Devil May Cry 5 Will Run at 4K, 60 Frames Per Second on PS4 Pro, Watch S Rank Gameplay Right Now

What’s more important in action games, graphics or performance? Thankfully, you won’t have to make that choice when it comes to Devil May Cry 5 — at least if you’re playing on a PS4 Pro.

Over on Twitter, Capcom Producer Matt Walker was asked whether Devil May Cry 5 will be “PS4 Pro enhanced.” Walker replied that DMC 5 will be at 4K, and at 60 frames per second on the PS4 Pro!

Presumably, it’ll be the same on the Xbox One X, given it’s a technically more advanced piece of hardware.

If that’s not enough, check out 20 minutes of Devil May Cry 5 gameplay below (via GameStop YouTube) showcasing some awesome S rank style combat!

If you’re wondering why we’re posting Devil May Cry 5 info here on MP1st, it’s due to the game reportedly including multiplayer, which makes it fair game. Lucky us, right?

Devil May Cry 5 will make its stylish exit to retail this March 8, 2019 on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Fallout 76 Cross-Play Not Happening Confirms Bethesda, Watch the Official Intro Right Now

While Sony announced yesterday that the PlayStation 4 version of Fortnite will allow for cross-platform play (in beta right now), don’t expect Bethesda’s upcoming online Action RPG, Fallout 76 to be in the same boat.

Over on Twitter, Bethesda SVP of Global Marketing Pete Hines announced that Fallout 76 cross-play is not happening, and he’s not sure if it ever will.

That’s a bummer. no? Well, there’s a chance it could be patched it, which is all fans can hope for at this point.

Additionally, Bethesda has released the official in-game Fallout 76 intro! As one can expect, the art style is very Fallout-ish, and has a ton of classic appeal.

In related Fallout 76 news, Bethesda has announced the Fallout 76 B.E.T.A. and it’s happening first on Xbox One! Read up on the important details right here.

PlayStation All-Stars Servers Being Shut Down by Sony Next Month

Remember PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale? Released back in 2012 on the PS3, this was supposed to be Sony’s answer to Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros. franchise. Unfortunately, that didn’t go as well as expected, and its developer, SuperBot Entertainment has remained quiet ever since.

According to the game’s PlayStation Store product page, the PlayStation All-Star servers will be shut down on October 25, 2018!

Description

Online features for PlayStation All-Stars (PS3, PS Vita) will no longer be playable from October 25, 2018. Functionality will be affected in the following ways:

o You can play the campaign offline as well as local (couch) multiplayer in shared screen mode.
o You will not be able to host or join an online game.

Play the ultimate free-for-all brawler showcasing the best and brightest of PlayStation®’s characters and worlds!

So if you want to play as Kratos, Sweet Tooth or some other PlayStation character that smacks the bejesus out of another PlayStation character, don’t forget to do it within the next four weeks, or you’ll have to content with bots the next time you play.

Do you know anyone who still plays PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale? Don’t forget to remind them of this server shutdown.

Battlefield V New Classes Might Come After Launch

While Battlefield V will use the same four class types DICE has been using for the Battlefield franchise since Battlefield: Bad Company 2, it seems there’s a good chance fans will see more classes make its way out to the shooter.

During a Reddit Q&A, DICE Multiplayer Producer David Sirland mentioned that “new/more classes” are being considered when asked by a fan whether the studio plans to offer a more diverse system in terms of classes and Combat Roles.

Question:  I have a question regarding the evolution of Archetypes into what we now call Combat Roles.

For me, one of the most exciting thing about the Archetype system was how it was going to encourage play style variety inside a class through off-class weapon choices. One of the early examples was a Recon Archetype that could only use silenced SMGs. This idea made me very excited for the game, as I wanted more weapon and play style variety for classes without the all kit madness of BF4. A CQB role for Recon that takes them off the hills and encourages them to be in battle at the front with their team was especially exciting.

Now though, I’m really scratching my head. The Combat Roles seem either totally bland, or silly not to pick (Pathfinder, with it’s SL spawn, totally outclasses sniper in basic utility for example) and I feel like I’m just slotting in perks instead of picking an really unique role like the CQB Recon of yore versus a long range recon player. Tank hunter for example, what is the point of running a class called Tank Hunter when all you do is 3D-spot the giant loud tank, and get a requisition bonus for killing it? The Tank Hunter could have had special access to AT mines but had to use an SMG, or any one of so many more interesting options if weapon variety were in play. But now? He’s just 2 perk slots.

So the question is: why did you decide not to implement off-class weapon access for Archetypes when transitioning to what you now call Combat Roles, and is there any chance you will return to a more diverse system of sub-classes that have more weapon and play style variety?

David Sirland: Good question, Combat Roles is less limiting from a load out perspective, yes – and more about deepening the effectiveness of certain play styles.
This change and some of this rationale for launch comes from us knowing that most players pick a class based on the primary weapon class – which limits the usage of some of the previous archetypes severely.

The initial Combat roles cover the basic playstyles of the launch package, and we will expand on this over time through our live service.

We will also most likely still do more specialized classes and combat roles over time (yes, new/more classes!) – similar to that originally outlined stealth weapon hybrid referenced by you and others.

Speaking of classes, don’t forget to check out the Assault, Medic, Support, and Recon classes and their Combat Roles. For those looking for vehicle and weapons info, DICE has mentioned that those will be the topic of discussion next week.

Fallout 76 Beta Release Date Announced, Arrives First on Xbox One (Update)

Update:

It seems Bethesda has confirmed that progress from the Fallout 76 beta is planned to be carried over to the final game. That and more questions have been answered which you can read about here.

Apologies for any confusion!

Original Story:

Hyped to play Bethesda’s Fallout 76? You won’t have to wait until release date to try it as Bethesda has announced the Fallout 76 beta release date! Pre-order customers will gain entry to the beta, and there’s no word yet whether Bethesda will make it available to everyone at a later date.

Called the B.E.T.A. (Break-It Early Test Application) by Bethesda, the Fallout 76 beta will be available first on Xbox One on Tuesday, October 23! PlayStation 4 and PC players will need to wait a week after to get their hands on it (Tuesday, October 30).

According to Bethesda, the Fallout 76 beta won’t be online 24/7 for the entire duration of the testing phase. Rather, it’ll be up for 4-8 hours since the studio’s primary goal is to stress test the servers, which means Bethesda wants people to jump online all at the same time to see how the game will respond.

Additionally, Bethesda has confirmed that nothing will carryover from the beta to the final game in terms of progression. As the studio puts it, “you’ll start the same as everyone else.” For those curious, there’s no NDA on the beta, either, so feel free to stream, record, post gameplay on social media.

Fallout 76 will be available this November 14 on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Single or Multiplayer: Which Is the Best Way to Play?

Since the 70s, we’ve been gaming. From Pong to the first Atari console to the latest innovations in tech and cinematic worthy releases from the biggest developers, if you love to game you’ll know it’s come a long way.

Whether you’re now more of a multiplayer or prefer to tackle the latest release solo, games started out in a single player format – with platform based titles and 8-bit graphics – until the world wide web came along and shook things up.

How you choose to play says a lot about you – and also depends entirely on the type of game you prefer. When multiplayer became an option for many, it took the industry by storm. These days, it’s still a huge market with eSport tournaments rising in popularity and players taking home huge winnings. However, it’s definitely not for everyone.

While some articles out there claim single player games are a dying breed, this definitely isn’t true. What you choose all depends on the kind of gamer you are – and most people dabble in both game types. Incredible graphics and voice acting are boosting single player games popularity, while online multiplayer are reserved for those moments when you want to take a break from the cinematic experience.

Those who love to play RPGs may dabble in a fast-paced multiplayer occasionally but are likely to prefer a quality, story based title, beating the game on their own and revelling in the satisfaction that comes with it.

On the other hand, gamers who love nothing more than plugging in their mic and teaming up with other players may find cut scenes tiresome and prefer the instant win of an online multiplayer.

Wondering which category you fall into or even which one is better overall? Here, we’ve looked into the cases for both.

The benefits of single player gaming

The thrill of beating a big boss, becoming emotionally attached to the characters and the satisfaction of completing a game are just some of the elements that draw many people to single player titles.

These games are a truly immersive experience and can be played at your own leisure when you fancy taking some time out and escaping to another world. They are now being respected as art forms, as we come to appreciate the artists and designers behind what’s on the screen more so than ever. The attention to detail and time taken to create these games is comparable to a feature length film.

But it’s worth noting that single player games aren’t just the visual masterpieces, such as Uncharted or Horizon Zero Dawn. In fact, everything from mobile apps to gambling sites fall under this category. Here’s why single player is preferred by many:

  • You can play how you want

Single players are great for those who like to take their time and own the gameplay. You can detour, explore and focus on elements of the game you truly enjoy – such as crafting or side missions, alongside the main storyline. There’s no time limit or other people to worry about. The joy of completing a game single-handedly is unmatched too, as you feel accomplished at working out how to complete levels and beat bosses without help.

  • They’re an immersive, cinematic experience

Single player games, such as RPGs or even a FPS can feel like an enveloping visual experience once the cut screens start. Think about the breath-taking landscapes witnessed in Guerrilla’s Horizon Zero Dawn or the eerie feeling of walking through Rapture in the Bioshock games, every single player title has an immersive world to get lost in. High quality audio and incredible graphics make single player games a truly captivating experience. Professional actors offer their voice to tell the story, so you become attached to the characters you’re playing as, making single player games best for those who want to feel involved with the game’s story.

  • They’re accessible to most people

Many single player games don’t require an internet connection to play, making them accessible to everyone. You can enjoy gaming totally offline, ideal if you play on your mobile and don’t have the data to compete against others in multiplayer modes. There’s also no lag waiting for other players or relying on your broadband for a smooth game.

  • You can feel challenged

Single player games allow you to up the difficulty, so you still get a fair game playing against the computer but can also control how tough things get. Sometimes, multiplayer games can be frustrating if high ranking players are on the other team dominating matches but with single player you’re in control.

  • There’s less chance of cheating

When you go up against other players, there’s always the chance someone is bending the rules to win the game – for example, when a gamer unlocks the big guns somehow with a hack. However, single player games are just as prone to cheaters – especially in computer-powered games such as slot machines.

  • It’s always a pleasant experience

There are no subscription fees to pay, no shouting to be heard over a microphone and no potential abuse from other players. You can play how you like, when you like and not worry about how good or bad you are. Playing offline is a money saver, all you need to pay for is the cost of the game itself.

Why multi-player gaming could be for you

Local multiplayer was where it all began. With friends hooking up their PCs to battle against one another – although LAN parties are something many of us still enjoy nowadays. Now we can simply switch on a console, load up a game and instantly battle it out against other gamers around the world.

Many multiplayer games do still have an underlying story, such as Destiny 2 or even World of Warcraft with its lore, you simply complete these and discover what’s happening alongside other players. However, Battle Royale style gameplay is perhaps the most popular choice for many looking to spend a few hours with a controller or mouse and keyboard to hand.

With this in mind, here are just a few of the reasons why multiplayer may be the preferable option for some players.

  • They’re social

Multiplayer games are definitely a social affair – if you can ignore the 13-year-old gamers screaming down the mic occasionally. If you get in with a good team, you can spend hours making new friends and dominating a game. It’s also great for those all important communication skills if you’re a team player as you work together with other players to dominate the game.

  • You can improve your game against well-matched players

Playing online means you can get better at a game without having to battle it out against the computer. Instead you’ll be pitted against other players who are either on the same level or just a little better to help you improve your game in real time. No cheating playing on easy mode – the enemy is a real person who can adapt to how you play.

  • There’s money to be made if can go pro

Games such as Starcraft II, DOTA 2 and League of Legends are great multiplayer titles but there’s also money to be made playing against other gamers – if you can reach a professional level. eSports is a huge market now and gamers who take part in tournaments can take home millions in cash prizes – Dota 2 is definitely where the money is at, with the highest amount won a whopping $4,097,204 by German player KuroKy.

  • The games are quick, great if you’re stuck for time

If you fancy a brief game there’s no need to worry about saving it or checkpoints as online gaming allows you to dip in and out whenever you feel like it. Most online matches last for up to 20 minutes, so there’s very few time constraints.

There are plenty of great aspects to consider and most new titles now feature an element of both to switch between when you fancy a change. But which one are you, mainly? Single or multiplayer?

Battlefield 1 Update Version 1.27 Now Up, Patch Notes Detail Fixes

DICE has released Battlefield 1 update version 1.27, and it’s out now for all platforms. This is also called as the BF1 Autumn update, though with Battlefield V right around the corner, don’t expect any big changes or additions.

Here’s the complete Battlefield 1 1.27 patch notes straight from DICE.

  • Fixed an issue where an incorrect message would display, depending on the attack rating at the end of an Operation.
  • Fixed an issue where the mid-round team balancer wasn’t aware of players from pre-round.
  • Fixed an issue where the end of round screen would appear, instead of the pause menu, in Operations.

As mentioned previously, players shouldn’t expect any big, sweeping additions to the base game given DICE is readying fans for the release of Battlefield V, which will be out this November 20 on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

In other Battlefield 1 news, DICE has already said that it regrets not adding women to the game.

Report: Red Dead Redemption 2 Install Size Requirement to Be 105GB, Sony Gets Timed Exclusive Content

With games going up in size more and more these days, it’s hard to properly manage harddisk space when it comes to console gaming, and it seems Red Dead Redemption 2 will add to the complications.

On the PS4 Pro Red Dead Redemption 2 bundle, it states that Sony is getting 30 days early access to RDR2 content, and what’s more, the game needs a whopping 105GB of free disk space!

Note that this is not 100 percent confirmation that Red Dead Redemption 2 will require 105GB of disk space. Case in point: Reddit user Pyrocy779 posts that the official Destiny 2 listing on the PSN Store states that it needs 68GB of save size, but the actual file was just 30.85GB. Having said that, I wouldn’t be shocked if this 105GB requirement is legit given how massive Rockstar Games titles are.

We’ve reached out to Rockstar Games for clarification and will update the story if and when we get a response.

In other Red Dead Redemption 2 news, don’t forget to check the info blowout we posted regarding the combat, controls, gameplay and more.

Xbox One Mouse and Keyboard Support Confirmed, to Be Added on a Title-by-Title Basis

If you always wanted to test your mettle in console games using a mouse and keyboard, you’re about to get your wish — sort of! Microsoft has announced that it’s rolling out mouse and keyboard support for the Xbox One!

Now, before anyone gets too excited, note that this is for Xbox Insiders only for now, and this won’t be available for every game that comes out for the Xbox One, but rather, it’ll be on a title-by-title basis, and as Microsoft puts it, it will be up to developers if they want to implement it or not. The good news here is, Microsoft has mentioned that most wired or wireless USB keyboards and mice will work with the Xbox One. What’s more, Microsoft is partnering with peripheral maker Razer to bring “the best possible mouse and keyboard experience” to the Xbox One.

With this new input support at the platform level, developers can now build mouse and keyboard support in their games if and how they choose. It’s important to note that mouse and keyboard support for games is added on a title-by-title basis, entirely at developers’ discretion. For all other titles, nothing changes. Mouse and keyboard input is not enabled by default for games. Each development team knows their titles best and we support them in creating the right experience for their games as they see fit, to ensure an optimal and fair gaming experience. Warframe will be one of the first titles testing mouse and keyboard input when the feature arrives to Insider in the coming weeks.

Hopefully, if and when this feature becomes available, Microsoft or game developers find a way to separate the control pad users from the KB/M players. This should also shut down those players who use third-party peripherals to “cheat” their way into using kb/m controls on console — at least one can hope.

Best Match 3 Games

Match 3 games have soared in popularity over the past few years, with players enraptured by the simplistic but exciting concept behind the genre. Match 3 games are puzzles in which gamers form chains of three or more identical symbols to rack up the points. That basic concept remains constant in match 3 games, but there is scope for variation on the theme. In such a competitive market, the onus is on the creators of games to find subtle twists on the classic formula or introduce a compelling context to make their match 3 game the most attractive choice. Here are some of the match 3 games that stand out from the crowd.

It would be remiss to cover match 3 games without a nod to the behemoth that popularized the genre. Bejeweled is the pioneering match 3 game that successfully introduced the format to a huge audience, with the tile-matching game first released by PopCap Games in 2001. Subsequent incarnations have seen the game brought up alongside the development of technology, but the classic core of the original version remains. The staggering success of the game caused Entertainment Weekly to declare Bejeweled the ‘Gone With The Wind’ of casual gaming in 2008, and the game has gone from strength to strength in the following decade.

Millions of gamers have whiled away long commutes in the company of Bejeweled, but the game no longer has a monopoly on the market. While its influence endures, there are many games that have taken inspiration from Bejeweled while forging their own distinct identity. The best match 3 games available deploy exciting visuals and themes to revitalize the genre.

One of the games that marries classic match 3 gameplay with a thrilling context is Family Zoo: The Storywith the game calling on players to restore the Family Zoo by solving match 3 puzzles. Players can advance the story by completing quests and can unlock cute animals from around the globe. This high-stakes narrative adds extra incentive to the match 3 gameplay. The euphoria behind forming combinations increases when they contribute to saving animals’ homes.

Other match 3 games that feature story elements include Ghost Town: Mystery Match Game, in which players are required to explore some spooky locations, and the Indiana Jones-inspired adventures of Indy Cat Match 3. It is incredible to see how far the basic match 3 format has been taken. Candy Crush Saga began as a simple match 3 game but has adapted its contexts to introduce more pressure on players in the key moments. While a game like Candy Crush Saga may seem relatively simple to a cynical outsider, the game developer King completed a rigorous process to bring the world one of its most popular match 3 games.

While a match 3 game is inherently gripping, having new characters or new powers added to such a game serves to make the action more powerful. Creators of match 3 games have realized that the key aspects of the genre can be adapted to a variety of themes to appeal to different tastes. Marvel Puzzle Quest allows gamers to interact with their favorite Marvel characters, while Star Wars: Puzzle Droids is strong with the force. Whether it is a greater focus on story or new adaptations to gameplay, it will be fascinating to see what lies ahead for match 3 gaming.

Fortnite Cross-Play Beta Launches Today After “Comprehensive Evaluation Process”

Rejoice, Fortnite fans! The news you’ve been waiting for ever since Epic Games accidentally triggered PlayStation 4 and Xbox One cross-play is now here! Yes, Sony has finally caved, and has allowed Fortnite cross-play on the PS4!

This was announced on a post on the PlayStation Blog, where Sony Interactive Entertainment President and Global CEO John Kodera made the announcement. Kodera states that after a “comprehensive evaluation process,” Sony has identified a path toward cross-platform features for select third-party content.

While this sounds like Sony is opening the floodgates for PS4 players to play against or with Xbox One and Nintendo Switch gamers, the first step in doing this is with Fortnite, which will PS4 players to engage with players from Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, Android, and iOS!

Following a comprehensive evaluation process, SIE has identified a path toward supporting cross-platform features for select third party content. We recognize that PS4 players have been eagerly awaiting an update, and we appreciate the community’s continued patience as we have navigated through this issue to find a solution.

The first step will be an open beta beginning today for Fortnite that will allow for cross platform gameplay, progression and commerce across PlayStation 4, Android, iOS, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows, and Mac operating systems. We see the beta as an opportunity to conduct thorough testing that ensures cross-platform play is best on PlayStation, while being mindful about the user experience from both a technical and social perspective.

Kodera also mentions how this represents a “major policy change” for Sony Interactive Entertainment, and that the company as a whole is in the planning process to support this change.

Kudos, Sony! Now let’s hope this is applied to all games. I mean, wouldn’t it be awesome if more games thrived even after years of being released due to the player base merger?
