Battlefield 1 Incursions Gameplay With eSports Casting Realizes Mode’s Potential

When the five versus five Battlefield 1 “Incursions” mode was first announced, I was a little skeptical of how good it would be. Previous attempts at a competitive Battlefield mode hadn’t worked out too well, and I’ll admit I was pretty pessimistic of this next attempt. However, it seems I was wrong to write it off, as the video below shows.

Embedded below is a match between Meratua and Manguste eSports, casted by @BrettFX and @S8Fii. Give it a watch and see the mode’s potential realized:

If you’re not fully clued-up on what exactly the Incursions mode consists of, here’s the official lowdown:

COMPETITIVE—THE BATTLEFIELD WAY

A new competitive Battlefield 1 experience developed in collaboration with the community.

There’s nowhere to hide. No way to retreat. In Battlefield 1 Incursions, tightly-focused maps set the field for intense, tactical matches designed to test the limits of your skill and teamwork at the highest level of competition. With the inclusion of Battlefield staples like soldier classes and vehicles, this is a frontier that draws from everything that makes Battlefield special.

5-versus-5 Focused Battles

Built in collaboration with the community, Battlefield 1 Incursions brings the authenticity of Battlefield 1 to a contained, small-scale battle. The uniquely designed tighter matches of Battlefield 1 Incursions make it more than just another mode.

Vehicles

It wouldn’t be Battlefield without vehicles. Much like the Behemoths in the main Battlefield 1 experience, vehicles can turn the tide of a Battlefield 1 Incursions match. But they aren’t unstoppable, and destroying an enemy vehicle can be just as decisive as deploying one.

Strategic Depth

Your choices in loadout and role in your squad are critical, and every destroyed piece of environment can shift the entire momentum of battle. Only the sharpest strategic teams will rise to the top of the competition.

Epic Battlefield Moments

The impact of “only in Battlefield” moments lands even harder as every point, every move, and every bullet becomes the difference between victory and defeat. Scoring has been overhauled to create opportunities for dramatic comebacks and nail-biting upsets.

Discover Battlefield 1 Incursions for yourself as it commences a new phase with the help of the community. Invitations will be limited, so register now for your chance to help define this new chapter for Battlefield.

The Battlefield 1 Incursions Community Environment (formerly known as Alpha) is part of the ongoing journey where the Battlefield 1 Incursions development team collaborates with the global Battlefield community to craft a long-term competitive experience.

Welcome to competitive — the Battlefield way.

What do you think of the Battlefield 1 eSports mode? Good with a bit of casting behind it, right?

In other Battlefield news, a community mission is now available and themed around Halloween, here’s how to trigger the Neebs Easter egg on Brusilov Keep, and get a look at this new dog tag designed by a fan that’s coming to the game

Overwatch Roadmap Details Addition of eSports Tools to Make Matches More Watchable

During a new developer update, Blizzard’s Jeff Kaplan sat down to discuss the Overwatch roadmap and the next priority for the development team. With the Overwatch World Cup coming up, Kaplan wants to assure fans that watching the event will be made easier by the use of new tools.

Debuting during the BlizzCon event, the new eSports tools will allow audiences to clearly distinguish the different teams, see from different angles using a “smart camera,” watch instant replays and more.

Here’s the full list of features that Blizzard is looking to implement and showcase during the Overwatch World Cup:

  • In-game team uniforms. Beginning at the World Cup, all teams will have uniforms in different colours depending on whether they’re the home or away team. Depending on who you’re watching, the HUD will match, as will visual effects and explosions. “We want to make it super obvious which player and team you’re watching at all times,” said Kaplan.
  • A top-down interactive map for broadcasters. Broadcasters will be able to pull this map up over the action and observe where everybody is, how much ult charge they have, whether or not they’re stunned, and things like that. In theory, this one is for commentary folks and observers—the people on the other side of the camera—but Kaplan said broadcasters have the option of showing it to viewers and thinks it can be really useful that way, too. “We’ve had our observers and casters out here to work with it,” said Kaplan. “They say it makes their job a lot easier.”
  • A third-person “smart” camera. This is a third-person camera that knows where action is taking place and smooths it out so that it’s not all herky-jerky like when a person is moving it. “It knows where the action is at all times and is smartly following that action,” said Kaplan.
  • Instant replay tools. Broadcasters will be able to select any moment from the kill-feed, re-position the camera, time-scale it, and basically make it look really good and readable. In theory, this will make it much easier for commentators and analysts to break down plays.
  • An automated tournament interface. This will allow tournament organisers to set up matches with little chance of human error. It also means that if a player disconnects mid-match, the game will auto-pause and hopefully, once they’ve reconnected, be able to resume right where the action left off.

You can watch the full 10-minute developer update below:

In other Overwatch news, the player count recently hit “35 million players and counting,” a copycat game by the name of “Heroes of Warfare” is being sued by Blizzard, and Halloween skins were revealed and are now available to earn

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Halloween Event Nets You a Free Camo and Lets You Try Der Eiscendrache Map

With a lot of games having their own Halloween events to mark the occasion, Treyarch is joining the party with Call of Duty: Black Ops 3’s own in-game festivities. Starting today until November 1, 10 a.m. PDT, the Zombie mode map Der Eisendrache will be free for trial.  There’s also going to be a free camo for everyone who logs in by November 1!

Survarium Update Includes First Ever Co-Op Mission, New Weapons & More

A number of updates have hit Survarium in quick succession. The biggest addition is the Team Story Missions, which allow co-op play. A range of weapon balance tweaks have also been made, and bugs have been thoroughly squashed.

Here’s the full list of patch notes for the most recent update (0.50ae):

General Changes

  • Added new phrases for AI characters (bots).
  • Added visual effect when you hover a mouse pointer over the team mission picture in the lobby.
  • Added visual effects for Spring activation in the team mission.
  • Bots are now tougher on medium and hard difficulties in the team mission.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed issues causing desynchronization.
  • Fixed issues causing black squares on the screen.
  • Fixed issues with motion blur on your character’s weapon.
  • Fixed issues causing the game client or server crashes in the team mission.
  • Fixed issues with friendly fire in the team mission.
  • Fixed issues preventing player characters from resurrecting in the team mission.
  • Fixed issues causing the chat to not work in matches.
  • Various localization fixes.

Patch 0.50ae, builds onto the 0.50 update, which brought many big changes to the game. Here’s the extensive list of patch notes:

Team Story Missions

  • Introduced “Team Missions” mode.
  • Introduced “Dangerous Knowlege” team mission. It tells about a conflict between Black Market and The Renaissance Army, and also unveils the mystery about secret experiments which lead to creation of the Forest.
  • To begin a mission special Access Keys are required. The keys are divided in free and premium. One free key is awarded for each of the first 2 wins in PvP matches daily (so you can get maximum 2 keys daily), and you cannot own more than 2 free keys. Premium keys can be bought in the shop. Your keys never expire and the free keys are always used first.
  • After the first login into Survarium 0.50 all players will receive 5 Access Keys (2 free and 3 premium ones).
  • To start a mission you need to spend one Access Key for each person. You can pay for yourself, and also for one or both allies.
  • The mission is designed for a squad of three players. However, you can start it solo or with a friend, but you need to block the rest of the spots: pay for another one (if you go duo) or for two other people (if you go solo).
  • When you join a PvE mission alone (and have not blocked additional spots), the game will find two squadmates for you.
  • While going through the mission you can find stashes with trophies (some of them are hard to miss, but it’s not that easy to get all of the stashes). The more stashes you collect, the more rewards you get when the mission is a success. Can you find all the stashes?
  • There are three difficulty settings (easy, medium, hard) on each of five equipment tiers. The rewards for completing a mission depend on the number of stashes found, difficulty and equipment tier.
  • To successfully finish a mission you need to complete a set of tasks. At least one of the players must reach each of the checkpoints: then defeated squad members are resurrected and may continue.
  • You can resurrect immediately by spending an Access Key.
  • You can loot fallen enemies to resupply ammo.
  • If all squad members are dead, the mission is failed. The mission also has a time limit (45 minutes).
  • Added new UI screens before and after team missions.
  • Added Leaderboards for Team Missions. Your position is affected by the number of found stashes and mission completion time.

General Changes

  • Damage to characters hands increased from 80% to 100%.
  • All character skills were reset. Don’t forget to redistribute your skill points!

Ark PC Patch Tweaks Sleeping, Handcuffs & More

A new ARK: Survival Evolved PC patch has been unleashed. Update 273 tweaks sleeping, handcuffs and more. Be sure to read up on the patch notes below, so you don’t get caught off guard when hitting the hay, or when you’re captured!

See below for the full list of patch notes:

  • Added the capability to “Lay On” Simple Bed and Modern Bed (2 people on Modern Bed). If you log out while laying on a bed, you’ll remain in sleeping pose on the bed even when you log-out, and will stay on the bed even while it moves on a dynamic platform. (You can still be damaged and killed when on the bed).
  • ARK update 273 has added the capability for another player to “Lock” handcuffed players to Seating Structures (including Chairs, Benches, Beds, etc). When locked to a structure, the handcuffed player will appear to have a cable connecting them to the structure and be forced to sit on the structure. This state persists across logging out as well. Another player can also “Unlock” you from the Structure, or remove the handcuffs. Chairs within Cages are thus very useful for transportation of prisoners.
  • When handcuffed, Poop now is forced directly into Slot 1. Prisoners can consume it rapidly as it builds up to attempt suicide.
Fixed saving/loading of Lamp Post Light intensity value.

Now go get to playing Ark and rapidly consuming that poop!

In other Ark news, the PS4 update included big memory improvements and cutter optimizations, and the game runs surprisingly well on Xbox One X hardware

Call of Duty: WWII PS4 Avatar Being Given Away Again for Simple Mission Completion

For two days running, Sony has been giving out free Call of Duty: WWII stuff for completing what it calls “missions” over on live.playstation.com. Well, today there’s another one. While we first got an awesome COD: WWII dynamic PS4 theme, and a COD: WWII PS4 avatar yesterday, we get another PS4 avatar today, but this one is for Major Crowley!

Same as the previous ones, all you have to do is to watch the trailer associated with the mission to get the avatar that you can see above.

Will we get another one tomorrow? Or maybe something on Monday? Who knows, but if we do, we’ll be sure to let people know.

Make sure to keep an eye out for our in-depth review of Call of Duty: WWII where we’ll cover everything the game has to offer, but go deep in multiplayer as only MP1st can.

Absolver Update Readies the Game for Halloween, Includes Reworked Loot & Prestige Systems

A new Absolver update is out now on PC and PS4. This patch readies the game for Halloween, adding a bunch of scary masks to the customization options. In addition to the terror add-ons, Sloclap has worked on revamping the loot and prestige systems.

For the full list of Absolver‘s 1.08 patch see below:

1.08 UPDATE RELEASE NOTES

NEW CONTENT

  • Prestige levels unlocked after level 60
  • Rift Coins replace random loot drops in Combat Trials
  • Rift Disks allow to get rarer equipments and weapons
  • Win Crystals at each Prestige level
  • Spend Crystals to reset attribute points
  • Spend Crystals to acquire Rift Disks
  • Inventory management: Sort by, Salvage and Repair.

New equipment:

  • 4 new sets
  • 3 new Absolver Cloaks
  • 9 new masks, including 6 Halloween masks dropped by Marked Ones
  • 1v1 maps are now in night mode (temporary)
  • New “Bald” haircut available at character creation!

DESIGN UPDATES

Parry:

  • Almost all attacks, including thrust attacks, now require a specific parry direction to be countered (exceptions: Hadrunken, Obvious Slash and bare-hands Rush Attack for Stagger style)

Rush:

  • Decrease rush acceleration
  • Closer rush camera
  • Rush attacks: increase stun duration
  • Rush attacks: decrease knockback

Note: These are first steps to address fleeing behaviour.
Rush attacks were intended to counter players fleeing, but until now the player hit by a rush attack had the time to rush again directly after. With a longer stun and shorter knockback for the rush attacks, and a slower acceleration for the rush, the issue should be less present.
Also the new rush camera is closer to the character, so the player has not the whole vision of their surroundings, and it feedbacks more clearly when the character is rushing.

Camera:

  • The camera position is now lower when close to walls.

Shockwave:

  • Range 230cm -> 280cm (as before 1.06) BUT knockback now depends on distance to caster (from 280 when close to the caster, to 84 when at the limit of the range)

Items:

  • Added rarity levels to all equipments
  • Updated drop rates (Rift Coins and Rift Disks)

BUG FIXES

  • [GAMEPLAY] 1v1 rematch : clear shards
  • [GAMEPLAY] Shards cannot be filled in practice anymore
  • [GAMEPLAY] Charging attacks now lose their property when parried
  • [GAMEPLAY] Silence power cannot be used without a target
  • [GAMEPLAY] Parrying a double hit attack doesn’t result in being hit by second hit anymore
  • [GAMEPLAY] Fixed issue in which character finished in the wrong ending stance when being hit while changing stance
  • [NETWORK] Fixed a bug in hit knockback resulting in some awkward teleportation
  • [NETWORK] Fixed dodge position replication
  • [SAVES] The game now detects if save is not valid and rollbacks to previous save if needed
  • [AI] Fixed a bug when AI would get stuck after a player’s successful dodge
  • [SFX] Fixed issue with boss gate SFX sound was playing in PvP maps and during boss fights.
  • [DESIGN] Loot drops in Rift Coins and Rift Disks now give items in different color variants

Super Mario Odyssey Update 1.0.1 “Enhances the User’s Experience”

It’s launch day for Super Mario Odyssey, and a patch has already found its way to the game for a 1.0.1 day one update. What could this patch possibly contain to make an already great game even greater? Well, the 101MB update is apparently just full of “fixes.”

These fixes “have been made to enhance the user’s experience.” That sounds good to me!

Version 1.0.1
Several fixes have been made to enhance the user’s experience.

If you’re wondering what Super Mario Odyssey is doing being featured on MP1st, I’d like to remind you of the game’s multiplayer co-op mode! In this mode, one player controls Mario while the other controls Cappy. This is done using a single system, making it easy for friends to jump in and have fun.

Have you picked up Super Mario Odyssey? If so, let us know your thoughts about the new Nintendo Switch exclusive. We hear that it’s pretty damn incredible!

In other Nintendo news, a spooktacular eShop sale for the UK has been released for this Halloween, the OJO projector has hit Indiegogo, and here’s 13 minutes of Super Mario Odyssey co-op gameplay
