Battlefield 1 – Premium Members Receiving Free Map In June

With the latest Battlefest event now over which brought with it double xp, free battlepacks and most important the latest feature “Premium Friends”. It appears that DICE has one more announcement up their sleeve to end the latest Battlefest in a big way.

As very recently, DICE has revealed that those who are Premium Pass owner can expect to be greeted with a free map come this June.  The new map in question is named Nivelle Nights and from the looks of it appears to strike a close resemblance to one of the levels featured in the single-player campaign and fits the theme of the first expansion “They Shall Not Pass”.

Below you can check out the first image of said map and a short description provided by DICE themselves:

“As darkness falls over the muddy battlefields around Malmaison and Soupir, French and German batteries prepare to yet again support their troops on the contested ground.

The moon, the searchlights, and the artillery lights up the night skies, exposing the vast network of trenches. Bite and hold as your foe will fight for every inch of ground. Strategy and teamwork will overcome those who have neither.”

From the short description and image teaser, it looks like the Battlefield 1 playerbase is getting a few of their wishes coming true with the release of this map. As it looks like the Nivelle Nights map will feature both trench warfare and will be set during the night.

Aside from the announcement of the new maps that’s exclusive to Premium Pass owners, those who are a part of the CTE on the PC platform can be the first to experience Nivelle Nights maps. Which as of this writing, is currently available to download and play on the CTE servers.

Battlefield 1 is currently available on the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms.

Latest PvZ: Garden Warfare 2 Patch Includes Character Tuning

Are things getting a bit dull in the world of PvZ: Garden Warfare 2? If so, the latest patch to go live for PopCap’s quirky third-person shooter should spice things up. Especially to those of you who enjoy using some of the underperforming characters that were introduced into the game.

As the recent patch looks to bring two of the latest characters to be introduced to the game Scallywag Pirate and Breakfast Hero a bit on par with the rest of their counterparts. Though, the aforementioned characters aren’t the only ones that are being looked at as PopCap is also toning down a few characters such as Electro Peashooter, Electro Citron and Tennis Allstar.

Below you’ll find the latest game play changes and bug fixes to be introduced into the game as of April 6th:

Character Tuning

  • Increased rate of fire from 150 to 200
  • Increased ammo capacity from 10 to 12

Breakfast Brainz:

  • Doubled the speed at which his rate of fire increases for both his ranged and melee attacks.

Electro Citron:

  • Charged Shot First Level o Decreased splash damage from 30 to 25 (also affects impact damage) o Decreased inner splash radius from 3 to 2 o Decreased splash radius 4 to 3.
  • Charged Shot Second Level o Decreased splash damage from 45 to 40 (also affects impact damage) o Decreased inner splash radius from 3.5 to 2.5 o Decreased splash radius from 5 to 4.

Alongside the new balancing patch, it should also be noted that there’s a new in-game event going on to celebrate the spirit of Easter. Which sees you talking to a new NPC tasking you with finding a new hiding key daily for the opportunity to earn a free Easter themed cosmetic item for a random character.

Plants Vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 is available for the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms.

Battlefield 1: Monthly Updates Incoming, “In The Name Of The Tsar” Expansion Concept Art Revealed

Players of the Battlefield franchise are no doubt familiar with the way patches are structured with seasonal updates. This is, excitingly, all about to change as DICE layouts the future of the Battlefield franchise.

DICE has revealed during their recent The Road Ahead that seasonal patches are finally no more. Now, instead DICE will be implementing monthly patches to their game with the first one releasing soon. This of course will allow DICE to implement what the community wants at a much faster pace, such as the inclusion of the Platoon system which is essentially Battlefield’s version of the clan feature found in many games.

While no exact launch date has been revealed outside of a May window, you can expect some of the following fixes, and features in the upcoming patch.

  • Quality of life fixes.
  • Streamlined flow into matches including the Operations game mode.
  • New variants for the class level 10 weapons such as the Hellreigher and Martini-Henry.
  • Gameplay issues being improved such as making the game more balanced for both teams and more.

Aside from this, DICE has also revealed the very first glimpses of the second expansion DLC for Battlefield 1 “In The Name Of Tsar” with three concept art images that features snowy battlefields. Check them out below alongside a synopsis of the expansion:

“Battlefield 1 In The Name Of The Tsar will bring you to the Eastern Front, where you will fight alongside the Russian army and witness the brutality of combat and the bitter cold of the Russian winters, as seen in the concept exploration images in this post. Prepare yourself for all new tactics employed by the Russian army. Though the frost is cold, the steel is colder.”

With the inclusion of the Russian army with the next expansion, which weapons would you love to see added to Battlefield 1? Let us know in the comment section below.

Project Scorpio Tech Revealed

Microsoft has finally announced the tech behind their much anticipated console, Scorpio.

Digital Foundry got an exclusive hands-on look at the Project Scorpio, which you can watch in the video above. The console will feature a ramp up GPU, overclocked and custom CPU, along with an increase in RAM. Digital Foundry overall impression was extremely positive, and it seems that they were especially impressed with how well Forza ran at 60FPS with a native 4K resolution. While newer titles that will be released will most likely take full advantage of what the Scorpio has to offer, good news as come for older titles as they will also benefit from a performance increase with the updated specs, no patch required.  No price was given for the console, though we can expect to hear more about it at this year’s E3.

To give you an idea where it stands spec wise, a comparison chart between the Xbox One and PS4 Pro is available below.

We will be sure to cover it more as more details surface.

Battlefield 1 Premium Friends Announced, Lets You Share DLC Maps

Really exciting news was announced today by Dice, as they revealed their plans to allow everyone the opportunity to play newly released maps, even if they don’t own Premium.

They call it “premium friends” and what it basically does is allow anyone with the Battlefield 1 Premium services to host in-game parties, and as long as someone is a part of that party session they will be able to play on the new maps when the host selects them. Access to the maps is available as long as the party is “premium enabled”. This means no more errors telling you someone doesn’t own the Premium pass.

Do note, there are some disadvantages as to not owning the pass as listed below.

  • In a “Premium Enabled” party, only owners of a Battlefield 1 Premium Pass or the specific expansion pack will earn XP from the maps exclusive to that expansion. We will save the XP for everyone else and grant them retroactively if they decide to get the Battlefield 1 Premium Pass for themselves.
  • Only owners of a Battlefield 1 Premium Pass or the specific expansion pack will be able to spawn in with weapons and vehicles unique for the expansion.
  • Only owners of a Battlefield 1 Premium Pass or the specific expansion pack will track progress towards the unique medals and codexes for the expansion.

A test run of the feature will begin March 30th during Battlefest.

Report – Call of Duty WWII Leaks, A Long Awaited Return?

The future of the franchise may lie in its past.

Last month it was reported that Activition would be returning back to its “roots” with this years iteration of Call of Duty, and if leaks are to be believed this means a return back to its classic World War II settings. The leak surfaced from gaming youtube channel, TheFamiliyVideoGamers, which is an image of a hard steelcase for the physical version of the game. Down below you can see the title is simply called, “Call of Duty: WWII”

The last WWII themed call of duty was World at War, which released back in 2008. Now like all leaks, take this with a grain of salt, but all things considering it is that time of year where Call of Duty leaks start popping up. In fact, nearly all Call of Duty titles have had major leaks ahead of their reveals, and with E3 just three months away it won’t be long before we know for sure.

So what do you guys think, is this where the series should be heading? Or perhaps it should continue with its futuristic setting established in the last few call of Duty games.
