Activision Is Selling a Single Dot in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 for $1

With players in online games willing to pay for in-game items that will make them stand out from the pack in terms of visual customzation, it’s no wonder that Activision earns over $4 billion a year in microtransactions alone.

There’s a new in-game purchase available for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, and it’s both funny and amazing at the same time! Activision has rolled out a new batch of in-game items that players can purchase in the Black Market, and one of the things for sale is a dot for $1! Nope, I’m not joking. It’s a single dot that can be used as a reticle for the Reflex gun sight. Check out the screengrab of the “Open Dot”

You see that lone single dot on the left-hand side of the image? Yep, that’s the item for sale. It’s funny that Activision is even selling this dot, and it’s even more amazing that (we presume) some people are buying it!

It’s currently priced at 50 COD Points ($.50 cents) given there’s a limited 50 percent sale happening right now until the first day of 2019. Otherwise, it’s a flat 100 COD Points ($1) to acquire this dot.

Are you surprised at this or not at all? More importantly, do you think people will actually pay money for a single dot? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.

World War Z Devs Wanted the Game to Mirror Left 4 Dead Since There’s No New L4D Coming Anytime Soon

For those who prefer co-op multiplayer rather than competitive, one of the best experiences for this kind of gameplay in the first-person shooter genre was Valve’s Left 4 Dead. While we did get Left 4 Dead 2, Valve has been silent whether we’ll ever see a new entry into the zombie-killing franchise.

Thankfully, there’s something coming up that might scratch your Left 4 Dead itch, and it’s none other than Saber Interactive’s World War Z. If the title of the game sounds familiar, it should, as it’s based on the 2013 movie starring Brad Pitt. In an interview with VentureBeat, Saber Interactive CEO Matt Karch talks a bit about the skepticism of license-based games, and states that the studio members are huge fans of L4D, and that they’re trying to create a game that “mirrored the experience.”

The flip side, though, is there is the skepticism about licenses. And I agree that there’s probably also a skepticism about zombie games. But this is a different type of zombie game. In the novel they don’t even call them zombies. They call them Zs. They’re obviously zombies, but they move differently and act differently than in almost every other game. It’s its own thing.

We’re huge fans of Left 4 Dead, and I think that comes across in some of our videos. We wanted to create an experience which mirrored that experience, or maybe the best way to put it — that was inspired by that. We didn’t see any more Left 4 Deads in the pipeline. We thought this was an opportunity to create an experience we loved that would kind of be an evolution of that. – Matt Karch, CEO of Saber Interactive

Based on what we’ve seen of World War Z so far, Saber Interactive seems to be on the right track. Check out the character abilities blowout in this trailer.

World War Z is set for release sometime in 2019 for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Anthem Demo Info: Activities an Demo Max Rank Revealed, No Demo Progress Carryover

With January just a few days away, there’s one thing gamers should look forward to next month, and it’s the Anthem demo! While we already know that the demo will have players start at level 10, BioWare has shared a few more details regarding Anthem demo info on missions, demo progress and more.

Over on Twitter, Lead Producer Mike Gamble revealed that in the Anthem demo, players will be able to try some of the game’s missions, a Stronghold, some Tarsis navigation, and some freeplay. Gamble also revealed that no demo progress will carryover to the final version of the game, which is understandable.

In a separate tweet, Gamble revealed that the Anthem demo max rank is set at level 15, which means players will have five levels to play around in the demo. As for the final game, the max rank is currently set at level 30, though BioWare has shared that they’re most likely going to increase it over time.

In other Anthem news, go check out the sample objectives list players can do in a Stronghold mission to see how varied it is.

Serious Sam Collection PS4 and Xbox One Edition Rated by ESRB

Remember Serious Sam? The first-person shooter that had you going up against aliens? If you didn’t, you might be getting a chance to check the series out in its entirety soon! The Entertainment Software Ratings Board (or more commonly known as the ESRB) has a listing for a Serious Sam Collection PS4 and Xbox One edition!

Here’s the ESRB description of the Serious Sam Collection:

This is a collection of first-person shooters in which players battle aliens and monsters in frenetic combat. Players use pistols, machine guns, shotguns, and sledgehammers to kill numerous creatures. Large blood-splatter effects occur during combat. Enemies are sometimes shown blowing themselves up into bursts of limbs and blood. Players are also able to rip the eyes out of creatures’ heads and/or rip the hearts out of soldier-like aliens. During the course of the game, harpy-like enemies are depicted topless (though usually from a distance). One character briefly references drugs in the dialogue (e.g., “I’m supposed to be doin’ blow off a stripper’s a*s right now.”). The words “f**k” and “sh*t” appear in dialogue.

For reference, a Serious Sam Collection was released back in 2013 for the PS3 and Xbox 360, and it included: Serious Sam: The First Encounter, Serious Sam: The Second Encounter, Serious Sam 3: BFE, and Serious Sam: Double D XXL.

In case you’re curious, the franchise is known for its single-player campaign, but it does have multiplayer.

The Serious Sam Collection for PS4 and Xbox One hasn’t formally been announced just yet, but once we do, we’ll make sure our readers know about it.

Asia PS Plus Free Games January 2019 List Revealed, and Is Arguably Better Than in US

Just yesterday, Sony announced the list of games coming to PlayStation Plus in North America, which is highlighted by the two “big” games, Portal Knights, and Steep.

If you’re wondering what the people in Asia are getting, it’s (arguably)  a tad better — especially if you’re a multiplayer fan. The Asia PS Plus free games January 2019 games are Ubisoft’s The Division, and Steep (also from Ubisoft). With The Division 2 set to have a beta early next year, and the game’s release set for March, it’s the perfect time for Ubisoft to introduce new players to the shared world action game.

The full list of Asia PS Plus free games January 2019 list include:

  • The Division (PS4)
  • Steep (PS4)
  • PlayStation Plus Exclusive Toro Winter Dynamic Theme
  • PMN Final Fantasy Sound Selection

The items mentioned above will be available this coming January 10, and will last until February 6, 2019.

Do you think the Asia PS Plus free games for January are better compared to what the US is getting? Let us know what you think down below in the comments.

Developer Jade Raymond Confirms She Was Working on New Splinter Cell Game Concept Before Leaving Ubisoft

Like her or not, Jade Raymond is one of the most public figures when it comes to game development, which is, of course, mostly due to her looks than anything else. While Raymond is not with Ubisoft anymore, she did let out a nugget that confirms that a new Splinter Cell game is at the very least, being thought about at the publisher.

In an interview with GameReactor (via Comicbook), Raymond mentions that there was a “design” that they worked on regarding a new Splinter Cell game.

“The last Splinter Cell (Blacklist, released in 2013) is the last one that shipped, so…” she said. “You know what? There is a design that we actually had and worked on and would have wanted to make, but since I am not at Ubisoft anymore I can’t talk about it and I don’t know who wants to share that concept.”

We haven’t heard about anything Splinter Cell-related from Ubisoft in a long while, unless you count Sam Fisher voice actor Michael Ironside being bought back to reprise his role in a crossover event for Ghost Recon Wildlands with the Splinter Cell franchise.

As for Raymond, she has currently left EA Motive having last worked on Star Wars Battlefront II.

Will we see Sam Fisher in 2019? I sure hope so given it’s been more than five years since we last saw a proper entry in the series.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Blackout Xbox One Crash Finally Acknowledged by Activision, Investigation On-Going

If you’re an Xbox One owner, and you’re a fan of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, your holidays might not have been as festive given that there’s a Black Ops 4 Blackout Xbox One crash that’s yet to be fixed.

Checking the Black Ops 4 subreddit, multiple threads per day are popping up about this big issue that prevents Xbox One players from playing Blackout. While Treyarch has remained silent on the matter so far, publisher Activision has at least acknowledged the issue! Over on Twitter, the official Activision Support account has been bombarded by gamers asking what’s up, and we finally got an official (at least from an official account) statement that the issue is know!

The official Activision Support Twitter has also asked for the Gamer Tag, Region, and other details from those tweeting displeasure at the situation.

Looting in Blackout, which has been an issue since over a month ago, has also been addressed, though with nothing more than an acknowledgement as well.

While there’s no official fix yet, we did post a temporary fix that did work for some. Go read about that here.

In other Black Ops 4 news, don’t forget that a double XP weekend is set to hit the game this weekend! Once it’s live, we’ll be sure to let our readers know.

Anthem Mission Variety Sample Listed in Latest Stronghold Gameplay

Possibly one of the main concerns of gamers when it comes to shared world action games (like Destiny and The Division) is how some missions and objectives feel a tad too similar to each other. In the first Destiny game, most missions boiled down to guard something while your Ghost companion hacked or scanned an area, which didn’t sit well with some people.

It seems that might not be an issue with BioWare’s Anthem, as the Anthem mission variety seems to be in order even this early on. In the last BioWare livestream of the year, the studio showed off a Stronghold mission (think: Destiny’s Strikes), which involved the player doing different things. Over on the Anthem subreddit, user Anthem_Universe listed down the goals the group of players tackling the Stronghold had to do.

General theme in between goals was: Explore the Scar Nest and Locate Scelos

  • Goal 1: Infiltrate the Scar Nest and Locate Scelos (general).
  • Goal 2a: Secure the Nest’s Entrance
    • Destroy 3 Turrets
    • Defeat the Scar
  • Goal 2b: Secure the Nest’s Entrance
    • Destroy 6 Alarms
    • Defeat the Scar
  • Goal 3: Defeat Gatekeeper
    • Mike used Ultimate here
    • Gatekeeper appears to be a buffed Elite Scar Enforcer
  • Goal 4: Restore Power to the Generator
    • Gather 3 Fuel Cells and place them
    • Get the thing…and…put it…in the thing
    • You cannot fly whilst carrying objects
    • Observation: Fall Damage is currently disabled
  • Goal 5 : Destroy the Gate
    • Pick up and plant 5 Explosives
    • Defeat the Scar
  • Goal 6 : Survive the Ambush
    • Defeat the Scars
  • Goal 7: Follow the Sewer Path
    • There’s. Acid. Everywhere. Just ask Mike.
  • Goal 8 : Destroy the Turrets
    • Destroy 4 Turrets
  • Goal 9 : Explore the Scar Nest
    • Nope! Not today kids! 😉

As you can see, there are still “destroy X amount of stuff in order to progress” objectives, but it’s broken up by gathering, fighting waves, and more.

Go check out the gameplay video below to see the Anthem mission variety for yourself.

In other Anthem news, we now know that the in-game currency is called “Coins” thanks to the latest livestream. BioWare has also confirmed that the max rank currently set is at level 30, though the studio thinks this will be hiked up at some point.

What do you think of Anthem’s objectives within a mission so far? Do you think BioWare has enough ingenuity so each Stronghold mission doesn’t feel stale?

Buying Battlefield V Standalone Game + Deluxe Edition Upgrade Is Cheaper Than Buying It Bundled

With the holidays already here, it also means that people are in a more generous mood than usual. If you’re planning on picking up Battlefield V on PS4, you might want to consider NOT getting the Battlefield V Deluxe Edition, but instead opt to buy the base game and Deluxe Edition upgrade separately!

Don’t believe me? Here are screenshots I took just now on PSN (NA)!

Battlefield V (standalone game):

Battlefield V Deluxe Edition upgrade:

It’s $29.99 for the standalone game, plus $5.99 for the Deluxe Edition upgrade, which brings the total to $36. Now if you buy the Battlefield V Deluxe Edition bundle, it’s worth more!

It’s roughly $40 for the Battlefield V Deluxe Edition, which means you save $4 if you it separately! Boggles the mind, right? For those curious, here’s what’s included in the Deluxe Edition (via Battlefield):

Battlefield V Deluxe Edition*

For players that want to enter Battlefield V early and with more outfits, customization items, and Special Assignments, there is the Battlefield V Deluxe Edition. A pre-order gets you the above, plus:

  • Early Access to Battlefield V Base Game: Be among the first to dictate the fight and play the Battlefield V base game.
  • Five Sets of Paratrooper Outfits: Choose five Special Soldier Sets from the eight available when deploying as the British Special Air Service or German Airborne troops.
  • Special Assignments: Get rolling with Assignments inspired by the British Special Air Service’s true-to-life raids on German air bases, and ones based on the defense of airfields on the North African coastline by the German Fallschirmjäger troops, as well as Starter Assignments providing more ways to test your skills on the battlefield and earn rewards.
  • 20 Weekly Items with Airlift: Receive vital supplies with 20 weekly Airlifts, each containing one customization item.

Obviously, the Early Access thing isn’t applicable anymore, though the other items are. If you don’t care about those in-game items, then there’s an even better deal for the game on PSN! You can buy both Battlefield V and Battlefield 1 combined at a cheaper price than the Battlefield V Deluxe Edition! Called the “Battlefield World War Bundle,” it costs $34.99 for the two games bundled together!

Sniper Elite V2 Remastered Spotted on Australian Ratings Board

Are you a fan of the Sniper Elite franchise? If you are, you’re in for some good news. It seems Rebellion is making a Sniper Elite V2 remastered for presumably the PS4 and Xbox One.

A new listing has been spotted on the Australian Classifications Board (via Reddit) of a “Sniper Elite V2 Remastered,” which is listed for multi-platform, and filed under the category of “Computer Games.” Both Rebellion and publisher 505 Games are also part of the filing. Here’s a screengrab of the filing:

For those not familiar with Sniper Elite V2, it’s a third-person action game released in 2012 for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. Taking place during the Battle of Berlin in April to May 1945 (though with a different/alternative retelling of the events), Sniper Elite V2 emphasized stealth over straight-on action. It also featured multiplayer, which focused on co-op rather than competitive skirmishes.

We’ve reached out to Rebellion and will update the post if and when we get a response.

Are you looking forward to a Sniper Elite V2 Remastered?

GT Sport Free Content Now Has Reached 103 Free Cars, and More Than 30 Tracks Since Launch

Who says that all game studios and publishers are just after everyone’s money? While that might be the case for most, there are still a few publishers and developers who aren’t that chintzy when it comes to giving gamers free stuff. One such game is Gran Turismo Sport.

In a new report by Gran Turismo fansite GTPlanet, it states that since launch, the GT Sport free content has now totaled 103 free cars, and 32 free tracks! Nope, that’s not a typo. Bear in mind though, GT Sport launched with only 168 cars, and 39 tracks total back in October 2017.

Doing the math with the racing title’s updates, GTPlanet mentions that on average, GT Sport gains 7.9 cars and 2.5 track layouts with each significant game update. This translates to roughly one new car every three days, and one new circuit variation every 12 days, which isn’t bad.

If you factor in all the content updates for GT Sport, the title roughly gets eight cars and between 2-3 track layouts every 28 days! Yeah, that’s definitely nothing to scoff at, no?

Make sure to read the entire report since it dives deep into the track variations, car manufacturers, DLC ration and lots more!

DICE Issues Christmas Message to Battlefield V Community and the “Christmas Noobs”

It’s the holidays! This means that a lot of people are home playing games! This also means that a lot of people got Battlefield V as presents! With that said, DICE has posted a Christmas message to the Battlefield V community, and the “Christmas noobs.”

Here’s what Community Manager “PartWelsh” had to say:

Merry Christmas r/BattlefieldV 💚🎄
byu/PartWelsh inBattlefieldV

Enjoy yourselves, whatever you’re doing and wherever you’re spending it.

Invite the Christmas Noobs into your Party Chats and Discords, teach them the ways of Specialisations, link them to your favourite content creators, and always, always build Snögubbe.

Merry Christmas from everyone at DICE and EA!

Those not familiar with the term “Christmas noobs,” it’s what gamers call the people who get the game for Christmas (as presents) and log in for the first time (hence why they’re called “noobs”). They’re usually seen as fodder for the first few times they play, though that’s not always the case.

In other Battlefield V news, DICE has mentioned that the January update for the game’s first draft is already close to 10 pages long! We also reported that the game’s microtransactions will take effect this January 18, which you can read about here.

Have fun playing, Battlefield gamers! And remember: let the Christmas noobs win once in a while, alright?

GTA Online Holiday Event Announced: New Bomb Ball Arena War Mode and Free Gifts

Rockstar is joining in on the holiday fun! In a press release, Rockstar Games has announced the GTA Online holiday event called the Festive Surprise 2018!

There’s a new mode, free gifts and other stuff for GTA Online players which can be experienced today!

Bomb Ball Mode:

Let’s face it: although you can get behind the naked aggression and anarchic mob-rule, you’ve never truly understood the rules of soccer. Well, new Arena War Mode Bomb Ball gets rid of all those fussy technicalities and restrictions on violence, and boils things down to the real heart of the matter: shoving enormous explosive devices into the other team’s half before they go off. Welcome to the beautiful game.

Now part of the Arena War Series, play anytime between now and January 14th and receive Double GTA$ & RP.

Vapid Clique Free Gift:

With festive decorations adorning Arena Workshops, Nightclubs and other properties across the city, and the rare Southern San Andreas snowfall phenomenon blanketing the streets, please enjoy these Christmas Day treats compliments of Legendary Motorsport and Alan Jerome Productions.

Grotti & Weeny T-Shirts Free Gift:

Play anytime between now and January 7th to receive the Grotti & Weeny T-Shirts free of charge.

Grotti Itali GTO  Out Tomorrow:

When you think of lightweight redesigns, you probably think of carbon fiber bodywork and stripped-out interiors. But that’s just for beginners. Step inside the Itali GTO, and the air you’re breathing has increased hydrogen content for extra lift. For even more of an edge, consider shaving your body hair and removing at least one kidney, because sometimes you have to suffer for perfection.

The Grotti Itali GTO will be available starting December 26th exclusively from Legendary Motorsport.

Double GTA$ & RP on Arena War Series and Other Modes:

In addition to the Arena War Series continuing to pay out 2X GTA$ & RP, jump into any of the following activities through January 7th to reap double rewards:

  • Client Jobs (Terrorbyte Missions)
  • Biker Contract Missions
  • Gunrunning Sales
  • Special Cargo Sales
  • Smuggler’s Run Cargo Sales

Plus, earn Double GTA$ on Nightclub income and treat your Bodyguards and Associates to a holiday bonus with Double GTA$ Salaries.

Finally, here’s the rest of the GTA Online holiday event calendar, along with the list of discounted items in the game.

In addition to the festively adorned Vapid Clique, play today and also receive a bounty of Christmas Day gifts that includes the Up-n-Atomizer Pistol, Liveries for Chernobog, the Slasher Festive Sweater, and enough throwable explosives to start a large-scale conflict. Then, play every day this week to receive even more holiday gifts:

Now live in : Drop in and slay some festive holiday Zombies for a limited time, and look for the new permanent zombie spawn at the Farm!

If you’re not a fan of Blackout, Treyarch will also be rolling out a double XP for multiplayer and Zombies mode this weekend!

• Festive Zombies in Blackout • New permanent zombie spawn at Farm in Blackout • Map Pack Moshpit continues for Black Ops Pass holders • 2XP + 2X Weapon XP in MP and Zombies + 2X Merits this weekend!

Got that? Good. We’ll post a reminder up once the double XP event is live.

In other Black Ops 4 news, Xbox One owners are not having the best time with the game, as reports have come in that Black Ops 4 on Xbox One keeps crashing. Thankfully, there’s an unofficial workaround which you can read about here.

Go slay some zombies in Blackout, and some Christmas noobs in multiplayer. Just be a bit nice and let them get a kill once and a while, alright?

Actor Jack Black Is Starting His Own Gaming YouTube Channel

Are you a fan of gaming personalities on YouTube? Want to add one more to that subscription list of yours? Well, you might want to add this one, as it’s none other than actor Jack Black (School of Rock, Goosebumps, Nacho Libre)!

You read that right! Actor Jack Black is starting his own gaming YouTube channel! Here’s his announcement video for the Jack Black YouTube channel, “Jablinski Games.”

According to Black, he will cover “games, food, and life,” which should be right up gamers’ alley, right?

Mind, Jack Black isn’t a stranger to games, as he himself starred in one close to a decade ago. Black starred as Eddie Riggs in Brutal Legend, which is a character voiced and modeled after Black (though a more muscular version) that had him, a roadie, go up against supernatural enemies using his guitar as a weapon.

Are you interested in Jack Black’s take on gaming? At the very least, you can count his channel to have some sort of comedic-theme, which should be different than your standard rant videos, right?
