The Division 2 Free Content for Post-Launch and Year 1 Pass Details Announced

With The Division 2 set to become available for everyone via its open beta weekend later this week, Ubisoft wants to keep the momentum going as it announced a lot of The Division 2 free content set to come post-launch!

Before anything else, check out the video below to see what’s in store for players in the game’s first year.

Players can expect the following content for free in The Division 2’s first year:

  • Tidal Basin, releasing shortly after launch, will reveal a new challenging stronghold held by the Black Tusks.
  • Operation Dark Hours, also releasing soon after launch, will be the first 8-player raid in the history of The Division.
  • Episode 1, D.C. Outskirts: Expeditions, releasing in Summer 2019, will take players to the surrounding areas of Washington to fight for the liberation of the city in two additional main missions, a new game mode to investigate the fate of a lost convoy, encountering unexpected threats along the way.
  • Episode 2: Pentagon: The Last Castle, releasing in Autumn 2019, will have additional main missions, with players storming the Pentagon and unveil the secrets that hide beneath one of America’s most iconic locations
  • Episode 3, releasing in Winter 2019 will close the first chapter of The Division 2 story and pave the way for more content to come.

The Division 2 Year One Pass also got announced, and here’s what players will get:

  • 7-day early access to All Year 1 Episodes narrative content
  • Instant access to all Year 1 Specializations as they release
  • 8 Classified Assignments revealing more about the fall of D.C.
  • Exclusive cosmetics and additional in-game activities, such as base of operations projects and bounties,

Not bad for free updates, right? Also, it’s commendable that Ubisoft is finally shying away from locked content that fragments the player base with Season Pass content; let’s hope this is a trend that continues on moving forward for all games.

PS Plus Free Games March 2019: Modern Warfare Remastered, The Witness

Shooter fans, you’re in for a treat! Coming hot this coming month is one of the best online first-person shooters of all time! Sony has announced the PlayStation Plus free games for March, and it includes Modern Warfare Remastered!

The complete PS Plus free games March 2019 list is below, and can be downloaded on March 5, 2019.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered

Activision’s colossal Call of Duty series is truly part of the fabric of modern gaming, and it was in 2007 that developer Infinity Ward took the console world by storm with its contemporary spin on the popular action series it helped create. 2016’s Modern Warfare Remastered brought the classic back in full HD for a new generation of gamers, while respectfully retaining its first-class gunplay and brilliant level design.

Download it with PS Plus this month to relive a true FPS classic (in glorious dynamic 4K on PS4 Pro when played on a PS4 Pro system and a 4K display).

The Witness

From the developer of the charming puzzle-platformer Braid back in 2008, creator Jonathan Blow promptly returned to the drawing board and spent the next eight years working on an ambitious follow-up.

The result was 2016’s The Witness — an enigmatic first-person puzzler set on a seemingly-deserted tropical island, dotted from one end to the other with a vast network of interconnected puzzles.

Boasting spellbinding narrative twists and an unbeatable sense of satisfaction in conquering each puzzle, The Witness is a benchmark in design and environmental storytelling. Download The Witness on PS Plus this month for a slow-burning test of the old grey matter.

Also of note, if you still game using your PS3 and PS Vita, you have until March 8, 2019 to download the following games:

In case you didn’t know, PS3 and PS Vita games will no longer be part of each month’s PS Plus freebies list, so download these while you can.

Don’t forget to check out Sony’s PlayStation Store sale for the week, with the complete list included in this post.

Are you excited to play Modern Warfare Remastered? What memories do you have regarding it?

Apex Legends Hitbox Will Be Addressed by Respawn, Skydiving Super Distances Fixed

Just the other day, we showed a side by side comparison of the Apex Legends characters and how their hitboxes gave some Legends an unfair advantage over others. Respawn is aware of this, and said that they will address this in the future.

Respawn isn’t only touching on the Apex Legends hitbox issue, but skydiving super distances has been fixed as well. Here’s the full update straight from Respawn.

HITBOXES

We are aware of the feedback around the hitbox differences between characters. This is an area that definitely needs improvement and we will be addressing it in the future.

SKYDIVING SUPER DISTANCES

We’ve applied some fixes that should address the issue where players could fly much further than intended. We’re continuing to hunt down and address any exploits that pop up so thank you to everyone that’s been capturing and reporting them. Please let us know if you are still seeing people able to do this.

TWITCH PRIME LOOT EXPLOIT FIX

We pushed a small patch today to address the Twitch Prime Loot exploit on PC. With this update, the Omega Point Pathfinder skin will be removed from any accounts that obtained it using the exploit.

PATCHES: SERVER VS CLIENT

You’ve probably noticed that there are things that we are able to address quickly and hotfix and others that take more time. So let’s take a look at how these are different.

  • SERVER PATCH or HOTFIX: These are changes that we can make on the server that don’t require a patch to push to your PC or consoles. These are usually script or playlist changes.
  • CLIENT PATCH: These are patches that you’ll need to download and update your game to get. These require us to create a new build and go through the certification process before we can push these live to all platforms. Whenever we are adding new content, fixing code bugs, or making some big changes to the game, they have to be done through a client patch.

In addition to those, Respawn Entertainment is also looking at the current meta of the game, and will adjust things based on the mountains of data they have.

THE META

We’ve been listening to player feedback and going through the mountains of data we get from the game. Soon we’ll be talking more about how we think about live balance for Apex Legends and some of the changes to expect to the meta.

CRASHING ON PC

This week we’ve been working directly with nVidia to investigate PC crashing as well as parsing through reports from our customer service folks. These reports are aggregated from hundreds of posts with breakdowns of what hardware is being affected. We have to account for thousands of different hardware configurations and settings so reproducing many crashes, applying, and testing the fixes will take time. We know this is very frustrating for many of you that are trying to play.

Reminder that we do have a troubleshooting guide on the forums with things to try in the meantime using the link below. Also, we recommend you turn off overclocking on your CPU and GPU as we’re seeing reports of peoples games becoming much more stable as a result.

https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues/Community-Crashing-Troubleshooting-Guide/td-p/7447308

BUT WHY ARE YOU FIXING SOME BUGS QUICKER THAN OTHERS?

Saw this brought up with the Twitch Prime Loot fix that went out today so let’s talk about it. There are different people working on different issues, and some are a lot easier than others. When a bug is reported there are some that we can reproduce and address right away and others take more time and investigation to fix. Understand that just because we fixed one thing quickly vs another that doesn’t mean other bugs are not a priority or actively being worked on.

Don’t forget to check out the datamined game files that possibly leak the existence of eight new Legends, and a few new game modes.

Most Popular Console Games

Video game systems have been all the rage since the Magnavox Odyssey, the first gaming console, was introduced in 1972. Back then, the games were basic, at best, yet they were super interactive (remember Pong for the Atari?) and really captured the attention of anyone who was looking to be entertained.

Of course, as technology advanced, so, too, did gaming consoles. In 1983, the launch of the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) really changed the shape of video gaming. This system was the “it” form of entertainment. The system, along with its trademark game, Super Mario Brothers, took the world by storm. Since then, dozens of video gaming systems have been developed: the Sega Genesis, the Commodor CDTV, the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, the PlayStation… there have been so many incredible options to choose from; but not all of them stuck around. In the 21st century, the brands that have stuck around have become the pillar of entertainment. People across the globe enjoy hours of entertainment, thanks to the super developed gaming consoles. Some of the top systems include the PlayStation 4, Pokemon Jupiter, the Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One.

While the consoles are the foundation of gaming, the games are what really make them; after all, it doesn’t matter how advanced the system is, if the games aren’t engage, the console doesn’t really matter… Which brings us to the topic of our conversation: What are the most popular console games?

Whether you are just getting into gaming, you recently bought a new system, or you are looking for something new and exciting to play on your favorite console, here’s a look at some of the top console games of the 21st century:

Fortnite

If you haven’t heard about Fortnite yet, you haven’t been listening. Kids and adults of all ages are totally obsessed with this co-op survival game; walk into any elementary school and you’ll see kids busting out all types of crazy dance moves that are inspired by the game, like the Infinite Dab, the Zany, the Groove Jam, Take the L, and Orange Justice. Developed by Epic Games and released in 2017, it can be played on various systems, including the PlayStation 4, Xbox, and PCs, too, like macOS and Microsoft Windows.

Minecraft

Created by Notch, a Swedish programmer, Minecraft was originally developed as an independent sandbox game in 2011. When Mojang, another Swedish company developed and published it, the popularity of this game really took off. The game can be played independently or cooperatively on various systems, including PlayStation 3 and 4, and Xbox One and 360, as well as personal computers. It can be played in various modes, including creative, adventure, spectator, and multiplayer. Players build structures out of various types of 3D cubes to create their own worlds. They can also collect resources, explore, and engage in combats.

Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII

This first-person shooter, multiplayer game was developed by Treyarch and published by Activision and it’s the sequel of Call of Duty: Black Ops III, which was released in 2015. It can be played on Microsoft Windows, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. The game is centered on the history of the Specialists, the characters of the game. Settings include an Ancient Roman arena, the RMS Titanic, and the infamous Federal Penitentiary, Alcatraz. There’s also a battle royale mode, called Blackout, where 100 players can battle against each other in a match.

Super Mario Odyssey

It might be hard to believe, but Super Mario is just as – if not even more – popular than it was when it first game onto the gaming scene in the 1980s. Super Mario Odyssey was created and published by Nintendo (of course), for their newest console, the Switch. It’s a 3D platform game that follows the story of Mario and Cappy, a specter that has taken over Mario’s cap and enables him to control characters and items within the game. Together, Mario and Cappy embark on a thrilling adventure to save – you guessed it – Princess Peach from Mario’s arch nemesis, Bowser.

Spider-Man

You can become Spider-Man himself in this action-packed console game, which was developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment for their PlayStation 4 system. It tells a completely new story of the Web-Slinger; one that has no foundation in any comic book, movie, or other Spider-Man-themed video games. Both Peter Parker and his alter-ego, Spider-Man, are the lead characters (of course), but Spidey is a bit older and wiser than he has ever been before. Players attempt to save New York City from Mr Negative, a super-human crime lord. The graphics are insanely realistic, which is one of the reasons why it has been hailed one of the best console games. You’ll literally feel as if you are watching a movie or partaking in the action yourself.

Ghost Recon Wildlands New Operation Dropping Tomorrow, Here’s What’s Coming

Have you been enjoying Ghost Recon Wildlands? If so, there’s some good for you today. In a press release, Ubisoft announced that a Ghost Recon Wildlands new Operation is set to deploy tomorrow, February 27, as a free update to the third-person shooter.

Unfortunately, this will also be the game’s last free major update for the game for the second year of post-launch content. Check out the trailer as well as official details below.

Guerrilla Mode expands on the game’s PvE experience with a unique challenge testing players’ endurance, skills and tactics. Solo or up to four Ghosts, players will need to defend key locations against increasingly deadly waves of Cartel and Unidad members. After each completed wave, players will have the opportunity to purchase and upgrade weapons, skills and attachments with resources gathered from dead enemies. Each choice will be impactful and strategy will be essential to overcome the challenge.

In addition to Guerrilla Mode, Special Operation 4 introduces a wealth of new Ghost War PvP–focused content, including:

  • One New PvP Class: The Sapper is a new Support class option that deploys a specialized drone that shoots “concussion” mines. These mines drain stamina from players and suppress them, slowing down their rush.
  • Two New PvP Maps.
  • Two New PvP Events:
    • Arms Race: Players spawn with only their pistols and are forced explore the map for better weapons.
    • Danger Zone: Players are periodically bombed with ultrasonic blasts, forcing them to always be on the move.

Once the patch is out tomorrow, we’ll let our readers know.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Update 1.06 for Red Dead Online Now Live, Here’s What’s New

If you just turned on your consoles, you’ll be greeted with Red Dead 2 update 1.06! It;s at just 2GB on PS4, and as one can expect, the update is for Red Dead Online.

For this week’s big Red Dead Online update, players can expect new weapons, clothing, a lot of balance changes and more! Check out the complete list of changes straight from Rockstar Games!

New Gameplay

Earn Gold Nuggets and XP for completing Daily Challenges, a new series of wide-ranging objectives covering everything from skinning animals to finding treasure, winning feuds and more. Pull up the Player Menu to see your 7 Daily Challenges that will rotate each day, each challenge earns Gold Nuggets and XP and completing all 7 earns you a bonus.

Starting next week, compete with rival teams and Posses in the new Free Roam Event Fool’s Gold, where players fight to wear a protective suit of Golden Armor. Take down the current wearer to earn the armor and points, then turn the tables and rack up kills against the opposition.

And looking ahead, new game modes will arrive in the Red Dead Online Beta each week. Put your highwayman skills to the test with Target Races as you race other players on horseback to take down targets with speed and accuracy. Proficiency with a bow and arrow will give you an edge, take advantage of weapon and horse stamina pickups where you can, use your limited bullets wisely to remove targets or your attack your competition.

Take on friends and rivals in new Fishing Challenges. Opt in to a challenge to receive the appropriate equipment and bait, head to the water’s edge and start reeling in the big ones. For added ease, use Eagle Eye to pick a spot full of fish. Remember, you’re trying to catch the highest total weight of fish to win – which could be achieved by hooking several smaller fish or angling for one large catch – so keep everything you reel in.

Also coming soon: three new Showdown Modes where players and teams compete to capture and deliver bags, steal loot from each other and survive. Stay tuned for more details around Up in SmokeSpoils of War and Plunder. With the addition of these new modes also comes the Featured Series blip – visit the Featured Series sign post or from the Quick Join menu to play the latest modes.

New Weapons

The Rare Shotgun is a beautifully engraved, faded brass version of the powerful, double-barreled longarm and is available today. Coming soon, be sure to get your hands on the Evans Repeater – a high grade, high capacity rifle that is devastating at medium and long range. Both weapons will be available via the Wheeler & Rawson Catalogue and from local Gunsmiths.

New Clothing

Treat yourself to a range of new Outfits, Boots, Coats, Gloves, Hats, Vests and more. In addition to all the clothing that will be available for purchase at your leisure, keep an eye on the shops and the Catalogue for Limited Time items that will come and go each week.

New Emotes

Express yourself with a new set of emotes including new reactions, greets and taunts. Like all Emotes, you can tap once for the standard emote and double tap for a more exaggerated expression. You can find new Emotes in the Wheeler & Rawson Catalogue then add them to your Emote Wheel through the Emote Wheel Management menu.

World Enhancements

Updated Player Radar and Visibility: We’ve reduced the visibility of players blips over longer distances, so now your location won’t display to other players unless you are nearby – minimizing the likelihood of being targeted across the map by more aggressive competitors. This includes limiting voice chat to near proximity rather than players from across the map. Overly aggressive players will be highlighted from the map with a progressively darkening dot. If your style of play becomes more hostile, your map position (including your Posse members) will become darker and visible from further away.

Easier Parley and Feuds: Turn quarrels with other players into timed mini-deathmatches with easier to trigger Feuds, which can be initiated against a rival and their Posse after one kill. Alternately, instigate a temporary truce quicker after one kill with similar updates to the Parley system.

Enhanced Law and Bounty System: If you stir up enough trouble to earn a high bounty, you’ll increase the chance that a cadre of NPC Bounty Hunters will be out to get you. The higher the bounty gets, the more persistent your pursuers will become… so watch out!

Please keep the feedback coming as these new features arrive each week. In addition to new content, stay tuned for new weekly bonuses such as this week’s care package to help you tackle Daily Challenges and your other ongoing adventures across the five states. Head into the Red Dead Online Beta any time before Tuesday March 5th to receive a complimentary delivery of goods at your Camp’s Lockbox or at the Post Office consisting of:

  • 2x Potent Snake Oil
  • 2x Potent Bitters
  • 2x Potent Miracle Tonic
  • 2x Horse Reviver
  • 2x Potent Horse Stimulant
  • 8x Poison Arrows
  • 10x Explosive Slug

Lastly, starting today, PS4 players will have early access to the Jawbone Knife, which is a unique melee weapon with ahandle “artfully carved from the remains of a slain animal’s jaw.” There’s also new clothing options, three new emotes coming to PS4 owners as well soon.

Who doesn’t want to kill the undead while playing with your pals, right? Saber Interactive has released a new World War Z trailer, and this one reminds us the zombies are coming!

In case explosions, and action aren’t guaranteed enough, it’s also using P.O.D’s “Boom” as the backdrop song.

Saber Interactive, in partnership with Focus Home Interactive, has just dropped the latest gameplay trailer for World War Z, the highly anticipated co-op shooter inspired by Paramount Pictures’ blockbuster film. This “Zombies Are Coming” Trailer is the newest look at the game and shows off even more over-the-top, zombie-horde action, just in time to celebrate all pre-orders being fully live at digital and retail stores.

Powered by Saber’s dynamic Swarm Engine™, World War Z unleashes hundreds of fast-moving, bloodthirsty zombies at a time for a one-of-a-kind action experience. Choose from six distinct classes and an arsenal of deadly weapons, explosives, turrets and traps. Outlive the dead through intense four-player co-op campaign missions around the world, and battle both zombies and real human opponents in competitive, team-based Players vs. Players vs. Zombies (PvPvZ) multiplayer.

If you want to see the pre-order bonus, it’s detailed here.

Apex Legends Hitbox for Characters Compared Side by Side, Here’s How Each One Fares

While in most multiplayer shooters, character hitboxes are the same to balance the game out, that’s not the case with Apex Legends. Believe it or not, some characters in the game are easier to hit than others, which means you’ll be soaking up damage faster given you’re easier to hit.

Check out the Apex Legends hitbox review for each character in this video by SookieSpy:

If you’d rather see it upfront, here’s a quick look at each Legends’ hitbox comparing each character via SookieSpy:

Want something much easier to understand? Here’s a comparison look at each character with actual percentages on how easy it is to hit them up top, and in full overall (via Reddit user Zhrooms):

As you can see, Lifeline is the hardest one to hit at “top,” though Wraith is the hardest one to hit overall. Sorry, Caustic and Gibraltar mains! These two seem to suffer the worst fate when it comes to being bullet sponges.

Those worried or annoyed at this, don’t fret! Respawn Community Manager Jay Fresh has already mentioned that Respawn is looking into it.

Let’s hope this gets resolved soon, lest everyone uses Wraith and the other hard-to-hit Legends all the time.

In other Apex Legends news, there are eight new Legend names found in the game’s files, which suggest that we’ll be getting a ton of new Legends soon.

Anthem Loot Drop Nerf Acknowledged by BioWare, Community Wants It Reverted Back

If you’ve been playing Anthem since launch, and noticed that loot drops were of considerable less quality after the patch, you’re not suddenly imagining things. It seems BioWare’s last patch had the side effect of increasing “certain drop chances,” and it has since been rectified.

This was confirmed by BioWare Lead Producer Ben Irving, who posted the following message:

Comment from discussion Loot Droprate Nerf.

Hey – update on what happened here.

In our Friday changes, one of the edits we made had the side effect of increasing certain drop chances. This was not intended. Once we identified the problem we changed it back to how it was before. That was about 11 hours later.

Took a little time for that message to make it around internally and to make sure we understood what happened and how to avoid it going forward.

It’s never our intent to make changes without being transparent, so we wanted to come in here to respond and clarify.

Ben

Note: we did intentionally change the drop rates of rare items in certain chests, per the patch notes we posted

Who doesn’t want some high tier loot for their grinding, right? With this Anthem loot drop nerf, the community did not appreciate it, and are clamoring for BioWare to dial it back up again. The front page is littered with threads about it, with some of the most upvoted ones below.

I’ve put 87 hours into this game in the past week, playing after the loot nerf is the first time I noticed a lack of enjoyment
byu/Duceman inAnthemTheGame

Nothing will kill this game faster than scarce loot drops
byu/Rehevkor_ inAnthemTheGame

Post patch loot. Whether it was a bug or not, is no longer enjoyable
byu/Avlaen-Amnell inAnthemTheGame

A lesson I think Anthem/Bioware could learn from Diablo III when it comes to loot: “Be Generous”
byu/Archernick inAnthemTheGame

Will BioWare acquiesce due to community demand? We can’t say for sure, since this does affect the endgame, and how the gameplay loop ropes in players. But then again, the points raised by the community are valid, too, and of course, making the player base happy is important to live services games like Anthem.

Should BioWare revert it or did players just get used to the better loot drop rates, and are just being salty?

EA. Activision CEOs Part of the Top 100 Overpaid CEOs List

Even while gaming companies continue to shutdown studios and lay off mobs of people, it seems the top brass are usually not affected, and are living the high life. If that wasn’t a slap in the face enough, the world’s two biggest video game publishers  — EA, and Activision — have their CEOs be part of the top 100 most overpaid CEO list!

This was compiled by non-profit advocacy group As You Sow (via Variety), which publishes an annual report on the 100 most overpaid CEOs.

In their list it ranks each most overpaid CEO, their pay, the excess of their pay, and the CEO:Worker pay ratio, and it’s not a pretty sight.

EA CEO Andrew Wilson is “only” at 98 with an annual pay of $35,728,674, which is an overpayment of $19,673,861. Activision CEO Bobby Kotick is at 45 with an annual pay of $28,698,375, which is overpaid by $12,835,277. Astounding, right?

In comparison, the CEO:Worker pay ratio for Bobby Kotick is 306:1, while Wilson is “only” at 371:1. It seems it is indeed true that if Kotick slashed his pay a bit, Activision Blizzard wouldn’t have had to cut close to 800 jobs.

Will this change anytime soon? Let’s hope it will at some point since this is just gross to look at.

Report: 8 New Apex Legends Heroes Unearthed Game Files and Here Are Their Names

Just last week, we reported that two new Apex Legends heroes have been unearthed in the game’s files, and it seems that’s not the last of it. More names of Legends are now know. which have also been unearthed by datamining the game’s code.

Presently, there are eight new Legend names seen in the game files that aren’t known. Note that even if their names are listed in the game’s code, there’s no guarantee that they’ll make it into the game. For all we know, these could be cancelled Legends and whatnot.

Again, there’s no guarantee that the unknown Legend names will make their way into the game at all, but don’t be surprised if you see these new Legends announced in the near future. Also of note, if ever we do get eight new Legends, I expect Respawn will stagger their release as to monitor if ever they’ll screw up the game balance, and of course, as to not overwhelm people.

Aside from the new Legends, there are also game modes that have been unearthed as well, which you can read about here.
