Red Dead Online Next Update Hitting Next Week and Here’s What’s in It

In a press release, Rockstar Games has announced that the Red Dead Online next update is set for release this February 26 next week!

First off, there’s new Free Roam Events, new Showdown Modes, new Races, and more!

New Gameplay

New additions will include the Fool’s Gold Free Roam Event, where players will compete to control an equal parts gaudy and protective suit of Golden Armor. Fight to take down the armor wearer to earn points and claim it as your own, then turn the tables and earn points for kills while wearing the armor.

Competitive Challenges gets a fresh catch with Fishing Challenges. Fishing Challenges are broken out by type, opt in to the challenge and you’ll receive all the equipment necessary to compete including the rod as well lures and bait specific to the challenge type, whether it’s crickets for a river challenge, crayfish for the swamp or worms for lakes. Then head to an appropriate body of water to take part – also, you’ll be made safe from the nuisance of trigger-happy outlaws while you are taking the challenge. Catch the highest weight total of fish to win.

New Weapons

B.D. and Co. is turning out the high grade, high capacity Evans Repeater rifle. The Rare Shotgun is D.D. Packenbush’s latest variation of the powerful double-barreled longarm. Sporting an antique style faded brass finish and an artfully adorned stock. Both weapons will be available via the Wheeler & Rawson Catalogue and local Gunsmiths.

New Clothing and Emotes

A wide range of new clothing to further customize your character – from the snake adorned Diamondback Hat to the fur trimmed Rutledge Vest – is also on the way with new Outfits, Jackets, Boots, Coats, Gloves, Hats, Vests and more. In addition to all the clothing that will be available for purchase at your leisure, keep an eye on the shops and the Catalogue for unique special items that will come and go. A variety of new Emotes is also on the way – featuring everything from greets to reactions and taunts.

PS4 Early Access Content
In addition to new Target Races, PlayStation 4 players will have early access to Open Target Races where you compete in an open space to take out the most targets on horseback. PS4 players will also get early access to the Jawbone Knife, a unique melee weapon with a handle artfully carved from the remains of a slain animal’s jaw, as well as a range of new clothing options and 3 new Emotes.

Bonus XP This Week
Play the Red Dead Online Beta all this week to earn 20% more XP on all activities ahead of the launch of these new updates on February 26. And be sure to look out for new bonuses, giveaways, promotions and content updates weekly, as we continue to build, balance and evolve the world of Red Dead Online.

What do you think of the new content set to drop next week? Will it be enough for you to give the game another chance?

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 The Replacer Is Back and He Brought a Guest

Originally starting way back in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, The Replacer is back in Black Ops 4! Once again, he’s portrayed by actor Peter Stormare, and he’s hilarious! Watch the clip below to see his guest, Twitch Streamer, Dr Disrespect banter with him.

Watch the Black Ops 4 The Replacer ad below.

For Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Operation Grand Heist, Activision and Treyarch have brought back the fan favorite character, The Replacer, and put a new spin on things. This chapter sees The Replacer playing an adverse hand in various, real news stories from around the world. From The White House to the farmhouse, when something goes askew, chances are The Replacer did it.

This is the fourth time Peter Stormare has appeared as The Replacer in a Call of Duty ad, and I gather, it won’t be the last.

In other Black Ops 4 news, a big patch just dropped yesterday that not only ushered in Operation Grand Heist, but also a ton of weapon balancing changes for both multiplayer and Blackout. Another new thing added? Loot boxes! You can read about that here.

Path of Exile Synthesis Info and Trailer

If you’re a fan of Grinding Gear Games’ Path of Exile, you’ll be glad to know that the free-to-play action RPG is getting a new expansion called Synthesis. You can check out the Path of Exile Synthesis info and trailer below.

In Path of Exile: Synthesis, you will encounter Cavas, recover his lost memories and chain them together to reach valuable rewards, new boss fights and crafting opportunities. Our March expansion contains the Synthesis challenge league, new items, new gems, a complete rebalance of spells throughout Path of Exile, an integrated version of the Betrayal league and much, much more.

To help Cavas remember his past, you will find fragments of his decaying memories throughout Wraeclast. Fight your way through the monsters that inhabit his memories in order to activate stabilisers before the memories collapse around you.

Stabilised memory fragments can be pieced together to navigate the void in Cavas’ mind and reach his distant memories. But beware, these fragments can only be explored a limited number of times before they collapse completely, so plan your path carefully.

Within Cavas’ distant memories are many types of valuable rewards. As you progress deeper within the recesses of his darkest memories, his mind starts to synthesise encounters with dangerous and twisted manifestations.

FRACTURED ITEMS

Decaying memories yield Fractured Items with broken mods that are locked in place. While these are not generally useful as-is, you’ll find occasional Fractured Items that have excellent locked mods, resulting in much easier crafting.

THE SYNTHESISER

In the Memory Nexus lies the Synthesiser, a powerful device that lets you destroy Fractured Items to create base types with custom implicit mods. These implicit mods are somewhat controllable by careful choice of input items to consume.

SPELLCASTING REBALANCE

Synthesis also contains a complete balance overhaul of all spells in Path of Exile, six new Chaos and Holy spells and significant incentives for hand-casting including several new support gems.

NEW CASTER ARCHETYPES

The new Holy Spellcaster archetype features Path of Exile’s first Holy spells, including Divine Ire, Purifying Flame and Wave of Conviction. The Chaos Spellcaster archetype not only provides an easier introduction to Chaos spells with Soulrend, but adds many new tools to Path of Exile’s existing arsenal of Chaos spells.

NEW ITEMS

In addition to Fractured Items, Synthesised Items and over a dozen new Divination Cards designed by our supporters, Path of Exile: Synthesis contains 16 powerful new unique items with a focus on impacting the way players play Path of Exile.

Path of Exile Synthesis will slash out this March 8, 2019, which could very well be the PS4 release date of the game.

Apex Legends New Weapon Coming Tomorrow, Here’s a Sneak Peek

While we’ve gotten a fair number of leaks regarding potential Apex Legends new game modes, and even new Legends, we now have our first official confirmation that a new weapon will be available starting tomorrow!

This was announced by the official Apex Legends Twitter account who teased the Apex Legends new weapon in a short video!

It looks to be a full auto rifle of some sort, and does’t seem to be any gun in the Titanfall universe — at least at first glance. Given that we just had a patch released yesterday, this new weapon will most likely be rolled out via a server-side update. Once it’s out, we’ll be sure to let our readers know.

Not a fan of Apex Legends? We list down the top seven reasons why non-battle royale fans will get hooked with the game.

Top 7 Reasons Why Apex Legends Can and Will Hook in Non-Battle Royale Fans

I have to confess: I’ve never been a fan of battle royale games. It doesn’t matter if it’s PUBG, Fortnite, or even Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s Blackout, I just don’t dig the whole genre since you wait for a long time to actually start a match, and it can be over even before you’ve picked up a weapon.

However, I find myself playing Apex Legends more and more each day. Is it because of the hype? I doubt it since Fortnite and Blackout had a ton more hype around them, and I didn’t feel hooked in with both even after trying it repeatedly.

Below, are some of the reasons why I think Apex Legends has succeeded in sucking in non-battle royale fans like myself into the fold.

Super Easy to Get Into

Is the building element of Fortnite daunting? Yeah, I thought so. In Apex Legends, you’re given a chance to pick a Legend, read up on their abilities and that’s it, mostly. While each character has different skills, they don’t overrun the game that you’ll wish you read up on each the first time you boot it up. Each Legend ability is easy enough to figure out, and they’re easy enough to use as well. Of course, being able to use an ability is vastly different from being good at using said ability, and that’s where the skill gap comes in.

apex legends popularity

Pace Is Fast But Not Too Much

When people think of battle royale, most think of approaching things slow, being methodical, taking your time picking out loot and more. While that’s present in Apex Legends, the overall experience is a lot faster. Think of it it as battle royale arcade, though it’s so much more than that.

Gunplay Has That Titanfall Feel…

Of course, however everything is packaged, if the overall “feel” of the game and its gunplay isn’t up to snuff, no one will play it, right? Thankfully, Apex Legends has the same tight gunplay feel that Titanfall 2 has, which isn’t surprising since Respawn has basically gathered the guns in Titanfall 2, changed their make up a bit, and plopped them in Apex Legends.

…and Legend Abilities Are Fun and Fair

Apex Legends is a mish-mash of different kinds of games put together, and one of its components is that it’s a hero shooter in addition to being a battle royale game. While this could have very well led to a disaster in terms of balancing, it hasn’t so far. Each character has a set of abilities — both passive and active — that can be used to either attack enemies, support their squadmates, or help themselves.

Each Legend feels unique, and while the game hasn’t been out for a long time, there’s no current meta where one Legend easily outpaces the rest. You can use any of the Legends and feel like you’re contributing to your squad; it all depends on your play style.

Ping System Is Genius

Like it or not, not everyone uses mics when playing video games, and honestly, sometimes it’s better that way. Well, Respawn has found a way to circumvent this and it’s pure genius! In Apex Legends, there’s a “ping” system where players can tag items, areas of interest, enemies, and more all with the touch of a button! Think of it as something close to Battlefield ‘s spotting system, but without the Doritos, and useful in almost situation.

I’ll be very surprised if other games don’t copy this ping system of Respawn’s. It’s easily one of the game’s best features.

You Can Get Resurrected

In other battle royale games, once you’re down, you can get revived, but once you’re dead, you stay dead. It’s not the case in Apex Legends. For a considerable amount of time, once you’ve been downed and outright killed, your ally can pick up your banner and resurrect you in one of the game’s many respawn points.

It’s one way to have people stick around even when they’re dead, and it blends in well with Apex Legends’ focus on teamwork.

There’s No Long Wait Between Matches! Loading Times, Matchmaking, and More Are Super Fast, Which Makes Jumping From One Game to the Next Bearable

This last one might seem like a small thing for some, but for someone like me that abhorred looking at loading screens and waiting, this might be one of the best hooks in the game! In Apex Legends, the loading is super fast, and you never wait long in filling a match, matchmaking, waiting for allies to pick a Legend, and more.

There’s no staging area that you’ll be put in before the match is filled. Just hit a button to matchmake, and in a few quick seconds, you’re picking a Legend and then being dropped off as a team or solo.

The fact that Apex Legends has super fast load times, quick matchmaking is the perfect remedy for Call of Duty (and multiplayer shooter fans in general) who hate all the waiting in battle royale games.

There you have it! Do you agree with our list? Are you someone that’s not a battle royale fan that got roped in by Apex Legends? If so, let us know how it did in the comments below.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Loot Boxes Introduced in Latest Update, Now Has 3 In-Game Microtransaction Sources

In case you haven’t turned on your PS4 or Xbox One just yet, you might want to do that now, as a new title update for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is live! This big patch not only introduces a slew of multiplayer tweaks, but there’s a bunch of new content from Operation: Grand Heist.

While we’re getting a new Specialist, a couple of new guns, weapon camos and more, it seems we’re also getting another thing that possibly no one asked for, which are Reserve Crates (Reserve Cases); Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s term for loot boxes. Those who played Black Ops 3 will remember these as Supply Drops. Note that Reserve Cases can be earned within the game by playing multiplayer and Blackout.

With the introduction of Black Ops 4 loot boxes, the game now has three microtransaction sources within the game! Players can use real world money to buy character/weapon skins and other stuff, use real world money to skip “Tiers” in its Contraband stream, and now, Reserve Crates. Here’s what they look like in the game.

Direct purchase items using real world money:

Contraband Stream with “skippable” tiers (you can buy a tier(s) for real world money):

Black Ops 4 Reserve Cases and Crates (Supply Drops/loot boxes):

Again, the Contraband items, and the Reserve Cases can be earned by playing multiplayer and/or Blackout, and these only include cosmetic items (as far as we know). Let’s hope that no weapons are gated behind Reserve Cases/Crates since Black Ops 3 suffered from this via its Supply Drop system.

For those keeping score, Black Ops 4 is a full priced $60 game, and has a Season Pass, and now has an assortment of microtransaction sources in the game itself. I gather, Activision must be pressing hard to obtain more money from the game due to it under-performing.

Do you think this year’s Call of Duty will end up the same? And the bigger question here is: will you be OK with it?

Based on this feedback we’ve also made adjustments to a number of upcoming Assignments.

As always, please do keep the feedback coming.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Update 1.13 Now Out, Here’s How Big It Is and the Known List of Changes

Update #2:

The patch notes for today’s update has been outlined below.

Update #1:

Updated the post with the official content found in Operation: Grand Heist straight from the press release.

As expected, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 update 1.13 is now rolling out for Xbox One and PS4! It’s now live on Xbox One, and clocks in at 11GB, while the PS4 patch is at . PC players will get their update later in the week.

The big stuff included in Black Ops 4 update 1.13 is, of course, the introduction of the new Operation called “Grand Heist.” Unfortunately for Xbox One owners, this Operation is set to arrive on the PS4 first, with the Xbox One, and PC getting it seven days after.

Treyarch is doing a huge balance pass for multiplayer, which you can read up on below. Once the full patch notes are live, we’ll update the post.

Operation Grand Heist’s free, new content includes:
  • New Specialist – Available in Multiplayer and Blackout, Outrider makes her Black Ops 4 debut, allowing players to silently take out enemies with explosive precision with her longbow, the Sparrow.
  • New Blackout Location and Updates – Drop into the roughest, toughest, and wildest new Blackout location, Ghost Town, which features two areas. Inspired byStandoff, an intense classic multiplayer map from Black Ops II, the above ground destination provides flanking routes that call for strategic positioning with long and medium ranged combat. Below ground, fans can also explore underlying caverns inspired by the classic Zombies map Buried, where they’ll find heavy duty gear amongst hordes of the undead. Additionally, Operation Grand Heistintroduces a new Blackout mode called Hot Pursuit, launching on February 22 on PlayStation 4 and other platforms to follow. Hot Pursuit is fast-paced and frenetic, and debuts three new vehicles – SUV, muscle car and PBR assault boat, all in special variants themed to Operation Grand Heist – as squads race to supply drops placed around the map containing high-level armor, weapons and grenades to dominate their opponents.
  • New Black Market Gear – The Black Market has been restocked with new weapon camos, outfits, gestures, and accessories themed for Operation Grand Heist. This includes notable weapons like the Rampage Auto Shotgun, Switchblade X9 SMG, and the Home Wrecker demolition hammer, all unlockable through the Contraband Tiers as fans play through the game. A new long-range weapon called the Vendetta Sniper Rifle is also coming later in the season.
  • New Zombies Features – Operation Grand Heist delivers new features to the Zombies mode including a new round-based Gauntlet challenge mode for the Classified map, along with a brand-new perk addition called the Ethereal Razor that substantially increases a player’s melee damage with area of effect and life re-gen for each hit.
In addition to the free content, Black Ops Pass owners gain access to even more in-game content, available first on PlayStation®4:
  • New Multiplayer Map, Casino – A medium-sized map set in a luxurious casino in Monaco where elite thieves formed an elaborate plan to steal the winning racecars on display. Casino features high-intensity combat as players weave through buzzing slot-machines and topple across gambling tables. This wide-open space allows for long-range to mid-range combat with little protection from enemies.
  • New Multiplayer Map, Lockup – A medium-sized map set in a Los Angeles police station, Lockup was the site of an assault to destroy evidence that led to the headquarters of an organized crime syndicate. Fans can dominate the rooftop positions, bail out when cornered and tactically shut down areas with operational doors to gain the upper hand on their opponents.
  • New Blackout Character, Cosmic Silverback – Black Ops Pass owners will unlock this deadly Zombie silverback gorilla, an iconic fan-favorite boss originally from the Dead Ops Arcade from Call of Duty: Black Ops.

Buying 12 Months of PlayStation Plus Will Get You Rainbow Six Siege for Free But There’s a Catch

If you’re a PS4 owner, chances are you’re also a member of PlayStation Plus. Not only does the paid subscription service offer free games for members every month, but it’s also required for almost every game to be playable online.

Sony has a new promotion going on right now for North America wherein if you buy 12 months of PlayStation Plus, you’ll get Ubisoft’s excellent Rainbow Six Siege for free!

PlayStation Plus 12-Month Membership with free Rainbow Six Siege link

Before anyone gets too excited, those who have an existing PlayStation Plus membership won’t be able to avail of it. Yes, that means those who want to stack  their subscription and get a free game out of it are so out of luck! Cancelling your PS Plus membership and renewing it to avail of this deal won’t work, either (according to Reddit user BitterBubblegum).

For those who’s PS Plus membership has lapsed, you’re in luck! Snag it now as the deal is only available until March 3, 2019.

Speaking of Rainbow Six Siege, go check out the gameplay video showcasing the new Operators entering the game for Year 4.
