Call of Duty: WWII Launched With Double XP Active Unintentionally, Triple XP Confirmed

Just a few hours ago, we reported that Call of Duty: WWII apparently had a triple XP buff active according to Sledgehammer Games. While we couldn’t discern at the time whether Michael Condrey, Sledgehammer Games boss, was joking or not, we know the real deal.

It seems Condrey wasn’t joking at all, and what’s more, the game launched with double XP active for everyone unintentionally! This was revealed by Condrey himself over on Reddit where he address the triple XP questions.

For those that can’t read the Reddit post, it says:

No sarcasm in my response. We launched with 2XP active, unintentionally. Everyone was getting 2XP since 11/3 and up until we made the playlist change late Thursday night, which effectively launched 3XP.

Come Monday, when we turn off the XP bonus, it will effectively revert to what we should have had at launch (aka 1XP).

So early players, you got a huge head start.

PS. Positive intent is the spirit of life. Keep it classy, Reddit.

While it’s still a chore for most people (including me) to get into actual matches due to the dedicated servers being turned off in favor of peer-to-peer (P2P), it might be worth it to wait it out until you get into a match just to get some of that triple XP juice before the spigot is turned off come Monday.

Don’t forget to check out our video feature where we pit Call of Duty: WWII’s Headquarters mode against Destiny 2’s Farm, and see which one does the shared social space better.

Report: Call of Duty: WWII Triple XP “Accidentally” Turned on by Sledgehammer Games

While double XP for Call of Duty: WWII has been on-going since Friday, some might have been wondering whether it’s really turned on since the end-of-game reports do not show a significant increase in XP per match.

Well, it seems, we aren’t getting any COD: WWII double XP, but rather, it’s triple XP! Over on Twitter, Michael Condrey, Sledgehammer Games boss, tweeted that the studio “accidentally” triggered triple XP for the game, but it’ll be gone by Monday morning.

The tweet says:

You’re right, it’s not. We accidentally triggered 3XP. So grind while you can this weekend while it’s on. Monday AM it goes back to normal.

I’m honestly not sure if Condrey was being sarcastic or not given from my personal experience, it doesn’t feel like I’m getting double XP in every match, but just the standard (normal) XP dole out.

Have you noticed a big jump in COD: WWII XP gains per match? Or are you in the boat that it doesn’t seem to be different at all?

For more on Call of Duty: WWII, go check out our social space match-up against the game’s Headquarters vs Destiny’s “Farm.” For those who’ve noticed significant server issues in matches, Sledgehammer Games has released a statement that gamers will be playing on P2P (peer to peer) matchmaking while dedicated server issues are being sorted out.

Here’s Our First Look at Tekken 7 Geese Howard Gameplay

In case you didn’t know, Akuma will be joined by another non-Tekken character in Bandai Namco’s Tekken 7. Entering the fray will be Fatal Fury big baddie, Geese Howard!

Watch the video clip below to see Geese Howard tear Miguel a new one with his trademark Repukken and Double Repukken projectiles. Strangely enough, we don’t see any of his Nage counter moves, so we didn’t get to hear any of his “predictable” dialogue lines that should bring back memories for Fatal Fury fans. Check out the Tekken 7 Geese Howard gameplay footage to see his basic moves on display.

As you can see in the video, Geese is like Akuma in the sense that he has a special meter  that he can build up and use for special attacks, and he even uses it for his ultimate!

Geese Howard will be available in Tekken 7 before the year is done.

Call of Duty: WWII Dedicated Servers Currently Offline, P2P Connection Implemented for Now (Update #2)

Update #2 (11/11/2017):

Sledgehammer Games has tweeted that the game will be on P2P connections for the weekend since more testing is being done.

Once we have another update, we’ll update the post.

Update:

Sledgehammer Games is restoring dedicated servers, though Gamebattles will be offline while it’s being implemented.

Once there’s another update on this, we’ll update the post to reflect it.

Original Story:

Just a few hours ago, we reported that Activision saying that they are “aware” of the current matchmaking issues players have encountered in Call of Duty: WWII. Well, we now have an update, but it might be not what players are expecting.

First, the good news: multiplayer connectivity is supposedly better than before, however, it’s at the expense of dedicated servers. This was announced by the Sledgehammer Games Twitter account.

In case you can’t read the tweet, it says:

MP connectivity improved from earlier, but dedicated servers are currently off-line. Expect normal P2P performance including host migrations. We’ll be sharing updates throughout the day on current status.

If you’re playing COD: WWII multiplayer, have you noticed any big changes in matchmaking and connections? Is it better or worse? From my testing, it seems it’s easier to get into matches now, so there’s at least that.

In other COD: WWII news, don’t forget that there’s a game update that rolled out today, which you can read the patch notes in full right here. There’s currently a double XP weekend event too, but it seems players aren’t really getting double XP or maybe it’s just me.

For the latest updates on COD: WWII, keep it locked here on MP1st.

Gearbox Boss Randy Pitchford: “Very Much Against” Predatory Monetization Schemes

With loot boxes quickly the norm in almost any game these days, some might wonder if all developers are fans of microtransactions in games, or at least how it’s being implemented now. One developer has spoken out, and it’s none other than Gearbox Software (Borderlands, Battleborn) boss Randy Pitchford.

Over on Twitter, Pitchford posted a lengthy statement condemning “predatory” monetization schemes, how he’s opposed to it, and how the term “loot box” is now being seen as a negative. For reference, loot boxes were in the Borderlands franchise, though it wasn’t used like what’s happening now.

Here’s what Pitchford had to say for those who might not be able to read the embedded tweets:

I am generally very much against predatory monetization schemes in F2P games for consumable goods and even more so against them in premium games. I tend to oppose such techniques both as an artist and creator and also as a customer and a gamer. Evidence of my position is that we never sold Golden Keys (an arguably consumable good) in the Borderlands game. We had non-trivial levels of demand from customers to do so, but we did not relent. We chose to only give Golden Keys away via social media and partner relations.

Contrarily, I tend to be very supportive of post-launch monetization of durable goods as DLC in *almost* any form. Again, as a customer and as a creator, I think that new, discrete content that took energy to create deserves to have the effort compensated.  I do, however, object to some of the arguments and language being used to fight against the predatory monetization schemes I have just derided in the first post in this thread.

As an artists and creator who very much *loves* the nature of the “loot box” as it appears in our Borderlands games, I’m concerned that the words “loot box” are being used as short hand for a practice I am not in favor of. Can we find another term for what we object to?

Also, I have seen arguments against consumable goods that are for customers who want to speed up progress along these lines: “Grinding sucks, I shouldn’t have to pay to avoid grinding.” I have an issue with this kind of argument…

In the case where “grinding” is, well, playing the game and in the case where the player does not want to, well, play the game but doesn’t want to pay cash to skip playing the game, I recommend considering another choice: don’t play the game. If the “grinding” is the game and the game is not fun, the rational choice is to play other games that are fun. If playing the game is fun, it should be a reward, not an obstacle to play the damn thing.

If playing the game is not fun and the desire is to skip it, well, that’s a game that should be skipped and passed upon.

I realize that there are some people who want the status of having beaten a game or having achieved a certain degree of progress in a game and are willing to pay in order to achieve that. Those are precisely the sorts of minds those kinds of games are for.

But if you are the kind of mind who does not want to pay for progress and is not actually enjoying the “grinding” of playing the game, then, well, frankly, you should take it upon yourself to vote with your attention and just stop playing that game and move to something else.

I love games. I love playing them. I love creating them. As a customer, I am very happy making sure that I am helping to finance the efforts of artists who entertainment. As a customer, I can make free choices about where my time and moneys goes. So should you!

Pitchford also mentioned that if you want to discuss these things with him, then you can do so by calling NerdvanaLive or leaving a comment. The show happens tomorrow.

Do you agree with Pitchford, and do you think we’ll see predatory-like instances for Borderlands 3 loot boxes? Also, if Battleborn got big or sold well, do you think he’d have made a loot box microtransaction thing for it?

Are Single-Player Games Dying Because of Online Multiplayer?

If you’re a gamer you have definitely noticed that the games industry has been shifting inexorably towards a multiplayer future where players get to share their experience with others. When video games were first introduced to the public, they were almost exclusively a single-player experience.

If you played video games in the ’90s, and early ’00s (2000s), you probably played all alone by default, or sometimes, if the game permitted it, had one friend to play split-screen with. There were also a few co-op games where you would invite a friend to try and beat your highest score. At that time, there was no such thing as an online multiplayer game (Gran Turismo Sport, anyone) and the idea of having two people into a game seemed rather uncertain at the time.

gt sport update

Having said that, some people still prefer single-player games, which offered a perfect, solipsistic fantasy where they were by themselves saving the world, and having it all revolve around them and not an army or strangers. Some people still love the epic all-consuming experience, but it’s hard to ignore the glorious future the games industry is shifting to. It’s a future that is filled with seamless co-operative and competitive gaming where your single-player adventure magically segue into multiplayer face-offs, and team-ups.

These days you’ll find that there is an increased focus on multiplayer games, and the single-player-only experience is quickly dwindling with very few games sticking to a core single-player experience. Many games are now adding multiplayer modes where you can have your friends share the joys of playing at any given time. With multiplayer you have the chance to play with your friends, chat with them and even share something that you all enjoy. The multiplayer mode creates some sense of community which brings together the entire gaming community into a collective social group. This alone has largely contributed to online multiplayer rise. Players also have a chance to show off their skills, and that too, can engage people in many ways, and the addition of social media helps a lot.

It is not just the consumer preference that’s changing, the game producer strategy has also changed. Many companies are putting less focus on developing single-player games. For them it is all about the money that they rake in. It’s a known fact that certain online features in multiplayer games can turn a title into a potential cash cow for the companies. How do they do this? Multiplayer games are much easier to monetize after they have been released. Developers can sell extra downloadable content (DLC) such as new weapons, new scenarios and maps to fight in. Players are also encouraged to buy in as early as possible so they can get good at the game as quickly as possible. This means that the company gets a huge amount from the upfront sales they make. Multiplayer titles are able to keep their gamers playing for a much smaller underlying cost when compared to single-player games especially when the game is narrative=led. Multiplayer has viral acquisition techniques and this reduces the market costs for the developers. They also have viral retention techniques that keep players in your game rather than in their competitors. It is therefore evident why developers would be more interested in channeling more funds to multiplayer games, which is happening now.

So the question still remains: are single-player games dying? The answer to that question will differ depending on whom you ask. There are those that will say that it’s slowly dying, while others will disagree. The truth of the matter is. single-player games will always have place in the market because there will always be gamers who are passionate for that narrative-driven, structured gaming experience. They have a passion for the character, the story and the setting that invokes their emotions. Even though that community might be dwindling down, they still do exist. Many will claim that single-player tittle carry more weight, and longevity than their multiplayer counterparts. They also have the potential to be classics because unlike multiplayer games they stick to their stories and do not feel the pressure to keep changing so as to fit a newer audience. Players can therefore go back to them and still enjoy the story they loved.

What’s the final take? The truth is that multiplayer and single-player have different audiences each with their own preferences.

Spotify Nintendo Switch App Being Considered, Vote Now to Show Support

With the Nintendo Switch now supporting the Hulu video app, many are wondering what’s next for entertainment app support, and the additional functionality that they would bring to the system.

Spotify has made it clear that they’ll consider supporting Nintendo’s handheld/home console, if the demand is big enough.

To show your support and vote for the app, be sure to head here. At time of posting, there have been over 6,000 votes cast.

The Nintendo Switch launched with very little support for third-party apps, and it was a little concerning. However, with how fast the device is selling, and with Hulu jumping in, I think we’ll see a lot more applications made available in the very near future.

Would you like to see Spotify come to Nintendo Switch? What about some other apps? Let us know.

Absolver Update Makes Changes to Progression & Economy, Fixes Bugs & More

A new update for Absolver is currently rolling out for PC and PlayStation 4. This update makes some minor changes to the games economy, a couple of bug fixes and more.

For the full list of Absolver patch notes, see below:

  • [Design] Lower XP gains when defeating Level 3 boss and beyond
  • [Design] Higher XP gains in Combat Trials
  • [Design] Cost of Rift Disks changed to 5 Crystals
  • [Design] Cost of the Attribute Points reset changed to 3 Crystals
  • [Design] Marked ones have been reverted to their original form. Halloween masks now only available through Rift Disks.

> The very high amount of XP given by Bosses made it too easy to farm XP and prestige levels in PvE, which was not the original intention, so this has been rebalanced. Combat Trials also now give more XP, so players will now win Prestige levels and Crystals faster. Rift Disks cost has also been updated to reflect this change.

1.10 and 1.09 also include a number of bugfixes to improve the overall experience.

Sloclap has announced that they are focusing on a 3v3 game mode, which will come in a later update:

The whole team is focused on 3v3 game mode, and on adding features to the equipment and essence menus (such as allowing players to choose the color of their equipment, or acquiring specific weapons and gear with fragments). There will probably be another small update before 3v3 is live (this update will add an anticheat system, amongst other things); we will give more information and release dates very soon, so stay tuned!

What do you think to the economy change? Are you looking forward to being able to test out the 3v3 mode in a future update? Let us know below.

Dead by Daylight Update Makes Big Balance Changes, Fixes Bugs & More

Behaviour Interactive has released a new patch for Dead by Daylight on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Update 1.19 is currently rolling out, fixing balancing issues and more.

For the full list of patch notes, see below:

NEW CONTENT
  • Dead by Daylight 1.19 added new VFX when failing a generator skill check to wake up

NEW FEATURES

  • Added a status effect on the portrait of a Survivor who is asleep
  • Added dissolve VFX on the Nightmare when a survivor is transitioning to the Dream State
  • Dead by Daylight update 1.19 has removed the in and out of Dream World transition when The Nightmare performs his memento mori kill. Now survivors who are being killed by the Nightmare will always be in the Dream State
BALANCE
  • Increased The Nightmare’s terror radius from 16 to 24 meters. Increasing the Terror radius allows for survivors to have more room to maneuver around Freddy without having their aura seen. We’ve matched the Terror Radius and Lullaby to keep The Nightmare’s presence consistent at a base.
  • Dead by Daylight version 1.19 increased The Nightmares slowdown when successfully putting someone to sleep from 1 to 3 seconds. The slowdown will be more present and give survivors a slight window to put distance between themselves and Freddy before they are asleep.
  • The Nightmare will now appear twice briefly during the Dream Transition instead of being visible throughout the Dream Transition. This change should help Freddy players to confuse their targets and encourage a disengage and surprise strategy.
  • Survivors with the Adrenaline perk at all Tiers will automatically be woken up from the Dream State when Adrenaline triggers. Adrenaline tiers 1 and 2 gain the ability to heal from dying as well as Tier 1 gains a 5-second sprint on activation. Updated description in English only
  • Dead by Daylight 1.19 removed the ability to wake up a survivor in crawl state. Now when healed to the injured state they will automatically be woken up. Also applicable when using the Unbreakable perk
  • Changed the medkit add-ons Needle & Thread and Surgical Suture to have an additive increased skill check chances instead of a multiplicative one. Changed the Surgical Suture Skillcheck chance, increased it from Slightly(3%) to Moderately(5%). English only
  • Tweaked the Dream State VFX when a survivor is being pulled out of a locker when awake. Now the survivor is put to sleep at the beginning of the interaction rather than at the end
  • Nightmare’s Red Paint Brush add-on reduces terror radius by 16 meters instead of 8 meters, this is an adjustment since we increased the terror radius to 24 meters as a base for Freddy.
  • Dead by Daylight update 1.19 fixed a bug where we made the 0.3 seconds of the attack always play has made all lunges feel longer. In fact, we are playing the full attack phase animation allowing the killer too fully swing before playing the blade wipe animation. We have made a tweak this patch where this is not true for the obstruction hit. An obstruction as soon as it is registered will go into the obstruction hit cooldown.

BUG FIXED in Dead by Daylight 1.19

  • Fixed an issue that caused The Nightmare to see the outline of a survivor when they stood in front of a generator.
  • Dead by Daylight 1.19 fixed an issue where the attack detection phase would be skipped as soon as a target is found. This affects the lunge and makes it so that the full attack animation 0.3 seconds is played each time you swing, after the attack phase the character will go into the blade wipe, obstruction hit, or miss swing animation. This was done in the Nightmare DLC release. We have now adjusted the obstruction hit to not completely play, please see balance change for more details.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause a survivor to fall out of the world and die when getting rescued from a hook.
  • Dead by Daylight update 1.19 has fixed an issue that could cause survivors arms to contort when getting unhooked.
  • Fixed an issue that made it impossible to interact with a totem located between a tree and fishing boat in the Backwater Swamp theme.
  • Adjusted the shape of the yard of one of the houses in Badham Preschool that caused grass to appear inside the house.
  • Fixed an issue that made it possible to get stuck behind a chest in the Badham Preschool map.
  • Dead by Daylight version 1.19 adjusted the collision on some bush asset barriers in Badhman Preschool.
  • Fixed an issue that made it impossible to pass between a hedge and a rock on the Badham Preschool map.
  • Fixed an issue that made it impossible to pass between a tree and a trashcan in the Badham Preschool map.
  • Dead by Daylight update 1.19 fixed an issue that made it impossible to pass between a rock and fence on the Badham Preschool map.
Fixed a collision that sometimes blocked player movement between the crashed school bus and a rock in the Autohaven Wrecker’s theme.
  • Dead by Daylight 1.19 fixed an issue that sometimes made it impossible for the Hillbilly and the Cannibal to use the chainsaw sprint in the main entrance of the Smokehouse.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the Hag’s killer stain to appear extremely bright.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause survivors to teleport to the first floor of the Treatment Room when healing another survivor on the control panel.

Overwatch Movie is Something Activision “Would Like Very Much”

What with how popular the many Overwatch shorts have been, I think it’s inevitable that one day soon, we’ll see the game’s lovable cast on the big screen. An Overwatch movie seems like a no-brainer at this point, and it looks like Activision is more than up for it!

In an interview with MCV, Activision senior executive Tim Kilpin commented on the notion of an Overwatch movie with: “We would like that very much.”

Kilpin added that franchises like Overwatch are “frankly like no other.”

“We’re a platform and a portfolio, these franchises exist across multiple platforms, so it’s not just the game as a driver, but it’s linear content [movies and TV] as a way to expand the audience and expand the opportunity and then esports [too], because pull all that together and you’re talking about franchises that are frankly like no other.”

Before any Overwatch movie happens, however, there’s first going to be the planned Call of Duty film. Kilpin also commented on that, saying the CoD movie could further “expand the base audience.”

“Anytime you take a franchise as storied as this, with this kind of legacy, and expand it into a new form factor you have to be really careful, you’re absolutely right … So frankly, if the script and the story isn’t right we won’t do it, it’s not one of those situations where someone is saying ‘I don’t care just get it made!’ that’s not what’s happening. We do think that if it’s done well it has the opportunity to expand the base audience, beyond the traditional foundation that the game appeals to.”

It will be very interesting to see how the Call of Duty film resonates with movie-goers, and how its success (or failure) impacts the future of an Overwatch film.

Would you like to see an Overwatch movie happen? Let us know!

Star Wars Battlefront II Heroes Currently Take 40 Hours Each to Unlock, Community Finds

Following the Star Wars Battlefront II beta and its highly controversial loot box implementation, the gaming community has been keeping a close watch on the state of the game and the changes that DICE promised to make.

Unfortunately, it looks like the improvements to the loot boxes and microtransactions weren’t enough, with players still up in arms about the slow rate at which Credits (the in-game, non-premium currency) are earned.

Reddit user TheHotterPotato tested to see just how long it takes to get enough Credits to buy a new Hero. With Credits being awarded based on time played, as oppose to score achieved per match, his results should reflect what all other players are experiencing.

TheHotterPotato found that he earned an average of 275 Credits per Galactic Assault match, each of which took an average of 11 minutes and 9 seconds to complete.

To unlock a new Hero, users are currently required to spend 60,000 Credits. By TheHotterPotato’s calculations, that would take 2,395.97 minutes to earn, which is around 40 hours of game time per Hero.

Do note that Credits earned through Challenges were not counted, and a player focusing on their completion could earn Heroes a little more quickly. However, I still think most players will agree that 40 hours of grinding to unlock one Hero is a bit insane.

I know many community members are hoping for a reduction in Hero prices once the game fully launches. For now, however, players are stuck grinding it out!

What do you think of the 40-hour grind? Should the Heroes just be unlocked from the beginning? Let us know.

Injustice 2 Fighter Pack 3 Characters Revealed, Watch the Trailer for Some Turtle Action

Those looking for more fighters to play as in NetherReam Studios‘ Injustice 2, rejoice! The studio announced the Injustice 2 Fighter Pack 3 characters today! Joining the roster list are the Atom, Enchantress, and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!

You read that right! Leo, Michelangelo, Raphael and Donatello will be suiting up (shelling up?) to fight the likes of Superman, Batman and more. Check out the video below to see the Turtles break up a soon-to-be fight brewing between the Atom and Enchantress.

Those looking forward to more DC characters might be a bit disappointed with this news, but how can you not like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, right? This is the last announced DLC, though there could be more down the line.

Atom is set to launch this December 12, with the Enchantress set for release in January, and the Ninja crew in February.

Are you excited for the Turtles or should NetherRealm plucked more fighters from DC’s stable of heroes and villains?

Star Wars Battlefront II Galactic Assault Matches “Should’t Be Super Short,” DICE Discussing Internally About It

If you played the Star Wars Battlefront II beta, then chances are you’ve given the Galactic Assault mode for a spin. Now for those who didn’t, Galactic Assault is a multi-objective mode that showcases everything the multiplayer has to offer: there are Heroes, vehicles and more.

While the mode itself was fun, a lot of people (including yours truly) feel matches are over way before they should be. There are multiple instances that you finally have enough Battlepoints to play as a cool Hero, but you find out it’s already over.

Over on Reddit, users shared the same sentiment — that Galactic Assault matches are too short — and DICE has confirmed the studio is looking into it! DICE developer Peter Vesti had this to say:

For those who can’t see the Reddit embed, it reads:

We hear this feedback a lot and I agree GA shouldn’t be super short games. We are currently discussing it internally as well. Once we look at data we can make a better decision etc 🙂

There’s no word if and when this change will take place. Will it be part of a day one update? Maybe, maybe not, but at least it’s being discussed, right?

Are Galactic Assault matches too short for you? Just right? Would you want it to be longer?

Report: Call of Duty: WWII Orders and Contracts Bug Fix Found

While Sledgehammer Games just rolled out a patch for Call of Duty: WWII earlier today, it didn’t fix everything wrong with the game. One of the nagging issues players are still dealing with are the bugs when it comes to the Orders and Contracts.

Multiple gamers on the Call of Duty: WWII subreddit and on various gaming forums have mentioned how some Contracts cannot be redeemed, and if you Prestiged, the tutorial missions are bugged that you can’t finish it.

Well, it seems someone found a fix for the COD: WWII Contracts bug! Reddit user iArc-Z posted a solution on Reddit, which other users have confirmed to work! Best thing of all is, it’s super easy.

After a game when you can see the scoreboard and your points gained in this round, you can alsobsee (sic) your contracrs (sic) and orders when you tap R1.. My contracts were shown there now and I could claim my rewards.. Now the tutorial quest is also done.. Give it a try and tell me if it does work to you

Sorry for my broken english, I’m from germany 🙂

Multiple Reddit users have confirmed that it does indeed work, which should be a godsend for those who got hit with the bug once they’ve Prestiged, or just the game acting up.

If you’re suffering through the same bugs, test the solution above and let us know if it works or not.

Sony Offering Free PS Plus 1-Month Extensions for “Natural Disasters”

Here’s s your good news for the day: it seems Sony is sending out emails with free PlayStation Plus membership extensions for those affected by natural disasters. This was brought to our attention by ResetEra forum member Yasuke, who relayed the message he got via email.

Hi *my PSN ID*,

We recognize many members of the PlayStation community have been affected by recent natural disasters. We have extended your current PlayStation™Plus membership by 1-Month.

Sincerely,
PlayStation Team

Yasuke mentions that he’s located in Houston where hurricane Harvey rampaged through and left devastation in his wake. Other users have chimed in and have corroborated that they, too, have gotten a free PS Plus membership extension.

Not a bad move by Sony, no? You can thank Sony by partaking in its currently-running PSN EU sale, and this week’s NA sale that features Warner Bros. titles.

Call of Duty: WWII vs. Destiny 2 – Headquarters vs. The Farm/Tower

This time on Pixel Enemy, it’s a showdown of the social spaces, as Call of Duty: WWII‘s Headquarters goes up against Destiny 2‘s Farm and Tower.

Click “play” on the video above to give it a watch, and be sure to leave any thoughts of your own in the comments below.

This is Mack, for Pixel Enemy, here with a battle between two shooters, Activision’s brothers in arms, Call of Duty: WWII and Destiny 2. In this video, we’ll be looking at each game’s social spaces — i.e. the places where players go to take a break from all the shootbang action, and relax with some recreational activities, or to just turn in challenges and get more loot.

Let’s start with the new CoD on the block and its Headquarters social area. Players will mostly be using this place to talk with Major Howard and get new challenges. The Quartermaster is also there dealing out Contracts and sorting Collections, as well as the Mail post where you collect “Pay” and new items.

A key element of the new Headquarters is to make Supply Drops more special and a public event. You can watch fellow players open drops and celebrate or commiserate using emotes. If one of your peers gets a rare drop, you’ll be granted some XP just for watching…
