Just Cause Movie Brings John Wick Scribe as Writer

The Just Cause film has been snagged by Constantin Film. The studio known for films like The Sixth Sense, The Name of the Rose, The Never Ending Story, and the Resident Evil cinematic franchise will be taking the Just Cause film rights. However, it also seems like the film will have a great writer as the John Wick creator/writer Derek Kolstad will provide his writing skills for the Just Cause film.

As reported by Deadline, the deal was made with game owner Avalanche Studios and Square Enix. The folks at Constantin Film are teaming up with Prime Universe Films to launch what will hopefully be a fantastic action franchise. As a matter of fact, Constantin is looking for a director and preparing for a 2020 shooting of the film.

The Just Cause film will also adhere to the game’s plot and setting. It follows Rico Rodriguez who is in a mission to stop The Black Hand, which is a mercenary group that has appeared in Just Cause, Just Cause 3, and Just Cause 4. As such, players can expect some cool moments filled with action and explosions.

Perhaps this is Constantin’s best bet in terms of film. While successful, the Resident Evil movie franchise has become infamous for going through an action-heavy route instead of respecting the game’s horror roots. Meanwhile, the Just Cause film definitely fills the part of an amazing a highly successful action film franchise that fans of the games can get behind.

What could be in the future for the Just Cause film? Is this going to adhere to the game’s fantastic action-packed roots? Will Constantin Film be able to capture the charisma that made Rico Rodriguez one of gaming’s most popular icons? Only time will tell. However, it definitely is interesting to see that there is interest for this possible film franchise.

Battlefield 5 Update 1.16 Patch Notes Now Live, File Sizes and What’s in It Listed

As was mentioned yesterday, the latest Battlefield 5 update is now live! There’s a ton of new gameplay fixes, new content (though they might not be accessible today), and lots, lots more. You can check out the Battlefield 5 update 1.16 patch notes below.

As the patch notes below plainly show, this is one big update! Clocking in at 10.64GB on PC, the PS4 patch is just at 6.038GB.

Battlefield 5 Update 1.16 Patch Notes:

Vehicles

  • Added the reloading icon which was missing when using the Churchill MK VII 95MM Howitzer specialization.
  • Fixed an issue which would cause players to fall slightly below the ground when going into the bleed out state after getting killed while in a plane.
  • Improved the turning rates for planes. Bombers should no longer be able to out-turn fighter planes.
  • Fixed a bug that would cause airplanes to not resupply under certain conditions.
  • Changed irreparable damage multiplier on rocket vs fighter from 1.8 to 0.18. This fixes the issue of rockets dealing a too high percentage of their damage as irreparable damage when damaging fighters. This change now brings rockets in line with other forms of damage, and players will be able to self-repair their fighter planes after getting hit by a rocket.
  • Fixed an issue that would randomly cause camera shakes and bumps when in a tank in first person view.
  • While in a vehicle the splash damage indicators that appear when damage is taken from anti- tank weapons now show the correct direction.
  • Passengers that exit your tank no longer block your shots while playing the entry/exit animation state.
  • New visual dust effects have been added when tanks fire their main cannons.
  • Fixed a bug that would enable the JU-88 A to automatically get resupplied without passing the resupply station.
  • Improved the animation when a player jumps out of the JU-88 A. The camera will now have smoother movement and less stutter when the exit animation plays.

Weapons, Gadgets, and Specializations

  • Fixed an issue that was causing sight misalignment when using the Mint or Gold plated skins on the EMP.
  • Fixed a bug that would cause the weapon model to not show in third person if the player switching between weapons and gadgets in a rapid succession.
  • Fixed an issue with the MAS 44 which would make the magazine invisible in third person view if a certain combination of skins was used.

Gadgets Tweaks

In this update, we are bringing new changes to the Health and Ammo crates with the goal to make these gadgets more interesting choices in defensive scenarios.

  • Crates now inherit from the soldier’s speed to increase the throw distance.
  • Crates throw speed is now affected by the pitch angle to enable higher throwing arcs.
  • Crates now attach to the terrain when landing to ensure that they always land upright.

Medic crates:

  • When selected, heals nearby friendlies in a 2m radius from the crate. This effect is interrupted for 2 seconds while taking damage and for 1.5 seconds while being suppressed.
  • When deployed, heals nearby friendlies in a 2m radius from the crate. This effect is
  • interrupted for 2 seconds while taking damage and for 1.5 seconds while being suppressed.
  • When equipped in a gadget slot, friendly players can interact with friendly Medics to get health.

Ammo crates:

  • When equipped in a gadget slot, friendly players can interact with friendly Supports to take ammo.
  • Please consider these changes as a first iteration as we monitor and get your feedback. We will be looking at doing further changes as needed in the near future.

Weapon Tweaks

P08 Carbine:

  • Improved firing animation with iron sights to be less distracting.
  • Reduced recoil and sped up recoil decrease.
  • Can no longer be used while swimming.

Commando Carbine:

  • We found the Commando Carbine was a bit lacking at medium range already, due to low damage and slow projectiles making landing shots hard.
  • Increased two hit kill range to 50 m (was 30 m).
  • Increased distance at which one head and one body shot are lethal to 75 m (was 50 m).
  • Increased muzzle velocity to 350 m/s (was 300 m/s) and 400 m/s (was 330 m/s) when using High Velocity Bullets.
  • Decreased suppression per bullet, which was overly high.

M28 con Tromboncino:

  • Decreased suppression per bullet, which was overly high.
  • Fixed grenade launcher dealing incorrect amounts of damage.

LS/26:

  • Added resumable empty reload.
  • Slightly reduced the efficacy of the Ported Barrel specialization.
  • Tweaked the recoil pattern to make the weapon easier to use.

Assault Rifles and SMGs:

  • Improved accuracy in aimed sustained fire from the second shot.

Sidearms:

  • Improved accuracy in unaimed sustained fire from the second shot for all sidearms except the Mk VI Revolver. This means follow-up shots in hip fire will be much more accurate than before.

Mk VI Revolver:

  • Increased deploy time to 0.7 s (was 0.65 s) and 0.65 s (was 0.6 s) when using Slings and Swivels. This means switching to the revolver takes longer, leaving it at a bigger disadvantage to the pistols when you need to switch to your sidearm fast.

Soldier

Lighting

  • Improvements to the lighting on soldiers, this is a shader that makes third person soldiers a bit more visible when in dark areas. This change is only applied to Multiplayer and Firestorm. If you would like to learn about this in more detail, please read this article.

Manual Leaning

Leaning is a feature that already exists in Battlefield V using the auto-leaning system. With this update, we are introducing manual leaning which allows players to have more control over leaning and use this feature in more cases than what the auto-leaning systems allows.

• Manual leaning is only available when aiming down sight.

• Moving while leaning is 50% slower.

• It is not possible to use a bipod while manual leaning.

• Players can decide if leaning should be a toggle or a hold (OPTIONS / CONTROLS).

KEY BINDINGS

There are two ways to use manual leaning:

  • ACTIVATE STRAFE TO LEAN WHILE ZOOMING:
    • Zooming and using the “Activate Strafe to Lean While Zooming” key (PC Default “F”, Console Default “R3”). When this key is pressed, strafing becomes leaning.

LEAN RIGHT / LEAN LEFT WHILE ZOOMING:

  • You can manually assign a key binding to both “Lean Left While Zooming” and “Lean Right While
  • Zooming” (Not assigned by default). This is possible on console using a custom soldier mapping.

Note that it is also recommended to unassign “Activate Strafe to Lean While Zooming” when using manual leaning. Using L3 and R3 isrecommended on console.

Other Soldier Changes:

  • Fixed a bug that would cause the player to be stuck in a death state.
  • Players can now also trigger landing rolls using the jump button when hitting the ground.
  • Landing roll is now timing based, players have to hold the button within 333ms before hitting the ground to trigger it. It was a little bit too easy when you just had to hold down the button.
  • Fixed an issue where players would get killed if they had switched seats in a vehicle, left the vehicle and then the vehicle ultimately getting destroyed.
  • Fixed a rare issue that was causing soldiers to be misaligned against ladders when climbing them.
  • Fixed an issue where in some cases a soldier standing still while looking around would not always be properly updated from the other players point of view.
  • Fixed a bug that in rare cases would enable a player to fire their weapon and use gadgets while in a bleed out state.
  • Improved soldier ragdoll behavior when they die in water at the same moment as they are vaulting over an object.
  • The interaction functionality now only affects the object that is usable and closest to the player, instead of triggering multiple objects close to the player at the same time.
  • Improved soldier stability on slopes, player will now slide less often when terrain becomes a bit steeper.

Maps & Modes

  • Removed a placeholder box from the Practice Range.

  • Combined Arms – The Squad leader will no longer get stuck in the menu when attempting to
  • repeat a mission if the squad members have left the game.

  • Aerodrome – Players will no longer be able to climb up on top of the hangar near Flag E when playing Conquest.
  • Arras – Added bullet penetration to the leaves and branches of the big tree close to flag A on Conquest.

  • Devastation – Players can no longer get stuck between the railing and the window canopy near objective A on Conquest.
  • Devastation – Players should no longer be able to catch fire through certain walls if there is a fire on the other side of them.

  • Panzerstorm – The fuel tank near capture point D on Grand Operations – Airborne no longer clips with the ammo resupply station.
  • Rotterdam – The ammo supply station no longer clips with the boxes which made the station difficult to use.
  • Rotterdam – Fixed a few sandbags that would remain floating in mid-air if the object below it was destroyed.

  • War Stories – Players that have an eye for details might want to play the War Stories one more time.

  • Fixed a bug with the scoring so that Enemy Hit is back to a maximum of 100 points.
  • Fixed missing descriptions on some items in the Armory.

  • The Kar98k now has an image and name when the default muzzle is selected in the customize weapons screen.
  • The “Play Firestorm” daily order now tracks progression properly.
  • Fixed an issue that would cause players to not see Combat Traits under the “Your Company” if the player had just played the Practice Range.
  • When players are directly looking at a visible enemy within 8m, the enemy name tag will be visible for that player only, similar to previous Battlefield titles.
  • The camera no longer goes under the ground for a second if the match ends while the player is on the deploy screen.
  • War Stories – The Last Tiger – Fixed a bug where in some cases the War Letters were not properly counted which would make it not possible to unlock the Tank skin reward.

  • Finer mouse sensitivity (basic control options screen) adjustment – use the keyboard arrow buttons to adjust the mouse sensitivity for soldiers and vehicles by decimals.
  • Fixed the bug where clicking with the mouse on the numeric part of a slider widget would cause the profile option to be reset to 0.
  • Firestorm – Added 3 scoring events to Firestorm, for when a squad mate downs, kills or squad wipes enemies.
  • Tweaked scoring events for Final Position and Wins in Firestorm: from 50, 100, 150 and 500/750/1000 (squad/duo/squad) to 200, 500, 1000 and 1250/1250/1250.
  • Tweaked “Last 32/16/8” scoring event for Firestorm: from 50, 100, 150 to 200/500/1000.
  • A pizza baker was experimenting with new flavors, when he suddenly had an awful idea. He decided to use pineapple as topping. Having served it to his friend, the reaction was simply “Ha! Why?” – thus, the pizza was named Hawaii.

Stability

  • Various crash fixes and improvements to stability.
  • Fixed a specific crash that was causing instability when using Spectator mode.

PC-Specific Improvements

  • Added compatibility between direct melee lean buttons and the melee/bayonet ones when using a gamepad on PC.
  • Firestorm – Improved visibility through aperture sights when running the game on low settings.
  • Made the left and right scroll arrows fit with the progression tiles on the Profile screen.
  • The Squad Reinforcements screen button indicators in the Squad widget now changes if the player uses custom button mappings.
  • Players can now equip items in the customization menu with the keyboard.
  • The future frame rendering is no longer automatically set to off if players choose another graphical preset besides automatic quality options which will turn this setting off.
  • Soldier and vehicle mouse sensitivity sliders (in the basic control options screen) can now be tuned at a finer step by using the left/right keys.

Whew! That’s a lot to take in, no? Remember, some of the new stuff will slowly be rolled out within the week or so (new Tides of War weapon for example). So sit tight and be patient.

In other Battlefield 5 news, we reported yesterday that DICE has pulled the Pit Crew skin from being obtainable via in-game currency, and can only be had now via microtransactions.

Title Update 3.1

Currently, we have no specific date for the next update. But they highlighted some fixes that are planned to be released with TU 3.1.

Planed fixes

  • The rushing behavior of the NPCs is not an old bug, but a combination of new ones that were not caught on PTS. Some aspects of that issue will be addressed with 3.1, others will be addressed down the road.
  • The scaling of the different Masks will also be fixed in 3.1.
  • Looting as junk will return in 3.1.
  • Rate of fire for semi-automatic weapons will also be addressed in 3.1.

Title Update 4

There is more content coming with Title Update 4. Currently, we have no specific date for that update.

  • Specialization 4 will be added to the game with TU4

Dead Island 2 Is Still Happening According to THQ Nordic

Remember Dead Island 2? Originally announced way back in 2014, it’s been out of the headlines ever since, and looked like it was silently cancelled. Well, now we know it isn’t! Despite being absent for a number of years Dead Island 2 isn’t dead.

During  THQ Nordic’s quarterly financial earnings report video presentation, the publisher has confirmed that Dead Island 2 is still very much alive and still “being worked on” although no other information was given other than to “stay tuned.”

With E3 around the corner it’s very much possible we will get a new re-announcement trailer of some sort, although we don’t expect to see Dead Island 2 released anytime soon. During the Q&A segment of the report, much of the financial report went on to go into details as to what we could expect for Q3 and Q4 of this year. Judging by the expression and words that Lars Wingafor, CEO and co-founder of THQ Nordic, expressed about the second half of released this year, it doesn’t sound like we will be seeing a release for Dead Island 2 anytime soon or at least this year.

Dead Island 2 originally had Yager (Spec Ops: The Line) tasked to develop the sequel to the zombie action game, with Sumo Digital (Team Sonic Racing) confirmed to be taking over development duties in 2016. Since then, we’ve heard nothing about Dead Island 2 — well, at least until today.

Battlefield 5 Pit Crew Skin Now Only Obtainable via Microtransactions After Initially Being Available With In-Game Currency

Here’s something that might not sit well with Battlefield 5 players. It seems DICE has pulled the Battlefield 5 Pit Crew skin set from the game, after initially being available at launch, only to introduce it this week, and only purchasable with “Boins” (Battlefield Coins) which can only be obtained by spending real-world money.

In case you didn’t know, Battlefield 5 has Company Coin as the in-game currency that players can obtain just by playing the game, completing Assignments and whatnot. While Battlefield Coins can only be obtained by spending real-world money.

Over on the Battlefield 5 subreddit, multiple threads have been created by angry gamers calling out DICE for this move.

So DICE intentionally deleted the “Pit Crew” set from the game so it could be resold for BOINS?
byu/AssaultPlazma inBattlefieldV

FYI I bought the set initially when it was still available for CC. Deliberately removing content that can be bought for ingame currency only to re-sell it back under premium currency is just plain wrong. The lack of transparency makes this even worse.

If initially selling it for just CC turned out to be a mistake due to poor quality control then the DEVs simply need to own their mistake and leave it as is. I can tolerate alot of dumb stuff and even tolerate/defend microtransactions, but this is incredibly egregious.

The ”Pit Crew” is now ONLY available with Battlefield Coins… This is one of the many mistakes you (DICE) do with this game! How many times are you going to make the game worse? How many? I bought the Torso variant because I couldn’t afford the helmet, and now what?
by inBattlefieldV

According to DICE Community Manager Jeff Braddock, he has escalated this concern, and is trying to figure out what’s going on with it.

Could this be an honest mistake or did EA/DICE try to pull this off to see if players will notice? My assumption is, DICE or EA will make it available using Company Coin again just to appease gamers. We’ll update the story if there’s an update from DICE/EA.

In other, more gamer-friendly Battlefield 5 news, DICE has released the patch notes for tomorrow’s big title update! Read up on that, here.

Battlefield 5 Next Update Patch Notes Listed, Visibility Changes, Weapon Tweaks & More

Update: The big Battlefield 5 1.16 patch is now live! Patch notes, and download sizes right here.

As expected from DICE’s previous announcement, the Battlefield 5 next update patch notes are finally here! While the actual patch is set to roll out tomorrow, DICE has listed the complete patch notes! There are Firestorm improvements, visibility changes (which we’ve mentioned before), and lots of gameplay tweaks!

Battlefield 5 Next Update Patch Notes:

  • Combined Arms – The outro cinematic is no longer affected by bullets and explosions which would cause screen shake.

  • Aerodrome – Players will no longer be able to climb up on top of the hangar near Flag E when playing Conquest.
  • Arras – Added bullet penetration to the leaves and branches of the big tree close to flag A on Conquest.
  • Arras – Removed a magical ladder inside a house that would teleport players. That had to go.
  • Devastation – Players can no longer get stuck between the railing and the window canopy near objective A on Conquest.
  • Devastation – Players should no longer be able to catch fire through certain walls if there is a fire on the other side of them.
  • Narvik – Fix for a floating PAK 40 when playing the Breakthrough mode.
  • Hamada – Added bullet penetration to a certain bush that was previously bulletproof.
  • Hamada – Added more Tank supply stations on the outer points on Conquest.

  • Hamada – Players can no longer get stuck in the gap on the ruined wall near F flag.

  • Panzerstorm – The fuel tank near capture point D on Grand Operations – Airborne no longer clips with the ammo resupply station.

  • War Stories – Players that have an eye for details might want to play the War Stories one more time.

  • Fixed a bug with the scoring so that Enemy Hit is back to a maximum of 100 points.

  • Rush Dog Tags are now properly unlocked once earned.
  • The bronze Dog Tag for the P08 Carbine Pistol is now properly unlocked if earned.
  • Fixed a rare bug where the deploy timer would get stuck, making it not possible to spawn.

Fortnite Update 2.22 Patch Notes (v9.10) Now Live, File Size and Details Listed

A new fortnite patch is here, ladies and gentlemen! The Fortnite update 2.22 patch notes are here and they include multiple fixes that will benefit the game’s competitive scene and please casual fans! The patch will be 3.4GB on the PlayStation 4 and 1.9 GB on the PC version (v9.10).

The Fortnite update 2.22 patch notes are here

BATTLE ROYALE

First of all, LTM Rotations have changed to Sniper Shootout Duos, Unvaulted Squads, and Close Encounters Squads. Sniper Shootout Duos are basically modes where only Sniper Rifles are allowed. To add to the challenge, downed players will be eliminated instantly. Unvaulted Squads brings Battle Royale gameplay with limited weapons. Finally, Close Encounters Squads brings incredible action with Shotguns and Jetpacks!

Multiple weapons and items have received some tweaks and nerfs. Here’s the list of the changes:

  • Shadow Bombs
    • Reduced availability from floor loot from .835% to .677%
    • Reduced availability from chests from 4.65% to 3.98%
    • Reduced drop count from 3 to 2.
  • Unvaulted Semi-Auto Sniper Rifle
    • Available in Vending Machines, Chests, and Floor Loot
    • Available in Uncommon and Rare variants
  • Combat Shotgun
    • Reduced the availability from floor loot from 2.015% to 1.409%
    • Reduced the availability from chest loot from 2.183% to 1.846%

This update also brings several bug fixes that aim to improve the overall player experience. Here’s a list with all of the bug fixes that are now available with the Fortnite update 2.22 Patch notes:

  • Dropping part of a consumable item stack no longer interrupts using the consumable.
  • Shadow Bombs correctly leave the players inventory when no charges are left.
  • Shadow Bombs are consumed properly when quickly picking up a replacement item during activation.
  • Combat Shotgun now applies appropriate environmental damage falloff.
  • Ability to move is no longer lost if Rift-to-go was used with Balloons.
  • The Bush now correctly attaches to players in specific animations, such as skydiving.
  • Resolved inconsistent behavior while using Flint-Knock pistol during crouch.
  • Air vent audio is now correctly removed upon on destruction.
  • Boogie Bombs now properly prevent affected players from skydiving.
  • Camera issues when exiting a Mounted Turret have been resolved.
  • Remote Explosives will now open and close with doors they are stuck to.

In the gameplay department, Fortnite update 2.22 Patch Notes talk about the introduction of Hot Spots. Basically, select map locations will be marked in gold text by the map. These spots have Loot Carriers which bring additional High-Quality weapons. However, the chances of finding multiple hot spots are lower.

There have been some tweaks done to the gameplay aspect as well. For instance, equipping the blueprint to start building has improved in high latency situations. Not only that, but a crosshair has been added for players that are skydiving to make the process of map marking more precise and easier.

One of the highest points of contention about the latest patch was the introduction for audio cues. The developers hinted at multiple bug fixes in terms of audio on Monday through Reddit. Now that the Fortnite update 2.22 patch notes have been revealed. We can now see what improvements and bug fixes have been performed!

Here are the bug fixes:

  • Walking up on the edge of a building piece plays correct material specific footstep audio.
  • Enemy pickaxe sound now plays correctly from impact point and not from player using the pickaxe.
  • The Boom Bow’s fire sound has been fixed to not cut off when switching weapons immediately after shooting.
  • Firing weapons no longer lowers building sounds.

And now, here are the multiple improvements brought to the audio in the Fortnite v9.10 Patch notes. These improvements will definitely help some competitive players to have a better access to their enemy behavior:

  • Improved enemy jump sounds.
  • Reduced the time that it takes the enemy in-air audio loop to kick on, for better awareness of an enemy dropping in on you from above.
  • Boosted the volume of nearby footsteps and landing sounds of enemies not in line of sight.
  • Tighter spatialization of close-range pickaxe sounds from other players.
  • Added clearer sound when an enemy confirms an edit on a building piece within ~2 tiles of your position.

Furthermore, Treyarch has mentioned that Ground War will be making its debut in Black Ops 4! There’s also going to be changes made to the shotgun’s inclusion in Ambush.

Speaking of which, we’ve heard your feedback on the inclusion of shotguns in our latest version of Ambush, and we’ll be making some changes behind the scenes for its next release. While we heard from plenty of players who enjoyed getting the jump on their enemies with their favorite 12-gauge, we can definitely appreciate the beauty of snipers-and-knives gameplay. Watch out for the return of Ambush later this summer after Ground War makes its debut during the second half of Operation Spectre Rising.

Not a bad update today, no? Once we get more news regarding updates and maybe the Strobe Light counter, we’ll let our readers know.

What else could you expect from a title that has gained such great popularity like this?

Call of Duty Mobile Battle Royale Mode Details Revealed

The first Call of Duty Mobile beta tests have finally begun! However, Activision has another surprise for people who have registered for the beta. The first details about the Call of Duty Mobile Battle Royale mode have been shared to the public. The details include a very extensive overview, so let’s talk about it.

The Call of Duty Mobile Battle Royale mode is actually custom-built for mobile games. Those familiar with Black Ops 4’s Blackout mode might actually feel at home with this new Battle Royale mode. However, the Call of duty Mobile Battle Royale mode is actually going to have its own features that make it stand out from BO4’s mode.

Up to 100 players will be scattered in a large map in the Call of Duty Mobile Battle Royale mode. There are also single, two-person, and four-person playlists for players who want to play with their friends. Additionally, players can actually select between six initial classes with their own abilities and skills.

The Call of Duty Mobile Battle Royale Mode is expansive

The six classes offer multiple functionalities and abilities of their own. Each of these classes come as follows:

  • Defender: With the ability to place a deformable Transform Shield, this class also is Reinforced, raising resistance to all damage except bullets.
  • Mechanic: Able to call an EMP Drone to create electro-magnetic interference on hostile forces, this class also features the Engineer ability, granting augmented sight to vehicles, hostile traps, and other equipment.
  • Scout: Utilizing the Sensor Dart that can view hostile positions in the immediate area of the radar map, this class also benefits from the Tracker ability; allowing you to see fresh footprints of hostiles.
  • Clown: A master of distraction and friend of the undead, this class has a Toy Bomb to detonate, summoning zombies that only attack hostiles near to them; due in part to the Clown having the Anti-Zombie ability, which reduces the zombies’ aggression distance.
  • Medic: This class can place a Medical Station that continuously heals the Medic and associated allies in the immediate vicinity. In addition, the Master Healer ability allows a Medic to heal more quickly, and reduces the time it takes to revive teammates.
  • Ninja: Lastly, this clandestine class has a Grapple Gun that fires a hook, allowing you to propel yourself up and onto target buildings or across the landscape at speed. Movement is quiet too, due to this class having the Dead Silence ability.

Of course, another highlight of Call of Duty Mobile Battle Royale is the sprawling maps that have multiple set pieces. There are multiple locations across the map that include set pieces from popular COD maps such as Countdown, Crash, Nuketown, Standoff, Seaside, and Killhouse, among other maps from the COD series.

Of course, the Call of Duty Battle Royale mode isn’t everything that is available in the app. There are so many other features and modes that players can get to experience. However, it definitely seems like Call of Duty mobile will try to push the boundaries of mobile gaming itself.

Rumor: From Software New Game Being Made in Collaboration With George R.R. Martin, Will Be an Open World Title

Given how From Software has released one hit game after another with not only the Dark Souls franchise, but with titles like Bloodborne, and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, it’s understandable that whatever the From Software new game is, people will most likely be excited for it.

What if we told you that this From Software new game is being worked on by the developer with none other than A Song of Ice & Fire (a.k.a Game of Thrones) author George R.R. Martin? On Martin’s blog, the writer mentioned that he has “consulted on a video game out of Japan,” which is where From Software is based.

And me?  I’m still here, and I’m still busy.    As a producer, I’ve got five shows in development at HBO (some having nothing whatsoever to do with the world of Westeros), two at Hulu, one on the History Channel.   I’m involved with a number of feature projects, some based upon my own stories and books, some on material created by others.   There are these short films I am hoping to make, adaptations of classic stories by one of the most brilliant, quirky, and original writers our genre has ever produced.   I’ve consulted on a video game out of Japan.   And then there’s Meow Wolf…

If that’s not enough to excite you, reputable site Gematsu mentions that a person “familiar with the ongoings” at From Software told the site that the game is internally known as “GR,” and has been in development for three years, is an open world game (with horse riding), and is a collaboration between Hidetaka Miyazaki and George R.R. Martin, and will be published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. It’s reportedly set to be announced at Microsoft’s E3 2019 press conference, so if all these are true, we don’t have to wait long now.

Could this be a From Software game centered around Game of Thrones or another new world entirely? Given that both From Software and Martin are involved, it’s definitely a project worth being excited over.

Report: PS5 vs PS4 Loading Time Comparison Video Shows How Fast Next-Gen Will Be

For some reason or another, Sony has deemed it time to talk about the PlayStation 5. No, it wasn’t done via an elaborate event (that’s happening at some point for sure), but via an interview with the PS4 — and now PS5 — Lead Architect, Mark Cerny in an interview.

While we still don’t know when the PS5 will be out, or how much it’ll cost come launch other than it’ll be “appealing” to gamers, we at least know now how fast it will load games in this new PS5 vs PS4 loading time comparison video! In a tweet by The Wall Street Journal tech reporter Takashi Mochizuki, it shows what he says is the Sony official video comparing the performance of the PS5 to the PS4.

As you can see, the loading times on the PS5 are insanely fast! Granted, this is a tech demo, and there are other stuff to factor in like the actual game size, etc., but for the most part, if the PS5 can achieve this kind of loading speed for next-gen? That’s definitely going to be something.

Do you think we’ll see this kind of loading speed on the PS5? Or is this wishful thinking even with the console using SSD?

Apex Legends Update 1.09 Patch Notes Now Live, Here’s What News and Improved

As expected, a new Apex Legends update is out now, and it brings a lot of improvements to the table. Just at 678MB on PS4, check out the Apex Legends update 1,09 patch notes below.

Apex Legends Update 1.09 Patch Notes;

AUDIO FIXES AND IMPROVEMENTS

One of our biggest issues to tackle was improving the audio performance to address issues reported of sounds dropping out, sounds missing for extended time, or distortion for a period of time. We have made improvements both in our code and with our content that will hopefully fix these issues for many players, and for others, at least lower the amount and length of time they encounter audio issues.

We have also addressed some of the other mix issues with the game, including increasing the volume of close proximity enemy footsteps and lowering the overall volume of the game from the character select screen to the end of the drop sequence. We will continue to monitor mix issues and address them as necessary. Below are the notes of improvements we’ve included in today’s patch and we’re continuing to work on future improvements.

PERFORMANCE

  • Improved audio engine to be around 30% more CPU efficient, lessening the chance of distortion or dropouts.
  • Lowered impact on data loading through code and content changes to improve potential dropout issues.

QUALITY OF LIFE

  • Lowered the master volume of all sounds during the character select screen through the end of the drop sequence.
  • Lowered the volume of Wraith’s ambient kunai knife sound for those who are sensitive to the sound. If it is still bothersome we will remove it in a later patch.
  • Increased the volume of close proximity enemy footsteps for all Legends.
  • Increased the priority of enemy footsteps to ensure the sounds play even in heavy combat situations.
  • Slightly lowered the volume of Pathfinder footstep sounds heard from the first person view.
  • Fixed missing or quiet dryfire (out of ammo trigger click sound) and low ammo (the progressive change in sound that the gun makes as the magazine approaches empty) sounds for the R301, Hemlok, Flatline and RE45.
  • Increased the volume of the music that plays when winning a match.
  • Added more detailed audio to the Training mission.

BUG FIXES

  • Fixed occlusion bug for the “wind down” sound for the Havoc.
  • Fixed issue with automatic weapon fire sounds occasionally getting stuck on, usually after a Legend respawns.
  • Fixed bug with RE45 missing tail sounds (the echo in the environment after the shot) when in close proximity.

HIT DETECTION FIXES AND IMPROVEMENTS

As we talked about last week, in this patch we’ve pushed some fixes that should eliminate many cases of incorrect hit registration. This patch also includes some behind-the-scenes tracking of bullet damage logic. We expect there will still be some remaining hit registration problems, but with these fixes and diagnostic information, we are better equipped to track them down.

One potential cause of hit registration bugs can be simple internet connection problems. In order to determine how much of a factor this is in reality, we have put some time into refining the functionality behind our network problem indicator icons in the upper right of the screen. These icons are now pickier about your connection quality and may show up more frequently than they did before. These icon changes will be useful for us in narrowing down the cause of any bugs that we continue to see. Please continue to share videos and report hit registration issues you still encounter after the patch.

FIX FOR LIFELINE “PICK ME UP” BANNER BUG ON PS4

  • The issue has been resolved and we will be re-enabling the banner after the patch is live.
    • NOTE: We made changes to client and backend to address this and it’ll take a little time to take full effect. We’re expecting the error to resolve within a few hours after the patch is live.

[PC ONLY] CRASHES SPECIFIC TO INTEL CPUs

We investigated the crash reports from many people who were crashing frequently and found that Intel CPUs sometimes were not executing the instructions properly in one particular function. A common example was an instruction that only reads a register crashed on writing to invalid memory. With the help of many forum users, we found that lowering the clock speed always fixed the crashes, even if the CPU wasn’t overclocked or overheating. Thanks everyone, with a big shout out to Falkentyne, TEZZ0FIN0, JorPorCorTTV and MrDakk!

This has been by far the most commonly reported PC crash over the last month or so and we’ve notified Intel about the issue. In the meantime, we’ve put a workaround in this patch to avoid the crashing at your original clock speeds just by changing the instructions used by that one function. Please continue to send your crash logs to our forums so we can analyze and fix any issues you encounter!

ADDITIONAL BUG FIXES AND CHANGES

  • Fixed issue with the Fortified Passive ability for Gibraltar and Caustic where they would take damage through shields.
  • Fixed the bug that allowed players to stick objects to Gibraltar’s Gun Shield.
    • Admittedly it’s been fun to see the results of this but the behavior is not intended by design and could get out of control. Items will no longer stick to Gibraltar’s Gun Shield, however, it will now deflect Arc Stars.
  • We have identified some issues with -novid, and will be disabling the flag until we can address the issues.  Thank you for your patience

In other Apex Legends news, EA has confirmed that a mobile version is in development, so we should hear more about that soon.
