Report: PS5 vs PS4 Loading Time Comparison Video Shows How Fast Next-Gen Will Be

For some reason or another, Sony has deemed it time to talk about the PlayStation 5. No, it wasn’t done via an elaborate event (that’s happening at some point for sure), but via an interview with the PS4 — and now PS5 — Lead Architect, Mark Cerny in an interview.

While we still don’t know when the PS5 will be out, or how much it’ll cost come launch other than it’ll be “appealing” to gamers, we at least know now how fast it will load games in this new PS5 vs PS4 loading time comparison video! In a tweet by The Wall Street Journal tech reporter Takashi Mochizuki, it shows what he says is the Sony official video comparing the performance of the PS5 to the PS4.

As you can see, the loading times on the PS5 are insanely fast! Granted, this is a tech demo, and there are other stuff to factor in like the actual game size, etc., but for the most part, if the PS5 can achieve this kind of loading speed for next-gen? That’s definitely going to be something.

Do you think we’ll see this kind of loading speed on the PS5? Or is this wishful thinking even with the console using SSD?

Apex Legends Update 1.09 Patch Notes Now Live, Here’s What News and Improved

As expected, a new Apex Legends update is out now, and it brings a lot of improvements to the table. Just at 678MB on PS4, check out the Apex Legends update 1,09 patch notes below.

Apex Legends Update 1.09 Patch Notes;

AUDIO FIXES AND IMPROVEMENTS

One of our biggest issues to tackle was improving the audio performance to address issues reported of sounds dropping out, sounds missing for extended time, or distortion for a period of time. We have made improvements both in our code and with our content that will hopefully fix these issues for many players, and for others, at least lower the amount and length of time they encounter audio issues.

We have also addressed some of the other mix issues with the game, including increasing the volume of close proximity enemy footsteps and lowering the overall volume of the game from the character select screen to the end of the drop sequence. We will continue to monitor mix issues and address them as necessary. Below are the notes of improvements we’ve included in today’s patch and we’re continuing to work on future improvements.

PERFORMANCE

  • Improved audio engine to be around 30% more CPU efficient, lessening the chance of distortion or dropouts.
  • Lowered impact on data loading through code and content changes to improve potential dropout issues.

QUALITY OF LIFE

  • Lowered the master volume of all sounds during the character select screen through the end of the drop sequence.
  • Lowered the volume of Wraith’s ambient kunai knife sound for those who are sensitive to the sound. If it is still bothersome we will remove it in a later patch.
  • Increased the volume of close proximity enemy footsteps for all Legends.
  • Increased the priority of enemy footsteps to ensure the sounds play even in heavy combat situations.
  • Slightly lowered the volume of Pathfinder footstep sounds heard from the first person view.
  • Fixed missing or quiet dryfire (out of ammo trigger click sound) and low ammo (the progressive change in sound that the gun makes as the magazine approaches empty) sounds for the R301, Hemlok, Flatline and RE45.
  • Increased the volume of the music that plays when winning a match.
  • Added more detailed audio to the Training mission.

BUG FIXES

  • Fixed occlusion bug for the “wind down” sound for the Havoc.
  • Fixed issue with automatic weapon fire sounds occasionally getting stuck on, usually after a Legend respawns.
  • Fixed bug with RE45 missing tail sounds (the echo in the environment after the shot) when in close proximity.

HIT DETECTION FIXES AND IMPROVEMENTS

As we talked about last week, in this patch we’ve pushed some fixes that should eliminate many cases of incorrect hit registration. This patch also includes some behind-the-scenes tracking of bullet damage logic. We expect there will still be some remaining hit registration problems, but with these fixes and diagnostic information, we are better equipped to track them down.

One potential cause of hit registration bugs can be simple internet connection problems. In order to determine how much of a factor this is in reality, we have put some time into refining the functionality behind our network problem indicator icons in the upper right of the screen. These icons are now pickier about your connection quality and may show up more frequently than they did before. These icon changes will be useful for us in narrowing down the cause of any bugs that we continue to see. Please continue to share videos and report hit registration issues you still encounter after the patch.

FIX FOR LIFELINE “PICK ME UP” BANNER BUG ON PS4

  • The issue has been resolved and we will be re-enabling the banner after the patch is live.
    • NOTE: We made changes to client and backend to address this and it’ll take a little time to take full effect. We’re expecting the error to resolve within a few hours after the patch is live.

[PC ONLY] CRASHES SPECIFIC TO INTEL CPUs

We investigated the crash reports from many people who were crashing frequently and found that Intel CPUs sometimes were not executing the instructions properly in one particular function. A common example was an instruction that only reads a register crashed on writing to invalid memory. With the help of many forum users, we found that lowering the clock speed always fixed the crashes, even if the CPU wasn’t overclocked or overheating. Thanks everyone, with a big shout out to Falkentyne, TEZZ0FIN0, JorPorCorTTV and MrDakk!

This has been by far the most commonly reported PC crash over the last month or so and we’ve notified Intel about the issue. In the meantime, we’ve put a workaround in this patch to avoid the crashing at your original clock speeds just by changing the instructions used by that one function. Please continue to send your crash logs to our forums so we can analyze and fix any issues you encounter!

ADDITIONAL BUG FIXES AND CHANGES

  • Fixed issue with the Fortified Passive ability for Gibraltar and Caustic where they would take damage through shields.
  • Fixed the bug that allowed players to stick objects to Gibraltar’s Gun Shield.
    • Admittedly it’s been fun to see the results of this but the behavior is not intended by design and could get out of control. Items will no longer stick to Gibraltar’s Gun Shield, however, it will now deflect Arc Stars.
  • We have identified some issues with -novid, and will be disabling the flag until we can address the issues.  Thank you for your patience

In other Apex Legends news, EA has confirmed that a mobile version is in development, so we should hear more about that soon.

Capcom Confirms “Numerous Games” Are in Development With RE Engine

It’s no secret that Capcom has been in some sort of renaissance after the success of many of their games. Their new proprietary engine RE Engine definitely has been a key factor on the success of their games. Resident Evil 7, Resident Evil 2, and Devil May Cry 5 are amazing games built with the engine and, according to Capcom, not the last we’ll see of RE Engine projects.

This happened following the reveal of Capcom’s information for the past fiscal year. The game publisher was asked about future games that are being developed using the RE Engine. The company did not state the names of any of the projects they are working on. However, they confirmed that they are working on numerous titles developed in the engine.

“While we are unable to comment on the specific number of titles or release windows, there are numerous titles currently being developed internally with the RE Engine,” said Capcom in response to the inquiry.

Additionally, Capcom made a few comments in regards to creation of games on the RE Engine. “The games we developed using the RE Engine during this current hardware generation have received critical acclaim, and from the early stages of building this engine, we kept the ability to augment it for next-generation development in mind,” the publisher stated.

The RE Engine seems to have become a staple of the publisher’s future efforts. As such, one can only imagine what Capcom has in mind for their upcoming games. We might even see some amazing multiplayer titles coming in the near future as well. The sky’s the limit when it comes to the possibilities that Capcom has with the RE Engine.

Maybe some of the new games by Capcom will be announced during E3 2019. The possibility is a tantalizing one, especially because they could bring back properties like Mega Man X. At the same time, Capcom could also reveal entirely new properties or a reboot to other franchises.

Sony Microsoft Partnership Took PlayStation Team by Surprise

Sony and Microsoft threw the world of gaming into a completely new level. This happened after the announcement of a partnership deal that will see both companies improving player experience with Microsoft’s Azure technology. However, it seems like one of the parties that was surprised by the announcement was PlayStation themselves.

That’s right, according to a Blooomberg report, this new Sony Microsoft partnership blindsided the PlayStation team. Of course, the current plans for the next-gen console are still the same. The report also suggests that this partnership exists due to Sony’s incapability of providing their own longstanding Cloud service.

It’s no secret that many companies like Amazon and Google are starting to make their game streaming services. Sadly, this is a losing battle for PlayStation’s Cloud gaming service. As such, it is believed that Sony Chief Executive Officer Kenichiro Yoshida is being forced to collaborate with Microsoft instead of adding to the competitor pile.

“Sony feels threatened by this trend and the mighty Google, and has decided to leave its network infrastructure build-up to Microsoft,” said Asymmetric Advisors strategist Amir Anvarzadeh. “Why would they sleep with the enemy unless they feel threatened?” The Sony Microsoft partnership’s true intention might actually have been revealed by this strategist.

In related news, this course of action between Sony and Microsoft has taken its effect almost immediately. Sony’s stock jumped 9.9% on Friday, the most in 18 months. The company also announced a record share buyback as well. Meaning that this move has been quite respected in the financial world.

STADIA and other services like it have become a threat to Sony’s Cloud services. As such, it’s important for PlayStation Now and Project xCloud to bring their best systems so players don’t shy away from their next-generation consoles. What further developments could happen in the future of Cloud gaming? Only time will tell at this point.

Gamer Gets to Play Borderlands 3 Early Due to Terminal Illness

Sometimes, we forget how fortunate we are to be able to do the things we want with nothing to worry about. We tend to take for granted how some people would love to be in our shoes, no matter how crappy our situation might be. This is one of those times, people.

Over on the Borderlands subreddit, Trevor Eastman (going under the name of taurustrev) posted a message hoping someone on Gearbox could see let him play Borderlands 3 early since he has stage 4 esophageal, stomach and liver cancer. He originally wanted to watch Avengers: Endgame early as well since he doesn’t know how much time he has, but wasn’t lucky enough to get Marvel’s attention.

Hi everyone. I don’t even know if this is a possibility…if anyone can make this happen for me…but my name is Trevor Eastman and I’m 26 years old. Last June I was diagnosed with stage 4 esophageal, stomach and liver cancer. I was given a year to live…I’ve been a huge fan of Borderlands for a long time now…and I don’t know if I’ll live to see Borderlands 3. If there’s any possible way that someone could find a way for me to be able to play it early…I would be forever grateful. I tried to see if I could see Avengers: Endgame early because I’m not sure how long I really have…but i wasn’t so lucky. If anybody could help me that would mean the world to me. Thank you for listening. Proof: http://imgur.com/a/VKPW2wJ further proof because some people really think I’m making this up: http://imgur.com/gallery/Qw4Kbhz

To date, the thread has over 9,000 upvotes (as it should), and more importantly, Gearbox has taken notice and is making it happen! Here’s Eastman’s latest update on the situation with the grim title of “Update on dying 27 year old.”

Hey everyone, I just wanted to give you all that were kind enough to upvote and tweet about my situation an update. One of the people from 2k has been talking to me(not sure if I’m allowed to say who so I won’t mention a name) and he’s making it happen. They’re flying somebody out at the beginning of June most likely to give me a copy of the game. I just wanted to thank you all so much for helping make this dream come true. It means the world to me that you all cared enough to do that for me.

I can’t even fathom what Mr. Eastman is feeling right now, but I really hope that those few hours of gameplay time with Borderlands 3 will help him forget about the pain and everything else he might be feeling.

Kudos to Gearbox for taking swift action, and let’s Trevor lives long enough to see the game get released and play it with his friends.

Rumor: First Watch Dogs 3 Info Sneaks Out, Set in London and Will Feature a Female Protagonist

Given how successful the Watch Dogs franchise is for Ubisoft, it’s no secret that we’re getting a new entry in Watch Dogs 3. Now that E3 is right around the corner, it seems the first few nuggets of Watch Dogs 3 info have sneaked out!

Over on Reddit, a user posted what is said to be the first details regarding Watch Dogs 3! Check it out below.

watch dogs 3 info

Cliff notes time! Who doesn’t want a more condensed version, right?

  • Will be set in London
  • Will feature a half Asian, half English female as the protagonist
  • Will feature non-lethal weapons
  • Set in the near future
  • Tease coming two weeks before E3 2019, with the full gameplay reveal at E3
  • Will be out November 2019

No word yet on whether there will be multiplayer or not, but given Ubisoft’s track record, I assume there will be one. Bear in mind, these are all rumors and as such, should be taken with a grain of salt, alright?

For those keeping tabs on Watch Dogs 3, Ubisoft’s E3 press conference will be held on June 10, and with the publisher confirming that there’s three unannounced AAA games due out before March 2020, I suspect Watch Dogs 3 is one of those games.

THQ Nordic Unannounced Games Planned at E3 2019 for “Beloved Franchises”

If you’re hoping for some unannounced games at this year’s E3, you’re getting exactly that from at least one game publisher. THQ Nordic (Darksiders, Red Faction) has confirmed that there are at least two THQ Nordic unannounced games set to be revealed at the event.

Take a look at the tease from THQ Nordic below.

As you can see, it explicitly mentions how THQ will reveal a title that is “the long-awaited return of a galatically beloved game/franchise.” The other one mentions how it’s a “new vision of a beloved game/franchise.”

One of the teases could potentially be for Timesplitters, which THQ Nordic owns the IP for. E3 2019 starts this June 11, 2019, though there will be events and announcements the day before from the likes of Ubisoft, EA, and more.

What are you hoping to see from THQ? Let us know your thoughts below

Report: Activision Considering Call of Duty 2019 F2P Component

With yesterday’s report dropping a bombshell that Treyarch will purportedly once again be on the developer’s driver sat for Call of Duty 2020, one nugget of info that was also mentioned was how Activision was allegedly considering a free-to-play (f2p) component for the still-unnamed Call of Duty 2019 (which we all know now is another entry in the Modern Warfare saga),

In the report, it mentions how some Activision execs have started to discuss embracing the now-lucrative f2p model, with reportedly three sources confirming that the publisher is looking into a Call of Duty 2019 f2p component, though specifics — or whether this will be in the game come launch — have not been finalized yet. Furthermore, it mentions how some within Activision have remained “resistant” to the idea as well.

Could this Call of Duty 2019 f2p component be the “game-changing” experience mentioned by Activision in its earnings call? Or maybe it’s Infinity Ward’s take on battle royale that will be free-to-play to rope players in? Your guess is as good as mine, but this certainly does put a new spin of intrigue into this year’s Call of Duty.

Speaking of Call of Duty that’s free-to-play, go read up on everything about Call of Duty Mobile (yes, it’s f2p) right here.

Will Gamers Make the Jump to Online Casino Games

At present, there are approximately 2.34 billion gamers in the world and their number is expected to rise to over 2.72 billion by 2021. Most gamers prefer traditional games like PC RPG or console FPS. However, there is another category of games that has started to appeal to an increasing number of traditional gamers: the category of online casino games.

The online casino games of today look completely different than what they were a couple of decades ago a lot of the games that exist today include numerous elements that can also be found in traditional video games. For these reasons, the experts from www.supercasinosites.com believe that traditional gamers might begin to play online casino games in order to experience new gaming realms.

Which Casino Games Might Appeal to Video Gamers?

As mentioned already, many games that exist today feature elements from traditional video games, which makes them more immersive than ever before. Online slots, in particular, include numerous video gaming elements, including leaderboards, which can be amusing to any traditional gamer. Further, more and more iGaming software providers have started using video gaming technologies like virtual reality headsets, which further gamifies casino games. This guide to live dealer games will help you to understand the basic rules with ease.

Another thing to note is that developers are using more and more themes from traditional video games. For example, games like Agent Jane Blonde are packed with intense spy actions, while Immortal Romance provides a narrative punch, which might appeal to players who like Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft.

Online Casinos Make Gaming Easier

It is not just the game themes and elements that entice traditional casino players. Apart from that, traditional gamers like the bonuses offered at online casinos, as they allow them to try out different casino games.

Many traditional gamers do not know how to play online casino games, so no deposit bonuses and free spins can be useful to them as they allow gamers to better understand how casino games work. Once players have understood that, they will be better able to make a decision.

Gambling Elements Already Exist in Traditional Video Games

A final factor that might push gamers to online casino gambling is that gambling elements can also be found in traditional video games, too. For example, many video games feature the so-called loot boxes, which are thought to entice gamers to gamble.

Simply put, loot boxes are consumable items which contain an in-game product, either a customisation option for a player’s character or weapon, or a weapon or armour. To get a loot box, players are required to pay a given sum of money. What is more, it is not possible to choose what your loot box contains; what you get is decided by the so-called random number generator (RNG) systems, the same ones used by online casino operators.

Loot boxes have received mixed reviews over the years. To many, they are used to make players invest in games as well as to promote gambling activities among traditional video gamers. Critics claim that loot boxes are used as “pay-to-win” systems, and some even regard them as “pay-to-loot” systems.

It should be noted that not all loot boxes are alike. For example, some video game developers used to put items in their loot boxes that are vital for the game development, thus requiring anyone who wants to continue playing to purchase a loot box. On top of that, many developers made the opening of loot boxes incredibly flamboyant; in some games, the opening of loot boxes looks largely the same as winning a big jackpot on a casino game. According to the latest news from the casino industry, several European states have decided to ban the use of loot boxes in video games, and some states have even promised to sanction the game developers that do not comply with the rules.

Whether loot boxes are a form of gambling or not, they are used on a massive scale by many video gamers. As gamers like loot boxes, experts say, they will undoubtedly like casino games as well.

Three Ways Online Gambling Will Change in the Future

The future of gambling relies heavily on the innovations of technology. That has been highlighted by the fact that the sector has increased in popularity, and price since the advancements allowed for gambling apps, and up to date information in sports betting. All companies keep an eye on advancements that are being made, and they try and stay ahead of the latest trends which could be about to shape the future of the industry.

The most significant aspect that has enabled the sector to flourish is the accessibility of online casinos. The mobile apps have made it simple for bets to be made anywhere (as long as it’s legal), and the experience is the same for all users, which is unlike what you could experience if you went into a land-based casino. But what could punters be expected to see change over the next couple of years when it comes to online gambling?

Technology Adapting Gameplay

Like we have mentioned previously, the sector relies heavily on the innovation of technology. Platforms are always on top of the trends that are shaping the market, and should something alter; then they would be quick to act on this. One way in which user experience could be increased over the next couple of years could be the introduction of virtual reality (VR) or augmented reality (AR). VR has long been touted as a possible way to increase customer experience and would be used to make the live casinos on various bookmakers’ websites more realistic.

This is a market that bookmakers have been aware of for many years now and is only developing further. There are specific games on the market now that require this equipment to be played. This could be the same trend that online casinos also take, although the AR step is the more likely one. The fact that a player has to wear the headset isn’t practical for mobile gamblers, while the use of AR has already excelled with portable players, and the success that it has enjoyed through Pokemon Go has been unquestionable.

Payment Methods

When it was first introduced there was only one way of making a deposit and, and that was through card payments. However, nowadays there is an abundance of ways for users to deposit and withdraw their winnings. The reason for this is as much because of security as it is accessibility. Customers have become aware of the dangers online, and although the risk that somebody may steal your card details through a bookmaker is minimal. However, fraudsters and scammers are getting smarter, and that means that technology has to also.

Companies such as Paysafecard and PayPal are available on almost every popular online casino now, and these companies quickly find new ways to protect their customers’ money. While the reasons already mentioned are enough for most casinos, there is still the fact that some of them offer new ones as it broadens the range of people that they appeal too. The more modern payment methods such as Bitcoin, Zimpler and Cryptocurrency are slowly growing across the industry and that will only continue to increase throughout 2019, and into 2020.

Further Improvements in Games

All the reasons that we have mentioned previously are reasons why people will be attracted to online casinos in the future, but the quality of games on offer is what will ensure that the members of various online companies will remain with them. Games have come a long way from the basic graphics and sounds of the past instalments; the quality nowadays is the best it has ever been, and developers have had a massive part to play in that.

Not only are the graphics crisper and the sound clearer, but the games are generally much easier to play. That in itself will encourage people to get involved; as they wouldn’t want to play games that seem too confusing to understand. There are also games that appeal to sports and comic book fans as football teams and heroes front some of the most popular games on the website; this ensures that every taste is accounted for. This will only continue in the future, as games will become slicker, and the customers will continue to roll in.

Will We Ever See Casino Operators Like Mr. Green Hosting Multiplayer Games?

A 3D avatar to represent you, a virtual casino full of people, realistic graphics and 24/7 technical support—isn’t that something online casino players would be interested in? Even though gamblers care mostly about the money, they would appreciate such platforms.

So, why aren’t billion-dollar casinos brands like Mr. Green working on MMOs? Will multiplayer games ever become a thing?

The Four Kings Casino and Slots

Gamers that love Steam have probably come across this game. First released in 2015, the Four Kings Casino and Slots platform is a virtual casino where gamblers frequent. Designed like a Vegas casino, you can walk around the establishment, befriend people while watching others play table games.

Inside the casino, you are represented by a 3D avatar of your choice. The casino gifts you free chips to use on poker, blackjack, roulette, video poker or slots. Like most modern land-based casinos, The Four Kings Casino and slots game is constantly evolving. What you wear today isn’t what you’ll wear tomorrow.

Winning is the only sure way to earn a seat at the gaming tables. If you lose constantly, your money diminishes and you can’t afford new clothes or chips for gaming. On the other hand, beat the house severally and your rank is improved to a VIP level. There’s also a career mode that runs for 3 months. The winner’s chosen picture is published in the casinos Hall of Fame.

Live Dealers

Depending on your likes, you may argue that online casinos like Mr. Green offer something better than virtual multiplayer games. Live dealers bring together multiple players in real time. Instead of virtual tables, dealers and games, you play using real equipment.

Most casinos have dedicated live dealer rooms located in different parts of the world. They have real croupiers, regular gaming tables and roulette wheels. Players make the calls on interfaces available on their individual computers.

Like virtual multiplayer casino games, players can also use virtual chips during certain games. They can increase chips by depositing more cash to their account. Again, they can convert chips into cash and withdraw it. This is something you can’t do playing the Four Kings Casino and Slots game.

If you’ve never played casino multiplayer games, try out live dealers. Betting for roulette starts at €0.10. With €5, you can play one round of your favorite blackjack game. Poker, Baccarat and other table games also have similar prices.

Live Slots Tournaments at Mr. Green

In addition to live table games, some casinos also host multiplayer slot games. Mr. Green first hosted a slots competitions in 2017 and has maintained the offer ever since. Players enter tournaments every 15-30 minutes. The tournaments run for 30 minutes, giving you half an hour to accumulate as many points as possible.

Mr. Green gives you points every time you win. The top five players after the tournament is done receive the grand prize of free spins and bets. Read Mr. Green’s review on this site to learn about its games, bonuses, restricted countries and reputation before you join any of its tournaments.

Live Bingo

Apart from slots, bingo is also available as a multiplayer game. On a good bingo site, players compete in real time with minimal betting starting at €0.10. There are up to 20 bingo games available for multiplayer gaming. Real presenters make announcements and calls. And since the game works like most table games, you can view them. You can also see fellow competitors, which makes live bingo even more exciting.

Why Some Casinos Lack Multiplayer Games

  • Games are Supplied by Third-Party Companies

Almost all games on modern online casinos are supplied by independent developers. It costs money to lease these games, meaning not all gambling sites can afford them. An average gaming license costs up to $450,000.

Mr. Green and other top tier gambling sites can afford the licenses, hence their ability to provide live games. However, they don’t have all kinds of live games because they don’t make them. Game providers like NetEnt and Microgaming are responsible for these games. Even live dealers are also supplied by independent providers.

  • Maintenance

Besides affording licenses, online casinos, are required to maintain gaming software 24/7. Sure, they work alongside providers to resolve technical issues. But to ensure live games are operated smoothly round the clock, they must have knowledgeable engineers and designers at all times.

Fortunately, there are lots of casinos with live multiplayer games. If you would like to challenge a friend online or go head to head with strangers, it’s not difficult to find live games for you to play. Make sure you read the terms of each game you play. When playing with bonuses, in particular, winning could come at the cost of wagering more money.

  • RNG Games are Popular

One of the main reasons people love online casinos is because they are private and convenient. There are no dress codes or noisy crowds. There’s nothing like walking with bags of cash or worrying about not knowing the time of the day.

The current online RNG games are also entertaining. While some people cherish the social aspect of multiplayer games, most players appreciate the thrills of regular video slots. They also care more about how much they’re winning rather than being able to play with others.

Another advantage of the current RNG games is that they allow people to gamble at their pace. With most casino multiplayer games, dealers make the calls and will attempt to hurry gamers that take time before making decisions.

To Conclude

Multiplayer games are entertaining. They have also become highly popular with video gamers. In fact, the top five most popular video games today all support online multiplayer-gaming. Some casinos have been exploring the possibilities of multiplayer games on their platforms.

Some, including Mr. Green, allows gamers to compete with fellow gamblers through live dealers. You could also play slots tournaments with friends and strangers alike. However, most casinos are far from supporting the kind of multiplayer games you find on video gamers. Split-screens or 3D games like the Four Kings casino and slots are simply not present on most real-money gambling platforms.

Apex Legends Upcoming Update Scheduled for Next Week, Here’s the Patch Notes

With Apex Legends’ last major patch released way back in April, Respawn Entertainment has confirmed that the Apex Legends upcoming update will be released next week, and what’s more, the studio even released the patch notes already!

According to Respawn, the next Apex Legends patch will drop “early next week,” which we assume will be Tuesday since that’s when most patches are rolled out.

Apex Legends Upcoming Update Patch Notes;

Once the patch is live, we’ll be sure to let people know.

In other Apex Legends news, EA confirmed that a mobile version is in development, which we’ll hopefully hear about soon.

Report: Call of Duty 2020 is a “Mess,” Treyarch Takes Over Dev Duties and Plans Black Ops 5

While we’ve yet to hear anything official from Activision regarding this year’s Call of Duty game (which is totally going to be another entry in the Modern Warfare saga), news regarding Call of Duty 2020 has already surfaced, and it’s not in a good place.

According to a new report by Kotaku, Treyarch, which just released Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 last year, will be taking over development duties from Raven Software and Sledgehammer Games to develop Call of Duty 2020 as Black Ops 5.

For those familiar with the Call of Duty franchise, it’s a known fact that there are three main Call of Duty studios at Activision: Infinity Ward, Treyarch, and Sledgehammer Games. Each studio has three years to craft their own take on Call of Duty, with each studio alternating releases each year. Given we just had Call of Duty: WWII in 2017, and Black Ops 4 last year, and this year will be Infinity Ward’s turn with a new Modern Warfare game, Call of Duty 2020 should be Sledgehammer Games’ turn once again. Unfortunately, that’s not happening it seems. In the report, it mentions that Raven Software was tasked to take lead on its first-ever Call of Duty main entry, with Sledgehammer Games providing support. The game co-developed by both studios will be set in the Cold War (which is said to likely involve Vietnam), though that’s not happening now.

People familiar with the situation has described the project as a “mess,” and cited tension between Raven Software and Sledgehammer Games as one of the main causes why Call of Duty 2020 isn’t in a good place right now.Now that Treyarch has been asked to step in, it’s expected that Treyarch will transition to the game to Black Ops 5, with Raven and Sledgehammer’s work on a single-player story mode transitioned to be the campaign for Black Ops 5.

Furthermore, the report mentions that Black Ops 5 is expected to be a cross-gen title, which will coincide with the launch of the PS5 and next Xbox, which are both expected to hit sometime in fall 2020.

Given how accurate the track record is of Kotaku’s Jason Schreier on these things, the chances of it being true are very high, and if so, it’s a bit worrying to be honest. Good thing 2020 is quite some time away, so Treyarch can (hopefully) salvage Call of Duty 2020 into something good.

SEGA Wishes to Make More Online Games for Western Gamers

Not too long ago, SEGA released a Q&A for investors. This document talks about various topics and points of interest for the company. Of course, one of the most important aspects of this document is SEGA’s desire to make more online games for players outside of Japan. Additionally, SEGA is interested in releasing an MMORPG project in Japan.

According to Siliconera’s translation. SEGA stated their plans for the fiscal year ending in March 2020. This happened in response to an increase of research and development costs for the company. When asked about the reason behind this increment on costs, SEGA responded with the following statement.

“The reason we’ve increased research and development costs for the fiscal year ending March 2020 is because we plan to release multiple new console games (physical). We plan to invest more in online games made for the West. Our studio from England called The Creative Assembly only had about 50 employees at the time of its acquisition (In March 2005), but it has since then grown into one of England’s largest game studios. Because it is essential to earn results in this field, we’ve increased our investment in existing IPs as well as new challenges. Again, as for MMORPGs on PCs, we’ve increased our investment as we’re considering something in the 10 billion yen class, if not a few billion yen class project, for Japan.”

It seems like SEGA’s current interest is actually focused on more games made specifically for Western audiences. They also mentioned their partnership with Creative Assembly, which has produced successful titles such as Total War: Three Kingdoms. In other words, Western players might see a lot more game titles developed for consoles and PC in the future.

The most interesting thing about this statement is a new MMORPG project for Japan. For those unaware, Phantasy Star 2 has been active ever since 2012. However, this statement seems to suggest that this new project will be entirely unrelated to this MMO. As such, SEGA is probably working on a new IP or a third entry in the Phantasy Star series.

Casino Games That Gamers Would Love

Real Gamers Love These Classic and Modern Casino Games

When it comes to gaming in the general sense, there are certain elements that can be found throughout various genres and sub-genres. Modern gamers can find things like elements of luck, strategy and skill in their favorites just depending on their own personal dispositions, but you can find some of these same threads in different types of casino games.

In what follows, we’re going to take a look at how and when these common threads show up in some of the most popular casino games of all time along with how you can make connections between popular modern games that players are very familiar with.

Plenty of Heads-up Skill to Be Found

Tournament fighters such as the Mortal Kombat franchise are hugely popular with gamers looking to compete against others. The same goes for casino games that are available in tournament mode, and include slots and table games such as poker. Players can compete against each other and climb the leaderboard for a share of the prize pool.

What makes these games so interesting is that, while there are degrees of luck involved, the games make it possible to compete against others for cash prizes. Slots are especially popular at online casinos where tournaments are available and there are a lot of websites where slots, table games, and other titles can be played

When you add the element of a real money wager to the contest, what you get is a really interesting situation because it brings your focus to a peak and helps you to really concentrate and try at the game you’re playing.

Casual Gamers and the Intersection of Luck and Skill

More casual gamers will care less about the skill-based elements of games and care a lot more about luck and just taking their time and trying to win by trying different things. A whole genre of tiles actually called “casual games” was around for quite a while, and it included games like Bejeweled that really focused on this style of play.

A lot of slot games you can find in casinos are modeled after this same type of play dynamic. In fact, games like Bejeweled and other similar gem-matching titles have been translated over into casino titles that take into consideration the same types of gameplay with things changed slightly so that different types of matches and combinations get awarded prizes. This is a cool way to transition from playing for fun to playing with a chance for real money prizes as well.

Card-Based, Single-Player Fun

A lot of people don’t realize just how important single-player card games are in the overall industry of gaming as a whole. It’s easy to see how big of a deal this is since solitaire was included in the World Video Game Hall of Fame, and that’s one of the most-played card games of all time because of its inclusion as a default program on Microsoft Windows systems for so long.

A lot of casino card games are based around a similar type of single-player action. In fact, there are actually versions of solitaire that you can wager on at online casinos that combine luck and skill to reward you for getting the most cards into their appropriate piles as possible.

A Long, Steady Story Unfolds

One of the reasons why games like the Resident Evil series will get so much attention is that they have a story that unfolds over time. There are certain casino titles that allow for the same sort of thing in different ways and to different degrees.

A popular example could be slots that have different stages that players can progress through as a story unfolds. This can open up new ways to win, new stages, new features and new symbols based on where you are in the actual story. There’s also the “story” that unfolds as you try to run a certain amount of money up into a level that fits with your goals for the session, which many players have tried to do over and over in the casino portions of games like Thunderstruck II.

Casinos online allow you to get in on the same kind of story-based action to see how far you can take your money while you’re at the computer or on your mobile device, so it’s just as accessible (if not more accessible) than most console-based titles.

The Factors of Presentation

Other than the specific gameplay elements, there are also the ways in which the games are presented that are important. When you play online, you can get games that have tremendous levels of graphics and aesthetic appeal that match up with the top video games in the world.

Some people are under the assumption that this is only for the slots, but that’s not the case. Table games have come a long way as well, and there are even virtual reality and live dealer options where you can see the action unfolding as if you’re there with the table and dealer in front of you. In this way, some of the non-slot titles are further ahead in the presentation department that some of the most popular console and PC video games available.

Bringing It All Together

No matter which genres of video games appeal to you, there are elements and threads of the action that can be found in other casino games. This goes for everybody from the casual gamer to the ultra-skill-obsessed fans of FPS and tournament fighter genres, so it’s not hard to see why there are so many gamers spending more time seeing how they can do in the casino both online and in a land-based capacity.

The Sony and Disney Relationship Is Strengthening With the Recent Predator Game Announcement

While I was surprised by the State of Play announcement of a new Predator game, one thing that really didn’t occur to me till much later is that the Predator (and Alien) license is effectively now owned by Disney given the House of Mouse’s acquisition of Fox. This is a rather interesting scenario as this will be the third licensed Disney property published by Sony, and developed by a third-party studio this generation.

We all knew the deal made between Disney and Sony for the exclusivity rights of Spider-Man was going to most likely open themselves up for future properties, but to our surprise, it appears things may be moving quicker than anyone could have expected.

Earlier this year, it was announced during the first State of Play that Marvel/Disney would once again be partnering up with Sony to deliver us an Iron Man VR title exclusive to the PS4. Much like with Spider-Man, Sony would also be developing this in collaboration with yet another non-first party studio (Camouflaj, who are known for their work on the Republique series). It may not be what people were expecting from an Iron Man title, but nonetheless, it could prove to be one hell of a killer app to add to the growing list of PSVR titles. Early impressions and some gameplay have been relatively positive so far, so it’ll be interesting to see how it turns out once it releases.

This news of Iron Man being a PlayStation VR exclusive no doubt already shows a growing relationship between both Disney and Sony, but what seems to be an announcement made out of nowhere, and during yet another State of Play event, Sony has now been granted to publish yet another Disney property with the Predator game. Oddly, there seems to be a common trend going on here.

Besides Sony being the game publisher, it would appear that all three of these titles are developed by independent studios. Spider-Man was developed by Insomniac Games, Iron Man VR by Camouflaj, and now a Predator game by Illfonic. It simply can’t be a mere coincidence that three Disney-owned properties happen to also be developed/in development by independent studios (instead of first-party) in collaboration with Sony, right? Perhaps this gives us a better look at what this partnership entails between the two, or if it’s in some sort of clause of their agreement that an outside studio must develop said IP to get publishing rights. Who knows, honestly? In fact, it could very well be a coincidence, and given how close we are to the recent deal closure (march 20, 2019) of Disney buying Fox, it’s possible this was a deal struck well before Disney came into play.

Though I can’t see how Illfonic, despite being a decent size team, would have time within the past few years to be working on multiple titles. Dealing with a major set-back that Friday the 13th: The Game may have caused them and be working on a Predator game for Fox. This may be backed up by the fact that we were given a CGI trailer rather than any type of gameplay reveal, or a reasonable amount of gameplay details suggesting the game may be in extremely early stages of development. It is slated for a 2020 release after all, but we do have a feeling it may be delayed given Illfonic’s past work history.

It’s somewhat of a surprise to see this Disney and Sony-made deal, as the future of Predator (and Alien) is basically up in the air with the recent movie tanking, and the Disney film schedule leak lacking these titles perhaps they plan on continuing these R-rated franchise through the means of video games? It would certainly make a ton of its fans happier rather than trying to make another cash grab film.

Regardless, even if this deal was made before the buyout it only further strengthens this growing relationship that Disney has with Sony. This would be three titles within this console generation that Sony has secured rights to publish exclusively for Disney and we can’t help but think this won’t slow down anytime soon. Its a good sign though that Disney isn’t done working with Sony and perhaps we may see other titles similar to Predator that fall outside of the Marvel Universe. We know without a doubt a sequel to Marvel’s Spider-Man is going to be issued, and if Iron Man VR and/or Predator end up being successes, then we expect more support to follow.

What we can say is the numbers certainly are stacking in Sony’s favor.

Team Sonic Racing Launch Trailer Races Out

We’re only a few days away from the launch of Team Sonic Racing! This project by Sumo Digital and SEGA has made a ton of people excited for the release. As such, SEGA decided to rekindle the hype flames once more with a new trailer for the game. SEGA released a new Team Sonic Racing launch trailer which will make fans even more excited than before.

The trailer itself is only a minute long. However, it’s more than enough to showcase everything players should expect. The Team Sonic Racing trailer shows Sonic and his friends and enemies competing. Of course, that just isn’t everything this game will be about.

The Team Sonic Racing trailer shows a lot more than just a few races. It also briefly describes the Online feature of the game. Another big emphasis of the Team Sonic Racing trailer is focused on the car customization system.

Players will be able to fully customize their vehicles with multiple cosmetic features. However, some of the customization options also involve different components that change different stats. This can add a layer of depth to the game as players now have to take modifications into consideration in order to have the best car for the race.

Finally, the trailer is accompanied by multiple tracks that are inspired by Sonic The Hedgehog locations. Some fans might recognize some of the tracks as they have been used in games like Sonic and SEGA All-Stars Racing. There are a lot of new additions that can be seen if you look for them hard enough. You can look at the trailer right below:

Team Sonic Racing will be relasing on May 21, 2019 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The game has been heavily promoted by SEGA with an animated series as they did with Sonic Mania. What do you think of the trailer?
