Monster Hunter World Beta Download Is Now Live, Get It Here

In case you need something to play this weekend, Capcom’s Monster Hunter World beta is now live! Set to start today until December 12, 9 a.m. PST, the Monster Hunter World beta download can be initiated here, and it’s around 5.47GB.

If you’re wondering what to expect from this action-adventure online game, here’s some of the important info.

Specifics

  • Start Time: December 9, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. PT / 5:00 p.m. GMT / 6:00 p.m. CET
  • End Time: December 12, 2017 at 8:59 a.m PT / 4:59 p.m. GMT / 5:59 p.m. CET
  • Location: Your gaming room + the Internet
  • Requirements: Internet connection, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Plus subscription, 5.9 GB of free space, hunting spirit

Quests

The beta features three quests across two environments from the game. In the Ancient Forest, you can hunt a fierce yet beginner-friendly Great Jagras or as a more experienced player confront the mighty threat of an Anjanath. In the Wildspire Waste, a massive, dry expanse with swamplands, you can face off against the intermediate level mud-slinging Barroth.

Rewards

In addition to an unquantifiable amount of fun, complete each quest and you’ll get some useful bonus items in the full game! Just make sure you use the same Sony Entertainment Network account for both the beta and the full game.

Additional Notes

Each quest can be done solo or with up to three other players online, and you’ll be able to choose from 14 different weapon types based on your preferred play style, which you can now change during quests at camp. You can even try out each of them before heading out on a quest by visiting the series’ all-new Training Room, included in the beta! Potions and other supplies will be provided on quests during the beta, but you’ll have to fetch your own food and drinks outside the game for those long gameplay sessions.

And one final note – this beta is just a taste for what the quests will look and feel like in the full game. The beta features a game currently in development and some aspects about balance may be different from the full game, but the satisfaction of tracking and bringing down a giant monster you’ll find is all there.

Stay tuned to our Monster Hunter World beta impressions set to go up soon once we get enough time with the beta.

PSA: Destiny 2 Prometheus Lens Sold by Xur, Enjoy It Before the Nerf

In addition to covering Destiny 2 Xur’s inventory in our usual weekly update post, I figured that a separate article was warranted on this very special occasion. You see, Xur is selling the incredibly overpowered Prometheus Lens weapon, which I think players need to experience before the inevitable nerf.

Yes, I know that the Crucible will become a mess for the weekend, but I think it’s important that all Destiny players wield what is a truly overpowered weapon.

Head over to Xur and make the purchase, then dive into the Crucible and see just how much damage this thing kicks out. (Of course, you’ll likely come across others taking advantage of the weapon’s power!)

Here’s a rundown of the Prometheus Lens’ perks, which combine to make for an insane damage output!

Prismatic Inferno

Fires a Solar trace beam and generates a damaging heat field that grows while the weapon continues to fire.

Chambered Compensator

Stable barrel attachment

– Increases stability

– Moderately controls recoil

– Slightly decreases handling speed

Projection Fuse

Distance optimizations.

– Increases range

Flame Refraction

Kills with this weapon return a fraction of the ammo used to the magazine, extending the beam’s duration.

Composite Stock

This weapon has a versatile dual-purpose stock.

– Slightly increases stability

– Slightly increases handling speed

Will you be trying out the Prometheus Lens trace rifle this weekend? Let us know.

In other Destiny 2 news, the game’s future updates were detailed in a “State of the Game” overview, a limited edition loot crate is now available to pre-order, and a Destiny 2 free trial is now available for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

Ghost Recon Wildlands PvP Update Detailed, Coming December 14

Ghost Recon Wildlands was recently transformed from a hardcore PvE adventure, into a hardcore PvE and PvP experience. The PvP Ghost War mode is set to expand on December 14, with the next free major update.

All players will gain access to two new classes, be able to take part in ranked play, test their skills on new maps, wield new weapons, and more.

Here’s everything we know about the December 14 update, so far:

The competitive battlegrounds of Ghost War are expanding on December 14 with the second major free update to Ghost Recon Wildlands’ PVP mode. Two new classes are joining the fight, one of which is the Pathfinder, a stealth-oriented Ghost who brings a fearsome crossbow into the field and cannot be marked by drones. The second class? Well, that remains a mystery for now; tune into the Wildlands live stream on the Ubisoft Twitch channel on December 13 at 9AM PST to find out more.

The Jungle Storm update will also introduce ranked play, which will challenge players and squads to see how they stack up against their Ghost War competition. There will also be new maps coming for Elimination and Uplink modes, new weapons, and new gameplay updates for both PVP and PVE modes.

And here’s the official trailer for the update:

Are you looking forward to seeing the Ghost Recon Wildlands PvP mode expanding? Let us know.

The Game Awards 2017 Best Multiplayer Game Still Unannounced… (Update)

Update:

We now (finally) know the winner of Best Multiplayer… It’s PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds!

Original story:

Personally, I thought that The Game Awards 2017 was a great show which, despite requiring me to be awake from 1.30 a.m. to 5 a.m. GMT, had enough excitement to leave my energy drink supply almost untouched.

Sadly, there seems to be a little hiccup in the award giving, as the Best Multiplayer Game has still not been announced. It’s been 12 hours since The Game Awards 2017 kicked off, and there’s still no mention of it.

Here’s a reminder of the nominees:

Best Multiplayer

Call of Duty: WWII – developed by Sledgehammer Games

Destiny 2 – developed by Bungie

Fortnite – developed by Epic Games

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – developed by Nintendo

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds – developed by PUBG Corporation

Splatoon 2 – developed by Nintendo

It’s pretty crazy that such a significant category went ignored during the event. Obviously, we at MP1st are particularly disappointed, what with our big focus on multiplayer games!

So, until the actual winner is announced, let’s choose our own! Which of the nominees do you think should win Best Multiplayer Game 2017?

In other TGA 2017 news, be sure to get an extended look at the bizarre Death Stranding, take a gander at the new PUBG desert map in the new trailer, and catch up on all of The Game Awards 2017 winners here.

PUBG Miramar Desert Map Now Live on Test Server, Latest Patch Notes Detailed

The PUBG Miramar desert map is now available for players to test on the game’s Test Server. With the game previously only having one map, which many players have sunk hundreds of hours into, I imagine a hell of a lot of gamers will be wanting to check out the new environment.

Here’s the schedule for playing on the Test Server:

Test Schedule

[Phase 1]

PST: December 8th 02:00AM – December 10th 02:00AM

CET: December 8th 11:00AM – December 10th 11:00AM

KST: December 8th 07:00PM – December 11th 07:00PM

[Phase 2]

To be announced soon

Region & Modes

NA – SOLO & DUO & SQUAD, First-person / Third-person

EU – SOLO & DUO & SQUAD, First-person / Third-person

ASIA – SOLO & DUO & SQUAD, First-person / Third-person

In addition to the new map, new patch notes for the latest Test Server build have also been shared.

Here’s everything that’s new and improved:

Lobby

Redesigned the lobby background and UI

Some menu options will stay hidden for this test server due to them still being worked on

World

Added a new map – Miramar. Miramar will be the only map available during phase 1

Miramar supports 2 weather types:

Clear

Sunrise

Miramar builds on and modifies the core Battle Royale experience by providing varied visuals and gameplay:

Vaulting & Climbing action will be even more useful when crossing the Miramar terrain

Players can experience highly tactical battles that will force them to utilize their cover and concealment skills

Choosing the vehicle type is more important than before, as off-road driving is now different from on-road driving experience

Items

Added 3 new weapons. These weapons are Miramar exclusives:

Added R45. R45 will be spawned in world, it uses .45 ammo and 6 bullets can be loaded. Red dot sight can be attached. It has high accuracy and faster reload speed than R1895

Added Win94. Win94 will be spawned in world. It’s a variant of a lever action rifle that uses .45 ammo and 8 bullets can be loaded. It’s for an expert player since it doesn’t take any attachments and is mid-range effective with slow reload speed but high damage

Added Sawed-Off. Sawed-Off will be spawned in world. It uses 12 gauge shot and 2 shells can be loaded. No attachments available. It has short range, high dispersion, lower damage than other shotguns but can fire in rapid succession

Added new Ghillie suit to the care package

R1895 will not spawn in Miramar

Vehicles

Added 3 new vehicles:

Added Van. Van is a six-seat vehicle. It has low maximum speed and driving force but it has the highest HP in the game. Therefore, the Van can be useful in various tactical situations

Added Pickup. Pickup is a four-seat off-road vehicle and designed to be well adjusted for Miramar’s bumpy terrain. Pickup is the most all-around vehicle in the game and suitable for various playstyles

Added Aquarail. Aquarail is a two-seat water vehicle. The player in the passenger seat can user their weapons. It has good cornering and high mobility so you can expect Aquarail to do well in guerrilla tactics.

Motorcycle and Buggy are also available in Miramar. They have different skins compared to their Erangel cousins.

Server Optimization

Reduced the server lag issue of players moving abnormally

Gameplay

Added the ability to heal and boost while in a vehicle (only for the passengers)

Increased damage of Kar98k and M24 and reduced damage of AWM.

Increased overall damage multiplier to Torso for sniper rifles by 10%

Increased the vertical aiming range in prone stance

Improved water penetration particle effects

Adjusted the blur fade-in effect for scopes

UI/UX

Redesigned the color of HP bar

Displayed in yellow when the HP is below 50%

Displayed in red when the HP is below 25%

Displayed in red and blinking when the HP is below 10%

Modified the game font for several regions

Adjusted Russian, Polish, Turkish, Vietnamese for readability

Sound

Improved the sound effect of frag grenade:

The sound changes depending on the distance from the explosion

For example, player can hear only the explosion sound from long distance but within 20m distance, player can hear the explosion sound and the sound of the debris raised by the explosion

Lowered the sound of the edge the blue zone

Animation

The position of the gun in FPP will be lowered depending on the scope or other attachment that is mounted on the firearm

Added the missing firing mode switching animations (and sounds) to UZI

Tweaked the FPP animations and limits to reduce seeing the inside of own character

Moved the camera to correct position in FPP mode for drivers

Position of most of the guns in FPP has been changed to ensure further reduction of clipping with clothing

Transitions between sprinting and running animations are now smoother.

Leaning animations have been improved to ensure consistency between

DS/FPP and TPP

Bug Fixes

Now player can fall (F key) from the airplane while the world map is open

Fixed the issue where most of melee attack animations were not displayed when jumping in place and attacking

Fixed the issue where changing stances while punching (from standing to crouching and vice versa) will not be instant anymore

Fixed the issue where while vaulting in FPP, player could look inside own body

Fixed the unintentionally extreme aim punch when being hit

Improved the animation loops to prevent gun “skipping” while moving crouched in ADS

Fixed the issue where the character movement speeds were inconsistent when using sprint button and travelling in any direction other than forward, forward left and forward right

The reticle on 15x scope will no longer appear blurry when used for the first time

Fixed the issue where a player could lean out of a vehicle even though they should not be able to physically (due to an object blocking the area outside the window)

When scoping and close to the wall, character should no longer be able to see through it

Running with DP-28 should now be slower (same as other LMG and sniper rifles)

Fixed the issue where a player would occasionally be teleported to remote location while vaulting

The launch of this build comes after a short delay, as explained on Twitter:

During The Game Awards 2017, gameplay of the new PUBG desert map, Miramar, was finally unveiled to the world. This is the first time the new map was seen in action, and it’s a huge moment for the millions playing the game. Do note, that this map will be free to all players.

What’s more, players on the Test Server will be able to try out the new map tonight! (We’ll update this post with the exact time, once confirmed!)

Let’s not beat around the bush: the gameplay is just below. Hit play and enjoy!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8iR4kHj9qAY

We are excited beyond words that we can finally share the name of our new desert map and tell you a little bit about some of the places you can visit. When we decided to create a new map, we focused on creating an environment that is very different from Erangel. We wanted to go the opposite direction of having lush fields and forests and arrived at the harsh and unforgiving desert of what we can now reveal is Miramar. The unique terrain and dense urban areas of Miramar will create a new Battle Royale experience where the old strategies may no longer work and new tactics are required.

So there it is. Like what you saw? Excited to see and hear more about Miramar? Let us know in the comments below.

In other PUBG news, the Miramar map’s key locations have been given official descriptions and offer clues as to how gameplay will change, the developer has promised that they will never add microtransactions that affect gameplay, and Xbox players can get exclusive skins to celebrate the game’s console launch.

Nvidia Titan V Graphics Card Announced, Priced at $3000

Nvidia just dropped a surprise bombshell during the NIPS 2017 conference. Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, revealed the $3,000 Nvidia Titan V graphics card.

It’s less about gaming, and more about compute power for artificial intelligence. With that said, it should probably be pretty capable for gaming, too! (I mean, even programmers have got to have downtime, right?)

What do you make of the Nvidia Titan V?

We’ll update this post with more details, as they come in!

TGA 2017: Witchfire Announced, Made by The Vanishing of Ethan Carter Devs

If you liked The Astronauts’ The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, then you’ll be in for a shock, as the studio’s new game is as far off from it as possible. Announced during The Game Awards is “Witchfire” a first-person shooter game that looks gorgeous.

Given the pedigree of the people behind Witchfire (The Astronauts are comprised of devs from People Can Fly and made Bulletstorm and Painkiller), this could very well turn out to be special. No release date or platforms have been revealed, but we’ll report on it once we know more.
