Modern Warfare Mercenary Playlist and More Incoming Soon

Tired of playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare multiplayer and going up against teams in squads? If you are, you’ll be happy to know that Infinity Ward has essentially confirmed that a Modern Warfare Mercenary playlist is on the way.

This was mentioned by the studio in its weekly Community Update blog post where it also shared that 10v10 is coming to Atlas Superstore, and more are on the way. Those not familiar with Mercenary, it’s a term Call of Duty uses for playlists that don’t allow parties.

What are we working on?

How about a little Mercenary Moshpit fun? We’re also big fans of 10v10 on Atlas Superstore, but…maybe Cranked Kill Confirmed? Or maybe you’re a fan of all three? Keep an eye out for more details on our Twitter, @InfinityWard!

In addition to that, the studio also shared some of the changes they’ve made to Call of Duty: Warzone since its launch earlier this week:

Since the release of Warzone on Tuesday, we’ve made a few adjustments:

  • A patch that enables the text chat in Modern Warfare multiplayer and also fixes a bug that gave inconsistent rewards when completing contracts in Battle Royale.
  • Lowered the player count requirements needed to start a match
  • Fixed an exploit where players were able to counter the gas ring in Battle Royale

Given the announcement, expect this new Modern Warfare Mercenary playlist to be available this coming Tuesday, March 17 as a server-side update. Unless of course, Infinity Ward releases a new patch.

In other Modern Warfare news, make sure to toggle your mini map to a square one and here’s why.

Predator Hunting Grounds Dutch Cameo Possibly Hinted at by Arnold Schwarzenegger

We are just one month away from the official release of Predator: Hunting Grounds, and while Sony and Illfonic games have shown plenty of footage surrounding the game, the one question that keeps running through everyone’s mind is: Will it have any cameos from the movies? While that question remained to be answered, it would seem that Arnold Schwarzenegger may have let slip a potential Predator Hunting Grounds Dutch cameo for the game, or at least a Predator game.

Speaking to TheArnoldFans at the Arnold Sports Festival in Columbus, Ohio, here’s what Schwarzenegger had to say concerning his role in an upcoming video game.

The other day Predator came on, and I said to my girlfriend, “Let’s watch the beginning.” And we ended up watching the whole thing because it still held up today. Other movies don’t hold up, but movies like Predator and the first Terminator really hold up, and it was really fun to watch. Interesting enough, a week later I was asked to do some voice-over for a video game that is coming out about Predator. So it was great that I watched it to get back in that mood again to do the voice-over.

Well, unless we missed the announcement, or Arnold just accidentally spoiled a new Predator game, chances are high that he is referring to the upcoming Predator: Hunting Grounds. There hasn’t been any official news that the game would feature any characters from the movie (outside the Predator, duh), but with Illfonic previous work with Friday The 13th, we wouldn’t count them out.

Predator: Hunting Grounds is launching April 24 for the PlayStation 4 and PC. PlayStation Plus subscribers and PC owners will have the opportunity to test drive a free weekend of Hunting Grounds. This free trial will begin on Friday, March 27 and run until Sunday, March 29.

Call of Duty: Warzone Players Now at Over 15 Million

In news that should shock no one, it looks like Call of Duty: Warzone is a booming success! While Infinity Ward announced that the free-to-play battle royale mode of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare already reached over six million players in just 24 hours of being available, there’s way more Call of Duty: Warzone players now.

Over on Twitter, Activision announced that Warzone has crossed over 15 million players today!

https://twitter.com/CallofDuty/status/1238632552946003969

While I’m not really surprised at this given Call of Duty is arguably the biggest brand in all of gaming, and Warzone is, y’know, free, 15 million in just a few days is no easy feat. And I don’t see this number trailing off anytime soon, too.

Are you surprised at this announcement? Do you think Warzone has what it takes to dethrone Fortnite, PUBG and Apex Legends? Or has it done that already? Share your thoughts down in the comments below.

Latest PS4 and PS5 Controller Attachment Patent Brings “Tactile Feedback” for the Visually Impaired

The latest PS4 and PS5 controller patent filing by Sony Computer Interactive sees a new controller attachment that has the ability to produce a wide variety of functions, including brail for the blind.

The patent, which went public yesterday details the functionality of the device which slips on top of the touchpad of a Dualshock 4 controller. It was specified that this would function on both the PS4 and PS5.

The information processing apparatus may also have access to, and enable communication via, the internet. In one example, the information processing apparatus is a games console, such as the PS4™ or PS5™ and the games controller is a PS4 DualShock

1.A system comprising: a portable device for providing tactile feedback to a user; and a handheld games controller, the games controller comprising a receiving portion for securing the portable device to the games controller via the connecting portion; the portable device comprising: a communication interface operable to receive text information; a tactile pad comprising a plurality of touch elements for generating a respective tactile output; a connecting portion for securing the portable device to a handheld games controller; and a processor configured to receive the text information and to control the tactile output of at least some of the touch elements based on the received text information; the handheld games controller comprising a touch sensitive surface, and wherein the portable device is positioned over the touch sensitive surface; and pressure applied by a user onto the portable device is relayed to the touch sensitive surface of the handheld games controller.

2. The system according to claim 1, wherein the tactile pad comprises: a flexible layer; a plurality of pins arranged below the flexible layer; a plurality of actuators, each actuator being operable to control at least one of a displacement and size of one or more respective pins so as to deform the flexible layer; and wherein the touch elements comprise the plurality of pins, the processor being configured to control at least one of the displacement and size of the pins based on the received text information.

4. The system according to claim 1, wherein the processor is configured to map the received text information to braille; and wherein the processor is configured to control the tactile output of at least some of the touch elements so as to output a first portion of the received text information in braille.

Down below are some images of the peripheral, with one even showing God of War being used with it.

Talk about some pretty innovating stuff right there! If this pushes through, it should help visually impared people play games, which is a definite win in our book. Note that Sony filing a patent doesn’t mean this is guaranteed to see the light of day.

In other PS5 controller news, Sony has announce some of the new features the PS5 controller will have, which you can read about here.

Here’s a Temporary Call of Duty: Warzone PC Crashing Fix

For those playing Call of Duty: Warzone on PC, you’ve most likely ran into crashing issues since it launched earlier this week. While Infinity Ward hasn’t issued a Warzone PC crashing fix just yet, someone else managed to find a fix — albeit, temporarily.

Over on the Call of Duty: Warzone subreddit, user Slimshade16 posted that if PC players downgraded their NVIDIA graphics to a lower version, it does the trick! According to the user, once he’s done this, he managed to play the game for five hours, and it the crashing stopped.

If you have an Nvidia graphics card, downgrade your graphics drivers to version 440.97.

Here is the link: https://www.nvidia.com/Download/driverResults.aspx/152654/en-us

Simply download the drivers, run the express installation, and then restart your computer. When you load Warzone back up it will give you the typical “for best performance upgrade your drivers” message. Ignore that and just load up the game. It will take a couple of minutes for shaders to install and for everything to load up, but once it does, the crashing should stop.

I signed on this morning and crashed my first 2 games (I had version 442.59 installed). I got tired of it and decided to downgrade my drivers and since then I have played for about 5 hours and haven’t crashed one time.

Hopefully, IW or Nvidia will release a proper update to stop the crashing so we don’t have to continually find temporary fixes just to play the damn game.

Again, note that this is not an official solution, but one that’s very much needed. As for Infinity Ward, the studio is aware of the crashing issues, and is asking players who are experiencing this to fill out this form. The studio has also outlined a few troubleshooting tips that players need to do before filling out the form:

~Perform a clean install of graphics drivers

~Ensure your drivers are updated

~Ensure you have the latest version of Windows installed

~ Run a Scan and Repair through BattleNet

Hopefully, an official fix will be rolled out ASAP, so PC players can experience Warzone without worrying about crashing their game every other match.

In other Warzone news, Infinity Ward has confirmed that players who down enemies will get the kill credit and this will be changed in an upcoming update.

Tennocon 2020 Goes Fully Digital, Digital Extremes Transitions to Work-From-Home

To kick off the recent Warframe devstream, Digital Extremes has announced that Tennocon 2020 will now be fully streamed this July.

This was revealed by the Digital Extreme team along with a prepared statement during the stream:

Due to widespread concern of COVID-19, we’ve made the extremely difficult decision to cancel the attendee decision of Tennocon 2020. Which means, Tennocon goes fully digital. This was not an easy decision, and the health and well being of our players and dev team is our top priority. Sharing the magic and excitement of Tennocon is very important to us. We are putting together plans to put enable every Tenno worldwide to digitally share in the magic of Tennocon 2020 on July 11. More details, of course, will come soon and we will keep you posted on it.

Bummer, but at least they withheld from selling any tickets ahead of time to help eliminate any kind of refund process and travel arrangements. Fans can still look forward to all the major announcements, and hopefully be able to participate in the event somehow, be it through the Stream or an in-game event.

Unfortunately, this isn’t the only bad news announced. Digital Extremes also revealed that in an effort to prevent any potential spread, the team is transitioning into a work-from-home mode from March 16 to the 20. This sadly means that the schedule devstream for next week is now canceled. As for when the next one will happen, Digital Extremes stated to stay tuned for the following week as they’ll give us an update once further assessments have been made.

As for how this may impact players and the game? Well, while Operation Scarlet Spear is still set to launch this month, it was noted that the team wants to target next week for release. However,  due to the work-from-home transition, this may push it back a bit. An update on its launch is expected to hit next week.

Hunt: Showdown Review – Experience Necessary

On paper, Crytek’s Hunt: Showdown should be right up my alley. A mix of PvE and PvP monster-hunting FPS with persistent leveling, gorgeous visuals and a robot series of upgrade paths. For this to work at its best it requires teamwork and communication. Unfortunately, the reality is hampered by whether or not you’re playing with friends because with randoms it plays like the video game equivalent of applying for a job that requires experience but since no one will hire you, you can’t get the required experience.

Killing Is My Business…

Hunt: Showdown is set in the 1890s, you’re tasked with hunting down and banishing various monsters from the world. At the start, you are given some options of hunters with preset load-outs that can be changed as you level up and acquire the in-game currencies to purchase new weapons, perks, and consumables.

At the start of the match, you are spawned at one of the maps starting locations and must make your away across it to find clues that will lead you to the location of the monsters you’re hunting. Once you have found three clues you can approach and kill the monster and then banish it. Once banished you collect the bounty and have to make your way to one of the map’s extraction points. Sounds simple enough.

Making matters far more challenging is that there are other player teams attempting to do the same thing and they can halt your progress by killing you at any point during the match. Sometimes death at the hands of other players will come swiftly if you happen to cross paths before finding all of the clues, other times it could come while fighting the monster you’re hunting. Once the banishing begins all of the players are notified and enemy hunters have a finite amount of time to converge on the area highlighted on the map. In one instance I was able to kill the enemy player while they were trying to extract with the bounty so I collected it from their corpse and my team escaped with the spoils.

Blues Clues

The only notifications you have of enemy locations prior to when the banishing starts is through the sound of their gunshots. In this case, a good pair of headphones helps immeasurably. These audio cues can either pull you to them or send you the other way to avoid confrontation and head to one of the other clue areas highlighted on the screen by holding down the R1 button and employing “Dark Sight” which turns the screen black and white save for some glowing blue areas in the distance.

Making your way to these clues will take you through all manner of structures and environments. Along the way, there are NPC enemies to contend with ranging for your standard, slow-moving zombies called “Grunts” to a Hive, which is a misshapen woman who sends swarms of poisonous bees at you, to Meatheads that are super tough tank-like enemies that will rush you a powerful melee attack. Different enemies can cause different kinds of status damage such as the aforementioned poison, as well as bleed and burn. Different perks can be equipped prior to the start of the match that mitigates the damage by these status effects.

Once the match is over you’re awarded points and currency, win or lose, for a litany of things you have done during the match including finding clues and killing enemy players or reviving a downed teammate. You can use this currency to buy better weapons, consumables, perks, and abilities as well as new Hunters. Abilities and perks include using less stamina when sprinting, getting a health boost from finding clues, and a lot more. In theory, perks seem to work best with a coordinated, balanced team so each player can have certain strengths and abilities and weapons. And if you have such a team, Hunt: Showdown is a blast.

Put Me In, Coach

Unfortunately for me, I rarely had that experience due to my limited time to be able to play at night and literally no friends that wanted this game. So within days I was out-leveled by other players in the community and found out through many, many attempts to team up with randoms, they don’t really want to play with players at lower levels. This can and will be very frustrating because one night I spent literally an hour trying to matchmake only to get two players and have them quit the lobby almost instantly. I mean, I get it. They don’t know me and probably don’t want to have to carry me, despite me being able to pull my weight even at a low level, low skill. And I get that this is “me” thing.

Hunt: Showdown is a very good game with a lot of neat features that can offer months of replayability to unlock everything.  However, I can only really recommend if you have friends to play with because in 2020, finding randoms worth playing with is about as common as finding a unicorn in Manhattan.

Score: 7/10

(If you’re fortunate enough to find or have people to play with, add a point to my final score)

Pros

  • Hunting Monsters
  • Co-op works really well
  • Good enemy variety on maps
  • PvEvP works really well
  • Robust leveling system
  • Excellent sound design that enhances gameplay

Cons

  • Hard to find matches with other players who keep quitting unless you do quickplay
  • The above can seriously hamper your enjoyment

Dead by Daylight Update 1.86 Released on PS4, Here’s What It Does

While we just got the big Dead by Daylight “Chains of Hate” update earlier this week, Behaviour Interactive has released Dead by Daylight update 1.86 now on PS4! As with almost any patch out after a big content drop, this one is primarily for fixes.

Dead by Daylight update 1.86 changes:

Over on Twitter, Behaviour Interactive released what’s in Dead by Daylight update 1.86, and it’s for a fix regarding a purchasing issue. Once the patch has been applied, players can expect the missing Auric Cells once they’ve finished restarting the game client.

A fix has been deployed on PS4 regarding the purchasing issue that was affecting some players. After installing the update, the affected players will receive the missing Auric Cells upon a full restart.

And yes, that’s basically it. While there’s a chance that Behaviour Interactive included gameplay changes without documenting ’em, we doubt that’s the case now. If you do spot any gameplay-related changes, let us know down in the comments or send us an email (we’ll credit you if we use it in the post).

What other changes or bug fixes should Behaviour Interactive fix ASAP? Sound off, and let us know down below. For everything Dead by Daylight, make sure to bookmark our Dead by Daylight game hub.

If you’ve played Call of Duty: Warzone and noticed that unlike other battle royale games, it doesn’t reward player who down enemies with the kill, don’t fret! The Call of Duty Warzone kill credit will change in an upcoming update!

Over on Twitter, Co-Design Director of Multiplayer Joe Cecot answered a fan who asked about this and confirmed it’s changing in an upcoming update.

https://twitter.com/JoeCecot/status/1237957454677204992

In the next title update (larger update) the person who downed will get the kill credit. The change just missed release.

Aside from that, Cecot also confirmed the bug in Plunder mode wit the balloon.

https://twitter.com/JoeCecot/status/1238198239536410624

Fixed this in dev. Will be in a future update!

Another thing the studio is looking into is how armor plates aren’t equippable mid-way through matches.

https://twitter.com/JoeCecot/status/1238291454058835968

Finally, for those experiencing low frame rates whenever their teammate picks up a mission, the studio is aware of it and testing a fix!

https://twitter.com/JoeCecot/status/1237583630785863682

Testing a fix

While we got a Call of Duty: Warzone server-side update yesterday, the changes outlined here might require an actual patch to be downloaded before taking effect.

In other Warzone news, Activision has announced that the game has garnered over six million players in just 24 hours of availability! Infinity Ward has also tucked away secret bunkers in the game, and no one knows what they do just yet.

What other stuff should Infinity Ward fix first? Let us know down in the comments.

Rumor- Crash Bandicoot 4 Remaster & Crash PvP in Development, Sledgehammer Making F2P Call of Duty

Remember back in August when Activision said that they have an announcement concerning the future of remasters? Well, it seems that a Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortext (otherwise known as Crash Bandicoot 4) remastered is in development, along with a Crash PvP (player vs player), title, as well as a free-to-play Call of Duty title from Sledgehammer Games (Call of Duty: WWII).

This was announced by YouTuber TheGamingRevolution, who has a lengthy accurate track record of leaking information regarding Call of Duty and more so recently, Call of Duty: Warzone. TGR is stating that Activision is working on two Crash Bandicoot titles, a free-to-play Call of Duty game, and more! He adds, the Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex Remastered is slated to be Activision’s next big title to release, with plans of releasing an online player-versus-player focus crash game sometimes in 2021.

Of course, this being a rumor you should always take things with a grain of salt, but given TGR has been spot-on with a good chunk of his leaks,  we say there may be some truth to this. Just for context, nearly eight months back, when the rumors started pouring in for Modern Warfare, TGR stated the game would included a battle royale mode, despite Infinity Ward stating that they weren’t working on one. He published an image of a rough sketch of what the battle royale map would look like, which is laughably bad, but the locations are pretty dam spot on. In another post, he even accurately said the game mode would feature 150 players.

The list of accurate leaks he has published within the last year goes on. While I personally would absolutely love more Crash games, and a remaster treatment of the fourth Crash game would be great, I’m not too sure I like the idea of a PvP Crash game, though that all depends. For all we know it could very well be a new Crash Kart Racing game as there is player-versus-player competitive racing in it. Guess we will have to wait and see where this rumor takes us.

What’s interesting here is the Sledgehammer F2P Call of Duty game. Is this another battle royale-themed title? Or is Activision making a full-fledged Call of Duty title that’s going F2P? We’ve reached out to Activision regarding this latest round of rumors, and will update the post if we hear anything back.

CD Projekt Red’s Largest Team to Work on Cyberpunk 2077 Multiplayer After Core Game Releases

CD Projekt Red has announced that after Cyberpunk 2077 launches, they will be deploying their largest team to work on Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer.

The details come from the Polish business site. Stooq, where CD Projekt Red’s board of director, Adam Kiciński confirmed some of their post-Cyberpunk 2077 plans. These included dispatching a small team to work on their next big single-player game (presumed to be a new Witcher game), along with dividing two of their largest teams to continue work on the Cyberpunk series. The largest of these two will begin work on the recently announced Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer title, while the other will continue making content for Cyberpunk 2077, including expansions. This will be part of their strategy as the team wants to solely focus on the two franchises (Cyberpunk and Witcher).

“We just want to do a little more games – we’ll prove that we can do two big games at the same time, which will take us quite a few years,”

However, despite them devoting their largest team on the multiplayer/networking side of things, don’t expect it to drop anytime soon as additional content for Cyberpunk is still their main priority. This was confirmed in the same article, clarifying that the multiplayer would not drop until the add-ons are complete. No surprise, as back in January they mentioned during their financial call that we were likely to see a release date for Cyberpunk 2077 Multiplayer mode sometimes after 2021.

How does this news sound to you? Being an avid fan of CD Projekt Red, should they perhaps devote more resources to their upcoming single-player offerings instead? Should CD Projekt Red even bother with a multiplayer title? Or do you feel that it’s the right move by the team and great risk for them? Let us know in the comment down below!

This first post will revolve around Baldur’s Gates 3 character customization as it was one of the most asked questions.

While the options are still a work in progress, game producer David Walgrave assured fans that Baldur’s Gate 3 character customization will allow players to get as in-depth as they want to.

Character creation can be as in depth as you want it to be 🙂

After you select a race and a class, you could be all set and ready to go, but if you want to, you can dive in deeper, and change all the abilities, spells, skills, cantrips… and customize visuals.

You will be able to select a face type, hairdo, facial hair, skin color. I cannot give numbers or details, because it’s still a work in progress, but there won’t be sliders.

Although the game won’t feature a slider (at this time), David did go on to say that this is their most diverse character creator they have ever created.

We have more diversity in creation than in any other game we’ve done before. You’ll be able to mix and match a wide variety of defaults, to create something unique.

Senior writer, Adam Smith added a bit more to the importance of custom characters and how unique they can be in the world of Baldur Gates 3. He also confirmed that they will have full voice acting with players able to select which voice they want to use.

I’m Adam, one of the Senior Writers on BG 3 😀 . Custom characters are hugely important to us, and when you choose your class, race and background, you’ll already have made choices that have an impact throughout the game – both in terms of what you can do, how you’re perceived, and what you know. But just as in tabletop, it’s what you do after character creation and how you choose to roleplay that character that will make your adventure and character unique. In many ways, they’re more unique, because you made them.

The world and the characters that populate it – whether companions, NPCs, enemies or potential allies – will remember and react to your actions and attitude. Custom characters are central to the arc of BG3, and as your journey unfolds, you’ll walk your own path. And when your story ends, you’ll have determined your own fate… and the fate of many others.

Yes, custom characters will have voice acting – you’ll choose a voice as part of character creation.

Adam Smith went on to also gave a comment when asked about whether or not Baldur Gates 3 would see a Game Master mode, similar to the one in Divinity: Original Sins. While he didn’t explicitly state the game will have it, he did hint it would make sense for the team to eventually do one.

When we built GM mode for Original Sin, we were, of course, thinking of D&D and how long it had been since anyone had made such a mode. So yeah it’d make a lot of sense, but we’re focusing on developing the game first at the moment…

Hopefully, if the mode does return it offers a lot more options than the one found in Divinity.  Baldur’s Gates 3 will be releasing this year on PC for early access.

Borderlands 3 March 12 Update Released via Server-Side, Changes Listed

Gearbox Software has released the Borderlands 3 March 12 update on all platforms, and it brings a host of changes and  improvements. This is a server-side patch, and no download is necessary. Players will know that it’s been implemented by waiting until a “Hotfixes Applied” sign posted on the sign post on the main menu.

Borderlands 3 March 12 update changes:

GENERAL

  • Addressed a reported concern that was causing Typhon to sometimes be a potential blocker in “Shadow of Starlight”
  • Addressed a reported concern that the Jabbermogwai was sometimes not dropping loot at the correct rate

CHARACTERS

We’re looking to go over each of the Vault Hunters to identify any inconsistencies in gameplay. Some of these concerns will have to be addressed via patches, but for issues such as incorrect values being listed, we’re able to adjust in hotfixes.

  • Removed the Gunner’s “General Winter” minigun damage penalty and Cryo penalty.
  • Adjusted the Gunner’s “Exploding. Bullets.” skill to match the current damage output, which was sometimes higher than stated on the skill description
  • Addressed an issue with the Beastmaster’s “Furious Attack” skill where it was sometimes rounding its values and making the skill description and damage output appear inconsistent
  • Addressed an issue with the Beastmaster’s “Hunter’s Eye” skill where the skill description was sometimes showing values from incorrect fields

LOCATION RE-BALANCING

This adjustment will only affect new characters as we continue to improve and balance progression. We’ll first implement this change on Friday, March 13 for PC players on Steam and Epic; players on all other platforms (PlayStation®4, Xbox One, Stadia, and Mac) will receive these improvements in a patch coming later this month.

We found that new players were consistently entering certain areas over-leveled for the content they were playing. This occasionally trivialized those areas, as enemies were sometimes much weaker than intended for that point in the game. We also found that some side missions later in the game were largely ignored because of these balance irregularities. These balance changes bring the enemies up to the average level that we see players hitting in these locations.

  • Various areas and side missions on Nekrotafeyo should now match the average level of players
  • Enemies in The Anvil should now match the average level of players

WEAPONS

Sickle

  • Addressed a reported concern that the “Boom” prefix was sometimes not receiving the buff from last week’s hotfix

Boomer

  • Increased weapon damage

The Garcia

  • Increased the Fire Rate
  • Increased the number of projectiles shot

Hellfire

  • Increased weapon damage
  • Increased the Damage Over Time amount

Hyperfocus XZ41

  • Increased weapon damage

Linc

  • Increased weapon damage

Nemesis

  • Increased weapon damage

Nimble Jack

  • Increased weapon damage
  • Added 100% Bonus Critical Damage

Ogre

  • Increased weapon damage

One Pump Chump

  • Increased weapon damage

Roisen’s Thorns

  • Increased weapon damage

Sawbar

  • Increased weapon damage
  • Adjusted the timing of when the three projectiles split to be sooner

SkekSil

  • Increased the Extra Projectile Damage

Tankman’s Shield

  • Increased the Maximum Damage Cap by 200%
  • Increased the percent damage awarded per kill

Once we get another hotfix, event or a new patch, we’ll let our readers know ASAP.

Overwatch Update 2.84 Introduces Share Replays & More, Full Patch Notes

Blizzard Entertainment has released Overwatch update 2.84 today, and it’s live on all platforms! This introduces Share Replays, bug squashes, hero balancing changes and lots more! There’s no event, but this is one hefty Overwatch update.

Overwatch update 2.84 patch notes:

OVERWATCH ARCHIVES 2020

Experience story-driven co-op missions from pivotal moments in Overwatch history. While the event is active, earn Archives Loot Boxes containing skins, highlight intros, emotes, and sprays inspired by moments from Overwatch’s past. And, new this year, demonstrate your tactical finesse with weekly Challenge Missions. Challenge Missions allow you to play Uprising, Retribution, and Storm Rising with new gameplay twists.

GENERAL UPDATES

New Feature: Share Replays

Players can now share their in-game replays with others!

A replay is shared via an alphanumeric code typically 6 characters long. The code can be shared however you want: in game, on forums, over social media. Another player can input that code and watch your replay. Codes are valid until the next patch.

The replay system has also received several improvements:

  • Pin up to 10 replays to keep until the next patch. Unpin a replay to make room for a different replay
  • The 10 most recently imported replay codes are tracked. This allows you to watch the same imported replay again without retyping the code
  • There is a new note field for each replay entry, allowing you to add descriptions or notes for yourself

General Updates

  • In game friend requests will now only display in game once per session
  • RealID friend requests will only show RealID names in game if you have recently played with that player
  • The initial Assemble Heroes timer for games using the Assault, Hybrid, Control, and Payload game modes has been further reduced from 35 to 30 seconds
  • In the Assault, Payload, and Hybrid game modes for Competitive Play, when both teams complete a round of offense and have more than 2 minutes of time bank then each team’s time bank is equally reduced until one of the teams has a 2 minutes remaining
    • Example: If Team A completes a round of offense on Volskaya with 4:37 remaining in their time bank, and Team B completes their round on offense with 2:50 remaining, then 50 seconds is removed from each team’s timebank. This leaves the teams tied 2-2 and Team A with 3:47 remaining and Team B with 2:00 remaining

  • Season 3 of Competitive 6v6 Lockout Elimination has begun!

Told you it was a big patch. We’ll be on the lookout for the next Overwatch event and patch. Don’t forget that there’s an Overwatch animated show being developed — or at least rumored to be. The Overwatch League matches are also cancelled due to COVID-19.

Mortal Kombat 11 Voice Actors Are Returning to Voice New Stuff

It would appear that work in underway for some new Mortal Kombat 11 content, as one of the main voice actors, has confirmed he’s working on new recordings.

In a post on his Instagram, Mortal Kombat’s 11 voice actor, Richard Epcar (Raiden, Joker) posted the following image with some text.

If you knew what I was recording today you’d squeal like a pig! #richardepcar #warnerbros #yinandyang #netherrealmstudios

A post shared by Richard Epcar (@richardepcar) on

If you knew what I was recording today you’d squeal like a pig

What’s more, he uses the hashtag “#yinandyang#”, which actually does have some significance in the Mortal Kombat series outside of the story. For those who don’t remember, or never played it, in Mortal Kombat Deception there was a stage called “Ying Tang Island” which took place on the beach. The map was rather unique as it would alternate between sunny and rainy weather variation during combat, thus the name.  Of course, this is just speculation, but seeing as the actor voices Raiden who happens to be one of Mortal Kombat’s 11 character announcers, if it was a new stage then he would need to record a few new lines.

Richard isn’t the only confirmed voice actor to be making his way back to the Studios at Warner Bros as Steve Blum (Sub-Zero) has also confirmed his presence there.

So grateful to still be doin’ the thing after all these years. #ilovemyjob

A post shared by Steve Blum (@blumspew) on

We wouldn’t be surprised if this ends up being just that as we already have confirmation that more DLC content is planned for Mortal Kombat 11.  It’s also possible that the studio got Richard back to record any future DLC lines, as most new dialogue that comes with each DLC is pre-recorded well ahead of their reveals.
