Battlefield 5 Upcoming Changes Based on Patch 5.2 Community Feedback Revealed

Just a few days ago, we reported that DICE would be sharing an update from the studio regarding their response from the community feedback from patch 5.2 (and the changes to the time to kill). It seems that day is today! In the latest Battlefield 5 Community Broadcast, DICE has outlined some of the Battlefield 5 upcoming changes based on community feedback from patch 5.2!

According to DICE, this will be deployed via a hotfix, which means there’s probably not going to be a game client download for this. Curious with the changes? Read on.

Battlefield 5 upcoming changes based on patch 5.2:

This is the TL;DR of what we’re changing in an upcoming Hotfix:

  • With thanks to the feedback shared with us, BTK values on guns which have been too heavily impacted by the changes will change – both up close, and at range. You’ve told us you don’t like the way some of the guns behave since Update 5.2, and we’re keen to acknowledge the weapons that we got wrong.
  • We’re removing the Enemy Acquisition Icon’s which appeared when you were in close proximity to enemy players – we believe that it’s best for us to remove this system, and move on without it.
  • We’re making changes to the Enemy Acquisition Systems that activate when you’re aiming directly at a soldier – we’re lowering the activation range to 20M, improving how it behaves when enemies aren’t truly visible and narrowing the angle that determines when the icon appears. That’s in direct response to the feedback that you’ve shared with us on this system, and to offset the removal of ‘Passive Spotting’ – Thank you for the feedback here.
  • We’re testing improvements to Smoke Grenades to ensure these systems are blocked more responsibly in instances where they should have been.
  • We’re deploying a Hotfix as soon as we can to deliver on the above changes, alongside some other fixes related to general performance listed later on in this post.
  • Issues with End of Round, and Unlocks not unlocking are high priorities requiring updates to our backend servers. I’ll keep you updated on our progress with this but I want to assure you that your progression is correctly tracking in spite of the End of Round issues, and we are actively working on new scripts that will realign the systems.

What we’ve heard direct from you

  • These changes have reduced the amount of fun that you’re having with the game
  • The new weapon balancing has changed the way that you look at the weapons that you want to use, and pushed you towards weapons that you don’t want to use.
  • Some of the guns massively underperform compared to 5.0 and below our own performance expectations
  • Automatic Weapons are preferred at longer ranges
  • There are too many hitmarkers and you’re worried that the Zerg meta will return from Battlefield 1

What we’ve seen in terms of how the Update behaves

We set out with the intent of clarifying the roles of different guns and how they each perform at Range, without impacting the overall TTK, and with the intent to preserve the lethal nature of Battlefield V’s gunplay.

When we’ve spoken about this previously, we haven’t been clear enough with you that these changes are directly focused around what we know to be the common engagement ranges in the game. We have failed to be clearer in expressing that these changes are intended to raise the TTK when you’re engaging at much longer ranges, so that you’re more regularly changing your loadouts to suit the map and the distances you intend to pick fights at in what we know to be the common engagement ranges. Our goal for this Hotfix is to ensure that the TTK experience at short ranges is closer to how the game has behaved at the start of Chapter 5.

We have succeeded in achieving our goals in some places. We are happy to see that globally, Kills Per Minute (KPM) are up across the board, telling us that we have not reduced the pacing of the game, and we are seeing more kills at shorter ranges. We’ve kept the game as lethal as it always has been.

In some areas we missed the mark, and we thank you for the constructive feedback helping to highlight where things don’t feel right. We aim to address some of those items immediately. We’re all for making changes here, especially when it’s clear that our own goals and safeguards weren’t being achieved.

The FG42, SL1907, and MG42, and fast firing SMGs specifically have been rightfully called out as a TTK nerf. This was not the intent. These guns will see the most significant adjustments so that they return to levels much closer to how they operated before Update 5.2.

We’ve also adjusted weapons that specifically performed outside of their expected weapon class, or had other factors like magazine size that limited their intended performance level. The FG-42 is a good example of such a weapon, with a 20 round magazine, and a damage and range curve too similar to an SMG, it simply didn’t feel like an LMG anymore.

We were also unhappy with how the maximum damage drop off proved to be in the live environment, and have adjusted our global damage model so that no gun ever does less than 10 damage at range. We can see from range statistics that we are able to accomplish our goal of adjusting the effective combat range with the drop off distance, but the reduced damage was simply too punishing, so that’s a change we’re making in this upcoming Hotfix.

Weapon changes

ZK-383, EMP, MP40, STEN:

  • Improved damage model from 4-11 to 4-10 BTK

Light Bolt ZK-383, MP28, M1928A1, Suomi:

  • Improved damage model from 5-13 to 4-10 BTK with faster damage dropoff then the MP40 damage model
  • Increased Vertical Recoil by 25%, and Horizontal Recoil by 60%
Note: Due to an error with our Damage Tables, the M1928A1 will do 9.6 damage at maximum range making it a maximum 11 BTK, but this will be corrected in our next update.

Type 100:

  • Improved damage model from 5-12 to 5-10 BTK

StG 44:

  • Improved damage model from 5-8 to 4-8 BTK

Sturmgewehr 1-5:

  • Improved damage model from 6-9 to 5-9 BTK
  • Reduced Vertical Recoil by 25%, and Horizontal Recoil by 20%

M1907 SF:

  • Improved damage model from 5-13 to 4-10 BTK with reductions made to the damage dropoff.

Breda M1935 PG:

  • Improved damage model from 5-6 to 4-6 BTK

KE7, Type 97, Bren Gun, Lewis Gun:

  • Improved damage model from 5-8 to 4-8 BTK

LS/26:

  • Improved damage model from 4-11 to 4-9 BTK

FG-42:

  • Improved damage model from 5-13 to 4-9 BTK with slightly faster dropoff than the LS/26

VGO, MG 42:

  • Improved damage model from 5-13 to 4-10 BTK with reductions made to the damage dropoff.
  • Reduced Vertical Recoil by 25% and Horizontal Recoil by 20%
  • Fixed an issue where the MG42 dealt too much damage when using High Velocity Bullets

Turner SMLE, MAS 44:

  • Improved damage model to 3 BTK within 30 meters as these weapons had an incorrectly low maximum damage

Ag m/42:

  • Increased rate of fire from 300 to 360 rpm
  • This should better balance the Ag m/42 against the MAS44 and Turner SMLE
The full list of weapon changes is visible here (changes from the current version are highlighted in Green for ease of access).

Additional Changes to Enemy Acquisition

Below you’ll find a list of other changes we’re making in our Hotfix that change how these systems behave:

  • Completely removing the 5.2 enemy acquisition icons when not looking directly at an enemy player but who are inside your field of view
  • The range at which you can see an enemy icon if directly aiming at the player is now 20m, down from 25m.
  • The angle at which we consider that you are looking directly at an enemy player is now 3°, down from 6°
  • Making soldier icon occlusion a bit more strict to reduce the scenarios where an enemy icon could be visible, without the player being really visible on your screen
  • Fixing some issues with smoke grenades not blocking enemy icons consistently.
  • Reducing the impact of wind on smoke grenades to ensure that the blocking of the icons is more consistent with the shape of the smoke grenade effect.
  • Fixed issues with squad member names not being properly displayed above their head in close range or when in a vehicle.

When we are making these changes

  • We’re working to get these changes to you as fast as possible. I will have more details on rollout for the Hotfix closer to the time.

Hotfix Update Notes

General

  • Fixed an issue that would cause the MG42 High Velocity Bullet Specialization to not have the new damage model

Performance

  • Fixed an issue that was causing stuttering issues during a scenario that involved getting kills with the LVCP vehicle

Stability

  • Multiple crash fixes that we hope will improve overall game stability

Also, don’t forget to take part in the latest Battlefield 5 communty survey which touches on the 5.2 changes as well.

Are you happy with the Battlefield 5 upcoming changes or do you want the studio to just revert the time to kill (TTK) and whatnot to pre-5.2? Let us know down in the comments.

The Diamond Casino Heist gives you three distinct approaches to initially choose from, with multiple ways to execute your chosen approach. Choose Silent & Sneaky to enter undetected and try to make off with the haul before they even know what hit them. Engage in deception by going The Big Con route and masquerading as maintenance staff, pest control or other contractors. Or opt to go in guns blazing with the Aggressive approach – just be prepared to be met with increased resistance.

For each approach, you’ll have a series of choices for how you want to complete every step of the Heist. And if at any time your attempts at stealth or subterfuge somehow fail, you will still be able to complete the mission by dealing with any changing scenarios and pushing through to the end with your last remaining lives.

Destroying Signal Jammers:

There’s an old saying that it’s not really paranoia if they are out to get you. Look out for government signal jammers and destroy each one to earn yourself a reward. Doing so will get an expert hacker on your side, which might just come in handy…

Killer Clues:

Meanwhile, the Daily Globe is urging residents to stay indoors as the mystery of the Los Santos Slasher remains unsolved. Reports claim the killer is carrying out their bloody murders with an antique Navy Revolver, but while some clues leading to the location of the murderer have come to light, both killer and weapon are yet to be found.

Need for Speed Heat Update 1.04 Deployed, Here’s the Full Patch Notes

Ghost Games has released a new game patch for Need for Speed Heat! Called the NFS Heat update 1.5 by the studio, console gamers will see this as Need for Speed Heat 1.04. Clocking in at 5GB on PS4, 4,5GB on Xbox One, and 2.4GB on PC, this new patch address bugs, has quality of life changes, new content and more. Check out the Need for Speed Heat update 1.04 patch notes below.

Need for Speed Heat update 1.04 patch notes:

Quality of Life improvements

Holiday Vanity Items

It is the time of the year, the holiday season is approaching quickly. To help you decorate your cars in preparation for the festive time, we added some vanity items that you can purchase in the garage. You can pick up two horn sounds and two underglows, one each themed for Christmas for New Year’s, so you can drive around Palm City in seasonal style.

Quick Routing

You mentioned you wanted to spend less time reading the map and more time driving. Not only did we overhaul the look of the in-game phone app for better readability. We also implemented a quick routing option that you can access from the phone menu. This way, you can navigate to the nearest safe house or gas station quicker and more comfortable – and focus on shaking the cops.

Speedwalls

We all agree that racing is fun, but racing with friends is even better. To make it easier to see who in your crew clocked the fastest time, we are bringing Speedwalls to Sprint Races, Circuit Races and Off-road Races. For Drift Trials, you will be able to see which crew member racked up the highest score. Check who’s on top of the leaderboard for a specific track, and fine tune your ride to take their crown.

Environment – Night race intros

This was something you said you were missing a lot, as it sets the mood for the night races. As mentioned in the previous update notes for 1.4, we were always planning on fixing this bug and bringing the visual effects back. So we did. Fancy lights, smoke, cars, the whole package.

Polestar Hero Edition

Probably one of the most common questions after the release of Need for Speed Heat was about the Polestar that’s on the game cover. “But… can I drive it again?”. Joe was chased by Mercer and Shaw, the car was pushed off the bridge and it has been sitting on the bottom of the ocean since. Following this update, you can unlock the Polestar Hero Edition if you complete all the story missions: The main campaign as well as all driver stories. Just don’t drive it off a bridge again.

UI

  • When you exit or enter a garage, the “Enter Garage” prompt won’t suppress other HUD elements anymore. Which means you will see the map and speedometer as soon as you exit the garage.

  • As you build your rep and explore the map, you unlock activities and collectibles. We tweaked the UI to make it clearer that some of them are locked until you reach a certain Rep level.

  • When you’re customizing the performance parts of your car, you’ll now find a label informing you which part is currently equipped to that car / engine. It will also show how many of that specific part you own, and have a clearer call out when you’re buying a duplicate part.

Other

  • Some of you mentioned that you’re being busted while casually driving, albeit slowly – so we reduced the maximum speed that you can be busted at.

  • We also made a small tweak to the cop spawn mechanics in online play. Your experience should not be affected, there might just be fewer cop cars in areas without players.

Bugfixes

Missions

  • When you’re returning to the garage after the first night out, the reward from the “Make a Name” mission should now be banked correctly.

  • You can no longer complete the daily challenge “Drift over 164 yd in a single drift” while Wayne is commandeering the vehicle during the “Let it Slide” mission.

  • You should no longer be able to unlock the “Warp Speed” achievement during “The Exchange” cinematic.

  • Added missing subtitles for Traditional Chinese during “The Exchange”.

  • Lucas will no longer be floating during the intro of “Breaking the Law”.

  • When you’re out on your first night in the game, you’ll find that the event text is now saying “Finish the event” and no longer “Finish 1st”.

  • In the first night mission, Ana’s marker should now be pinned to the minimap, making her easier to find if you lose her.

Events

  • Some events are marked with an exclamation point, which means they have different levels you can switch between: The base level (lower car rating recommendation) and the challenge level (higher car rating recommendation). Some events had a lower reward for the challenge level than for the base level, which is corrected by this update.

  • Event rewards should now reset to their original value after entering and exiting the garage.

  • You should no longer be able to start a Crew Time Trial while entering the garage at the same time.

  • When choosing “Retry” after finishing an event, the race outro should no longer play with a black screen and audio only.

  • It should no longer be possible for two players who are playing online to start the same solo event at the same time. It resulted in a lot of traffic and it was unclear which AI racer belonged to which race.

  • You should no longer be able to get stuck in an endless countdown loop when starting a drift event.

  • During the “Winx” and “Crazy Cowboy” races, the AI drivers will now make a specific jump instead of taking a detour.

  • You should no longer be able to drive your car into and become stuck in a barrier during the “Ceryneian Hind” drift trial.

  • The “Marlin” circuit race will now award the correct amount of Bank. It was actually paying a little more than intended.

  • The “Winx” High Heat event now will correctly award a volatile part.

  • When you receive a volatile part from a high heat event and get busted before you enter a safehouse, you will now lose that part.

UI

  • Declining an event should no longer trigger the equipped active auxiliary item.

  • During races, the distance between AI racers and the player that’s shown on the leaderboard should update more frequently.

  • We clarified the daily challenge “Drive in oncoming traffic” by changing the objective text to “Stay in oncoming traffic”. This should underline that you have to stay in oncoming traffic continuously, until the challenge is completed.

  • When the Racer Challenges menu shows “Congratulations, you completed racer challenges!”, you are now no longer able to select new Racer Challenges, as it was intended.

  • The user ID of the player that last edited a crew information category is now displayed correctly in the menu.

  • The description for the “Dual Turbo Charger” will no longer overlap other UI elements.

  • The live tuning menu will now correctly display the time it takes the car to drive the ¼ mile in the correct measurement unit: seconds.

  • Opening the phone menu during events should no longer cause it to overlap the race standings, but make them disappear for as long as the phone menu is open.

  • The “route to event” option should now be available in the in-game phone app, even if you had set a route to that event before.

  • The message “Text contains profanity, please change to continue” should no longer randomly pop up while in the garage.

  • During night race intros, text that was previously cut off the screen when the display language was set to Arabic is now showing correctly. Race types should also no longer overlap race names during race intros.

  • During drift trial intros, text that was previously overlapping when the display language was set to Polish is now showing correctly.

  • There was a line of player subtitles missing, but we found it.

Cars / Garage

  • The player character’s feet should no longer be visible underneath the car when driving a Mercedes AMG A 45.

  • The front bumper of the Nissan GT-R 2017 should no longer disappear when adding a splitter while a Pandem or Rocket Bunny front fender and bumper are installed.

  • Stock brake discs should now be available for the Mustang starter car.

  • The 394hp 3.8l flat 6 engine now has the proper sound when swapped into specific Porsche models.

  • When the car is critically damaged, the hood of the Dodge Viper SRT should no longer block your view when using the bonnet camera.

  • Fixed an issue where switching between specific car parts of the Porsche 718 Cayman GTS resulted in the camera showing a different scene.

  • The paint menu UI will no longer overlap the menu when using certain screen aspect ratios.

  • The unlock criteria for the Nissan 370Z Nismo in the Dealership will now correctly state “Unlocked after collecting all Street Arts”.

  • The “Back” button should now work correctly in the “Community Wraps” section.

Visual

  • Added some decals that were available in the NFS Heat mobile app to the game.

  • One of the decals was missing the option to change its color, which has now been added.

  • Fixed some subtitles that were out of sync with the game audio.

  • Reduced pop-in of textures in several instances.

  • The helicopter that’s flying during the introduction race should no longer be shaking.

  • There was a tree in the Palm City Raceway district that had no collision and you could drive straight through it. We moved it to a different spot.

  • The dark boxes backing the subtitles now appear correctly for each line, some of them were a bit flashy before.

Performance

  • Improved several instances where you could encounter FPS drops during specific events and missions.

  • Improved performance when playing on PCs that barely meet the minimum requirements.

  • Fixed an issue that could cause a crash during the “Apollo 10” circuit race.

  • Several fixes for instances where the game was crashing.

  • Several fixes for instances where the game was hanging.

  • The game should no longer hang when removing the PS4 controller via the PlayStation menu while getting busted.

  • The game should no longer be stuttering during “Crew Level Up” notifications.

  • We improved the loading process of some time trials, so the intro sequence is now shown before the event starts.

Other

  • You should now encounter more cops when circling Palm City Raceway at night.

  • Several fixes for instances where item synchronisation would fail.

  • When sharing a wrap and then losing the internet connection, the game could become stuck on a loading screen, which shouldn’t happen anymore.

  • When reporting another player’s Custom Wrap or License Plate, you should no longer receive an “Unknown Error” message.

  • On rare occasions, the game could get stuck when promoting a crew member to the recruiter role. Fixed!

  • There was a rare chance that the game could get stuck after accepting a party invite while customizing a car with a large number of decals. This should no longer happen.

  • A car parked in a specific location would spawn under the map and fly several meters in the air before falling down to the ground again. We moved it to a safer area.

  • There’s an invisible spot on a bridge in Cape Castille you can crash into. We removed that. Although it was entertaining to park next to the bridge and see all the AI cars bump into it.

Once we get wind of new development for Need for Speed Heat, we’ll let our readers know.

Rumor: New Left 4 Dead Incoming but It’s Not What You Were Expecting

While zombie games are a dime a dozen these days, those old enough to remember Valve’s Left 4 Dead franchise most likely won’t say not to a new Left 4 Dead game being announced. Well, if this new rumor is any indication, we might just be getting that announcement soon, though it’s not the new L4D game people might be expecting.

This new tip comes from Tyler McVicker, the person who created the Valve News Network, who’s been able to leak Valve-related news in the past.

Yep, you read that right. This new L4D game will be tied to virtual reality (VR), and will most likely be called Left 4 Dead VR. Given how Valve has kinda resurrected the Half-Life brand with Half-Life: Alyx, which is a VR-focused game, I wouldn’t be surprised to see this new L4D game be tied to VR as well. Mind, I was hoping we’d just get a new, full-fledged entry in the series, but fans might (operative word here is might) be OK with this given how it’s been ages since we got a new L4D game.

For reference, the last L4D game, which was L4D 2, was released back in November 2009. However, zombie action game Dying Light had a Left 4 Dead crossover event happen this October, so at least we know Valve hasn’t completely forgotten about the franchise just yet.

Will we hear more about this new L4D game at tomorrow’s The Game Awards? Probably not, but the prospect of a new entry in the zombie game will surely have some players excited to blow some zombie brains out.

GTFO Console Release: Devs Would Love to Do One

With the earlier access finally launching as of today, many had wondered if a GTFO console release would ever happen, and while the developer’s primary focus is PC only at this time, there does seem to be a shed of hope for the future.

In an interview conducted by Dualshockers, Co-founder of 10 Chambers Collective, Svante Vinternatt stated that due to the size of the team, their focusing on getting the PC version “right”, but would love to eventually release on console.

Doing several platforms at the same time with this kind of team will be really tough” he told Dualshockers, “the more platforms the game would be available on the more people could probably play it. We would love to release on consoles.”

There you have it, PlayStation and Xbox users, while it certainly isn’t a definite yes, maybe at one point eventually we will see it playable on either platform. Chances are, by then we are talking about a next-gen release considering that is just one year away from starting.

GTFO is now available on early access for PC on Steam. In a press release issued by the company, they went on to explain the goal of the early access, clarifying that early phases of the alpha will be used to test out their Rundown feature.

“GTFO is a very ambitious Early Access release. We’ve been developing the game for almost four years now – we finally want to put it in our community’s hands and let them join us in the journey to version 1.0. The Early Access phase will test the Rundown concept; different types of expeditions and challenges, how long should they last, how often we’re going to put out new ones, and so on. It will be a very exciting time for hardcore gamers that will have the chance to experience content that may never exist again”, said Ulf Andersson, founder of 10 Chambers Collective and the game designer behind the PAYDAY franchise.

Are you interested with GTFO’s premise? We’ll be getting our mitts on it soon as well.

DICE Seeking Battlefield 5 Update 5.2 Feedback via Survey

With DICE releasing the big Battlefield 5 update 5.2 last week, not only did the studio roll out new content, but also a host of gameplay changes too. One of these changes is how the time to kill (TTK) and damage ranges work with different guns, and so far, the community reaction to it has been mixed. If you want your voice to be heard, DICE has a new survey out and it has specific questions for Battlefield 5 update 5.2 feedback.

Check out the Battelfield 5 update 5.2 feedback survey here!

The initial questions will be the same ones players have seen before, but about midway, it’l focus on update 5.2 questions, and near the end, it will ask about damage ranges and how much enjoyment players are having after update 5.2.

Regardless of your answer, don’t forget, DICE is sharing something about the time to kill changes later this week, whch I assume will be tomorrow.

Are you happy with the changes made to Battlefield 5 after update 5.2 or do you want the TTK and damage ranges to be reverted back to what it was pre-patch?

Modern Warfare Update December 11, 2019 Changelog Now Live

Infinity Ward has once again released a server-side (no download needed) Call of Duty: Modern Warfare update and it’s out now on all platforms. This Modern Warfare update December 11 changelog includes just fixes and doesn’t have any playlist additions or alterations of any kind.

Modern Warfare update December 11 changelog:

GENERAL FIXES:

  • Fix for the R9-0 Smoothebore not appearing correctly in-game
  • Fix for the “Smooth Dominator” not appearing correctly in-game
  • Fix for the “Heat Cycle” weapon not appearing correctly in-game
  • Fix for a bug where equipping the “Old Wounds” LMG could cause an error, kicking players out of the menu
  • Operator challenge descriptions have been updated to indicate that a specific Operator must be equipped in order to complete the challenge
  • If you reached a new rank while in the middle of a match and perform the criteria to complete a challenge you just unlocked, progress would not show in the UI until you entered a new match. We’ve done some backend work to help improve this.
  • Fix for Objective 2 of Mara’s Operator Mission showing a placeholder name ‘Desert Work’ for the reward
  • Fix for Wyatt’s Calling Card appearing with the incorrect rarity
  • Fix for the Cluster Strike’s missiles getting stuck on surfaces without detonating and playing looping audio the remainder of the match
  • Fix for exploits in Special Operations: Survival

Hopefully, we’ll get a new patch that has gameplay changes before the year’s out.

Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order Update 1.05 Now Up, Includes New Photo Mode and More

While Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order might be a purely single-player game, developer Respawn Entertainment has been pretty quick with the game patches for it. Sure, most of it are for bug fixes, but today’s Jedi Fallen Order update 1.05 introduces new features! Check out the full Jedi Fallen Order update 1.05 patch notes below.

Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order update 1.05 patch notes:

Photo Mode:

To start with we have the addition of a brand new Photo mode. Once you’ve enabled it in the settings, accessing the mode can be done via pressing both LS and RS or L3 and R3. From here the game will pause and you’ll have a number of options available, allowing you to create your perfect Jedi moment.

  • Camera Height

  • Camera Rotate

  • Zoom

  • Tilt

  • Focal Distance

  • F-Stop

  • Exposure

  • Vignette

  • Film Grain

  • Chromatic Aberration

  • Hide player

  • Hide AI

  • Filter

  • Filter Strength

  • Place Spotlight

  • Remove Spotlight

  • Spotlight Brightness

  • Spotlight Warmth

  • Hide UI

You’ll have the ability to fine tune settings and should you continue down a patch you no longer desire, you can simply hit R3 to reset the scene.

New Features

  • A Photo Mode has been added and can be accessed from within the game by pressing L3 and R3 at the same time.

  • Implemented a toggle that will allow you to remove a specific part of Cal’s lightsaber from within the customization menu.

Bug Fixes

  • We’ve made a pass of the game in an effort to reduce the number of crashes you should encounter. The end result of this is now a more stable game.

  • Fixed collision issues across several planets in the game

    • Collision within the caves and temple on Zeffo have been improved, reducing clipping issues and lowering the possibility of Cal becoming stuck.

    • Fixed an issue that would sometimes cause Cal to become stuck in a floating state below the train on Bracca.

    • We identified a few areas on Kashyyyk where Cal could fall out of the world, this will no longer happen.

    • We’ve fixed some collision on Dathomir, preventing Cal from falling through the ground.

    • Collision on Illum has also been improved, making sure that Cal doesn’t become stuck.

    • During a fight with the Second Sister, it was possible for her to get stuck in a door. She has been freed.

    • Bogano has had its collision improved, preventing Cal from becoming stuck on world geometry.

    • In some rare cases, Cal was floating while on Kashyyyk. He has since been grounded.

  • BD-1’s ability to slice panels was sometimes not working as intended, preventing you from progressing. This has been fixed and should no longer occur.

  • A mural scan on Bogano wasn’t working properly, this should now be fixed.

  • The train on Bracca could get stuck in a state where grates would fall off too early, preventing progress. We’ve fixed this so that Cal can continue climbing.

  • On rare occasions Bounty Hunters would stop hunting Cal, we’ve now re-enabled their trackers, so be careful.

  • For some players, BD-1 had gotten left behind on Bogano, preventing further progression. This should now be fixed.

  • The chest count on some planets was not working as intended, this has been fixed.

  • On rare occasions Greeze would refuse to open the ship doors and expose Cal to the sunlight on Dathomir. We’ve fixed this so that the story can continue.

  • Fixed an issue that prevented Holomap areas and gates from not working properly on Dathomir, Kashyyyk and Bogano.

  • An issue would sometimes occur that would cause the Holomap tutorial on Bogano to remain on-screen. This has been resolved and it should no longer occur.

  • An elevator on Zeffo could lead to Cal getting stuck in an infinite loop, our maintenance crews have fixed this particular elevator.

  • A dropship on Zeffo wasn’t showing up as intended, preventing the player from progressing further. We’ve ensured all landing zones are clear for arrival and this should no longer occur.

  • PC players were having issues selecting difficulty with the mouse, this should now be resolved.

  • We’ve fixed an issue where Cal could avoid enemies on Zeffo, to the extent that gameplay events wouldn’t trigger, halting progression to the story.

  • On rare occasions cinematics on Dathomir get stuck in an error state, preventing progress. This has been fixed.

  • Fixed an issue that would cause world loading issues on Kashyyyk for players with double jump. We’ve optimised the level to ensure loading completes properly.

If you haven’t picked up the game just yet, go check out our review and why we think it’s possibly the best Star Wars game in ages.

  • Fixed various texture and lighting scenarios.
  • Fixed various art collision issues that allowed players to access unintended areas.

  • Legendary Fortress of Dawn now spawns its chest and finishes appropriately.
  • Fixed an issue where Balm of Gavinicus was incorrectly dealing damage on impact.
  • Fixed an issue causing Rainmaker to fire more projectiles than intended.
    • Dev Note: This bug was causing a large imbalance in weapon selection among players due to it essentially being almost 200% stronger than intended. This fix puts it back in line with its expected damage output. The Rainmaker should still be a viable weapon and the fix shouldn’t disrupt any current play styles and hopefully makes other weapons more viable choices.

I don’t know about you, but this seems like a good precursor to the big overhaul rumored to come soon-ish.

PS4 Update 7.01 Is Out and It Brings More of What You Expect

Sony has released PS4 update 7.01, and given that it’s an unannounced firmware update, players should already know what’s in this. Clocking in at just 400MB, the main “patch notes” for PS4 update 7.01 is below. Note that at the time of writing, PS4 update 7.01 is optional as we were able to sign into PSN without requiring the update.

Release Notes

Main features in version 7.01 update

This system software update improves system performance.

Yep, this is just for stability and nothing more, which is to be expected. For those who want to download it via USB and install it, you can do so here.

In other PlayStation news, Sony rounded out the year with a few announcements in yesterday’s State of Play stream. Chief among the announcements is the Resident Evil 3 Remake release date, and how it’ll include a free multiplayer mode in Resident Evil Resistance.

Given how the PS5 is set for release next year, we’re most likely not going to get anything super big when it comes to new PS4 console features via firmware updates. I’d love to be proven wrong though.

Modern Warfare Roadmap “Coming,” Infinity Ward Explains High Latency Matches

While we’ve gotten quite a number of content drops already for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, one thing we still haven’t seen is a proper Modern Warfare roadmap. That might be changing soon, as Infinity Ward Senior Communications Manager Ashton Willams confirmed that one is “coming.”

This was revealed by Williamns in the Modern Warfare subreddit thread where she was addressing high latency matches.

While this is definitely good news, let’s hope we get an actual date or this is revealed before 2019 is over.

In an earlier response, Williams answered why some players are being matched with peoplew with super high latency, and it seems this is an issue with some of the players not playing on the most updated version of the game client.

Hey OP – thank you for the post. We investigated this and want to share what happened here.

We found a bug in our patch system where a small percentage of players were not able to properly obtain the latest patch, meaning this percentage of players were not getting matchmade with the larger playerbase who are on the latest patch. This lobby formed as a result of that bug and since there were so few players playing on the older patch, you all ended up playing together.

We’re actively rolling out a fix for this on the backend and have a fix for our patching system that will go live with our next title update so we can prevent this from happening in the future. Hope this provides some insight and apologies for the bug!

Let’s hope we get wind of a Modern Warfare roadmap real soon, and that includes changes that the community is requesting.

Speaking of which, don’t forget to read our story from today where it seems a new in-game watch —  that can only be obtained with real world money —  will display your deaths during a match.

What do you hope to see from this Modern Warfare roadmap? Just new content or are you more concerned with the upcoming changes than content?

Earlier today, Capcom announced the Resident Evil 3 Remake release date as part of Sony’s State of Play video presentation. Officially just called “Resident Evil 3” (yeah, totally not confusing), Resident Evil 3 Remake will be out this April 3, 2020!

In additiont to the release date, we now know the contents of the Resident Evil 3 Remake Collector’s Edition too! Currently, the image shown below is only available to North America, and will include: Jill Valentine statue, digital soundtrack, art book, reversible poster, which are all housed in a familiar looking item box.

As an added bonus, all those who pre-order the game will get the Classic Costume Pack, which features outfits for Jill and Carlos, and how they looked in the original RE3!

Lastly, in case you didn’t see it earlier, the multiplayer mode called Resident Evil Resistance will be free to all who purchase Resident Evil 3 Remake! Resident Evil Resistance is a 4v1 asymmetrical multiplayer game (like Dead by Daylight), and is set in the Resident Evil universe.

Resident Evil Resistance, a 4v1 asymmetrical, co-op multiplayer game set in the Resident Evil universe. Previously revealed as the working title Project Resistance, this unique game pits four kidnapped Survivors against a single Mastermind in a deadly experiment. As part of today’s reveal, we’ve also lifted the veil on two new Survivors: Becca, a local Park Ranger and skilled markswoman, and Martin, a mechanic who’s got a knack for machines and technology. They’ll be joining Samuel, January, Valerie, and Tyrone in their bid to escape from the clutches of Annette Birkin, one of multiple Masterminds with an array of traps and monsters at their disposal. You may have seen Daniel Fabron and his ability to control the Tyrant during the open beta for Project Resistance, but Annette has a different monster to unleash – William Birkin, mutated by the G-Virus.

With Resident Evil 3 Remake housing a multiplayer mode, expect the title to be covered more extensively here on MP1st in the coming months.

Modern Warfare Now Lets You See Deaths While In-Game but It Will Cost $20

For those playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare multiplayer, possibly one of the most baffling decisions Infinity Ward has made to the game is taking out the Modern Warfare scoreboard deaths counter while in a match. This means that in any mode, you can’t see how many times you’ve died in-game until the match is over. Well, it seems you can now amend this, if you’re willing to pay a price.

Over on the in-game store, the “Mother Russia” bundle is available for 2,000 COD Points (around $20 in real world currency), which includes the “Time to Die” character watch that keeps tabs of the Modern Warfare scoreboard deaths for your character! It seems that for now, this watch can’t be bought separately, so those interested to be able to see their in-game deaths while in a match, will need to pony up $20.

In case you didn’t know, one of the new customization features Infinity Ward introduced in this year’s Modern Warfare is the ability to customize your in-game character’s watch.

While one can argue that this won’t affect anything from a gameplay perspective, being able to see your deaths in the game while the match is on-going has been an oft-requested feature by the community, and is something every Call of Duty game has implemented until this year’s Modern Warfare.

Will Infinity Ward cave and make it available in the in-game scoreboard anytime soon? Given how this cosmetic’s main feature is just that (showing player deaths in-game), that might not be coming anytime soon.

Note that this is a server-side update, which means there’s no download required. Also, the only stuff that got changed are the playlists, and nothng more.

  • Infected (replaces Reinforce)

  • New Ground War map, Aniyah Palace

Hardcore Additions:

Overwatch Update 2.79 Now Live, Brings Winter Wonderland 2019

Those looking for some holiday cheer while playing Overwatch, Blizzard has just the thing! Overwatch update 2.79 is out, and it brings the Winter Wonderland 2019 event live! Check out the full Overwatch update 2.79 patch notes below.

Overwatch update 2.79 patch notes:

GENERAL UPDATES

New Feature: “While You Wait”

In this patch, we’re replacing our “Skirmish” mode with a brand-new feature called “While You Wait!” Now you can choose between a variety of game modes to play while you queue for a match

When in queue, players will now be prompted to pick from the following game modes:

  • Practice Range – Practice your skills—solo or in a group—against training bots
  • Skirmish – Spar with other players without keeping score
  • Deathmatch – Compete for the top place on the scoreboard
  • Custom Game – Select a custom game from the Custom Game Browser or create your own. (If you want your custom game to be available for everyone to play, make sure to choose the setting: “Allow players who are matchmaking.”)

All While You Wait game modes are optional and can be accessed by a single player or as a group. Only your group leader can select the mode for their team.

Note: You don’t have to leave your queue after a match ends to play another While You Wait mode. In order to access the While You Wait menu, click on the game mode you’re queued for and choose a While You Wait option from there.

WORKSHOP UPDATES

  • Custom Games – Practice Range Mode
  • New Workshop Values
    • Game Mode
    • Current Game Mode
  • New Workshop setting
    • “Allow players who are matchmaking”: allows players who are matchmaking to participate in the Custom Game created

HERO UPDATES

General

  • Armor damage reduction increased from 2 to 5

Orisa

  • Base armor increased from 200 to 250
  • Protective Barrier health reduced from 900 to 600
  • Fortify cooldown decreased from 10 seconds to 8 seconds

Sigma

Experimental Barrier

  • Health reduced from 1500 to 900
  • Barrier health regeneration rate reduced from 150 to 120 health per second

Kinetic Grasp

  • Cooldown reduced from 13 seconds to 10 seconds
  • Damage-to-shield gain ratio increased from 40% to 60%

Reinhardt

Barrier Field

  • Health reduced from 2000 to 1600
  • Movement speed penalty reduced from 50% to 30%

Developer Comment: The above changes to armor, Orisa, Sigma, and Reinhardt are aimed at decreasing the overall amount time players spend damaging barriers while improving the individual heroes in other areas. This is a significant change to the pace of the game and we’ll be monitoring these heroes closely to ensure they retain impactful gameplay in the tank role.

Moira

Biotic Grasp healing reduced from 4 to 3.25 (80 HP/s to 65 HP/s)

Developer Comment: Moira’s primary heal has proven to be too potent, largely due to its ability to heal multiple targets.

D.Va

Defense Matrix cooldown decreased from 2 seconds to 1.5 seconds

Developer Comment: With role locks in place there is some room to improve D.Va’s impact as a tank, so we’re partially reverting a previous change which increased Defense Matrix’s cooldown.

Widowmaker

Grappling Hook cooldown increased from 10 to 12 seconds

Developer Comment: With barriers having less uptime, Widowmaker will be even more effective at locking down long sight lines. This change weakens her mobility so she can still be reasonably countered.

Torbjörn

Overload cooldown decreased from 12 to 10 seconds

Developer Comment: Torbjörn has difficulty in extended team fights once his turret is eliminated and Overload has been used. This change allows Torbjörn to be able to rely on his Overload more often.

Genji

Ammo increased from 24 to 30

Developer Comment: As average hero survivability has gone up over time, Genji can sometimes have difficulty finishing off his targets. Loosening his ammunition constraints will help give him a small boost.

Zarya

Particle Cannon (Secondary Fire)

  • Explosion radius increased from 2 to 2.5 meters
  • Ammo cost decreased from 25 to 20

Developer Comment: Zarya’s overall damage output is in a good spot but the secondary fire was left feeling a little too weak after the last set of changes.

BUG FIXES

General

  • Fixed a bug that caused players spectating teammates during killcam to be unable to rotate the camera
  • Fixed a bug that caused the “Prepare Your Defenses” text to appear for the attacking team when a game starts in Mystery Heroes
  • Fixed a bug that could cause a client crash when attempting to spectate a friend at the start of a quickplay game
  • Fixed an issue where Max Health granted by heal-over-time abilities was being calculated incorrectly with Gravitic Flux
  • Color Blind Mode – Fixed an issue which caused models affected by infra-sight to appear washed out when using colors other than red
  • Workshop – Fixed an issue causing map names and dropdowns from being displayed in the incorrect case
  • Workshop – Fixed an issue preventing D.Va from being detected in Player Died events
  • Workshop – Toggling the custom game lobby hot key while viewing lobby settings should now properly close the screen
  • Custom Games – Renamed Assault/Escort to Hybrid
  • Fixed a bug that could cause heroes with regenerating health/shields to not take full damage when damaged while at full health
  • Various hero abilities (e.g. Symmetra’s Turrest, Roadhog’s Hook, Sigma’s Accretion, Orisa’s Halt, etc) will now respect the collision boxes on vending machines and other such props
  • Fixed a bug that caused High Precision Mouse Input to cause toggle crouch to behave inconsistently

Maps

  • Black Forest (1v1) – Fixed a bug that allowed Reaper to Shadow Step through the breakable doors

Heroes

Doomfist

  • The default circle is now hidden when using advanced reticle settings
  • Fixed a bug that sometimes prevented the sound effect of Doomfist’s Rising Uppercut from playing
  • Fixed a bug where Seismic Slam could land on an enemy’s head while playing FFA modes

Junkrat

  • Fixed a bug where Junkrat grenades would not explode when slowly rolling down steep inclines

Lucio

  • Fixed a bug that caused the audio visualization effect on Lucio’s glasses to disappear

Orisa

  • Fixed an issue where Orisa’s halt projectile could sometimes appear to go through the ground when viewed in 3rd person

Reaper

  • Fixed a bug allowing a player to swap heroes while using Shadowstep

Roadhog

  • Fixed a bug that prevented Roadhog’s hook from damaging turrets and barriers

Sigma

  • Fixed a bug that caused Sigma’s primary fire not to function if he was hacked while deploying experimental barrier

Widowmaker

  • Turning off the toggle zoom control option for Widowmaker while zoomed in no longer remains stuck in the zoomed state

In other Overwatch news, make sure to check out the Overwatch 2 gameplay we’ve posted to see the changes Blizzard is putting into the sequel.
