PUBG Xbox Update Expands Squad Mode, Offers Players More Options

A new PUBG Xbox update has been deployed. It’s intended to “allow [players] to enjoy Squad mode in all the ways possible.”

Players are now able to play Squad mode as a one, two, or three-man squad, without the game matchmaking to fill up the empty slots.

The update was announced on Twitter:

If the embedded tweet isn’t viewable, please find the text copied and pasted below:

Xbox players, we will be deploying a patch at 3AM PST / 12PM CET to allow you to enjoy Squad mode in all the ways possible.

You will now be able to play Squad mode as a 1, 2, or 3-man squad without having to matchmake with other players.

I’m more of a Solo and Duo player myself, but I’m sure those who play Squads will love this update.

In other PUBG news, the Xbox One “Game Preview” version entered the UK sales charts at #4, Minkonet is providing the tech behind the new 3D replay and killcam features, and a map selection option is coming to the game at some point after launch.

Rumor: Destiny 2 Second Expansion to Be Called” God of Mars,” More Details Allegedly Leaked

While we just got the first Destiny 2 expansion, Curse of Osiris, earlier this month, hardcore Destiny 2 fans are no doubt already looking forward to the Destiny 2 second expansion (or known as Destiny 2 DLC 2 for those who call ’em that).

Over on Reddit, user “GodsofMarsLeak” posted what he said were screengrabs of the Destiny 2 next expansion leak on the Japanese PlayStation Store. It supposedly will be called “God of Mars,” and be out in May 2018 (more on this release date below).

Check out the purported screengrabs below.

Here’s what the translated text is said to have mentioned:

NOTE: Frames and Nanites seem to be a part of the same faction, not 2 different races as implied. So we’re getting 1 new enemy faction to combat.

Destiny 2 Expansion II: Gods of Mars sends your Guardian out to Mar’s Clovis Grove, a brand new destination that is host to an array of brand new missions and adventures. Work alongside the elusive Ana Bray in order to prevent Charlemagne, Matrix of Corruption from amassing an army of SIVA-enhanced weaponized frames before Mars is lost.

Features:

-Explore Mars’ Clovis Grove and uncover ‘Charlemagne’s Vault’ underneath the frozen wastes

-New story missions and adventures

-New themed weapons, armor, and gear to uncover

-New cooperative activities

-New competitive multiplayer arenas

-New Frame & Nanite Enemy Faction

-And more…

Presently, the purported JP PS Store listing has been taken down along with the images.

The leaker posted what he claims are screengrabs from the US PSN Store as well, which you can read below.

Note that in this English version, it mentions the release date as available in March 2018. Here’s what the images above state, just in case they didn’t load for you

Destiny 2 Expansion II: Gods of Mars sends your Guardian on a long journey to a brand new destination – the Frigid Vale of Mars, with an array of new missions, adventures, and enemies to fight. Charlemagne has reawoken on Mars and has imprisoned Rasputin within an ancient vault. Work with the elusive Ana Bray – long thought to be dead, in order to combat Charlemagne’s Remnants, free Rasputin, and uncover the secrets of Clovis Bray.

Features:

  • Explore the Frigid Vale, a new destination that conceals the mysterious Clovis Grove and Charlemagne’s Vault beneath its surface
  • New story missions and adventures
  • New themed weapons, armor, and gear to earn
  • New cooperative activities
  • New competitive multiplayer arenas
  • New enemy faction & bosses

In the Reddit post by GodsofMars, he mentions that both listings have been deleted but he “managed” to grab screenshots.

Sourced directly from the U.S. and Japanese PSN stores. They’ve been deleted as of now. Release date is March 2018.

[UPDATE] – The American PSN store just uploaded and deleted the English version of the page. Original Japanese version was apparently deleted due to an employee translation error. I managed to snag a screenshot, and note that there are new plot elements added to the premise. The Japanese version was possibly a preliminary upload or a placeholder, but on the bright side, the DLC is actually possibly being released in March.

Now, before anyone starts believing any of these info as the real deal, a lot of people have jumped in on Reddit and said that they highly suspect the validity of this leak given the way the Japanese was written (it seemed like it was written in English, and then translated via Google Translate).

Check out some of the Reddit posts that are calling this out as fake.

The Japanese used in this leak is literally Google translated and doesn’t read as proper written Japanese. It also doesn’t match the Japanese syntax used on any other games on PSN or in the descriptions of Destiny 2/CoO. ):

I want to believe this leak is real, and I do think “Gods of Mars” is accurate (if anyone remembers the “Comet” [Taken King], “Vex Void” and “Forge of Gods” leak), but I’m not sure if the rest of the description is.

I’m not sure whether it’s purposeful obfuscation on the leaker’s part or an issue on Bungie’s end, but I don’t know if Bungie would be THAT lazy that they used Google Translate to write the description of the DLC… Although, one could argue it’s a generic “lorem ipsum” style template because it looks like it was accidentally set as public, to begin with.

It’s the same OP for both leaks, after he got called out for the blatant Japanese fake he magically acquired screenshots from the English PlayStation store, and posted them on r/raidsecrets of all places….

You can read more about the alleged leak right here, while this Reddit thread talks about why it’s highly likely a fake.

For our part, we’ve emailed Activision to seek a statement on this and will update the post if and when we get a response. That said, don’t be surprised if this is a fake, since there’s a ton of things suspect about it so far. Stranger things have happened though, so if it’s true, well, you saw it here first.

Tag this one as a rumor for now, but even if it is, it’s fun reading for the holidays.

World Health Organization Wants “Gaming Disorder” to Be Considered a Form of Addiction

Do you think video games are addictive? I mean, really addictive to the point that you might need medical help? Regardless of what you think, the World Health Organization (WHO), wants “gaming disorder” to be classified as an addictive behavior.

In a beta draft of the WHO’s International Classification of Diseases for 2018, it lists gaming disorder as part of “disorders due to addictive behaviors” and has the following description:

Description

Disorders due to addictive behaviours are recognizable and clinically significant syndromes associated with distress or interference with personal functions that develop as a result of repetitive rewarding behaviours other than the use of dependence-producing substances. Disorders due to addictive behaviors include gambling disorder and gaming disorder, which may involve both online and offline behaviour.

For those worrying, this draft isn’t final, and hasn’t been approved by the WHO. They are considering it, but we’re still a ways off from it becoming official.

Do you think there should be a medical case for actual gaming disorders? Do you know anyone who are addicted to video games (like, really addicted)? Share your thoughts on this below in the comments.

Gran Turismo 6 Online Shutdown of Servers Dated

With Gran Turismo Sport being a bona fide success, it seems Polyphony Digital will be focusing on that for the foreseeable future, and that means other games will be taking a hit. One such game being affected is Gran Turismo 6, which will have its online servers shutdown early 2018.

How early? According to Polyphony Digital, the Gran Turismo 6 online shutdown date will be on January 31, 2018! Yep, that means you have just one month to play the PlayStation 3 racing game.

Once the servers are shut down, players won’t be able to check online features such as the Community, Open Lobby, Quick Match, and of course, Seasonal Events. Whatever offline component will still be playable of course.

Check out Polyphon’s message regarding in-game credits, how to re-download Credits and more.

Warning Regarding In-Game Credits

If you have deleted your game data after purchasing credits from the GT Store, please make sure to install/redeem the credits again before the end of the online service to have them available in-game. The installation/redemption of credits can be done in-game from [My Home] -> [GT Store] -> [Purchased Content]. It will no longer be possible to install/redeem credits after the end of the online service.

How to re-download Credits when your game data has been deleted

Even if you accidently delete your game data after the end of the online service, it will still be possible to re-download and re-install the credits. To re-download them, go to the [Download List] in the PlayStation®Store, or go to [PSN] -> [Account Management] -> [Purchase History] -> [Download List] from the PlayStation®3 XMB (Cross Media Bar).

Regarding the “Track Path Editor”

With the end of the online services, the distribution of the “GT6 Track Path Editor”, currently available on “Google Play” and the “App Store”, will also end as of 28 March 2018. After the end of the online services, it will no longer be possible to transfer track data created with the “GT6 Track Path Editor” to “Gran Turismo 6”.

In case you skimmed through it, Polyphony has mentioned that the Track Path Editor out on Google Play and iOS’s App Store will be pulled on March 28, 2018. Once the online service ends, players won’t be able to transfer track data to GT6.

For reference, Gran Turismo 6 was released back in 2013, so that means it had close to five years of online functionality. It might not be ideal for those still playing it, but whenever these things happen, it’s usually due to dwindling player bases that make the upkeep not worth it for the handful that are still playing.

PUBG Bans Exceed 1.5 Million, BattlEye Reports

The “anti-cheat gold standard” BattlEye is reporting that PUBG bans now exceed over 1.5 million. That’s over 800,000 accounts banned since November 14.

The latest figures were provided via the BattlEye (@TheBattlEye) Twitter account:

What is driving so many players to cheat? In a game like PUBG, where the satisfaction comes from getting better and growing as a player, cheating seems like it would be boring and ruin the magic.

But, what do I know? Clearly there’s some fun to be had when cheating in PUBG, otherwise 1.5 million(!!!) accounts wouldn’t have risked it.

What do you make of these figures? A bit insane, right? Let me know.

In other PUBG news, the Xbox One “Game Preview” version entered the UK sales charts at #4, Minkonet is providing the tech behind the new 3D replay and killcam features, and a map selection option is coming to the game at some point after launch.

Star Citizen Update 3.0.0 Is Live, Increases Player Count, Adds Three Crusader Moons & More

A new Star Citizen update is now available for all backers to download and install. Patch 3.0.0 is huge and includes the “three moons of Crusader, a new mission system, improved shopping and cargo mechanics, and increased [the] server player count from twenty-four to fifty players.”

There’s lots more to the update, and I encourage you to dive deep into the patch notes below:

NEW FEATURES

Three Crusader Moons

Cellin

Cellin is Crusader’s closest satellite. Visitors to the moon are greeted by the massive gas giant sitting prominently in the sky above. If you can take your eyes off the sky, then you’ll notice that Cellin’s flat surface is punctuated by dormant volcanoes.

Daymar

With the thickest atmosphere of the three moons, Daymar is covered with winding canyons and rugged mountain ranges, giving it the appearance of an arid, desert planet. Though Crusader has been granting mining licenses to tap into the moon’s resources, the atmosphere is unbreathable for Humans.

Yela

The third and final Crusader moon is Yela, the moon’s covered in ice crust on certain sections of the moon, while other parts are dominated by a typical mixture of soil and snow. The temperatures are quite bracing here, so plan to bring a thermos of tea or a nip of something stronger to help stay warm.

Levski

The home of the People’s Alliance, this new landing zone was founded in an abandoned mining facility as an egalitarian alternative to the UEE.

Surface Outposts

Over two dozen planetside outposts that can be visited. These buildings cover a variety of operations (both legal and illegal) and can serve as drop-off and pick-up points for missions.

Derelict Ships

Crashed or abandoned ships within the Stanton system as points of exploration.

Mission Givers

Ruto

This criminal hacker provides the players with missions and introduce the first iteration of the reputation system.

Miles Eckhart

The head of a private security company, Eckhart provides the players with missions and introduce the first iteration of the reputation system.

Mission System

Around 20 distinct missions, most with lawful and unlawful variants and all with hundreds of random permutations. These missions can be picked up from the Mission Givers or from the Contract Manager App.

Derelict Ships

Multiple ship wrecks on planets and in space. Some may contain cargo that can be scavenged and sold.

Random Encounters

10+ encounters which the player can come across through travel or by Quantum Travel Interdiction.

The area you are within will dictate the types of encounter you can come across

Admin Officer AI (mission related)

Admin officers will appear at larger landing zones such as Port Olisar and Levski to act as pick up or drop off points for mission related items.

Shopkeeper AI

Adding the shopkeeper AI to give environments more life.

Pickup & Carry objects

As we’re introducing cargo with 3.0.0, players will be able to manually interact with their cargo to load and unload it properly on their ships.

AI Turrets

We are adding the ability for AI to operate turrets in Crusader, so we are working to make sure that they track and fire upon the correct targets.

Interaction/PIT

We’ve added an interaction mode system which enables you to interact directly with the world around you. This will act as a shortcut way to select actions with your mouse, to avoid remembering complex control binds.

Stamina System

We are introducing the concept of stamina in to 3.0.0, this will mean that physical actions will have consequences. For instance, sprinting will drain the stamina of your character, causing loss of breath and difficulty in aiming a weapon.

Item 2.0 Ships

We are converting our available ships over to the item 2.0 system. This will allow for greater player control of the ship and expanded gameplay.
Multi-Function Displays (MFD) are being implemented in the new item 2.0 system to give pilots even more control of their ships.

ATC System

The Air Traffic Control system assigns landing pads to players once permission has been requested. The system also tracks the stored location of player-owned ships and allows for cargo to be delivered to a ship parked in that landing zone.

Item 2.0 Doors & Airlocks

We are starting to update the doors and airlocks within the game to be more intelligent. In time, this would mean that the door would ‘know’ if a room beyond them is depressurized and would stay shut for safety.

Cockpit Experience Improvements

Multiple changes that affect how the player moves and reacts in the cockpit as well as the overall feeling for the player while flying (interactions, reacting to hits, etc.)

Shopping

Commodity buying/selling.

Physical item shops.

Render to Texture

This will have many uses going forwards, but our focus for now is to improve UI rendering and to introduce live rendering of video communications. We’re aiming to improve rendering performance by rendering as much of the UI ahead of a frame. For video communications, this will mean that we don’t have to pre-render the comms and store those files on the hard drive, as is the case with most games, allowing us to maintain fidelity and save hard drive space.

Cargo

Players can purchase commodities from the kiosk that will be transportable in the cargo holds of vehicles, to be sold in another location.

Implementing items to represent units of tradeable cargo.

Planetary Tech

The Physics Grid for planets and the modular space stations.

Planetary Rotation

Planets and moons now rotate to give a day/night cycle.

mobiGlas Visual Update

Redesigned the interface and apps.

mobiGlas Apps

Contract Manager: This is a redesign of the mission App that is currently available within mobiGlas and is the next step in allowing players more control over their mission tracking.

Personal Manager: This App will allow players to review their inventory and customize various aspects of their suit and weapons.

Vehicle Manager: This mobiGlas app allows the Player to modify/customize their ships directly rather than using the upright terminals.

StarMap: The Starmap will be introduced to allow players to view the Persistent Universe at large and select planets to quantum travel to.

Starmap on Ship Radar

Incorporating the Starmap into ships with 3D radar so players don’t have to open the mobiGlas app when piloting to select their travel destinations. Remaining ships will be added later.

Updated Visor HUD

Updating the Own and Target ship displays for both the visor and MFD in the Item2.0 ships. With this enabled in ships, pilots will be able to see the health of their ship and shields

Atmospheric Flight

With 3.0.0 players will have the chance to land on celestial bodies, which, in some cases, will involve passing through the atmosphere.

A modified set of physics parameters to change the flight pattern of ships when they transition into a moon’s atmosphere.

Engine Trails/Contrails

VFX improvements for engine trails, and the creation of contrails for ships when flown in atmosphere

Gravlev (for hover bikes)

This tech covers the transitions from flight to hovering and hovering to flight, but also lets the hoverbikes (Dragonfly and Nox) traverse the planetary surfaces.

Second Stage Afterburner

Adding afterburner functionality to allow you to traverse from space to ground faster.

Hint System

A first iteration of in-game hints to help new players acclimate to the various complex gameplay mechanics in Star Citizen.

EMP Weapon update

Updates to the EMP weapon functionality to properly affect ships now the item 2.0 conversion has taken place.

Entity Owner Manager

The Entity Owner Manager tracks entities that are moved around the universe, making sure we spawn and despawn them at the correct time.

Physics Serialisation

This will fix a few long-standing threading issues between then network and physics code. Improves separation of physics and netcode for better maintainability.

New Message Queue

Now that all our messages are strictly ordered, we’ve streamlined the processing, allowing us to send and receive messages with less overhead. The new message queue also has a few extra features to better handle packet loss and jitter, helping reduce average bandwidth and latency.

Mission System

The overall system that will be used to create mission flows for missions like Patrol, Assassination, Smuggling, etc.

Persistence of Ship Damage, Ammo, & Missiles

Persistence ensures that your vehicle state is saved between sessions.

Ship Insurance & Claim

This will be an alpha version of the insurance system where if your current ship becomes damaged beyond repair, you will be able to request a replacement ship (with basic loadout) from the insurance provider.

Planetary Navigation Marker Generation

A dynamically generated set of Quantum Travel points around planets and moons to enable for quicker and easier traversal around them.

Persistent Spawning & Reconnecting

First pass at persistence which allows us to save the state and location of the player and ships between game sessions.

Fortnite Boogie Bomb Nerf Being Considered by Epic Games

Following its recent implementation into the game, Fortnite‘s “Boogie Bomb” grenade has already been causing frustration for a lot of players. The Boogie Bomb causes enemies to start dancing, unable to fire their weapon. Hilarious to use, but not so funny to get hit by.

Epic Games has heard the complaints from the community and is considering nerfing the Boogie Bomb. The developer has a short-term plan ready for action — decreasing the bomb’s duration to five seconds — but long-term solutions are still being debated.

Here’s what the developer has come up with thus far:

Moving forward we have a few ideas to address the core issue: the person being attacked by a Boogie Bomb needs an opportunity to respond. There are a number of suggestions we’ll be evaluating, including (but not limited to):

– Remove the instant explosion, making it bounce and detonate like a normal grenade

– Have it create a ‘dance zone’, where the effect goes away if you leave the area

– Disable the dance effect when taking damage

– Allow players to build while dancing

What do you think of the Boogie Bomb? Does it need tweaking?

PUBG Update Lands on PC & Xbox One, Here’s the Patch Notes

Both PC and Xbox One versions of PUBG have received updates. The PC patch is the more substantial of the two, bringing some big changes and fixes, while the Xbox patch mostly helps avoid crashing and in-game lag.

Here’s the full list of patch notes and developer comments for PC and Xbox One:

PC

World

Changed the map selection ratio to be equal for Erangel and Miramar.

Replays

Adjusted replay system so that players can only view game replays from 3 minutes after death.

This is to prevent sharing opponent’s positions to surviving teammates immediately after death.

Bug Fixes

Fixed the issue where some buildings and objects were not marked on the Miramar world map.

Reduced occurrences of the issue where replays occasionally crashed back to the lobby screen.

On restarting a replay, it will continue where last viewed.

Fixed the issue where the beginning of the Death Cam and replay was missing.

Fixed the issue where players couldn’t earn BP.

We will update with a compensation plan soon.

Fixed the issue where players could die unexpectedly from fall damage.

Fixed the issue where bullets couldn’t penetrate particular fences from both sides.

Xbox One

Quick update; we’ve released a server side patch this evening that addresses one of the lower frequency crashes as well as reduces intermittent in-game lag.

In addition we’ve made progress on the authentication issue that many players have encountered and we hope to completely resolve that issue soon.

Are you playing PUBG? If so, what is your platform of choice, PC or Xbox One? Let us know.

In other PUBG news, the Xbox One “Game Preview” version entered the UK sales charts at #4, Minkonet is providing the tech behind the new 3D replay and killcam features, and a map selection option is coming to the game at some point after launch.

DMCA Exemption Status for Abandoned Online Games Requested by Multiple Organizations

Multiple organizations (including individual gamers) are requesting the U.S. copyright office to update the DMCA’s (Digital Millenium Copyright Act) anti-circumvention provisions to include games that are DRM (Digital Rights Management) protected and or need a server to function during the public commenting stage taking place.

The Museum of Art and Digital Entertainment (MADE) wrote to the copyright office stating that to preserve games like Minecraft into the next century exemptions to the DMCA should be made to continue the preservation of video games.

During the last update to the DMCA provisions, the copyright office made it legal for museum and archivers to preserve online games that function over Local Area Network (LAN).

These exemptions, as MADE has stated, are not enough because a vast majority of online games no longer support LAN, and are required to connect to servers.

This proposal naturally extends the Current Exemption to address technological change. Preservation of networked multiplayer games was contemplated by the Current Exemption, which allows for preservation of multiplayer games that may be played through a local-area network. At the time, the Register of Copyrights noted that “continued access and use of video games, including multiplayer play, is still possible using locally connected devices.” Today, however, local multiplayer options are increasingly rare, and many games no longer support LAN- connected multiplayer capability. Instead, “[y]ou can’t really find games that offer LAN modes, since [nearly] every multiplayer game on the market … requires a constant connection to the home servers.” This means that “even if you get together in the same room to play, you need to loop in [the game’s] servers and matchmaking services…” In other words, even if game clients are connected to the same local network, they will still need to connect to external servers to function. More troubling still to archivists, many video games rely on server connectivity to function in single-player mode and become unplayable when servers shut down. “Some games require a connection to an external server—sometimes on an ongoing basis—for all types of play, including single-player play.”

Although the Current Exemption does not cover it, preservation of online video games is now critical.

MADE was not the only organization to comment on the preservation of online games. A digital rights group public knowledge submitted a comment highlighting how many games need servers to operate, pointing to Electronic Arts’ shutdown of many game’s servers in 2013.

It is difficult to quantify the number of multiplayer servers that have been shut down in recent years. However, Electronic Arts’ ‘Online Services Shutdown’ list is one illustrative example. The list — which is littered with popular franchises such as FIFA World Cup, Nascar, and The Sims — currently stands at 319 games and servers discontinued since 2013, or just over one game per week since 2012.

You can read about the provisions and comments by heading to the Regulations website, where you can also comment and express your desire for preservation before comments close on February 12, 2018.

While the Nintendo Switch Online paid service has reportedly been pushed back to 2018, it seems a delay has hit something more important. According to the Wall Street Journal, Nintendo has delayed the Nintendo Switch cartridges that offer higher capacity to 2019!

For reference, current Nintendo Switch cartridges can only offer developers 32GB of space to do their magic. Nintendo has planned to offer a substantially bigger 64GB space for game developers.

Per the Wall Street Journal’s sources, technical issues are the main culprit for the cartridge delay, which means Nintendo Switch games will have to limit themselves to just 32GB compared to 50GB available to both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One Blu-ray discs.

Bear in mind, though, this is just a rumor for now, so there is a chance the higher capacity cartridges will make their way out in 2018. Once we hear back from Nintendo, or if the Big N announces something, we’ll be sure to let our readers know.

Is this a major hurdle for the Nintendo Switch for you? Or are 32GB cartridges good enough for console’s games?

Man Accidentally Kills Himself While Playing a VR Game

Here’s something you don’t hear everyday: it seems a 44-year old Russian man has accidentally killed himself while playing a VR (Virtual Reality) video game. Apparently, the unnamed man, died falling through a glass table while using a VR headset.

Here’s what Yulia Ivanova, Senior Assistant to the Head of the Russian Investigative Committee had to say:

According to preliminary information, while moving around the apartment in virtual reality glasses, the man tripped and crashed into a glass table, suffered wounds and died on the spot from a loss of blood.

Further reporting by Russian news site Lenta.ru states that the man was playing a Star Wars VR game when he fell. and hit the glass table that caused his demise. According to the medical examiner’s report, the man continued playing the game even after his accident, instead of, y’know, seeking help or medical aid.

Let’s hope this isn’t the start of a trend where people are too engrossed playing a video game to seek medical attention when absolutely needed, and bouts of carelessness for the sake of gaming. We don’t need this kind of controversy, right?

New The Elder Scrolls Online DLC to Drop in 2018

The Elder Scrolls Online is being expanded upon even more in 2018 with three new DLCs and quality of life improvements for characters and your homestead.

The first DLC is titled Dragon Bones, and is “Nord-based in theme, with each of the two dungeons expanding upon the lore of that region.” Following Dragon Bones is an update that will include polish for the MMORPG, and include “at least one long-awaited feature that everyone who cares about their characters’ appearance will love,” which players can learn about more when the update launches on the PTS early 2018.

As for the other two DLCs, Bethesda is seemingly tight-lipped, but hints that players will be able to explore “some highly-request areas next year.”

Dead Dozen Gameplay Offers a Taste Of “Die as a Human, Rise as a Ghoul” Shooter Goodness

Developer Fntastic has released pre-alpha Dead Dozen gameplay, which shows how the “Die as a Human, Rise as a Ghoul” gameplay mechanic works.

DEAD DOZEN is a Multiplayer Action Horror Game where you turn into a ghoul after your death as a human. Loot, barricade and cooperate when you play as a Survivor or infiltrate, infect and eat your former human friends when you play as a Ghoul.

Take a look at the gameplay below, to see action from both the Survivor and the Ghoul:

https://youtu.be/dt4bgr57emA

PLAYING AS A SURVIVOR

Every Survivor who died or was infected in combat becomes a Ghoul.

Victory conditions: Kill all Ghouls, bringing to zero the counter of their respawns, or hold out until the end of the game round timer.

No matter what, try to stay alive: Collect weapons, ammo and items to confront beastly enemies.

Use your brain while you still have it: Barricade doors and passages, move objects to construct obstacles and prevent Ghouls from getting closer.

Empower yourself: Access special items and utilize them to your advantage in combat.

PLAYING AS A GHOUL

Each perished Ghoul respawns again, reducing the total number of respawns.

Victory conditions: Kill or infect all Survivors.

Accept your next incarnation: Infect and spread the panic among survivors.

Find new ways to achieve new goals: Destroy brittle walls and break the doors on your way.

Get the best from being undead: Gain the Blood Lust and apply the special abilities you have acquired.

Do you like the look of Dead Dozen? Do remember that this is a pre-alpha build, and may look a little funky and/or barebones.

Destiny Music of the Spheres Leaks Online, Composer Encourages Fans to Listen

While Destiny 2 is currently all the rage, with more and more players diving into Bungie’s blockbuster sequel, I’d like to drag things back to the original game, and it’s music… Or, at least, the music that could have been.

Music of the Stars is an eight-part composition created by ex-Bungie composer Marty O’Donnell, Michael Salvatori, and Paul McCartney. It was intended to be released alongside the game, but never saw the light of day. That is, until now!

Copies of Music of the Stars have popped up on both SoundCloud and YouTube. (At time of writing, both links are working. However, I’d expect Activision to issue takedowns sooner, rather than later.)

Marty O’Donnell supports the leaks, as evidenced by this series of tweets:

Have you had a chance to listen to Music of the Stars?

In other Destiny 2 news, the game’s official forums has been swamped with “Remove Eververse” threads, upcoming Iron Banner and Faction Rally armor is available to preview, and Bungie has detailed future updates including better non-Eververse loot.

CS:GO Battle Royale Available to Play Through Custom Game Mode

With rumors pointing towards a possible battle royale mode for CS:GO, many gamers have been expressing their excitement at playing the hardcore shooter in PUBG-esque fashion. Though there’s no official confirmation that “Survival” will be coming to CS:GO, the mere notion of such a game mode has people hyped and ready to fight to the death.

Thankfully, CS:GO players don’t have to wait around with their fingers crossed, as there’s already a battle royale experience ready to play.

“Go4TheKill” is a custom mode developed by Kinsi which melds the world of CS:GO with PUBG. Players parachute into the world and fight to be the last man standing.

Here’s Kinsi’s breakdown of the mod and what players can expect:

Battle Royale in CS:GO Done Properly

With Go4TK my aim was to combine two games that I like: King of the Kill and CS:GO. It was mainly meant to be a challenge for myself to push the boundaries of whats possible with server-side only CS:GO modding. From the ground up I’ve carefully handcrafted everything, be it the map in itself or the plugin allowing for the actual gameplay to ensure the best possible integration.

Big

Thought de_overpass was big? Think again. The entirety of Overpass can easily fit inside Go4TK’s world… in just one of its 4 areas.

I’ve made use of a simple trick to increase the usable horizontal space on the map. While this does impact the game negatively ever so slightly, it pays off with a map about three to four times as big as Source would’ve allowed for otherwise, as well was helping with performance / optimization.

Performance

Even though the map is big, the performance in the most demanding locations is up par with the average performance of newer official maps because it was built with Performance in mind. Apart from the Environment and Foilage used for cover there is very little “unnecessary” detail in the map to allow for the best possible performance. If that is not enough for your system, dont worry. You can toggle your render distance from normal to low ingame, which will negatively impact you with less vision and visual artifacts, but should reward you with a performance boost.

Seamless

Go4TK features a seamlessly integrated inventory and map UI to allow for the best experience and ease of use, as well as many more features like autorun, freelook, binoculars and many more.

Fancy giving it a go? If so, click here to begin the fight!
