EA Might Not Bring Back Microtransactions to Star Wars Battlefront II

While EA took out all the microtransactions in Star Wars Battlefront II, it also mentioned that it will be back in some form or another eventually, Well, that might not be happening at all. Speaking at the 37th Nasdaq Investor Conference, EA CFO Blake Jorgensen mentioned that microtransactions might not be coming back to Battlefront II after all.

Clearly we are very focused on listening to the consumer and understanding what the consumer wants and that’s evolving constantly. But we’re working on improving the progression system. We turned the MTX off as an opportunity to work on the progression system inside the game. We’re continuing to do that. I think there’s an update this week and again next week..

Overtime we’ll address how we will want to bring the MTX either into the game or not and what form we will decide to bring it into.

If I had to wager a guess, it’s not really the microtransactions that gamers had an issue with, it’s the fact that progression is affected by it. If EA announced microtransactions into Battlefront II but it was for cosmetics only, I gather a lot of people would be OK with it.

Would you be OK if EA reintroduced microtransactions into Battlefront II but as cosmetics only? Or would you prefer that it’s not brought back at all?

Destiny 2 Platinum Trophy Locked Behind DLC

If you want to “Platinum” Destiny 2’s base game, you better have bought a Season Pass or the game’s first expansion, Curse of Osiris. Why? Well, it seems you won’ t be able to complete the Trophy if you didn’t..

If you’re wondering why, it’s due to Bungie now gating the Prestige Raid! Yes, the same Prestige Raid that was available to everyone before. If that wasn’t enough, non-DLC buyers won’t be able to access the Trials, and seemingly, the Nightfall Strikes, too. Understandably, the folks over at the Destiny Subreddit are in outrage over this and with good reason.

One user by the name of CW_Lightning even took a screenshot proving that even if you have a powerlevel of 330, you can’t do the Prestige Nightfall if you don’t own the DLC.  Check the screenshot below for proof.

In addition to that, user “Sephy15” mentions that non-DLC owners cannot unlock the Legend of Acrius shotgun since Bungie changed the quest to match the new Prestige requirements as can be seen in the screenshot below.

If you managed to get your Platinum Trophy in Destiny 2 before the expansion dropped. well, good for you. For those who haven’t, prepare to pony up if you want to get every Trophy. In case you’re wondering, this also applies to the Xbox One version and Achievements as well.

Once Bungie says something about this or Sony does, we’ll be sure to let readers know.

PUBG Desert Map Final Name Revealed, Key Locations Given Official Descriptions

The upcoming PUBG desert map has been given a final name. The development team announced it in a new blog post. It’s to be called “Miramar.”

Here’s a short description of Miramar and what kind of gameplay it hopes to promote:

We are excited beyond words that we can finally share the name of our new desert map and tell you a little bit about some of the places you can visit. When we decided to create a new map, we focused on creating an environment that is very different from Erangel. We wanted to go the opposite direction of having lush fields and forests and arrived at the harsh and unforgiving desert of what we can now reveal is Miramar. The unique terrain and dense urban areas of Miramar will create a new Battle Royale experience where the old strategies may no longer work and new tactics are required.

In addition to this, the developer has also provided short descriptions of Miramar’s key landmarks and towns.

Los Leones

The largest city in the region, Los Leones features ample shopping, a skyline filled with new construction, and a glorious, golden-hued City Center. Players should secure high vantage points by exploring the numerous construction sites, and loot for gear in the cavernous, abandoned commercial buildings.

El Pozo

El Pozo is a city known for its large industrial and entertainment districts. Players can test themselves against all comers in the Luchador Arena, put their motorcycle skills to the test in the death bowl, or hunt in the ruins of the long dead textile factories.

Monte Nuevo

Monte Nuevo is the picture of a town besieged. Ramshackle walls built to protect its residents now allow players ample cover to explore the well-stocked compound.

Valle del Mar

Valle del Mar is a colorful oceanside town bisected by the De Toro bridge. To the West of the bridge is a quaint school, and to the East, a beautiful church. The key to holding this town is bridge control, as it’;s the only direct route between mainland and the island.

La Cobreria

The shipping and transport capitol of Miramar, La Cobreria’s most prominent feature is it’s enormous Rail Yard. Here, players will hunt and be hunted among the half-buried cargo of a long dead industry. Careful players should loot the schools and campuses that dot this town before attempting to hold the Yard.

San Martin

San Martin is located just south of Hacienda Del Patron. Checkpoints and barriers have transformed this once-quiet small town in a war zone. Both sides of the town have overlooks, so careful players should scout first, before charging into town.

Pecado

Once a tourist destination featuring the largest casino in the region, Pecade continues to thrills players to this day with its mix of high-value loot and dangerous sightlines. Aggressive players will immediately loot the Arena and Casino, but savvy players should check out the 4 story hotels between them.

Chumacera

Chumacera is the husk of Miramar’s once thriving textile industry. Long abandoned factories overlook a main road lined with residential and commercial buildings. Verticality in both the buildings and terrain make this town an exciting location to loot-high risk, high opportunity!

On top of all of this new info, new screenshots have been revealed:

Are you looking forward to playing on Mirarmar?

In other PUBG news, Brendan Greene has confirmed that the Xbox One versions of the game will run at 30fps at launch, two mobile games have been announced with trailers, and desert map gameplay will debut at The Game Awards 2017.

Ubisoft Giving Away Assasin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and World in Conflict for Free

Ubisoft is in a festive mood as the publisher is giving PC players free games! The games being given out are World in Conflict, and Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. Everyone who has a Ubisoft account will be able to play — provided your PC can handle the games, of course.

If you’re wondering why, it’s because Ubisoft is celebrating the 10th anniversary of World in Conflict, and the creation of the Assassin’s Creed franchise. World in Conflict will be free to download on PC from today until December 11, while Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag will be free from December 11 to December 18.

Ubisoft Massive released highly acclaimed World in Conflict in September 2007, an innovative RTS / RTT game in a Cold War setting. A single-player expansion called Soviet Assault followed in 2009. The game features both a strong and captivating single-player campaign and an intense multiplayer section that supports up to 16 players. With many other features, including Voice Over IP, amazing graphics and completely destructible battlefields, World in Conflict is an intense strategy experience unlike anything you’ve ever seen before. Released to high critical acclaim, it has been called one of the best strategy games ever made.

Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag includes compelling characters, an extensive world, and an infinite amount of pirate activities to engage in. It begins in 1715, when pirates established a lawless Republic in the Caribbean and ruled the land and seas. These outlaws paralyzed navies, halted international trades, and plundered vast fortunes. They threatened the power structures that ruled Europe, inspired the imagination of millions, and left a legacy that still endures. From Kingston to Nassau, explore 50 unique locations where you can live the life of a pirate as Edward Kenway. Captain and customize your own ship, search for lost treasures, hunt rare animals and loot underwater shipwrecks.

Players will be able to download the free games right here.

Now bring this to consoles as well, Ubisoft!

Star Wars Battlefront II AFK Farming Fix Incoming via Server-Side Update

If you play Star Wars Battlefront II, then chances are you’ve encountered AFK farmers that take up valuable roster spot and literally do nothing the entire match. While DICE didn’t include a fix for it in its latest patch, a fix is incoming, and it might come sooner than we think.

Over on official Battlefront forums (thread has since been pulled), a developer has mentioned that a fix is in the pipeline, though they can’t comment on the exact release time. Also, it might not even be a patch, but a server-side update just like how the new credits system got tweaked.

(Images courtesy of Reddit):

Given that the entire thread has been deleted, there is a chance that the patch could be part of a bigger patch. However it’s implemented, let’s hope it’s soon, or more people will have to contend with fake teammates.

In other Star Wars Battlefront II news, The Last Jedi season kicked off earlier today! Make sure to pick a side and complete the challenges to get some sweet rewards. Make sure you  check out the latest datamined stuff that talks about Jabba’s palace and more.

Call of Duty: WWII BAR Assault Rifle “Likely” to Be Nerfed Again

By my estimate, Sledgehammer Games has already rolled out two game updates for Call of Duty: WWII, and in both patches, the BAR assault rifle has been hit with nerfs. Well, if you still see everyone rocking it, that might change soon, as another nerf is likely incoming.

Over on Twitter, Sledgehammer Games boss Michael Condrey mentioned that they will “likely” nerf the BAR again, though they don’t want to oversteer changes that might make weapons useless.

If you can’t read the tweet, it states:

We did nerf the BAR post launch. It wasn’t enough, and we likely will nerf it again. But deliberate changes are better for players than oversteering changes that take weapons people have invested time in and render them useless.

Do you think the BAR needs more nerfs or is it fine the way it is now? Or maybe just buff some of the other guns so it’s at par with the BAR? COD: WWII players, let us know what you think.

In other COD: WWII news, we listed the rewards players can get with each social score rank yesterday. We also posted a video where our own Mack Ashworth got a 20 win streak playing 1v1.

Housemarque New Game to Use Unreal Engine 4, Moving Away From Proprietary Tech

After using their own proprietary tech to create arcade shooter hits like Super Stardust HDResogun and Nex Machina, Housemarque will now be shaking things up. Unreal Engine 4 will be the new engine powering the developer’s new soon-to-be-announced title.

For over 22 years, Housemarque has built and used its own tech, so the move to UE4 is a huge deal!

Housemarque CEO Ilari Kuittinen had this to say:

Throughout our 22 years, Housemarque has taken pride in building our own proprietary technology to build the games that we want to play. Our summer 2017 release – Matterfall bucked that trend and was the first Housemarque release to use Unreal 4 … We have made the decision to use Unreal Engine 4 exclusively going forwards. Unreal 4 enables fast prototyping, contains modern pipelines and editors for artists and designers and provides really valuable documentation and support forums. Plus, it’s still very customizable so we can still use our award-winning rendering and visual effects tech with the engine. We’ve got some exciting stuff in the works!

Epic Games’ Mike Gamble said that he is “thrilled that Housemarque has chosen to adopt UE4 for their projects.”

Housemarque recently announced that they’ll be moving on from developing “arcade coin-op inspired games” to “exploring new genres including multiplayer experiences with strong, robust communities.”

Are you excited to see what’s next for Housemarque? How about the change to Unreal Engine 4? Is it a good move? Let us know.

Fixed issues where an Orc who cheated death after a Pit Fight loss could fail to re-enter the Army screen.

Fixed issues with incorrect Orc traits being shown in the Online Conquests preview menu.
