activating Flames of the Faltine in certain situations.

From October 17 onwards, players will be able to download and play as Black Panther, Sigma, and Monster Hunter.

In other fighting game news, the WWE 2K18 launch trailer is now available to watch, and Tekken 7 sales are now at over two million units

Report: Destiny 2 Prison of Elders Returning Based on New Database Files (Update)

Update:

Bungie’s “Cozmo23” has went on Reddit to refute this little nugget and claims it’s just some “leftover bits.”

So, I guess that’s that. Carry on, Guardians!

Original Story:

Do you want another co-op activity in Destiny 2 that doesn’t involve Strikes, Public Events and Raids? Well, an old favorite might be coming back as some new files added by Bungie has indicated it to be so. Over on Reddit, user xxoACEoxx managed to find some files in the Destiny 2 database that pertains to Prison of Elders.

In the DestinyActivityTypeDefinition section of the DB, the missing name has now been added, details below

  • DestinyActivityTypeDefinition as of 26/09/2017 Line 15 – {“displayProperties”:{“icon”:”/img/misc/missing_icon_d2.png”,”hasIcon”:false},”hash”:73015004,”index”:18,”redacted”:false}
  • DestinyActivityTypeDefinition as of 12/10/2017 Line 15 – {“displayProperties”:{“name”:”Prison of Elders”,”icon”:”/common/destiny2_content/icons/379421028a0209ae0e28122ec8e33454.png”,”hasIcon”:true},”hash”:680256650,”index”:8,”redacted”:false}
  • Destiny 2 PoE Icon Placeholder https://www.bungie.net/common/destiny2_content/icons/379421028a0209ae0e28122ec8e33454.png
  • EDIT – Image for people still questioning the source/info Here

Obviously, this is not definite just yet, and should be treated as a rumor for now. Having said that, the fact that Bungie has added the files is a good indication that Destiny 2 Prison of Elders will happen. I mean, unless the studio just adds random files to punk gamers, no?

Those not familiar with the mode, Prison of Elders is a three-player co-op arena activity included in Destiny 1’s House of Wolves expansion. It puts a heavy emphasis on skill, and has their own rewards (loot).

If Bungie does bring the event back, what changes would you want to see compared to the first Destiny game?

Crazy Justice Brings Battle Royale to Nintendo Switch

Crazy Justice is planning to bring the battle royale experience to Nintendo Switch, as well as PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

The fact that it’s coming to Nintendo Switch, however, is what is most impressive here, as it’ll be the first battle royale game on the platform.

The game features a building/upgrading system, destructible environments, motion console Switch support, splitscreen for up to four players, a cover and hiding system, a customization skill deck, and AI bots.

The battle royale mode is called “Survive the Tesla”:

In the middle of the map a Tesla Coil will generate a shield above the area. During the gameplay, the shield is getting smaller until it reaches the final size. Players out of the shield will die. The last living player will win the round.

In addition to the battle royale mode, there are other multiplayer game types, as well as a single-player/co-op story mode. In the campaign experience, players will be put in the shoes of a hero, tasked with saving the world from the forces of evil.

Developer Black Riddles is also aiming to bring cross-play to Switch, PC, and Xbox players.

Crazy Justice is set to release in Q2 2018 across all supported platforms, providing it gets the funding it needs. If you’re interested in supporting this title, take a look at the game’s Fig funding page. The Nintendo Switch version can be pre-ordered for $15.

In other battle royale gaming news, Epic Games is suing two Fortnite Battle Royale cheaters, the new H1Z1 Pro League has been announced, and PUBG‘s peak concurrent player account surpassed 2 million!

Star Wars Battlefront II Progression Was “Slowed” in the Beta and Credits Were Capped According to EA

In the recently-concluded Star Wars Battlefront II beta, players earned XP as well as in-game currency to use for buying loot crates and unlocking items. For some people, they might have thought that the XP earn rate was a tad too slow, or maybe the credits given each match was too little? If so, you’re in for some good news!

According to the official EA Star Wars Twitter account, the progression was slowed in the beta, and credits were capped! This was in response to a fan asking about the missions available in the beta.

This is definitely welcome news for some (including me)! I assumed the credits cap was final, but confirmation that we can earn more per match is welcome news, no?

With EA saying they’re “continuing to listen” to fan feedback regarding Battlefront II, let’s hope some other stuff are ironed out, and we won’t have to worry about loot crates, and grinding for XP at all.

Are you happy with this news or would this mean that players would reach the level cap too quickly?

Ed Boon Discusses Possibilty of Injustice 2 Port for Nintendo Switch

Despite Injustice 2 being only available on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platform since its release earlier this year. It seems that the DCU based fighter could add another platform to it’s availability in the near future.

Very recently, Ed Boon the Creative Director for the Injustice franchise recently spoke to GameSpot during the Brazil Game Show and chimed in on possibly bringing Injustice 2 to the Nintendo Switch. Boon  reveals that while there’s interest on exploring the Nintendo Switch for some of his titles such as Injustice 2, it won’t be met without some compromises.

While he doesn’t exactly state what some of these compromises may be, it is plausible if the game sees a Switch port the graphics may be toned down a bit to get the game running smoothly,  or other shortcuts, such as particle effects and other taxing resources being tweaked a bit accommodate the Nintendo Switch.

Additionally, Boon states that’s not the only hurdle that the NetherRealm Studios may encounter with the possibility of a Switch port as he states, “I think we would need to set up something in terms of an external team. I know on the art team, we have enough people to do three console SKUs, and that would be something we’d need to work out.”

If so, this means that the Switch port of the game would be handled by a third-party developer, which may be quite an issue as past experiences with external developers handling NetherRealm Studios titles lead to less than stellar experiences, such as the PC port for Mortal Kombat X. Where those who’ve purchased the game on the PC platform experienced some big issues to the game that weren’t fixed for months on end.

Of course this isn’t confirmation of the game coming out for the Nintendo Switch, but with the continuing post-launch support of Injustice 2. A Nintendo Switch version shouldn’t be too far out of the realm of possibility if the demands from fans is pretty strong.

Latest Path Of Exile Patch Adds Persistent Specters and More

With what felt like an eternity for the Path Of Exile community who’ve been addressing their concern over the specter builds being a hassle to play. Have had their voices finally heard with the recently released Path Of Exile patch that’s now available on the PC platform.

The Path of Exile patch sees the specter skill gem include a very big quality of life change to it that allows them to still be alive even if the user has logged out of the game. Aside from this very welcomed fix to the game, here’s what the rest of the 3.0.2 patch for Path Of Exile also includes:

3.0.2 Patch Notes

  • Added initial French, German and Spanish language support for Path of Exile. If you can read these languages, please try them out and let us know your feedback!
  • Your Spectres and Auras are now saved when you log out or are disconnected.
  • Spectres no longer have their level reduced to the level of the area they are in. Instead, the level of a Spectre is now based on the lowest of either the level of the monster they were raised from, or the maximum level allowed by the skill gem used. This is now indicated on the skill gem.
  • Desecrate can now only create monsters that are in the instance it is used in. In areas where no monsters have spawned, a specific desecrate table is used. This fixes a longstanding bug with the desecration list that had further problems introduced due to persistent spectres.
  • Added two new unique items: Malachai’s Mark and Dialla’s Malefaction.
  • The Plaguemaw V Prophecy can now be completed in the Crystal Veins or a Crystal Ore Map.
  • Changed some of the interactions between certain on-flask-use effects and the unique belt Umbilicus Immortalis for consistency. For example, effects that care about when you use a flask (and not the effect of the flask itself) will apply to you but not your minions.
  • Fixed various issues with the quest status of Standard characters that were made prior to 3.0.0.
  • Fixed a bug that was causing some Standard characters to not receive a free bandit choice respec.
  • Fixed a bug that could cause some Standard characters to receive resistance penalties earlier than intended.
  • Fixed a bug where flasks that remove bleeding did not remove stacking bleeding from the Crimson Dance keystone.
  • Fixed a bug where the Brutal Fervour ascendancy passive would not remove Crimson Dance bleeding.
  • Fixed a bug where increases and reductions to the effect of flasks were also being added to the percentage of recovery granted instantly by flasks with the “Bubbling” mod. This caused several issues if this percentage exceeded 100%.
  • Fixed a bug where instant “of Animation” flasks were healing minions for more life than intended.
  • Fixed a bug where some flask recovery rate modifiers were not correctly accelerating flask recovery, only shortening the duration of the flask effect.
  • Fixed a bug where losing the stat for leeching Energy Shield instead of Life while you had active instances of Energy Shield leech could stop the maximum leech rate cap applying to them. This commonly happened with the Soul Tether unique item.
  • Fixed a bug where the increased Energy Shield Recharge Rate granted by Discipline was not working.
  • Fixed a bug where ailments reflected by the Yugul pantheon power could bypass immunities.
  • Fixed a bug where the damage penalty on Static Strike’s explosion wasn’t being correctly applied to the ailments created by the explosion.
  • Fixed a bug where the Chill applied by The Pandemonius lasted for 2 seconds, rather than 1.
  • Fixed a bug where some lava traps were not disabled after Izaro was killed.
  • Fixed a bug that caused duplicate Darkshrines to appear in the Labyrinth. For example, you should no longer be able to get ‘Twice Blessed’ multiple times in a single Labyrinth.
  • Fixed a bug where traps would not be disabled in the Aspirant’s Trial if a player entered it prior to getting the ‘Labyrinth Traps are disabled in the Aspirant’s Trial” darkshrine effect.
  • Fixed a bug where the Curse Pylons in the final stage of the Izaro encounter were not applying their curses to the player.
  • Fixed a bug where the Unbearable Whispers III Prophecy was not correctly triggering from the Act 6 or Act 9 Shavronne encounters.
  • Fixed a rare bug where Cemetery maps could generate inside-out, rendering the majority of their terrain unwalkable.
  • Fixed a rare bug that could cause a player to have incorrect dialogue options available when speaking to Navali.
  • Fixed a bug where the Ultimate Chaos Portal and the Pure Light Portal did not have audio.
  • Fixed a bug where recovering a flask charge via Nature’s Boon while in the midst of a Skin Transfer would cancel the Skin Transfer.
  • Fixed a bug that could cause players to lose some progress towards the “Gain Splinters from Unique Breach monsters” challenge.
  • Fixed a bug where Doryani’s Touch was able to damage enemies through walls.
  • Fixed a bug where Atziri’s Empowered Flameblast was not dealing damage to everything within its area of effect.
  • Fixed a bug introduced in 3.0.1e where Arcane Surge would not trigger from channelled skills.
  • Fixed a bug where some bosses were using an incorrect Arc effect.
  • Fixed a bug where players could be disconnected to the login screen after a mandatory character rename.
  • Fixed a rare issue where the quest tracker would not display Prophecies correctly.
  • Fixed a clipping issue with the Pitch Black Armour set.
  • Fixed various clipping issues with the Raven Armour set.
  • Using a Portal in the Blood Aqueduct now takes you back to the Sarn Encampment, instead of to Highgate.
  • Efficacy Support now correctly supports Damage over Time effects.
  • Kitava’s minions are now properly killed off when Kitava dies.
  • Improved the visual effect of the Dusk Weapon Effect on various unique items.
  • Improved the audio effects of Volatile Core.
  • Fixed various client crashes.

However, with every good there’s some bad. As despite the changes to the specter skill gem, the Path Of Exile community isn’t too happy with the recent changes to the desecrate skill gem which goes hand in hand with specters. Due to the recent changes to desecrate, people are finding trying to spawn corpses of specific monsters to be very time consuming. Or simply not getting certain corpses to spawn period.

Path Of Exile is a free-to-play aprg that’s currently available on the PC and Xbox One platforms.

It’s been quite a hectic day if you’re a Star Wars Battlefront II fan. We got the pricing details of the “Crystals” currency earlier today, there’s also EA’s Community Manager saying “nothing is final” when it comes to the game’s loot crates and other stuff, and we have EA finally breaking the silence on the loot crates and how the progression system won’t be pay-to-win.

Make sure to read our Battlefront II beta impressions on both infantry and Starfighter Assault as well to give you a better understanding on how it plays.

Expect more Battlefront II info to come out as we get nearer the game’s November 17 release date.
