Call of Duty: WWII Carentan Free for Everyone for a Limited Time, Double XP Event Kicking Off Wednesday

While COD Points was just implemented in Call of Duty: WWII today, it didn’t come with a game update as some people was expecting it to. Fortunately, Sledgehammer Games has posted a recent game status update on its official site announcing when we can expect the new patch and more.

First off, to mark Thanksgiving, there’s going to be a COD: WWII double XP event happening that starts this Wednesday at 10 a.m. PST and will run util November 27, Monday.

There’s going to be community events and more happening which you can read about below.

Winter Carentan Map – Our first Seasonal Community Event for Call of Duty: WWII titled “Winter Siege” starts 10am PST on Friday, December 8, and will run until early January. There’s a ton packed into this special event, but one thing that we’re particularly excited about is Winter Carentan. One of the most beloved maps in Call of Duty history is now set in the cold and snowy winter of 1944 and will be free to all players for a limited time during the event and will be added to all MP game modes. Be sure to check out Domination and Hardpoint, they’re two of our studio favorites for Winter Carentan. We can’t wait to play online with you. Also, we have weekly Winter Siege rewards for players that join us throughout the event, and we’ll have more to share in the coming weeks.

Ranked Play – Ranked Play Season 1 launches on console on Friday, December 1. Battle your way through the tiers to earn rewards based on your Season 1 ranking for the ultimate in competitive bragging rights!

Headquarters – Our goal from day one has been for everyone to experience HQ as a fully populated space where you can socialize, compete, show off, and earn rewards. We have been testing HQ in a variety of regions, and continue to drive towards that goal for everyone globally. Be sure to come back to HQ for your daily login bonus and new challenges, and just maybe some winter spirit.

Game Updates – Next week, we’ll have a game update that contains many important changes including map exploit fixes, UI improvements, fixes to issues with Party, connectivity optimizations, and more. Listening to fans and looking at global match data, we adjusted the BAR (increased recoil), reduced the flinch-reduction in the Primed Basic Training, fixed the “snaking” exploit while crouching and proning repeatedly, and fixed an important bug with the smoke grenade. We are currently play testing a reduced flinch over all weapon primaries, and will look to update once we verify the balance across all weapons remains. Stay tuned for more exciting news on changes coming, including new game modes launching during our Winter Siege event.

Once the patch drops, we’ll be sure to let everyone know. In other COD: WWII news, don’t expect the Domination score per kill to change anytime soon, and here’s why. Also, if you’re complaining about bad spawns in the game, then you might want to read this since Sledgehammer says bad spawn rates are at a “franchise-setting low.”

Star Wars Battlefront II: Hawaii State Representative Calls Press Briefing, Calls Game an “Online Casino”

Much has been said already regarding EA’s predatory way of handling Star Wars Battlefront II’s progression system and microtransaction elements, and it’s almost always not good. While EA did cave in and took away all microtransactions in the game, albeit temporarily, it might be too little too late given how gamers, and even branches of governments from different countries have already tagged started investigating the game due to its rather “unique” approach to gameplay design and its glaring similarities to online gambling luck putting both players and problem gamblers at risk.

Aside from earning the ire of games worldwide, the Battlefront II pay-to-win microtransaction fiasco has even caught the attention of governments too! Not only is Belgium taking a look to see if Battlefront II’s loot crate system is a type of gambling, but even Hawaii is getting in on it as well.

Hawaii Representative Chris Lee recently held a press conference where he talked about “future protections for kids, youth, and everyone” when it comes to the predatory practices of online gaming,” and as one can assume, he was referring to EA’s Star Wars Battlefront II. In the press briefing, Lee called Star Wars Battlefront II a “Star Wars-themed online casino designed to lure kids into spending money.”

Check out the rest of his speech in the transcript below.

We are here today to ensure future protections for kids, youth and everyone when it comes to the spread of predatory practices in online gaming and the significant financial consequences it can have on families, and has been having on families around this nation. This game is a Star Wars-themed online casino designed to lure kids into spending money; it’s a trap.

This is something that we need to address to ensure that kids who are underage, who are not psychologically and emotionally mature enough, to be able to gamble, which is why gambling is prohibited under 21 are protected from being trapped in these cycles which have compelled many folks to spend thousands of dollars in gaming fees online.

Lee confirmed that they are talking with other states about this and that legislators are looking into it, so kids won’t have access to these type of business practices in games at all.

We are looking at legislation this coming year which could prohibit access or prohibit the sale of these games to folks who are underage in order to protect families, as well as prohibiting different kinds of mechanisms in those games. We’ve been with several states as well as legislators there who are looking at the same thing. I think this is appropriate time to make sure that these issues are addressed before this becomes the new norm for every game.

You can watch the video above, which also includes reports and impressions from different sectors that weigh in negatively on the predatory business practices EA seemingly wanted to introduce in Battlefront II.

Based on the social media backlash, and the reports like this coming to light, this most likely won’t be the last time we hear of this issue being brought up. Let’s hope this stops EA or any other video game publisher from implementing predatory business practices in games, and just focus on making a quality product without trying to squeeze as much money as possible from consumers.

Do you agree with Representative Lee? Or are things being blown out of proportion? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

PSA: Don’t Plug Your Xbox One X Into a Surge Protector

It’s possible that you’ve stumbled onto this page because you’ve plugged your Xbox One X into a surge protector and it won’t turn on. First, don’t worry, it’s not broken, it just simply isn’t drawing enough power from the socket.

The thing is, the Xbox One X (and Xbox One S) already has a surge protector built into its power supply. Adding another surge protector to the circuit isn’t going to double the protection, it’s actually going to hinder things.

Here’s the official advice straight from Xbox Support:

Because the console has a built-in surge protector, you should not connect it to an external surge protector. If you connect the console to another surge protector, the console cannot reach the full power that is needed for optimal performance.

So there you go! You don’t have to use a surge protector with the Xbox One X (and S), because it already has one!

Splatoon 2 Next Update Will Be Huge, Brings New Stages, Gear & More

My word, the next Splatoon 2 update is looking to be a big one! Nintendo is promising “huge holiday updates,” with two big content drops hitting the game during November 23-24 and mid-December.

Nintendo released a trailer showcasing the upcoming content:

Check out major updates coming to Splatoon 2! The first free update hits Nov. 23 and adds a new stage for Salmon Run, new gear and new hairstyle options for Inklings, as well as many other features, with additional new battle stages rolling out beginning Nov. 24. The second free update will be available mid-December and introduces a frantic new Ranked Battle mode called Clam Blitz!

Here’s everything that’s coming this month and the next:

Nov. 23 Update

Four New Battle Stages: While four new battle stages are coming to Splatoon 2, they won’t all be available immediately after downloading the update. Like with previous additions, the stages will roll out over the subsequent weeks, giving players new surprises as they play throughout the holiday season and beyond. The first new battle stage, MakoMart, will be available to play on Black Friday, Nov. 24, with Shellendorf Institute, Walleye Warehouse and Arowana Mall coming soon. The new MakoMart stage is a giant superstore-style stage, so what better time to play than on Black Friday! Shellendorf Institute is new to the series, while Walleye Warehouse and Arowana Mall are popular stages returning from the original Splatoongame.

New Salmon Run Stage: Fan-favorite multiplayer mode* Salmon Run is getting a new stage. After downloading the update, Salmonid Smokeyard will be added to the stage rotation. In Salmonid Smokeyard, a wide gap on the beach divides two upper platforms, with fan lifts being the quickest way to traverse the two platforms. Teamwork is required to use the fan lifts effectively.

New Gear: Approximately 140 pieces of gear are being added to Splatoon 2. These include shoes, headgear and clothes, like a motocross mask, and additional winter clothing (perfect for the cold weather!), as well as returning items from the original Splatoon game.

New Battle Music: Two new bands have been gaining popularity in Inkopolis! The punk-flavored Bottom Feeders and classically trained avant-garde-style Ink Theory are contributing new songs to the already music-rich game.

New Hairstyle: When customizing an Inkling, four new hairstyles will be available to choose from – two each for female and male characters.

Higher Level Caps: Currently, players are maxed out at Level 50. After downloading the update, the new maximum level will be raised to 99. If players talk to Judd when they reach Level 99, they’ll have the option to reset their level display to Level ★1 so they can continue raising their level.

New amiibo Functionality: Tapping a compatible amiibo figure after the update will let players take and share in-game photos in preset locations in Battle Stages, in addition to being able to take photos in Inkopolis Square. Players can also add fun filters to their images.

Convenient Gear Swapping: Players that want to change gear between battles in Regular Battle, Ranked Battle and Splatfest Battle (Solo) won’t have to exit to the lobby anymore! After downloading the update, gear can be swapped out without leaving the match room, making it quicker to get back to splatting. For Regular Battle, this also means players can play the next battle with the same players.

Mid-December Update

Clam Blitz: In Clam Blitz, competing Inklings are tasked with collecting clams scattered around the stage. After one is picked up, the clam follows the player. The objective is to throw the clam into the basket near the opponent’s base. The first team to score 100 points wins! But, of course, this being the fiercely competitive world of Splatoon 2, things are not as easy as they seem. The baskets are protected by a barrier, which much be destroyed first. After collecting 10 clams, the player will earn a Power Clam. These super-powered clams are the key to breaking the barrier, so strategy will definitely be involved in which clams are used to destroy the barrier and which are used to earn points. Not to mention the extra-satisfying opportunity to steal opponents’ clams by splatting them…

That is a whole lot of content coming to Splatoon 2!

In other updates news, a new Dead by Daylight update is out which tweaks Bloodweb and the Mystery Box spawns, a new patch for The Forest targets multiplayer bugs, and PTR players can preview the upcoming Overwatch patch.

Madden NFL 18 Update Tweaks Controls, “Perfect Kicks” Mechanic & More

Madden NFL 18s latest patch adds “logic” on all game styles to stop kick blocks occurring on “Perfect Kicks,” improves tackling ball carriers during broken tackle animations, several stability fixes, and more.

For the full list of Madden NFL 18 updates, see below:

Gameplay

– Added logic on all game styles so kick blocks no longer occur on “Perfect Kicks” – to get a perfect kick, Kick Power must be at 100% and the Accuracy Meter must be stopped within the kicker’s accuracy window, and perfect text appears on screen when you get 100% Kick Power and there will be a blue flicker that will trigger on the kicker’s player icon after the kick that indicates you met the “Perfect” criteria

– Removed Pump Fake functionality from Right Stick so users don’t accidently execute a Pump Fake when trying to throw the ball away – users can still Pump Fake while in the pocket by clicking Left Stick

– Adjusted some logic around the QB Contain assignment:

– Tuning to QB Contain so that wider slot corners will not become Contain players when rushing

– Added functionality to pass blocking to better handle target switching for QB Contain defenders

– Cut block fixes that reduce both cut block attempts and defensive hurdles over blockers in Competitive Game Style

– Addressed an animation issue that was resulting in pass blockers being hurdled too frequently by defenders

– Addressed an issue where defenders didn’t react to scramblers on fake kick plays when in a non-kick block type defense

– Addressed some instances where TE’s would sometimes freeze at the snap in the Singleback Deuce Close formation

– Addressed clock issues with Overtime periods

– Addressed an issue where the QB would turn around backwardsto throw when using the Target Passing mechanic

– Addressed issues around defensive users intentionally tripping receivers in Competitive Game Style

– Addressed issue where offensive linemen would occasionally drop back deeper than the QB on play-action passing plays

– Addressed an issue with the Toss animation on the Weak I Flex HB Toss Wk play in the Run ‘n Gun playbook

– Addressed a rare issue where possession would be given to the incorrect team when kicking an onside kick out of bounds

– Addressed a ball spotting issue around blocked punts going out of the back of the end zone

– Addressed ball-spotting issues around turnovers that have been challenged or booth-reviewed

– Added additional thresholds for QB Accuracy on Competitive Game style so that short, medium, and deep passes each have separate thresholds, with short pass having the lowest threshold to achieve accurate passes

– Tuned to improve the play of AI-controlled QB’s, specifically around scrambling and recognizing pressure

– Tuned to improve tackling ball-carriers during broken tackle animations

– Tuned to decrease defensive coverage ‘break-on-ball’ reactions in All-Madden Simulation Game style

– Tuned to decrease block shedding in run blocking in All-Madden Simulation Game Style

– Tuned to decrease” nearby player penalty” for defensive players attempting to catch interceptions

Franchise

– Made stability fixes

– Fixed an issue that removed the VICIS helmets from offline CFM

– Fixed multiple issues with depth chart logic with injured players

– Improved stability in the Weekly Training drills in Franchise mode

MUT

– Set Repeatable Limits – We can now set the amount of times you can complete a set

– Set Timers – Timer displays on the Set that will tell you how much longer it will be available

– Improved the look and feel of chemistry in the lineup screen and back of items

Misc

The team is aware of an issue in Franchise mode where users may experience lag during play call on PS4. We want our PS4 franchise players to know this issue is a top priority for our team, and we will do our best to get the issue resolved as soon as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your continued patience. Plus:

– General Stability Fixes

– Added Patriots white color rush pants

World of Tanks Update Brings New Tanks to CT, New General Battle Map & More

World of Tank‘s testing for update 9.21 is due to start. This update brings a new general map, several new heavy tanks and more.

Find the full details below:

New map for general battles

Judging by the comments, our community liked the “General Battle” mode with the participation of 30 players on each side. We want to develop success, so meet the new Klondike map in Alaska. When WG created it, the feedback on Nebelburg was taken into account. Now everything, as you like:

– The battle takes place in the vast expanses of 1400 by 1400 meters, but the number of positions being shot is less

– Multiple shelters allow you to hide from the omnipresent eye of the art.

Alternative branch of French heavy tanks

In the regiment of the French arrived. Alternative branch of heavy tanks is presented AMX 65 t 8-th level, AMX M4 mle. 51 9th level, and as the “top” is AMX M4 mle. 54. To get this machines you need to start at level 7 through AMX M4 mle. 45. The new French do not have the usual drum, but there are a strong armor and two top-cannons at once.

This greatly changes the game: to keep at a respectful distance from the enemy is not necessary, you can fight with it. Powerful cannon allows you to fight the enemy face to face.

Rebalance of British tank destroyers

In update 9.21, it is planned to make the British tank destroyers from 6th to 9th level a little more armored. A better armor will receive AT 8, AT 7, AT 15, and Tortoise. But AT 2 armor in front, in the sides and the stern will be thinner: statistics showed that the car was too strong for its level. Now opponents who fall into one battle with it will be able to more confidently punch it into the sides and stern – the frontal part, though it became thinner, but still very thick at its level.

It is important to remember that these changes are not final: the armor tank destroyers is now at the testing stage. By the release of update 9.21 some indicators may change.

Now all the tanks are in HD

In conclusion, the question for the most attentive and experienced tankmen. For a long time with each patch we are adding to the “World of tanks” HD-model. For today there was only one tank, which is available for players to changes in HD, and we have not yet had time to changes it into a new format.

Will you be taking part in this common test? Let us know in the comments.

PSA: Call of Duty: WWII COD Points Now Live

As we’ve previously reported, Call of Duty: WWII COD Points are now live in the game after its initial delay! Those who pre-ordered the game should get their “free” 1,000 COD Points in the game’s mail section.

Once you’ve redeemed the COD Points, you can then go to the Quartermaster where you can get (for one-time only) a “Starter Bundle” that nets you three Rare Supply Drops, and 20 minutes of bonus Soldier XP and Division XP!

I already redeemed and opened mine, and I managed to get an epic shotgun, and an epic MP-40. You can also get a Rare Zombie Supply Drop if you’re more of a Zombies mode player. As for the COD Points, you can buy directly from the Quartermaster too! Clicking the icon will lead you to the COD Points packages page that looks like the one below.

So for $2 you’ll be able to get one Rare Supply Drop, five for the next one with an extra 199 COD Points bonus and so on.

It’s currently not know if all the weapons listed in the Supply Drop weapons list we posted will be included for now, but once we do get one, we’ll let you know.

In other COD: WWII news, go check out this week’s set of Orders. Or in the gameplay front, Michael Condrey, Sledgehammer Games boss has mentioned why Domination kills only count for 50 points each, and how the bad spawn rate is at a franchise-setting low in COD: WWII.

Will you be buying COD Points to snag some of those Epic Calling Cards, weapon variants and more?

Battlefield 1 Turning Tides Release Date Confirmed & Content Detailed

The Battlefield 1 Turning Tides release date has been officially announced via press release. Premium Pass owners will be able to access the expansion on December 11. Those without the Premium Pass will get to play two weeks later, as usual. This matches the date we reported on three days ago.

Turning Tides content will be released in two waves, with the first batch of content coming in December, and the second half of content coming in January. Read on for the official details!

Battlefield 1 Turning Tides will be released in two waves – the first coming on December 11 for Battlefield 1 Premium Pass owners. This content drop will let you fight across a duo of epic maps: Cape Helles and Achi Baba. In a new Operation set on these maps, you can take part in the 1915 British amphibious assault of the Gallipoli peninsula. 6 weapons and 2 melee weapons will be added to your arsenal, and you’ll get to rule the waves with the L-Class Destroyer. There’s more coming after your December battles – you’ll be tackling the North Sea in January.

Coming January 2018, the second wave deploys you into the North Sea to tackle two other unique maps: Zeebrugge and Heligoland Blight. You’ll also get to charge into battle with the new Royal Marines and spawn on the C-Class Airship to deliver death from above.

Battlefield 1 Turning Tides is stocked to the brim with other new content: the Conquest Assault game mode, Service Assignments, Specializations, Dog Tags, Service Stars, Medals, Ribbons, and more.

If you haven’t yet played any of Battlefield 1‘s expansions, you may want to take part in the They Shall Not Pass (November 22 – December 4) and In the Name of the Tsar (December 8 – December 10) free trials.

EA has also announced that the Frontlines mode will be coming to Suez on November 27. Also, the “Fall of Empires” Operation Campaign will be made available to all players between November 22 and December 6.

Fall of Empires combines two Operations: Conquer Hell and Iron Walls. These are in turn inspired by two 1918 events: the battle of Vittorio Veneto and the Meuse-Argonne offensive on the Western Front.

Dead by Daylight Update Buffs Bloodweb, Tweaks Mystery Box Spawns & More

Dead by Daylight‘s latest patch, 1.8.2, has been released, buffs Bloodweb and tweaks the spawn rate for Mystery Boxes. Mystery Boxes previously spawned at every level; they now spawn at levels 3 and 5, and then every 5 levels after.

In addition to this, Behaviour Interactive removed the Halloween themed lobby and menu music.

Find the full list of patch notes below:

FEATURES & CONTENT

– Content – Removed the Halloween themed lobby and menu music

– Feature – Improved the speed of Bloodweb animations to make the Bloodweb more responsive and easier to use

– Feature – Removed pop-up when purchasing an element of the Bloodweb, except when showing the content of a Mystery Box

BALANCE

– Adjusted the rate at which the Mystery Boxes can spawn in the Bloodweb. Previously the Mystery Boxes spawned at every level, now it will spawn at levels 3, 5, then every 5 levels.

– Adjusted the speed curve while channeling The Nightmare’s ability: He now moves at 95% speed for the duration of channeling. The movement penalty applied when continually casting the Nightmare’s ability was quite intense, we have added a slight reduction to the Nightmare’s movement speed when using his ability continually.

– Changed the overall balancing of the Bloodweb to have a better repartition of items and rarities. We wanted to make the progression in the Bloodweb more rewarding and satisfying when reaching the higher levels

– Changed the prices of all Bloodweb elements to be based on Rarity instead of position. Price based on position created variance and inconsistency in the value of the rewards. We want players to be able to make choices on what to invest in based on consistent rules.

– Fixed the interaction & attack block during The Nightmare’s power success animation. 0.5 seconds after successfully casting his ability the Nightmare can now attack or interact.

– Raised the Rarity of Bloody Party Streamers to Rare (previously Common). Bloody Party Streamers used to be Common for the event they were part of, but leaving them as part of the normal game required to raise their Rarity to appropriately reflect their impact.

– Removed Tiers 2 and 3 of all Daily Rituals and reworked the values to reach for Tiers 1. We want the Daily Ritual to be short, easy to achieve objectives that you can complete every day.

– Removed the possibility for all Moonlight Offerings to spawn in the Bloodweb. The usage of these Offerings could have a lot of impact on the lighting of each map. We needed more control over the exact lighting we decide to set in each map in order to ensure a good experience, and these offerings were making this harder.

– Removed the possibility for the “Will O’ Wisp” flashlight and “All Hallows’ Eve Lunchbox” medkit items to spawn in chests and in the Bloodweb

– Several changes to to the Rarity of Add-Ons and Offerings :

– Add-Ons:

– Odd Bulb and Anti-Hemmoragic Syringe are now Ultra Rare (previously Very Rare)

– Styptic Agent and Sapphire Lens are now Very Rare (previously Rare).
Offerings:

– Murky Reagent is now Very Rare (previously Rare). Based on the new pricing rules of the Bloodweb, we felt that these items values were superior to what their Rarity suggested.

– The add-ons Garden Rake, Prototype Claws and Paint Thinner now reduce the speed penalty during the 3 second slowdown after The Nightmare triggers the dream transition on a survivor. Prior to this update, these aforementioned add-ons were reducing the speed penalty while you continually casted. Now these add-ons will strictly be reducing the slowdown after successfully putting a survivor to sleep.

BUG FIXING

– Adjusted the description for the “Risk It All” achievement

– Adjusted the text for the Camping Aid medkit to have a considerable healing speed instead of moderately

– Fixed a couple of typos in the Cannibals torso customization descriptions in English

– Fixed an issue that caused an impassable gap between 2 rock assets when spawned too close together in Coldwind Farm

– Fixed an issue that caused an impassable gap between 2 rock assets when spawned too close together in Mother’s Dwelling

– Fixed an issue that caused the Huntress’ camera to behave improperly when slashing a suvrivor

– Fixed an issue that caused the generator explosion and lights to appear when failing / completing an indoor generator in Lampkin Lane or Badham Preschool

– Fixed an issue that caused the polygons on Nea’s tank tops to stretch when viewing a character at a distance

– Fixed an issue that could cause Ultra Rare items in the Bloodweb to spawn too frequently

– Fixed an issue that could cause only 1 exit gate to spawn in Azarov’s Resting place map

– Fixed an issue that could cause survivors to get stuck inside the hill asset when healing

– Fixed an issue that made it impossible for the Nurse to blink near the ambulance and cross road in Badham Preschool

– Fixed an issue that made it impossible to unlock the “Risk It All” achievement if the ultra rare item/add-on was lost or consumed

– Fixed an issue where killers were not fully blinded by a flashlight inside the houses in Lampkin Lane

– Fixed an issue where the Nightmare claws played out of sync with the audio from a clients perspective

– Fixed an issue with the Nurse’s Sally of the Lantern head customization VFX that caused her eyes to reappear before her body when blinking
– Fixed an issue with the textures on the Shape and the Nurse in the front end and in game

– Tentatively fixed an issue that could occasionally cause no outdoor hooks to spawn in the MacMillan Estate maps. Due to the nature of this issue, it was difficult to reproduce and we will be tracking the status of the issue after this patch to confirm.

– Tweaked the flashlight blinding effects on the Nightmare. Was causing slight VFX corruption

PSA: The Division 1.8 Exotics Can Be Found in 1.7 Caches

Confirmed via a tweet by @ClancyElites, which was then retweeted by the official The Division Twitter account, it looks like stockpiling Exotic Caches until the release of update 1.8 is a very good idea!

Exotic Caches earned during play in 1.7 will still have a chance to drop 1.8 Exotics, once the patch is live.

We’d recommending holding onto your Exotic Caches, waiting until the 1.8 patch is live, and then opening them all up. You’ll then have a greater chance at grabbing one of the four new Exotic weapons!

As mentioned before, this tweet was retweeted by the official Twitter account, so it’s worth paying attention to. Resist the temptation to open your caches early, and you’ll likely be rewarded!

In other news, it seems that Call of Duty: WWII Supply Drops will soon contain weaponsRainbow Six Siege White Noise Operators have been revealed, and Borderlands developer Gearbox was sent a vicious death threat.
